I almost passed this up as it is listed as CHRISTIAN and I thought it was going to be Evangelical in nature. It is not. While there are a few very brief statements about God and Jesus, they are more as exclamations rather than "in your face". Honestly, if I hadn't known the category, I would not have known.

As with the most recent Scottish romance stories, the author paints a beautiful picture of the landscape.

This is a CLEAN romance with found family, funny moments, cute kids and a sweet dog. Oh and a sexy Scotsman.

There are a few threads in the story that I felt were unnecessary as they were really for connections to the past, but overall I enjoyed the story

Narration was dual POV and both narrators carried the experience in a lovely way.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I am adding her to my "authors to read" list.

Any time I can get my hands on a cozy rom com set in Scotland, I'm going to devour it. Even more so if it is an audiobook version narrated by a voice actor with a great Scottish lilt. Enter, Some Like It Scot - with wellies, hairy coos, sheep, and of course, a homey bookshop.

I feel like "Hateful Highlander to Hot Scot" should be a formally recognized romance trope at this point, as it seems to be a common theme amongst the USA/Canadian/UK woman visits Scotland storyline. And I'm here for it. Our FMC, Katie, travels to Scotland for work as a travel writer/blogger entering an Edwardian experience. There are a few mishaps along the way, but they lead Katie to learning more about herself - and about what she wants (perhaps a hot Scot?) out of life. I caught myself laughing a lot, and have even more desire to visit Scotland someday thanks to the settings described by Pepper Basham.

There is mention of faith throughout, which I rather enjoyed, but isn't predominant enough that someone couldn't enjoy it who is not into faith based books.

Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen did an amazing job with this audiobook! My favorite part about the narration is that they each voiced their own character's lines, even if it was in the others POV. It made it much easier to stay rooted in the storyline throughout, and creates a cohesiveness that I really enjoyed. Since I listened a lot while driving, the contrasting American accent and Scottish accents were absolutely delightful.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson/Zondervan Fiction Audio for an audiobook arc!

it was fun to read about katie's missadventures, but sadly, the book was a miss for me.
i didn't find myself fully immersed in the story. it felt repetitive, and i often found myself just skimming through it. the story lacked romance - it was definitely a slow burn, which i don't mind, but i was hoping that katie and graeme's relationship would progress more.

the plot itself was really bland, i just kept waiting for something to happen.
at some point in the story, christian themes start to show up, but they weren't presented in an overly preachy way, so i didn't feel overwhelmed by them.

the vivid descriptions of scotland's landscape were portrayed so beautifully. they made me want to take a trip there.
i really enjoyed the narration in this book. the voice actors performed exceptionally well, and i particularly liked the scottish accent, which added to the immersive atmosphere. overall, it was mostly the narration that kept me engaged because the story itself didn't really hold my attention.

to sum up - i think i wasn't the target audience, but if you enjoy light romance, christian themes and a beautiful setting - maybe you'll like this one.

This heartfelt story was full of laughs and tears. The author touches on some heavy topics but they are done with funny puns.

We follow Katie a travel writer who doesn’t long to settle down due to not feeling loved by people in her life and dealing with some buried grief. Until she goes on this whimsical assignment and finds a Scot and his family who welcome her with an overwhelming love.

There are a few triggers but they are done with respect and grace:

Grief
Sibling lost
Child lost

Tropes:
Grumpy/Sunshine
He falls first
Damsel in Distress
Tall FMC
Single Parent

I would recommend this to the person looking for a light hearted rom-com full of tough topics and belly laughs.

This book gave me exactly what I was looking for—a sweet, springtime romance with all the charm of the Scottish Highlands. If you’ve ever wished Jamie and Claire from Outlander could have fallen for each other without all the violence and crudeness (and with a more faith-filled, wholesome touch), this is that book.

