What a fun trip to Scotland. This slow burn romance has so much love and lore woven into the characters.
Katie Campbell has traveled her entire life. As the daughter of an army chaplain, changing homes--or even countries--was commonplace, so when her wild childhood storytelling turned into a lucrative career as a travel writer, she thought she'd found her perfect match. But as she's nearly thirty with no real place to settle down, she's starting to wonder where "home" actually is. Her own family hadn't felt like home since her sister's death left them all limping through life.
When a lengthy project in Scotland promises to not only give her travel fodder for months but also a shot at a coveted editing position, she accepts and is sent to spend three weeks in the newly created Craighill House, a Scottish home redesigned to offer guests an Edwardian experience. But her entrance to Craighill introduces her to a quirky group of characters and a surly Scot who is helping refurbish the magnificent woodwork of the estate house.
As Katie attempts to live "Edwardian," she learns that all that glitters does not a comfortable lifestyle make . . . and surly Scots may turn out to be dashing and creative uncles raising their orphaned nephews. When a few escapades from the Downton era lead Katie on hunts for mermaids and dragons or to a fireside chat with a family who has grown stronger through tragedy, Katie begins to wonder if "home" looks a whole lot like rolling green hills, magnificent braighs, and a few extra "ayes" thrown in for good measure. But can her world-traveling lifestyle fit in with a Scot whose heart is double-knotted to home?

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a charming contemporary romance that seamlessly blends humor, heart, and swoon-worthy moments. Set against a gorgeous Scottish backdrop, it blends humor, heart, and swoon-worthy moments. Perfect for fans of clean and wholesome romance.

This was unfortunately a let down for me. The female narrator put me to sleep. Nothing about the characters or story kept me entertained enough to care.

This book was a really easy read and I really enjoyed it. The story itself was fun and light hearted for the most part. Katie is on a journey of self discovery and realization that she is worth the good things life has to offer. The only thing that felt a little out of place was the religion thing that started about half way through. It felt like it came out of left field. It would have felt more cohesive if Katie would have been religious from the beginning of the book. Godβs importance to characters felt like an after thought that the author threw in last minute. Overall this book was a quick read that I would definitely recommend to others. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this arc I loved the duel pov and the narratorβs did a fantastic job.

This is the first book I've read from Pepper Basham and I was not disappointed. The story was fun and entertaining. I couldn't stop listening because I wanted to know what Katie would get herself into next!. This is so much more than a love story. Katie is on a journey of self discovery and finding out what home means to her and it was such a treat to watch her learn and grow and come into her own.
If you like slow burn you'd love this book. The anticipation, the build up the banter was top tier. The setting, the animals, the mishaps, the setups made for this to easily be a 3 1/2 star read that I would recommend.

I always love book based in fun destinations so when I saw this slow burn sweet romance in Scotland it was an instant yes. This story follows two characters both who are dealing with loss in different ways and sheds a beautiful light on how we all process grief differently. I love both characters and how they bring balance to each other in different ways. You even get the knight on the shinning white horse moment, iykyk. Really fun book with a lots of depth and character growth. Plus the narration was spectacular and added so much to this story.

Katie is an American travel author and sheβs in Scotland the next 3 weeks for an immerse Edwardian Experience. Katie is known for her mishaps, she canβt help that trouble seems to find her and this trip will be no different. Well maybe slightly different as a grumpy Scot seems to keep saving her.
Graeme broke off his engagement, loss his sister and took in his nephew - life has thrown one thing after another at him the last few years. Now heβs renting out his familyβs house to earn enough to hopefully renovate it in the future. He is protective of his family and has no plans to ever leave Scotland. Then an American falls into his life literally and he starts to see the possibility of more.
Check out Katie & Graemeβs story when it Releases

DNF @46 % I got this as an arc from NetGalley.
I got both the audio and the ebook. I liked the narrators for the audio but did not like the writing. I found myself not paying attention because I wasnβt interested so I decided to call it quits.

I feel like Katie and I would be good friends in real life! I loved how feisty she was. She is such an adventurer as a travel writer! Who also doesnβt love a grumpy highlander too?? Grahamβs broody yet teddy bear demeanor was so adorable! I really enjoyed how the author painted the scenery! I felt like I was actually walking through the Scottish highlands. There is a theme of grief that both the main characters deal with which also helped create a sense of connection.
I do suggest if you can, listen to the audiobook too! The MMCβs voice is like butter! I really enjoyed the Outlander and Downton Abbey references!

