I will not be reading or reviewing this book, since it was pulled from publication due to recent events.

I would like to start off by saying that thank you for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. And although I know this book is pulled from future publication, I think it’s important to remember lines about visas, immigrants, Elon musk, as well as anything prominent to issues that have been happening and are very serious conversations should not be put in the book as a way to describe a “charcater flaw”. There are numerous ways to write romance books without including lines like this.

due to recent news, it was pulled from publication. therefore, i will not be reading or reviewing this book as of right now. however, i would still give a second chance to this book when or if it's republished with a revised version. nevertheless, thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me an ARC.

I was disappointed in this book, the premise sounded really good but the actual story was just not it.
There was good initial set up of the characters and I was intrigued from the first chapter, however the MMC quickly became insufferable and whiny and was just generally giving me the ick.
The feeling was solidified when he used to line “shouldn’t there be some people with questionable work visas picking these grapes for us?” No, this is not okay and should be removed from the book before published, the author and their team needs to do better.
That aside, the banter between characters was fun to read. I liked Sadie’s character and wish I had the level of enthusiasm about life that she has. It was also nice to see the characters trust each other instead of the typical third-act breakup which I had been convinced was going to happen.
The tension buildup between the MMC and FMC just wasn’t there, it seemed to just all of a sudden be that they were totally in love. The story did feel like it was dragging after the first 30% of the book and to be honest didn’t really feel like it went anywhere, making the book feel more like a set up for the rest of the series.
The spice just wasn’t good, it was open door sure but completely lacked the heat and passion it needed to elevate the book. Also, why are they so obsessed with each others smells, who loves the smell of sweat?
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this book, it wasn’t worth my time reading and was just very disappointing.

I read this unaware of the racist and problematic comments made by the author. I had completely missed the lines until it was brought to my attention. I am also very disappointed in Sophie Lark’s response to these comments and the lack of accountability.
As a result of this, I have removed my review and will not be supporting this author or release.

Thank you Bloom for the opportunity to read this arc, but as it has been pulled from publication, I am unable to read it. Therefore, the rating is neutral to reflect that I have not read the book.

This book was so cute!! Definitely a change of pace from Sophie Lark’s normal work, but a really great take on contemporary romance. I loved the main characters Sadie and Monroe, there is so much history in their story so it’s nice to see them fall in love after knowing eachother for their whole lives. I guess you could say this book was friends/rivals to lovers because their families both own/share the vineyard and have been at eachothers throats ever since. I’m obsessed with the history behind the other siblings relationships, Hazel x Heath, June x Gray, the three Sparrow daughters and three Beaumont sons. This was an easy read and one of my favorite advanced reader copies I’ve gotten from NetGalley. Can’t wait for the rest of the stories!!

I wish that they had not pulled this book. Not everyone’s opinion is the same. Sometimes people read things from other authors that they don’t agree with but we don’t cancel them. It’s a shame. Wishing all the best to the author and Bloom.

First off, thank you to Bloom for the opportunity to read this arc.
I was unable to read this before the book was pulled from publication. As such I am unable to provide a full review. This book was pulled because of earlier reviewers identifying problematic statements made in the book.
I am providing a neutral review rating as such.

Thank you, NetGalley and publishers for this arc.
I was very much looking forward to reading this book and I was really enjoying the story. The author is a favorite of mine, but after all the drama and controversy with this book, I will not be reading it as of right now. I heard that the author will be revising the book and it will be out at a later date. I sure hope that she will have another book out. I will continue to read her books, but this one just left a bad taste in my mouth and after everything that’s going on, I would rather not read it at this time!

I unfortunately won’t be reading this one, it was one I was looking forward to however after seeing reviews online and the content the author kept in the book despite the publisher flagging it means I won’t be reading this or any of her future work

Just closing this out, since the book has been pulled.
Best of luck to the author and everyone at Bloom.

I loved every minute of this! The sweetest romance and interesting storyline behind it all. Definitely makes you want to continue the series. I wasn't expecting so many things to be left unanswered, but I also didn't know there would be more books in the series, so now it makes sense. I love that Sadie's sister mentioned being a fan of Elon Musk and following his guide, and that we got to see that actually mentioned in a book. Its sad to see all the hate this is getting.. we can talk about transgender rights and abortion rights in other books, things that I don't agree with, but then the second a book mentions Elon, something libs and dems don't agree with, we have to go and cancel the entire book? Makes zero sense. A very one sided industry unfortunately.

Sparrow and Vine was supposed to be my first read by Sophie Lark, and I was genuinely excited to explore her writing and add more of her works to my TBR list. However, after reading the negative reviews and hearing about the book, I find myself unable to read it or recommend it positively. The racist and insensitive remarks I encountered in the book make it impossible for me to endorse this book to others or give it a high rating. I sincerely hope the author removes this book entirely (not just edits it) and takes the time to reflect on her work, ensuring that she never writes something like this again. Consequently, I will not read any of her future works.
Nevertheless, Thank you Netgalley for giving me the ARC. Unfortunately, I was unable to post this comment on Goodreads.

i was unable to read this completely due to it being removed, but in light of recent news about the author it doesn't deserve more than one star anyway. i like to try to separate art from artists but in some cases that's just not possible and this is one of them.

Honestly, hearing all the negative information of this book really ruins it for me. I really hope the book gets edited but will most likely not be rereleased.

Really enjoyed this book and I liked reading about Sadie and monrore’s relationship it was very interesting
I do recommend for everything to read