The whole Edwardian experience setup reminded me a lot of Jane Austenland—a fun, immersive trip into the past, but with real emotions and personal growth at its core. Katie and her grumpy-but-lovable Scot were an absolute delight, and I loved that the romance had depth without relying on frustrating miscommunication tropes (thank you for that!). It had a little bit of a Hallmark feel but with two actual grownups who know how to have real conversations—plus, throw in an adorable orphaned nephew, and my heart was done.

If you’re in the mood for a feel-good, faith-filled romance with Scottish charm (and a touch of Jane Austenland vibes), Some Like It Scot is a perfect pick.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook!

I will start this by saying that I sometimes have a hard time with accents in audiobooks. I have a hard time following and sometimes it takes me out of the story completely. This is NOT the case with Some Like it Scot. The dual points of view and dual narrators all worked so well together. I really liked the premise of a travel writer who is always on the move because she never felt like she belonged. Enter a grumpy Scot or change Katie's world. Will the Scott give Katie a reason to stay in one place and put down roots?

This book was adorable! I was in the mood for a cute, heartfelt story and this book fit the bill. I love Pepper Basham's writing and feel impressed with each new book she writes; Some Like It Scot did not disappoint and I highly recommend it.
What I loved in this book the most was the healing and character growth both main characters experience. I thought it was really neat how the author had both characters dealing with grief from losing a sibling and how though they shared a common loss, their experiences and grief were so personal. It really gave a lot of depth to the story.
Even though there were these deeper themes, the humor in this story was spot on. I loved the book club grannies, dear Lachlan with Wedge, and the whole host of memorable secondary characters. The misadventures were hilarious and for me, relatable. I would totally want to follow Katie and her travel stories in real life. The romantic tension between Katie and Graeme was there from the start and boy did I love the way the romance played out and that happily ever after ending. Graeme's grand gesture just made me smile.
I listened to the audiobook version of this novel and wow! Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen knocked it out of the park. I about melted listening to Manning and the Scottish brogue he gave Graeme. Like I could just put this on and listen to him talk forever. This is one audiobook I'll have on repeat and I completely recommend.
I received an advance listening copy of this book from Netgalley, Thomas Nelson, and Zondervan fiction audio. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As I am someone fascinated by certain points in history, I would be all over a real Edwardian Highland experience and that’s just how Katie (love her name 😉) finds herself in Scotland. Is this adventure as amazing as she had hoped it would be? Let’s just say that all that glitters isn’t gold, including a sullen Scot named Graeme, but it did provide a lot of entertainment and I LOVED the narrators.

This slight enemies-to-love vibe is rolled with sugar and spice, creating the most delicious cinnamon roll hero to exist. I adored these characters and their personalities fascinated me.

There are so many opposites with this duo–one longs for home and familiarity while the other aches for exploration; one finds himself a parent to a precocious nephew while the other lives carefree; one is full of sunshine and light and the other is filled with reality and grumpiness. But this story that showcases all things Scotland allows for these characters to bond over a common thread of loss.

Witty connections full of banter and chemistry tie this sweet story together in such a lovely way. I read did thoroughly enjoy the narrators.

Content: mild religion; mild romance; mild moment of peril

Review: Some Like It Scot — and Honestly? Same.

Normally, I don’t reach for Christian romance, but I couldn’t resist the temptation of an audiobook featuring a Scottish accent.
Ach, 'tis ma weakness, ye ken.
(Apologies tae the Scots, I ken it’s a wee bit off.)

That said, this was my first time listening to a book by Pepper Basham, and I can confidently say—it won’t be my last.

I was immediately charmed by the setup: enter Katie, an untypical travel writer sent on a very particular assignment—a fully immersive Edwardian vacation, complete with all the upper-crust trappings of a bygone era.

But no one was prepared for Katie being, well… Katie.