In this book, we follow Katie, a travel blogger whose next adventure takes her to Mull, Scotland, for a three-week Edwardian experience. As she immerses herself in the charm and eccentricity of the Scottish Highlands, she finds herself drawn to Graeme MacKerrowβa man determined to save his familyβs ancestral home and protect the people he loves.
While I enjoyed the book overall, I did have a few issues. At times, the story felt repetitive, though not to the point of ruining my enjoyment. I also struggled to fully connect with the characters and their romance, which made it difficult to appreciate some of the more emotional moments. I think this was partly because the story leaned a little too lighthearted for me, especially considering some of the situations Katie found herself in.
I almost DNFed the book within the first 20% due to difficulties connecting with the writing style, but switching to the audiobook was a game changer. The story worked perfectly in this format, and I ended up binging the last 80% in less than 24 hours. The narrators did an amazing job bringing the story and characters to life.
Even though I didnβt connect with the story 100%, I still found it enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming, clean romance. It explores themes of grief, self-worth, and family dysfunction while maintaining a lighthearted tone.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for providing a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Unfortunately this is a DNF for me. The story seemed interesting and I never say no to a story set in Scotland, but there was far too much about their faith in this book.
And it was a random start to it. Around the 40% mark is our first real mention of her belief in God. Next thing she's saying all she knows about sheep she learned from the Bible.
Now they are talking about going to Church together.
And at half way in, we have only heard inner monolog about their attraction to each other. Is is very slow.
All in all, not for me.

Another heartwarming, dual POV love story from a fav author about Katie, an accident-prone, globe-trotting travel blogger and Graham, the #HotScot who owns the estate she's come to write about on the Isle of Mull.
This book was full of hilarious moments, a meddlesome parrot, Edwardian re-enactments, a scene stealing little boy, swoony moments and excellent grief rep (both main characters have lost siblings). I loved the charming setting, learning more about the Isle of Mull and the large cast of side characters.
It was good on audio and is sure to delight all the armchair travel enthusiasts looking for their own Jamie Fraser and a Scottish HEA. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
Steam level: kissing only

Thank you to NetGalley, Pepper Basham, and Thomas Nelson & Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to review this audiobook.
Pepper Basham delivers an enchanting romance filled with adventure, personal growth, and undeniable chemistry. The story follows a spirited travel journalist who has spent years exploring the world, capturing breathtaking destinations through her words. Her vivid, sometimes overly dramatic descriptions add a layer of charm to her characterβthough some readers may find her youthful energy more fitting for a sixteen-year-old than a seasoned globetrotter.
In contrast, the male lead is her complete oppositeβgrounded, responsible, and carrying the weight of his family's expectations. As the eldest son, duty has shaped his every decision, making his interactions with the free-spirited journalist both compelling and dynamic. Their differences create an engaging push-and-pull romance, filled with moments of humor, tension, and undeniable attraction.
The audiobook experience enhances the storytelling even further. The narrators were fantastic, bringing each character to life with distinct voices, emotion, and perfect pacing. Their performances added depth to the characters, making their journey even more immersive and engaging.
Basham's writing shines with immersive settings, heartfelt themes, and a romance that tugs at the heartstrings. While the heroineβs personality may feel a bit exaggerated at times, her journey of growth and self-discovery is rewarding. Readers who enjoy opposites-attract romances with emotional depth and swoon-worthy moments will find plenty to love here.
Perfect for fans of travel-infused love stories and character-driven romance, this audiobook is a delightful escape into a world of adventure and unexpected love.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the audio ARC
I did love the audio! The narrators did a great job embodying the characters. It flowed nicely and I loved their voices.
The story tho was a little juvenile for me. Katie was cute but I just had a hard time connecting. I know Piper is a Christian writer since Iβve read several books by her. I just felt like this story could have been told in half the pages. Want a bad book just wasnβt a book for me.

I was not able to get this in regular ebook, only audio. Otherwise it looks really cute and I appreciate the early read. Thank you to Netgalley and I Hope to read it soon!

Surprisingly enough, this was my first ever read by Pepper Basham and it certainly did not disappoint! As soon as I started reading, I could tell that I loved her writing style. It instantly pulled me into the story and kept me highly entertained until the end! Pepperβs talent with descriptive writing painted such a vivid picture of beautiful Scotland in my mindβs eye.
This book had some of my favorite tropes including a grumpy/sunshine trope that was absolute perfection! I loved that the FMC was not your average, petite character but rather 6β tall and βwell-builtβ π€ The fact that Graeme was able to make her feel small was the best! The meet-cute was one of the best meet-cutes Iβve read in a while; it really showed off the main characterβs personalities to a T π
Katie didnβt have a place she considered home and traveling the world for a job certainly didnβt help matters. When she arrives in Scotland and falls instantly in love with the raw beauty of the country and possibly a local Scotsman, could she possibly begin to consider setting down roots? Katieβs life has had its fair share of pain and quite a bit more than its fair share of mishaps, or misadventures as she dubs them. Can she finally find peace and healing in the beautiful country of Scotland? Can she possibly trust someone enough with her brokenness and choose to stay with them?
Graeme was the perfect counterpart for vivacious Katie, with all of her wildness and misadventures. His was a calm and easygoing life now made a bit more wild by a certain redheaded American, but he was able to be that strong and secure presence she needed in her life. Graeme had his fair share of hurts and pain over the years as well and I love that they were able to finally find some semblance of healing together β₯οΈ
This book showed such real and raw relationships of people with God. Itβs one of those stories you can easily relate to because youβve been through similar struggles. I love how the characters made such an effort to truly seek God and make Him an active part of their lives.
This book was breathtakingly beautiful β₯οΈ It gave off Tea With Elephants by Robin Jones Gunn vibes π₯Ή I highlighted so many beautiful quotes in this book!
