Thank you to NetGalley and Astra Publishing for the eARC!
This book is cute and colorful with lots of repetition that would be fun for young kids! The little girl was working hard to persuade the shark to eat anyone but her, which as an adult I found quite funny but I'm not sure it's a great lesson for children. She did ultimately escape the shark. Overall, I think this was cute and entertaining and would consider it for the upper end of the suggested 3-7 year range.

The book was beautifully written. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

So cute! I loved the colors and the rhyming and the clever little girl. The various ocean animals all giving the shark a reason not to eat them, too funny. I did feel bad for the poor shark at the end. My children really enjoyed it and have been pretending to be the shark and the animals all afternoon. Thanks for the fun!

I truly loved this book! It is an inspiration to girls to look at the world differently when problem-solving. The story is engaging and cleverly written, showing how creativity and quick thinking can overcome even the most daunting challenges. The illustrations perfectly complement the narrative, bringing the adventure to life. A wonderful read for young minds, especially those who love adventure and smart, resourceful heroines!
I will be purchasing when it is available!

The illustrations and text design are beautiful. The repetition and rhythm could make for a fun story time with sea-obsessed kiddos. However, I don’t find this one to be too memorable. There also isn’t a moral, and the little girl is all too willing to offer up her fellow sea-mates (other animals) to avoid becoming a snack for the shark. I guess it doesn’t have to be that deep (haha), but given the overwhelming volume of rhythmic, clever, beautifully illustrated children’s books out there, I don’t think we’ll be shelving this one. It’ll be right for some kiddo, though!
Thank you to Net Galley, Hippo Park and the author for the early e-copy!

Thank you for the ARC. I read this to my son who was immediately captivated by the bright colors. It was a cute story. We both enjoyed it.

Thank you to Daniel Barnstorm, Astra Publishing House and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I adored this book about this little girl and her attempts to help a shark find something (other than her!) to eat. It simply highlights the struggle so many parents have with their young children - picky eating and refusal to try new foods! As a holistic nutritionist it is something I often see with my clients and their children. This book shows how it’s ok to try new things and not like them but to also not be afraid to try those new things. This will make a great add to my office waiting room materials for clients and their children to enjoy! The art work is bright and colourful but not overly distracting allowing the children to focus on the story. I also appreciated the BIPOC representation in this story!