She’s accident-prone, a magnet for misadventures, and absolutely not the dainty, delicate guest her hosts were expecting. Oh no—Katie is a statuesque, curvy goddess whose height could clear cobwebs I’ve accepted as permanent residents in my home. And yet, beneath her bold exterior and clever wit lies a woman carrying deep, unresolved family wounds—someone who just wants one simple, extraordinary thing: unconditional love.

Scotland becomes more than just a setting—it becomes a turning point. And Graeme, along with his incredible family, helps Katie realize something beautiful: that home isn't always a place. Sometimes, it's people. And sometimes, the greatest misadventures bring us the greatest gifts of all.

I’m not the most religious person, but I’m a firm believer that the Lord guides us where we need to go—not always where we want to go.

Katie’s wanderlust may have seemed like a way to escape the broken pieces of her past—the grief, the family wounds that never quite had space to heal. But in the end, this one unexpected journey became the very path that led her home—not just to a place, but to healing, to connection, to herself.

The audiobook narration brought this story to life in such a rich and immersive way. The accents, the emotion, and the personality each narrator infused into the characters made this not just a book to listen to—but one to feel.

This is such a sweet, cute read. I listened to the audio version and loved the voice actors, they kept me engaged the whole time (the accent was a lovely bonus). I enjoyed how this was a Christian romance with no spice. The plot was fun and the characters were enjoyable. There were moments that were a bit long and it felt like it dragged. Overall, a fun read that makes you want to visit Scotland!

Katie Campbell is a travel writer and podcaster known to her fans as Miss Adventure. She loves to gather stories from the people and places she finds along the way. She also shares her own stories, or “misadventures”, if you will. However, Katie is careful to not put down any roots, never staying long enough to become attached to one place.
Graeme MacKerrow, on the other hand, has grown deep roots. He is very protective of his Scottish homeland and his family. He rarely even leaves the island where he lives.
Katie literally falls into Graeme’s strong arms at his ancestral home, where she is on assignment, attending an immersive Edwardian experience. Katie continues to live up to her moniker, Miss Adventure, and Graeme seems to be working double time to keep her alive. But what happens when Katie’s assignment ends? Will she ever return to Scotland? Will she ever see Graeme again?
I enjoyed this audiobook. I’m sure I would have struggled with pronunciations had I read a text copy. Hearing Graeme’s accent in Joshua Manning’s narration helped to bring the story to life. And Stina Nielsen represented Katie well.
This was a fun story with some pretty hilarious incidents. This Christian Romance novel is a sweet romantic comedy. While swoon-worthy, it is not spicy. However, I feel like religion was incorporated into the story as an afterthought. About 40% of the way through the story, all of a sudden the main characters were talking about God and church. It wasn’t very organic. I think spirituality could have been included more naturally.

Last year I read Loyally, Luke and completely fell in love with @pepperbasham ! So when I saw Some Like it Scot on @netgalley I automatically placed a request!

This book is such a fun, heartwarming read! I absolutely adored Katie’s adventurous spirit (and her knack for getting into mishaps), and Graeme’s gruff but oh-so-sweet personality totally won me over! Their banter had me grinning, and the slow building relationship gave me all the warm fuzzies! But this story really had so much heart, touching on some difficult but very real topics! I loved the aspects of the story like loving yourself, finding your home, healing from loss, and learning to let people in.

And let’s talk about the setting! Pepper’s descriptions of Scotland were absolute perfection and made me want to book a trip ASAP!

With Graeme’s charming nephew and mother, a clumsy Highland Coo, a conniving frenemy, and the perfect cozy small-town feel, this is definitely a book I’d recommend! Watch for its release on April 8th!

*I have to give credit to Pepper for the cute couple pictured in the bottom photo! She has so many fantastic teasers and images on her page! You totally need to go check them all out!

Huge thank you to Netgalley and @thomasnelson & Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to listen to the advanced audiobook! All opinions are my own.

