Unfortunately, this is a DNF. I could tell pretty early on that this book wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. The story gets spicy VERY quickly, in a way that didn’t allow me to form an attachment to the main character. It reads less like a sci-fi romance and more like a sci-fi erotica — which isn’t necessarily an issue, but wasn’t what I had hoped for, given the cute cover. Looking at other reviews, I’m pretty sure I was just the wrong audience for this and it will have no problem finding lots of happy readers.

To start off, I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

I very much enjoyed the adventure this book took me on, and I especially loved the “end of the world” type feel that this book gave with the countdown of days on earth. When our main characters first met and throughout the beginning of their relationship, I loved how they communicated through their dreams! Because how cool is THAT?! I just wish that part of the book was a little longer and that was elaborated on a bit more because I found that part of the book very fun.. and steamy.

I really loved their relationship throughout the story, but I feel like we needed some more personal intimacy when they first met in person. It seemed to be very rushed so when they got married, I was like “Oh… Well, that was fast..”. To me, it would have made more sense if maybe we had more stories about them communicating or dating in Delphine’s dreams, or they had waited a little longer to get married. Like maybe get to know each other in person some more. The overprotectiveness almost seemed overkill to me because I feel we needed more relationship build up.

It did get a little boring there in the middle, so I was happy that we had some more thrill in the story once we learned that the other domes were failing. That made it a lot more interesting, so I wanted to continue reading.

I thought the ending was very sweet and it captured the humans’ emotions very well. It was nice to see how their lives ended up 10 years later. I love to see the happy ending!

Overall, I would give this book a 3/5. I would have absolutely loved to see more of the communications they had in their dreams. We could have had a few more steamy scenes with that. That would have probably made me feel better about them getting married so quickly. I did like this story though and it was a very interesting concept, and I love the end of the world vibe it gave. We had such an awesome hero in Haven.

This book might be the coziest end-of-the-world story I’ve ever read. Humans on Earth live in domes with a strange caste system, while the human FMC has been having encounters in her dreams with a sexy alien.

The romance isn’t quite insta-love since they’ve technically known each other for a long time, she just believed he was a figment of her imagination. They’re automatically obsessed with each other. He’s very dominant and protective, while she’s spunky and independent.

There is a sexual encounter between the FMC and a human, which flirts with cheating vibes, though the MMC is aware of her ongoing arrangement before he arrived. Personally I found it to be an odd addition to the plot, and it may be off putting for some readers.

Overall, this is a fun dystopian sci-fi alien romance with the potential to launch a series.

Spice: 5/5

This was fun and adorable. I absolutely love that the aliens came for the cats. Not going to lie, as a crazy cat lady, the cats are what drew me to this lol.

I hope more books are written in this universe. There is one non-spoiler quote from Delphine that absolutely resonantes with me “ Oh. So travel forever? Save cats until I die. . . going to planet after planet with him and his family, growing this ship into a cat paradise? Honestly, I kind of love that.” <<< I need more space adventures with cat rescues.

Haven was a sweet MMC, and I really liked Delphine. She’s a lot nicer that I would be to the humans. I would have been like, let’s grab the cats and go. I would love some more scenes of their childhood as they became friends/imaginary friends, maybe some from Haven’s POV as a bonus. They were already in love when they met because of sharing dreams for 10 years, separated by space and time, and I would love to have more of the falling in love scenes.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for an eARC copy of this book.

An alien that I see in my dreams turns into my real-life husband? Yes, please. Delphine is a bit of an outcast in her apocalyptic society where everyone is labeled and placed in roles to serve the community. She doesn’t buy into the society structure as much as everyone else does, and why should she? Life there is lonely until her alien dream visitor becomes a reality.

The beginning of this book was very fast. I was into it and rooting for Delphine and Haven. After they got together, it became more about saving the human race. I didn’t see that plot coming since Delphine didn’t feel connected to her community. This plot took the fun out of the book for me. I wanted more of the relationship between Delphine and Haven. There was just more community politics than I expected.

"Ice Planet Barbarians" was such a fun read that I had to give this one a try. Such a quick, quirky read!

It was a tad bit "insta-love" for me -- would have loved a tad more character development but overall a really enjoyable read.

This is my first book that I’ve read that has an alien in it, and it was definitely intriguing and the title caught my attention. With that being said, I didn’t know what I was in for!! definitely had the spice effect 🌶️ it definitely caught my interest in the whole book! I look forward to reading more books by this author. This was definitely a genre that I stepped out of my comfort zone and actually enjoyed.

Okay - when I saw this book on @netgalley I was in love with the cover. Who doesn’t love a cute cat in space?!

As I began reading - it was captivating! I loved being taken to another world and putting myself in the shoes of the FMC, Delphine. She was a black cat who didn’t let anyone mess with her. She was a spitfire and boy did our MMC, Haven, love her for it.

The spice was SPICY! I loved it. It honestly played a good role within the storyline that really brought it all together. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a change in genre, a lover of sifi, or someone who loves cats in space!

First off, this is a pretty quick, cute, alien romance. Things start off really spicy and stay that way. I'm hoping that this is the first in a series because I have a lot of questions!

I, personally, felt like this was missing a little something but I can't quite put my name on what it is, exactly. It was cute, though! And it has a lot of promise.

If you like:
▪︎cats
▪︎psychic dreams
▪︎tail play
▪︎alien knots
▪︎world ending
Then you should give this one a shot!

