This book was absolutely adorable! I first came across this author on TikTok and later requested this book through NetGalley and I have to say this is going in as one of my favorites!
As someone who doesn't read Sci-Fi much, I wasn't too sure on what I was expecting. If you know me you probably know I have been in one of the worst on again, off again reading slumps. Yet today when I picked this book up I did not want to put it down. I was absolutely obsessed with Delphine and Haven. From Delphine's personal experiences and relatability for me, to the love shown in the pages I was hooked. The world building was absolutely PHENOMENAL!
Something I get nervous about when reading Sci-Fi or fantasy is the introduction of non-human characters and their descriptions. Rachel wrote amazing descriptions of all of these characters. I was able to fully envision and see everyone clearly. I will give a side note that this was really present in the spicy scenes as well! The development and pacing felt very well placed. This is a pretty fast paced read with lots of huge interesting changes!

I enjoyed this, I don’t normally read sci fi but I liked the cover and the premise. It felt a bit slow to me at times but it was cute and I loved the way the author wrote the difficult relationships!

In a post apocalyptic world where people live under domes, population is dwindling, and animals are mostly extinct, humans are desperate to get pregnant, even if it means from as many partners as possible. But despite their efforts, things still aren't looking good. But Delphine has a way out. An imaginary alien friend who says he's on his way to save not only her but her cats.
Everyone says she's crazy, and that's why she's stopped talking about him, but she's known about Haven since she was a child. And after they seemingly invade the planet, she turns out to be right, and he's a real person. If you can call an alien with intense cat traits a real person. And just like he's been telling her, he intends to make Delphine his wife. And guess what? She's fine with spending the rest of her life travelling on a space ship, saving cats from all over the galaxy, and living with her alien husband, Haven.
Overall, this book has super graphic sex scenes, with huge alien dongs and all. I found it to be kind of weird that she wanted to bang a cat so bad he turned humanoid, but the book was short and to the point. I enjoyed reading it, even if I was flabbergasted at the more sexual scenes in the book. After all, how often do you get to read about alien dicks? I did think it kind of overdid the "princess" thing however. Definitely an adult only book, but I thought it was fun to read.

A big shout out and thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review!
What I expected when I walked into Saved by my Alien Husband was just a sweet bite of quick escape. What I got was certainly that but so much more. To my utter surprise the book had many elements of a higher fantasy than I would’ve expected.
A dual POV narration greatly aids the storytelling, presenting the lives of the two protagonists and highlighting their different worlds, experiences and beliefs. When their worlds collide, it was additionally interesting to see their unique reactions to it plus the cultural differences between them and how they find middle ground with one another on it.
The plot is quite simple, but the many elements woven into the story add several layers of complexity to it. From classism, dystopian elements, politics, to the more emotional aspects of the story—like the way the female protagonist associates to her world and how she grows from possessing a smaller worldview to widening it to include others—were all certainly interesting to watch unfold. To a certain extent the power balance and plays remain but at least they shift towards more just characters.
The world building was surprisingly a big part of this book. I think most of us walk into books about aliens or ones with animated covers (is that the right name for it?) expecting a fluffy, fun read. Except this book had some heartbreaking themes, a wider world with lots of details and characters that required introductions and plot resolutions. I was pleasantly surprised! But I do know it can come as an unexpected revelation to some, so definitely do walk in aware that the story is more than just the romance. There are several sub-plots that hold equal importance, in my opinion.
The pace was relatively even, but depending on which aspect of the theme of the book you enjoy you might feel that that portion of the story progresses faster. For me, personally, I experienced a lag in the intermediary portion of the book.
Four stars! As always check trigger warnings before reading as some of the themes in this book may be difficult for some. Happy reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and Aria James Publishing for the ARC!
This story is adorable. It is a quick read with a unique setting and characters. As a cat lover, it made me so happy to think of a race of aliens that had evolved from cats and were then saving their genetic ancestors from an apocalyptic world.
My only critic is that I wish the story was longer! I feel like Rachel H Drake could create an entire series from Delphine and Havens story. It would be fun to see them again one day.

Saved By My Alien Husband is a captivating blend of dystopian sci-fi and steamy romance that will leave readers breathless. The story follows Delphine, a young woman grappling with the bleak reality of a dying Earth, who finds solace in her vivid dreams of an alien prince named Haven. Their connection is electric, and the tension between fantasy and reality is masterfully woven, keeping you guessing until the very moment Haven’s spaceship appears outside Earth’s protective dome.
The romance is high-spice and unapologetically bold, featuring tropes like “touch her and die,” knotting, and unique alien anatomy that will appeal to fans of the genre. The chemistry between Delphine and Haven is palpable, and their relationship evolves in a way that feels both passionate and genuine.
The dystopian setting adds a rich backdrop to the story, highlighting themes of survival, hope, and the resilience of love in the face of extinction. The pacing is excellent, with just the right balance of action, romance, and world-building.

