Some like it Scot is the charming tale of Katie and Graham. Katie is an American travel writer who is in Scotland to explore an Edwardian immersive experience. Graham is a Scotsman, through and through, who ends up being thrown into Katie‘s path.
Although I love this charming story, I found the book a little bit disjointed. The second half of the book starts taking on some religious elements that were not present in the first half of the book. The author’s notes at the end of the book talk about how the author started the book and then lost her brother and stopped writing. When she picked up writing the book again, she picked it up with a renewed sense of faith in her life. Unfortunately, at this section in the book, it appears a bit disjointed, and I found that the spiritual element being introduced so late in the book was more of a distraction than an enhancement.
All that said, I did find the story of Katie and Graham, quite charming, and I would highly recommend it, even with the added religious element midway through.

Some Like It Scott is probably the best contemporary romance I ever listened to. It hooked me almost immediately because the heroine, Katie, is very likable, despite being clumsy and well over average height and weight. The secondary characters are just as warm and welcoming and make Katie feel “at home” - someplace she hasn’t felt since her grandparents died - despite being in a foreign country. While listening to the audiobook, expectedly narrated by Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen, I was engaged emotionally - something very rare these days - and I even teared up near the end. I cannot recommend this audiobook enough!!

And all at once, you’re all I want, I’ll never let you go ✈️

This was such a fun read! I thought both of the MCs’ backstories were really fleshed out and tied in seamlessly with the story at hand. I thought Katie in particular was really well written - she was a clumsy, “quirky” character that somehow avoided the “not like other girls” vibe completely. With this book being dual POV, I loved watching both of the characters grow and develop before (and while they are) falling in love.
The audio narrators were both top notch - I would definitely search out other books narrated by them!

A sweet, feel-good romance with just the right balance of humor and heart. The audiobook narration—with those swoon-worthy Scottish accents—makes it even more enjoyable. Pepper Basham’s writing is charming, easy to read, and full of warmth. A perfect cozy read for anyone who loves a little sunshine-and-grump dynamic and a touch of Scotland.

Thankyou Netgalley and Publisher for this ALC.

I found Some Like It Scot obviously different than other rom-coms. I am not a big fan of this genre but sometimes to lighten the mood i do try listening/reading them. Like always i thought it must be the same cliche plot with characters with some traumas and third-act break up. To be honest, it had some of those things but what's most important is, it didn't feel like the others. It was so calming and healing to listen all the stories, myths and traditions of Scotland that it made me add those cities on my bucket list. The pace was not rushed even though it was like 11 hours long? which is actually a long book for me (for romance genre) and i thought whattt?? but when i start listening to it, I didn't feel like that.

I enjoyed reading about Katie so much. i could relate to her thoughts, ambitions and future goals. I loved how much she wasn't actually looking for relationship but when she found one it felt like home to her. I adored her interactions with all residents of craighill especially.... i forgot the name of red haired freckle boy with dog named wedge 😭😭😭.
.
The romance in this book was slow-burn which is my fav!! so everytime the main characters interacted my heart went jumping. it was soo cute.

Overall an alright story, just felt a bit dragging at times. I feel like the Edwardian Experience got a huge backseat and was almost not necessary to the story itself. Also I felt like the religious undertones appeared very suddenly about halfway through and then were constantly thrown in. The narrators were good except having family from Waynesville North Carolina exactly I can tell you they all pronounce Appalachia Apple-Latch-Uh not Apple-lay-shuh. It’s a very regional thing from the mountains there in North Carolina and Tennessee, so that stuck out to me more than it should!

If you love any and all things Scotland, adorable bookshops, grumpy/sunshine, uplifting your faith, feel good sweet romance, then you are definitely gonna love this book. I loved the banter, the Scottish lore. Pepper Basham does a fantastic job bringing her characters to life. You feel as if you know them personally, it’s almost as if you’re a part of the story with them.
This book is an absolute five star.
I adored the narration. The narrators nailed this performance. The accents, the chemistry, the banter it all felt so fluid and real. 5⭐️ narration as well.

