I found this book refreshing. I breathe a sigh or relief when I read about the traits of HSP and that it's a 'thing' and not because I'm odd. I find it reassuring to know that there are others in the world who feel similarly and that I can adapt my world in order to be able to better cope with beng highly sensitive. It has helped me understand myself better and it was a good reminder since it's been several years since I read originally Elaine Aron's book.
When I first became aware that I was a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) more than a decade ago it helped me understand so many things about myself and helped me live a life more true to who I am. Highly Sensitive People in an Insensitive World covers the basics of HSP, and gives tips and tricks about how to best deal with HSP, as well as showing us the advantages and joys of being HSP.
Highly Sensitive People in an Insensitive World is the handbook for how to navigate life as a highly sensitive person. It provides practice tips for making time for self-care, dealing with uncomfortable social situations and even how to communicate your needs with others. I knew I was highly sensitive before reading this, but I was nodding my head in agreement to something on every single page of this book. It gave me answers to so many questions I had about why I was this way and why others weren't. Such a good read if you are or think you are a highly sensitive person.