Is it real? Is it just a dream? What an interesting premise for a book! A few well placed twists and turns kept things interesting. I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. A fun read for anyone who loves a fun Alien/Cryptid story.

Not what I expected at all, but that's not a bad thing. I thought this was just going to be your average cute rom-com, but it was so much more than that!! I loved the plot and the characters so much, I like that there was spice but it wasn't the main focus of the book. Absolutely loved it, and it was a pretty quick read for me.

The book cover is so cute. The premise of this story was so intriguing to me. It is the end days of earth. Delphine lives in an apocalyptic world where she is a bit of an outcast. Haven is her “imaginary friend” who shows up in her dreams. He is actually an alien prince who is connected to her. He comes to save her a few days before the end of earth. Oh and also the cats. They are an alien species evolved from cats. The beginning was very good. I’m sorry but once I got to the part where he is compared to the size of a forearm and larger around it was just cringe. Why do these aliens always have to be so gigantic in their portions? Then the book was just kinda slow and boring. I didn’t feel a connection between the two main characters. Thank you NetGalley for an arc.

This was such a cute little rom com between an alien and a woman who hates earth. And cats are superior beings!!
Lighthearted and easy read

Saved by my Alien Husband by Rachel Drake follows Delphine, who dreams of an alien prince while the earth around her is dying. Imagine her surprise when he shows up, is definitely real, and immediately goes into protective husband mode. On arrival, her alien husband Haven also announces that they are there to save their ancestral relatives, cats, and offer for any humans who wish to come with them the opportunity to do so.
This story is told from a dual POV, for those who enjoy being inside the heads of both of the main characters!
My thoughts as I’m reading: The writing style is immensely pleasing to me, it’s casual, well paced, and easy to read. I love all of the cat mentions and cat love! Man, Haven’s entrance (real, not dream version) had me giddy. I sped through the rest of the book without taking notes… It was such a delightful book with a very happy ending. And it was chock full of cats! A very unique book! I can’t think of any other that are similar that I’ve read.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy romantic aliens, and if you want a book that truly appreciates cats. Thank you so very much to Netgalley and Aria James Publishing for allowing me to read this e-arc!

this was honestly adorable!!! it was sweet and simple and just charming. THE COVER IS ALSO LOVELY. THEY ARE SO CUTE.
Delphine was such a strong FMC and Haven was an adorably protective alien MMC. while the first few chapters were a bit odd to me, i still found myself completely intrigued and wanting to finish.
these two were adorable and i loved seeing them finally have their moment after so many years of being dream friends or to delphine she assumed "imaginary", little did she know....i thoroughly enjoyed watching these two find their happy ending even if there was a bit of a journey along the way, the easy acceptance between them was beautiful and natural.
i will say i kind of wanted some of the people and her PARENTS who were mean to her get a tad bit more of a comeuppance, Delphine deserved that, but in the end she became princess and i guess in the end that was the true justice. she was surviving for so long that she ended up realizing who she was finally when Haven showed her she didn't need to feel the need to be in a constant state of survival, haven was right about that part.
the cats being a way between worlds, i adored (even tho i am truly not a cat person....and totally relatable to the human era who lost the dogs and were sad after it)
thoroughly hoping we get a story about Fate and Daryl and Jalen and Greer, HERE FOR IT. GIMME MORE RACHEL. and the king finding new love? i LOVE that, he deserved it.
this book made me smile and giggle and i enjoyed that immensely fully felt good vibes the entirety of their story.

First and foremost, a giant, raging, ‘FUCK YOU’ to the trigger warning page that promised “knotting”, “unique alien anatomy” and “high spice” - you sold me on a lie. (Sidebar: a dick that resembles a forearm is hardly unique)
Secondly, to the reviewers who rated this four whole fucking stars, and in particular the one who lead me to believe this really WAS going to be a spice-fest. I have zero doubt you’re the person who orders lemon and herb at Nando’s and complains it’s too spicy. Fuck you to the moon.
If this hadn’t been an ARC I would have DNF’d.
SBMAH felt a whole fucking lot like thinly veiled climate propaganda, as though Greta Thunberg hijacked a romance novel with ChatGPT.
Into psychic bonds with cats? Contrived dialogue? A virgin MMC who trained with blow up sex dolls? Yeah, me neither.
This fell flat as a biscuit for me.
Want swoony, spicy alien romance? Try Ruby Dixon or Lilith Leana. You’re welcome.