This book was so fun! I read it in one sitting! It has all the alien swoon worthy moments and the species banter is unmatched!!!! I was obsessed with this couple!!! 5 stars no doubt!

Okay this was so unbelievably fun! From start to finish I was having the time of my life! The story was so original, I had never read anything like it and I devoured the whole thing in one sitting. Delphine and Haven had such a sweet relationship. It started when they were young so the familiarity of the two of them was such a good foundation once Haven got to earth and they could be together. The spice was phenomenal and Haven is so obsessed with Delphine, top tier book boyfriend material. Also as a cat lady I’m obsessed with how much the story revolves around cats. It truly was so fun! And Pavarti was such a little character! I loved her! This was such a good book! I hope Rachel decides to write more books in this world because I will be first in line for them!

This book is quite quirky, and a fun alien romance set on a dystopian Earth. A super fun and quick read, I would recommend if you're looking for light hearted romance who's MMC has a tail ;)
Also, cats <3

A fun alien x human romance with an actual plot to give it some backbone.

The author clearly thought out the lore concerning the alien world and the human world which was well done. Aliens trying to save cats everywhere, ingenious.

A romantic relationship 10 years in the making, there’s no calling this one instalove! Our MCs both respect each other’s boundaries and pasts and make for a healthy relationship.

Plus there’s quite a bit of spice!

Cats + alien romance = sign me up.

This book is a quirky, romantic, and fun alien romance set on a dystopian Earth, where 23 year old Delphine has spent a decade dreaming of an alien man who promises to save her from her bleak, doomed life. Everyone tells her she’s imagining things, but then the Eldrin aliens actually arrive, and her not so imaginary soulmate, Haven, makes true on his word, rescuing her…along with the rest of humanity, reluctantly.

Haven originally planned on coming to Earth to save his species’ genetic ancestors, cats, but everything changed when he mind bonded with Delphine ten years before at the start of his journey through the stars. Their connection has been building for years, and unbeknownst to her, he’s been psychically communicating with her beloved cat, Parvati, to keep an eye on her.

I really enjoyed the world building and Earth’s strict Saviour or Server class system. The writing is simple at times, quirky, with some odd reactions from characters, but honestly, the whole book is weird in the best way. There isn’t much conflict or resolution within the story due to the focus on the romance and spice, but it's still a fast paced, easy read that's sure to fulfill your alien rescue/abduction dreams.

Speaking of the romance, it was really cute and I loved how they were together. Haven is protective, possessive and practically worships Delphine. Though Delphine has slept with other people, she only does it as a means of escaping, and heavily relies on going to sleep just to see Haven. Their bond is pretty instantaneous, so when they actually meet it's like we're meeting then halfway through their romance. The spice was definitely interesting, as you'd expect, with Haven's alien biology adding to the strangeness (hello, knotting and tail).

The book wraps up pretty quickly, leaving us feeling fulfilled and feeling happy with the delightful ending and super adorable epilogue. Overall, this was such a quirky, light hearted, easy read that I would recommend!

4/5 🌟

3.5 / 5 Stars

This was a very fun, breezy read! In “Saved By My Alien Husband,” Delphine has been dreaming of Haven for 10 years. Everytime she closes her eyes, she sees her imaginary alien friend who she has the hots for. He tells her that he is coming to Earth for her, which she desperately needs because Earth is becoming more and more uninhabitable. Well, it turns out that he is, in fact, very real and he does come to Earth for her and for the cats, who are the alien’s genetic ancestors. Now Delphine and Haven have to figure out who else gets saved and what life for them and everyone else looks like.

This book really flew by which was great! It was nice to read a story where the conflict wasn’t around whether Delphine and Haven would be together but instead was about them clearly being committed to each other (after ten years of building a relationship) and instead trying to navigate life as a couple. Delphine comes into her own and Haven just really loves and wants to protect his wife. What a treat! This was my first foray into “unique alien anatomy” which was also fun.

Saved by my alien husband is an alien/human romance where for 10 years Delphine believes Haven is imaginary until one day she finds that he is actually real. I wasn't sure what to expect out of this story since I have never read an alien romance before but I enjoyed this and finished it pretty quickly. There was spice but it also had humor at times. I do wish it was a little bit longer with some more detail into the backstory of the characters but overall it was a good read especially for someone's first time reading alien smut.

Thank you to Aria James Publishing, NetGalley, and Rachel H. Drake for the ARC.

All right - I read this because alien smut. And I really wanted to like it because it just seemed like major “my wife” fun energy.

Based on the synopsis, I wasn’t expecting this to make overmuch sense but I found this to read more like 9th grade fan fiction (ninth grade in that at 55% of the way in I’ve no idea about who these characters really are or why they’re in love, it seemed like a mix of sex and “these people treated my wife badly and I’m going to have my father, the king, do something about it” immature revengey - I appreciate the author’s obvious care for her stories but if I’m going to read fan fiction I need more character growth/development and I also need characters to be more than the flimsy, one dimensional like they are here. And the smut was…for me, more awkward than hot.

Other readers may find this to be wonderful; unfortunately, I was not that reader.

Saved by my Alien Husband by Rachel H. Drake was a different type of alien romance.

Earth is dying and Delphine thinks that her alien friend is really imaginary, but Haven is absolutely real and he comes to her to help save her and her cats - his ancient ancestors.

A totally different take on the typical monster type of romance, this was more closed door and sweet, but definitely a quick and fun read.

It can't be bad if everyone loves cats!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for this ARC in lieu of an honest review. Read it, you'll enjoy the book!