Loved the narration. Both narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. I loved hearing the different characters the female voice talent created. So good. It felt like a cast of characters, and not a singular narrator. Male voice talent brought an amazing reality with his beautiful Scottish accent. Well done! Loved pairing this with the e book!

Pepper Basham's Some Like it Scot is a true delight! There are heartfelt messages throughout the story, a true hurt/comfort romance for both of the main characters.

There's some lovely family drama which I thoroughly enjoyed. And Basham's descriptions of this remote region of Scotland are vivid and engaging.

The audio version of Some Like it Scot is beautifully performed by Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen. Both narrators do a solid job with all the different accents, but I have to give an extra shout out to Manning whose "Katie" is just outstanding.

It's a cute setup but unfortunately I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters and didn't care much about them...
Graeme felt also less developed compared to Katie? Their inner conflicts were fine but didn't combine well with the romance in my opinion
I also overlooked that it's a Christian romance, which is on me! I didn't mind that it's a very clean romance but the random interjected references to their faith was throwing me off, but that's a personal criticism, I think other readers could enjoy that
I liked the accents in the audiobook tho, that was fine

Incredibly fun, heartwarming and full of so much joy.

Graeme and Katie were so easy to love. Katie was hilarious and so relatable . Graeme had so many layers and it was a joy to read his perspective throughout the book. The secondary characters added so much to the story. They warmed my heart in many ways and I felt like I was in Mull having a cup of tea with them. The ending is so much better than I had hoped! It was realistic and I truly didn't want this to end.

The audiobook was fantastic. It is dual narration by Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen. The accents were spot on and they both did a great job bringing the story to life.

I laughed, I cried and I enjoyed every second of this adorable story.

Happy Sigh!!!! Y'all, this book!!! Soooo good! I know I should think of better descriptive words than "soooo good," but it's very true! I just adored this book so much! Oops, there I go again with the "so's." Sorry, not sorry. I loved this one so much that this is my second read/listen through. Yes, I read it first and then I was given an early audiobook copy and loved being pulled back into this sweet world of Katie Campbell's! She made me smile and cry and laugh! I just adored her character so much. She brought a light with her everywhere she went and helped to lighten the loads of those around her. Especially a really grump Scot. Hahaha! But it just goes to show that she shines brightly that this surly Scot couldn't help but notice and be affected.

Oh my heart!!! I loved every scene with Katie and Graeme in it. And every moment that they are thinking of each other, especially when trying NOT to think of the other.

You'll love the spark and chemistry and tension between these two. As well as the friendship that develops and then continues to grow into a sweet love story. Awwww! These two just compliment each other perfectly. They bring balance to each other. And fill the needs of each other's hearts and souls. Perfection!

The narrators of the audiobooks brought the story to life so beautifully! Their inflections and the emotions that they added made it that much more enjoyable! If you can't tell, I'm hooked and a big fan of this book!

Pick it up and be transported to the beautiful hills and crags of Scotland! You won't want to leave!

Content: Clean. Some sweet kisses but nothing further.

I absolutely enjoyed Katie and her #hotscot! I will be adding this to my shell, most definitely. The love story was by far well written. The narrator is one of my favorites and I think she did an amazing job! Thank you for the chance to review.

This is my second time reading this book- this time I listened to the audio. It's just as wonderful the second time through- with tears.

Katie, an accident-prone American travel writer, heads to Scotland for a three-week “Edwardian experience” and meets a grumpy yet handsome Scot named Graeme in a hilariously awkward encounter. This adorable book blends sweet romance with deeper themes of home and grief, making it a delightful read.

The supporting characters on the island add charm, and I’m really hoping for more stories about Graeme’s family! If you're after a clean romance filled with witty banter, stunning scenery, funny moments, and a satisfying ending, this is the book for you. Plus, I found myself wanting a Highland Cow by the end!

The male narrator’s accent truly enhanced the experience, and I loved exploring the Scottish countryside while getting to know the rich backstories of the main characters. Highly recommended!