I went into this book expecting something different than it was. First, I was unaware of how Christian based the story would be. While I am fine with zero spice or closed door romance, the constant mention of God and church took me out of the story, often.
The narrator’s were great and I appreciated the Scottish accents!

Hands down, I thoroughly enjoyed every "page" of this read by Pepper Basham! Misadventures seem to follow Katie, a travel writer from the US, where ever her stories take her and going to Scotland - the misadventures abound at every turn.
I love how the narrators change (female) for Katie's perspective and (male) for Graeme's perspective (the male lead aka "the Hot Scot" who's grumpy and always seems to be in the right spot for all of Katie's Misadventures) to then weave both into one warm heart/sweet romance.
Pepper Basham has a great way of turn of phases to bring some comedic charm to this read/love story. I just enjoyed everything about it and could defiantly see this being a Hallmark/GAF movie! ;)

This was ca-yute. Nothing special about it so just another run-of-the-mill contemporary romance. The audio was great for the MMC narrator and his Scottish brogue. *swoon* This is a closed door Christian romance and I'm totally fine with closed door or door taken off the hinges whatever I'm here for th story not the sex or no sex. I was afraid there would be more God talk actually and it was only a few times so I didn't mind it.

When adventure-loving travel writer Katie Campbell is offered the chance to connect with her ancestral roots
I absolutely love Pepper Basham’s books—they’re always light, beautiful, and full of hope. Some Like It Scot was no exception. Basham has such a gift for creating a setting that feels like a warm escape, and her faith elements are woven in so naturally that they touch your heart without ever feeling forced.
Katie was such a relatable character—strong and adventurous, yet still working through the things that weigh her down. Graeme, too, had his own emotional journey, and I really enjoyed the slow burn of their connection. The family dynamics, sweet moments, and strong sense of community added so much depth to the story. This felt like a vacation in book form—cozy, inspiring, and full of grace.
If you’re looking for a sweet, faith-filled read with heart and humor, Some Like It Scot will absolutely charm you.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this early copy!

This book was a delight! I loved all the characters including the curator of the “Edwardian Experience” that our heroine travels to Scotland to write about. The MMC was the perfect grumpy Scot and paired wonderfully with the accident prone FMC. This book definitely needs to be added to your TBR, especially if you like various popular TV shows/books that are set in Scotland. Listening to the audio was the way to go too as you get hear all the accents. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the chance to read this book early.

Text-
I generally like to go into books blind and I actually didn’t realize this was a Christian romance. Not to say there’s anything wrong with it, but it’s not a genre I generally read so it took me a bit off guard when those parts came up. But that’s on me!
The premise was fun. It reminded me of the movie Austenland. Though there seemed to be a lot of life changes going on.
The FMC was okay. Some parts of her character were okay. But honestly I kind of found her annoying and a bit too emotional. I like the MMC though.
Audiobook-
It’s duel narration which is nice. I enjoyed the MMCs accent (not knowing any actual Irish folks it seemed pretty good to me).
I don’t know if it was the book itself but this audiobook felt really long.

Another Pepper Basham title that did not disappoint! This beautiful and light story still manages to pull at your heart strings and connect with the characters on such a personal level you can’t help but root for them from the first moment of meeting them.
Traveling through Scotland with Katie Campbell is quite an adventure. You can’t help but smile and laugh at her “mis”adventures. Stina Nielsen was a captivating narrator of Katie’s adventure. Beautifully done.
Plus a burly hot Scot….yes please! Graeme has layers but underneath it all is a beautiful heart just needing to be found. And Joshua Manning’s voice is so swoony! Listening to him portray Graeme gave me all the feels.
All in all, a heartfelt story that leaves you with the HEA!

