Very cute romance!!

I will read almost anything set in Scotland so are we shocked I requested this? lol

This relationship was so cute! I loved them both together, the romance progressed really well. I just loved the characters a lot. I love how there was a focus on grief in the book I thought Basham did a great job with it!

The audiobook has two narrators (Joshua Manning & Stina Nielson) for both POV's which both were great, I always love when we have two or more narrators.

Fancy a trip to the highlands for an immersive Edwardian experience? Katie Campbell aka Miss Adventure has gotten an invite and she is looking forward to three weeks on Mull. What she does not plan on finding there is a hot Scot named Graeme. Before she knows it her followers are matching her up for better or worse. And with Katie's talent for finding trouble, there seems to be more of the latter. The cast of characters includes locals and other influencers. The ladies in the knitting club are a hoot (led by Graeme's deam mum Mirren). And young Lachlan with his faithful dog companion Wedge -- what a dear lad! I would love to give him a hug.🤗

With every book I read by Pepper Basham, I am becoming more of a fan. This new release gives one all the feels as it is in turns sweet, sassy, stirring, and spellbinding. Definitely makes me want to add Scotland to my travel list.😎

There we have it, folks! Proof that I can enjoy a Scottish tale on audio. I have suspected as much for some time. The dazzling narration of Stina Nelson as Katie Campbell and Joshua Manning as Graeme MacKerrow seals the deal. So glad I decided to pair the digital ARC with an audio copy. That Scottish brogue is like butter! 🧈

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and NetGalley for my digital and audio ARCs. All opinions are my own.

Pepper Basham does it AGAIN!!! This book has a little bit of everything that I love! Scotland - yep!, quirky characters who make me laugh and fall in love with them - yep!, found family - yep!, and a sweet story that makes my heart feel happy, made me laugh and brought me so much joy while reading it - yep!!!!! This is a heartfelt story about self-discovery, grief, finding home in the right people and not necessarily a specific place, and being accepted and loved for who you are. This is a must read, especially if you loved the Skymar series!! 4 🌟's!!! Thank you for another AMAZING book! I loved it!!

Katie is an American travel writer who goes by the name of Miss Adventures. She up for anything in her travels however is a bit prone to accidents and clumsiness which provides great authentic content.

Graeme is the rugged, strong Scottish man whose family owns the manor for Katie's next experience. Graeme is just trying to provide for his family.

Both Katie and Graeme are struggling with grief and loss. Katie is struggling with finding her "home" and where she belongs.

I enjoyed the push and pull between Katie and Graeme, the significance of side characters and the beautiful location character of Scotland. This story had beautiful writing, expressive imagery and evoked powerful emotions. It is difficult finding your place in the world, finding your people and not taking personal what you cannot change in others (easier said then done). Really enjoyed the audio and the narrators were perfect for the story.

I didn't realize that this was a Christian story as well however it ended up being the exact story I needed right now. Look forward to more from this author and the narrators.

This book!
Made me laugh, made me cry, made me think... the main character is so relatable and nice. I loved her so much! All the characters were interesting and easy to love and had so much color of they own. The talks about Good and family were so close to home that was like being home 💕
I will read this author back list so much now!

This is a perfect sweet, Scottish romcom. It deals with a travel writer and a homebound Scot trying to reconcile what they really want from life and if their feelings for each other could ever change that. It is fun to read and deals with some heavy things (loss of sibling, family relationships, body image, coping mechanism of running away, etc) in very thoughtful and purposeful ways. Fun read!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Audio & Pepper Basham for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest review.

Some Like It Scot was a sweet little tourism romance. I mean, who wouldn't/couldn't fall for that stature and accent? I enjoyed it and thought it would make an adorable Hallmark movie.

I appreciated how the two MCs shared their grief with the loss of their respective siblings. The puns were a little excessive.

While this is labeled as a Christian book- their faith was used as a source of peace and guidance. Some Thomas Nelson classified as Christian books I've read have been heavy on the sanctimony and judgment. This one was not that.

The audio was well done with dual narration. The Scottish accent from the MMC really brought it all to life.

I listened to the audio version of "Some Like It Scot" by Pepper Basham and had a wonderful experience! The narrators, Stina Nielsen and Joshua Manning, were absolutely perfect and I enjoyed their portrayals of Katie, Graeme, and every character in between. They did a great job of bringing the story to life.

The story revolves around Katie Campbell who happens to be a popular travel writer with a penchant for getting into all sorts of mishaps wherever she goes. Her fans lovingly dubbed her "Miss Adventure" and she has built her career around the clever moniker (and her humorous bad luck). When her latest travel assignment brings her to Scotland, Katie quite literally bumps into Graeme MacKerrow and from there her next wholesome misadventure begins.

Pepper Basham has a gentle way with words when she writes about sibling grief and healing, both of which are topics that are woven throughout this story. She also has the perfect balance of clean romance, humor, and faith that are all very well written from start to finish. I will absolutely reach for another book by this author the next chance I get!

One of my favorite quotes in this book:
"May you turn your misadventures into the best adventures."

Katie Campbell is a travel writer, known online as “Miss Adventure” due to how often things go awry during her travels. Her most recent assignment is to a three-week Edwardian experience in a Scottish manor house. Thinking that this will just be one of many travel stops, she quickly grows close to some kind locals, and a certain grumpy Scot who is refurbishing the manor, and soon finds herself questioning where “home” actually is for her, and what it could possibly be in the future.

The story at times felt directionless, and many events that are talked about happen off the page. The romance mostly was just the mmc rescuing the fmc from accidents that happen during her trip.

