What a fun story! I loved reading about the Miss-Adventures and the cast of characters was broad and entertaining. Again, another title that makes me wish to visit Scotland. It was a delightful read and hard to put down!

This book caught my interest and I was happy to get approved for the audiobook - I’m completely new to audiobooks but really wanted to give it a go.

With that said, I was enjoying the book but I think I’m going to have to soft dnf this book and wait for the physical copy. My adhd is just getting in the way of the book and I find that with the audio it’s ruining the book for me.

The beginning pulled me in and I’m definitely interested in finishing the book, once I can read it!

I love a story set in Scotland and this one was another sweet romance in the Highlands. It was a little slow for me and I took a break about halfway through before coming back to finish it. There were many loveable characters, and the dialogue was witty and humorous. I liked the faith aspects brought into the story as well. A fun, clean romance!

I absolutely loved this. I was drawn in immediately with the setting as it felt Iike the big dream of traveling abroad. An American travel blogger in Scotland, meets grumpy handsome Scotsman. What’s not to love? I absolutely love when cute romance stories are met with heart and depth. These characters are so broken and running from their grief. While that can be a big life event to overcome, the writing was really well done and the characters had a choice- either continue to run from it or face it head on. This push and pull, I feel made their love story even more beautiful.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narrators. It's dual POV and the narration is probably what made me stick with it. I probably would have DNF'd if I was reading a physical or ebook copy.

That being said, this was a sweet rom-com. There are a lot of characters and I felt there were too many to actually give many of them any depth. But, the main character, Katie, had a lot of introspection and growth. I enjoyed her character and her Misadventures.

The idea of a travel writer falling in love with someone on one of her trips was entertaining. I also felt that this struck some harder topics such as the death of a sibling and grief.

I did not know prior to receiving this book that it was by a "Christian author". No problem with that, but not usually my preference. There was topics of faith and religion, but it wasn't too off-putting.

However, with the popularity of these types of cover art and the title, my first thought was that it would have at least a little spice. That is not the case. No spice and they didn't kiss the first time until the last quarter of the book.

Overall, a nice clean romance. Highly recommend the audio book, it helped immerse me in the highlands.

Some Like It Scot delivers plenty of charm, banter, and a heavy dose of Scottish accents. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and the romance has its swoon-worthy moments. While the humor and “grumpy Scot” trope didn’t always hit the mark for me, it was still an enjoyable, lighthearted read. A fun pick for those who love a flirty, Scottish twist on their romance!

I was excited to receive this as both an ARC and an ALC! As someone obsessed with Jamie Fraser (loved that he was mentioned, btw!!), the Outlander accents did something to my soul. Having a faith component made this an amazing read as well.

For fellow Taylor Swift fans, the FMC makes comments that align with the lyrics, "Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby and I'm a monster on a hill."

We also get to see an Edwardian experience, which gives us Bridgerton vibes.

The maidens leap was a beautiful analogy.

Katie is going to the Isle of Mull to experience a three week Edwardian experience. Katie arrives and is immediately in love with the Scottish landscape (as she should) and arrives at the the estate that is owned to our male interest, Graeme and his family. Katie is a travel writing and is writing about the experience.,

Katie spends her "free time" travelling around the island and meeting the locals and trying to understand and use the Scots language (cringe but also a necessary). Katie and Graeme start as instant hate to friends to eventual lovers.

It is a cute book but does have a lot of religious undertones which doesn't come into focus until about half way through. Unsure why this was decided as it kind of abrupt and then referenced heavily after that.

Absolutely loved this! This is perfect for someone who loved the idea of Austenland and an escape to a getaway where you can live in a different time period. I wish there was a little more about that experience since Katie was there to write about it. But I loved her character growth and her budding romance with Graeme. The idea of home being a place you always come back to and not the place you’re stuck in was so special. The narrators were awesome too!

Unfortunately, I am DNF this book at 30%. I tried giving it a chance but just did not feel connected to the FMC. It seems like it might be also burn but I did not feel the attraction between her and the MMC. I also listened to this on audiobook and I typically am a physical read type of girl so I don’t know if this make it harder to get into the story. I really wanted to like it as the synopsis had intrigued me and the cover is so cute but unfortunately this is not the book for me. I am rating it two stars but I am not sure how I feel about that as I did not finish the book. Just keep that in mind.

Thanks Net galley for the early ALC! I loved this charming little story. The prose was absolutely beautiful and the description of Scotland was so incredible. This story follows Katie who is a writer who travels around the world collecting other people's stories. When she comes to Scotland she meets people and a grumpy Scottish man who changes that for our girl Katie.For some reason I just didn't connect fully with the story and found myself tuning in and out. It was still a really good story and think it's perfect for a little beach read this summer.

This was described as “Christian” on NetGalley, which I did not notice until afterwards. Honestly it scared me going into it because I do not usually read Christian lit. I realized it’s categorized this way because there is no spice or swearing. There are a good few references to religion in this book. Just so anyone else is wondering!

I liked the exploration of what one considers home and finding our place in the world.

