I did not have a chance to read this book, but it is effecting my feedback rating. I am giving books 5 stars that I haven't read to improve my feedback rating. I am not recommending the book for my classroom or students since I have not read the book. There needs to be a better system of leaving feedback for books not read.
A surprisingly well written story about love with all the raw, intriguing and real emotions!
To start with, this book is about sex. Specifically about a threesome (man, his wife, and a woman). And this book has sexual references and is explicit in parts, although it's not an erotic novel as such. This book though is much more than just a book about a threesome. It's about marriage and relationships, about testing the limits of those relationships and reflecting on decision made.
Set in NYC, a successful, attractive, happily married couple in their early 40s decide to explore one of his fantasies. He meets an equally attractive and successful woman at her photography show. She's about to set off on a 6 month long trip and decides she wants a lover for 6 weeks. He decides he can't have an affair and asks his wife if she might participate in one night of fun. She agrees and, without spoiling the plot too much, it doesn't go according to his plan, particularly after a second meeting between the three.
It's a relatively short novel, and moves at good speed to engage the reader. I would recommend it and thank Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the book.
I'm not sure why I requested this book. The premise at first seemed interesting, but once I read it, it made me angry and ill. I have really strong personal feelings towards marriage and bringing people outside of the marriage into it. I know that people have their quirks or fantasies, and as long as the other partner is okay with it, it "should be all right." Right? It's not. Anytime you bring someone into a situation like that, you set yourself up for just messy, messy stuff. I didn't like it after I was done. David and Blair should have just stayed happily married with their empty nest and enjoyed each other. I would only recommend this to someone who is thinking of pursuing this kind of activity. Hey, look what happens when you do this? Stop....just save yourself, and your marriage.