Ok, so this book was generally fast-paced and pretty silly (in the good way). An alien race descended from cats that can use cats to psychically communicate with humans? That’s pretty fun! I wish my cat could talk to me the way Delphine’s can communicate with her!!
I will say, though, that since Haven and Delphine already know each other by the time they meet irl—and they’re already in love and married, thanks to Haven’s peoples’ customs—there’s a lack of romantic tension in this story, to the point that it doesn’t feel like a genre romance at times, so much as it feels like a super cozy apocalyptic politics story with spice and a romance subplot. And because of that, the spice felt like it had less payoff because their relationship was a given from the start.
Also, while the worldbuilding for life on a dying Earth felt pretty robust, I would have liked a little more about the Eldon as a species. We’re told they’ve descended from cats and have rough skin and tails, but if they have cat-like tongues, wouldn’t that have affected Delphine’s experience kissing Haven?
Even so, I had a really great time with this book. It was sweet, easy, and fairly low-angst for an Earth-death story, and it was great getting to see Delphine come into her own as a leader.

What a short 'n sweet (and spicy) sci fi romance! Delphine and Haven's love story set against a backdrop of the impending doom of Earth's destruction was a story I didn't know I needed. The witty banter and emotional awareness of the characters was top-notch and this read is perfect for fans of Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians series.

I definitely fell for the cover and had to see what it was about and loved it. Such a fun unique romance with some spicy in it! Coziest end of the world story/ romance! Thank you NetGalley and publisher for early arc of this book!

3.5 ⭐️
This book was such a quick and fun read, I read it in one sitting! I haven’t read many alien romances so this one was a nice change. I thought I was going into a reading slump and this book helped me out of that so definitely recommend!
Thank you Aria James Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC!

This is a quick and spicy alien romance which was way spicier than what I was expecting from the cover. The romance in the book is very fast paced but isn’t insta-love as they have been communicating in their dreams for 10 years even if Delphine just thought he was her imaginary friend. That being said, I would’ve liked some more intimacy when they met in person before going straight to getting married. I would’ve loved to see more of the worldbuilding. It’s set in the future where climate change has wrecked earth so much that there are only a handful of groups of humans in remote places around the globe due to constant tornadoes, unpredictable solar flares and unstable temperatures. I did pick this book just because of the cats on the cover and I loved that they’re telepathic and are the genetic ancestors of Haven and the other Eldrin aliens. My one criticism is that I wished the epilogue wasn’t ten years later. Although it was really cure, I would’ve loved a second book or seeing more of the two of them together while they travel through the universe and continue trying to save humans and cats. This was the first book I read from this author and I will definitely be reading more in the future.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, the author and Aria James Publishing for providing me with an arc in return for a voluntary review. All thoughts expressed here are my own. A paperback version with pink sprayed edges is available exclusively from ariajamespublishing.com
Tropes: new adult romance, "touch her and die," possessive alien hero, knotting, unique alien anatomy, high spice, HEA, and dystopian influences.

This was a quick, spicy, and fun alien romance!
Delphine has spent ten years dreaming about an alien man who promises to save her. Everyone thinks she’s crazy—until the Eldrin aliens actually show up, and her very real soulmate, Haven, comes to rescue her (and humanity, though he’s not thrilled about that part). He originally came to Earth to save cats, but bonding with Delphine changed everything.
I loved the world-building, especially the whole Saviour vs. Server Class system. The writing is a little quirky, some reactions felt off, but honestly? The whole book is weird in the best way. There’s not a ton of conflict since it’s mostly about the romance and spice, but it’s fast-paced and super easy to read.
Haven worships Delphine, and their relationship has been building for a decade—so no instalove here. Also, aliens coming to save cats? Incredible.
4 stars
Weird, fun, and full of heart. Definitely worth a read!

I received a digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, this is a DNF. I could tell pretty early on that this book wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. The story gets spicy VERY quickly, in a way that didn’t allow me to form an attachment to the main character. It reads less like a sci-fi romance and more like a sci-fi erotica — which isn’t necessarily an issue, but wasn’t what I had hoped for, given the cute cover. Looking at other reviews, I’m pretty sure I was just the wrong audience for this and it will have no problem finding lots of happy readers.