Lochlan and Wedge were my favourites. Loved the relationship they formed with Katie.

The romance between the fmc and mmc seemed a little underwhelming to me. There is a grand gesture at the end, and a few cute things here and there, but I was not rooting for the couple, and I was bored at times. I wanted more adventures with the fmc and his nephew.

I love the dual narration book. The narrators did a great job!

his story was very refreshing. The romance was sweet. The Scottish setting was different from what im used to reading, which was great, and the chemistry between the characters was spot on. I gave it a four star rating because some parts felt a little slow, and i want more romance early on. The humor and swoon-worthy moments made up for it. Honestly, it felt like watching a Hallmark movie in book form.

It's definitely a great pick for anyone who loves feel-good rom-com

From the description I thought I was really going to get into these charters, travel blogger and grumpy Scot, should have been a no brainer. Sadly, I did not connect with either main character. The story was slow to develop and lacked focus. There is no banter and lackluster chemistry between the MCs.

It wasn’t until about half way through I realized this was Christian book. For me personally, I have too much religious trauma to connect with a storyline that features faith. The cover, title, and description gave no indication that would be a theme, but alas, I see now it was tagged with ‘Christian’. If half of the book focuses on relationship with God, I feel like it should be more obvious, so readers like me are not blindsided.

Some things I did like, FMC was a tall las connecting to with her Scottish heritage and finding her home. Did love this quote:

“Sometimes home is a place. Sometimes it’s a person. Sometimes it’s both.”

This book was definitely not my cup of tea, but I was not the right audience.

I unexpectedly loved this book so much! From start to finish, I was hooked. The tall girl representation, Ky representation, and the strong sibling bonds were some of my absolute favorite aspects.

Katie was such a delightful and funny character, and I truly grew to love her as the story unfolded. Her personality and humor made the book even more enjoyable, and I found myself completely invested in her journey.

The narration was fantastic, adding an extra layer of charm to the story. One of my favorite moments was the remark about “this is not a Hallmark miscommunication scene”—it was refreshing to see characters who were mature enough to communicate rather than jumping to conclusions. While the "miscommunication" troupe can often be so frustrating, it was a breath of fresh air to see realistic, thoughtful interactions.

Overall, this book was a wonderful surprise, and I’m so glad I picked it up. If you enjoy heartfelt stories with humor and strong family dynamics, this is definitely a book for you!

I really enjoyed this book, great banter, and a fantastic setting for this story. I loved the relationship between the main characters and his family on Mull, and I thought it was great how it touched on harder topics such as grief. As so much kept going wrong, you expected it to keep happening at everything the FMC did, which I felt got a little repetitive.
First book I’ve read by Pepper and I would definitely pick up more in the future, I really enjoyed their writing style. I also like there wasn’t a third-act breakup that went on for ages, there was a slight miscommunication problem and it got solved quickly - not a fan when it is dragged out.

I love, love, love this book! It had the right balance of humor and romance. It was not sappy and it was not filthy. It was a wonderful read. Who doesn't want to cozy up to a book about meeting a well built Scottish ginger? It made me want to immediately book a trip to Scotland. I couldn't decide who I pictured as Graham (the main male character), should he be Sam Heughan (as season 1 Jamie Frazier) or Gerard Butler? The narrators were so talented. I am always in awe of those who can switch accents as they read. I loved every minute of the read, I hope you will too!

Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham

Well, this story was adorable.
I thought this story was so cute! Katie is an influencer from America. Graham is a grumpy Scotsman and owns the estate where she is working. They of course meet and the rest of the story ensues. There is lively banter, hilarious moments, swoony-worthy scenes, and of course a Scottish accent. The little Easter Eggs for Jamie Jo Wright's book and Lord of the Rings were so fun to find. I also enjoyed the references to Skymar. That was so fun!
I love Katie and Graham together. Their banter and sass had me laughing out loud several times. I love his nickname for her. haha, I thought it was so funny too how the narrator says it perfectly with sarcasm in his voice.
The meddling mother and the book club ladies also had me laughing several times throughout the book. 
I would recommend this one.

I have read a few of Pepper Basham's books so far. This book was just not favorite. I wanted to like it more, but I just was not as interested in it. I would definitely give other Pepper Basham's book a chance. Not all books have to be for everyone.

ALC from Net Galley

If you’re a fan of Jamie Fraser, you’ll find plenty to appreciate in rated G Graeme MacKerrow—charming, steadfast, and undeniably swoon-worthy. But for me, the real standout was his wee nephew, Lochlan. Every time he appeared on the ‘page’, he stole the show.

While the narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, the book itself felt a bit long. Katie’s series of misadventures, while entertaining at first, started to drag by the end. Additionally, the Edwardian experience—meant to be a major part of the story—often felt secondary, lost in the whirlwind of everything else happening before, during, and around it.

As for spice? Absolutely none. This is a pre-romance through and through, which some readers will appreciate.

Overall, Some Like It Scot delivers on its Scottish charm and lovable characters. If you enjoy historical romance with a lighthearted touch, it may be worth the read.