I felt like what stands out the most was how both characters were dealing with grief after losing a sibling, something you could tell was close to the author’s heart.

Overall, I found it to be a cute rom-com, and would recommend to anyone that just wants a light and sweet closed-door romance.

🎧⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎧

This was my first book by this author, and I loved it!
Katie accepts a job at Craighill House, a Scottish home offering an Edwardian experience. She quickly feels at home in the welcoming town despite some mishaps.
She finds herself in the arms of a surly Scotsman working on the estate, and they become friendly and unexpectedly find common ground and mutual healing.
The characters and setting are charming, and Joshua & Stina's narration adds to the enjoyment of this delightful story.
Highly recommend.

Popular travel writer and podcaster Katie Campbell is offered the chance to explore her ancestral roots through a three-week Edwardian experience in the beauty and eccentricity of Scotland. In her period attire, with traditional foods and activities, the opportunities for misadventures are endless, especially with the presence of a maniacal macaw, a jealous co-worker, and an all-too-surly Scotsman.

I loved this from the very beginning with all the misadventures Katie found herself in. Graeme was none too pleased to help her out but slowly warmed up to her which was sweet to see. I loved their chemistry even as they knew a relationship was highly improbable.

The exploration of grief in this was beautiful. Both Katie and Graeme had their own experience with it. The side characters were also a fun addition with all their quirks and humour.

I loved the narrators for the audio. Their Scottish accents were superb and gave life to the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book is such a great example that a rom com can have all the feels and plot without the spice and swear words! Excellently done Pepper Basham! I was a fan of Ms. Basham after starting her Skymar series so when the opportunity to preview "Some Like it Scot" came up, I was so excited! I listened to the audio version--it is told in dual POV with two different narrators. The female narrator's voice is so soothing and the male narrator has an excellent Scottish accent (great choices!). This is a swoony, clean rom com that I would easily feel comfortable allowing my high schooler reading (or listening to). Solid 4 stars! Looking forward to reading more of this author's work. *I received a complimentary audio ARC from the author/publishing company via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. "She’s perfect for you. Because you don’t mind a bit of crazy.”

This book was witty, humorous, engaging, relatable, adventurous, and so much fun!

This is great for fans of Outlander who want a clean romance.

Thank you to Netgalley and the UK publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very cute and easy read. The author clearly knows a lot about, or has well researched the Isle of Mull, which means that the book captures this beautiful settint so well and absolutely showcases its beauty and magic.

I do feel like it was a little long in places and the character's grumpy sunshine vibes were resolved a bit too easily. The author had chosen valid backstories to explain it, but this could have been developed and explored even more.

I was able to listen to this audio book early and it was fun. That narrators did a lovely job! The story was fine, a bit repetitive and not my usual. It was still fun to listen to.

I felt a deep connection to these characters and loved the story. Pepper wrote an FMC that any woman can identify with in some way but specifically connects with those of us that feel like outsiders in our own lives. The way she shows loss and grief and love is just perfect. Highly recommend!

Since I'm the author of this book, I feel weird reviewing it for story, but I can TOTALLY review the voice actors who brought the story to life. Both did an excellent job bringing emotion to Katie and Graeme's characters and the inner monologues were such fun!! If you're interested in hearing a fantastic Scottish burr and a sassy American, then I think you'll really enjoy the way these narrators add such depth, fun, and a little sizzle to Some Like It Scot!

This was my first Pepper Basham book and it was a cut, fun cozy listen! The way that the author described Scotland was fantastic and really painted a picture in my mind. Following along with Katie and her yellow wellies on her misadventures was a good time. I would prefer less talk of her size (but I feel like that is something that occurs alot with FMC - constantly mentioning their size), the cello/guitar part specifically. Good banter and I loved the "book club grannies"!

Romance but no spice in this one!

This was a super sweet book! I’ll admit I did not realize it was a Christian book when I requested it on NetGalley. I saw the title and that Stina Nielsen was a narrator, and automatically went for it. That said, it wasn’t really a big deal to me for it to have the religious ties in it. It was definitely a part of who the characters are, and interwoven into their daily lives, but it wasn’t overly “preachy.”. I actually think it was written in a way to really show how faith can help people who are grieving, and gave a good overlying theme to the story as a whole.
And the romance side of the plot did not suffer from the more PG take. We still get some GREAT slow burn, romantic tension. The dynamic and development in Katie and Graeme’s relationship is fun and meaningful. It’s a short amount of time but it doesn’t feel instalove to me. The wackiness of the “Edwardian experience” added for some silly moments, and I love the banter and ridiculous puns tossed around throughout the story.
As usual, Stina Nielsen did a great job narrating for Katie’s POV. I’ve listened to several of her other works and I always enjoy her. Joshua Manning is a new narrator for me and I can say I am a fan. That man could read me my bills and I would still probably enjoy it. The pitch of his voice is swoon worthy. Both narrators do a great job switching accents and emotions. They made it obvious when they were speaking for other characters. All in all, I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Pepper, I really enjoyed this book! I have left a review on Goodreads, but also sharing it below:

Oh Pepper, thank you for sharing the idea of this book at the end with us. Life and grief is HARD. This was an entertaining slow-burn romance. I enjoyed the banter throughout the book between Katie and Graeme.

If you are a taller girl that struggles with finding a man your height, I think you will enjoy this book and how she is SO appreciated in Scotland. (by everyone, literally).

The plot of this book is touching, entertaining and was very easy to listen to (read by Audio). I also really enjoyed both narrators!!

Also, Seamus the Highland Cow how dare you.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to enjoy this book early!!