Pepper Basham's *Some Like It Scot* is an absolute delight, blending heartfelt romance, humor, and the enchanting allure of Scotland into a story that feels like a warm embrace. The audiobook format brings the characters to life with vivid narration, making every moment immersive and captivating. Katie Campbell, the adventurous travel writer, and Graeme MacKerrow, the stoic yet endearing Scotsman, are a match made in storytelling heaven. Their journey of self-discovery and love is beautifully woven against the backdrop of the Edwardian experience in Scotland. The narration captures Katie's misadventures and Graeme's gruff charm perfectly, making their chemistry palpable. The supporting characters, especially little Lachlan, add depth and charm to the story, creating a sense of found family that warms the heart. Basham's humor shines through, with laugh-out-loud moments that are balanced by poignant reflections on home, belonging, and bravery. The audiobook's narration enhances the experience, bringing the Scottish setting and accents to life in a way that feels authentic and magical. Whether you're a fan of romance, Scotland, or simply great storytelling, *Some Like It Scot* is a must-listen that will leave you smiling and swooning.

This book was such a cozy romance. And I love anything Scotland in books, especially when it's done this well. Humor, found family and it just hits all the feels.

I definitely like it Scot! This book was so much fun! I LOVED the male narrator with his deep Scottish brogue. I’m so glad I was able to listen to the audiobook because the accents really enhanced the experience.
I was intrigued with the “misadventures” Katie, the travel writer, experienced as she toured the world. It was hilarious whenever she casually mentioned any of them.
I loved Katie and Graeme together and their meet cute was PERFECT! Katie’s puns and Graeme’s Scottish sayings kept me laughing throughout the whole story.
The premise was so fun. The setting was modern day Scotland with an “Austenland”-like resort where they are dressing and acting like they live in the Edwardian era. It was full of lovable side characters and humorous situations. I highly recommend picking up this cute and engaging story.

BOOK REVIEW: “Some Like it Scot” by Pepper Basham
Katie Campbell is a travel blogger who is in Scotland for her most recent assignment, and is eager to share both her adventures and misadventures with her followers. She’s ecstatic to stay at historic Craighill House, getting to dress up in the Edwardian era style dresses! She didn’t plan to literally bump right into Graeme and break the banister! Just one more misadventure, right?
Graeme is your typical burly, grumpy, Scottish man complete with an adorable Scottish accent and vernacular. Since Katie is spending so much of her time at the manor that Graeme’s family owns, it’s inevitable that they will be spending a lot of time together. It’s your classic grumpy versus sunshine story!
I thought this book was so much fun! What girl doesn’t love to read about a tall, handsome Scottish man with a thick accent? There was so much chemistry between Graeme and Katie, and even though it’s a Christian book and very low spice, there’s plenty of romance!
Katie was incredibly relatable. She’s a tall, (think 6 foot) curvy woman who has her own set of insecurities but also learns to embrace them and love herself for who she is. Graeme is grumpy to most people but has such a soft spot for Katie and his nephew, Lachlan.
Trigger warnings: there are minor trigger warnings of death of a loved one from cancer. It doesn’t go deep into details though.
This book was super cute, and laugh out loud funny at times. Definitely give this one a try! I rate this book as 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Scottish isle romance with a grumpy carpenter and a misfortune magnet travel writer.
This book was not what I was expecting, it was super Christian, like they went on a date to church, talked quite extensively about prayer, and wouldn't even say she fell on her bum/arse ("softest spot", like, stop it) I'm not sure how much more religious you can get in a romance novel. I feel this should be included in the blurb.
Other than that, it was quite contrived, and the banter wasn't bantering.
I'm sure this might work for some, but it was not for me.
The audiobook narrators did a fine job, but still wasn't enough to get me to enjoy this book. I will say the female authors Scottish accent was not good though.

I read the e-book version of this book first, and I loved every minute of it. The audiobook made me love it even more! The voice actors are wonderful! I absolutely adore Josh Manning and his Scottish accent for bringing Graeme to life. It was so fun to listen to, even though I'd already read it once. Of course, listening to the grumpy/sunshine banter, accents and all, makes the experience even better. This little trip to Scotland is super fun and adorable!
