Wonderful vegan cookbook! It's easy to follow, with interesting and varied recipes. Highly recommended for anyone who is vegan, is thinking about changing their diet, or anyone who simply wants to eat more veggies!

The publisher was kind enough to provide me with a copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own and honest.

If you have read any of my other cookbook reviews you know what I look for in a cookbook. It needs to be colourful, have lots of pictures, be as unprocessed as possible, and easy to made (no fancy ingredients!). Easy. Whole. Vegan. checks all of these boxes and more! The version I received from the publisher has spots that say "picture to come" so I'm guessing there are going to be even more pictures but I am very happy with the pictures that were in the copy I received. The recipes are whole food, plant-based, and gluten free. The book starts off with the basics of ingredients to use, equipment, and other tips. There are so many recipes in this book that you are sure to find something for everyone. They are easy to make, don't have many ingredients, and are surprisingly healthy. There are many that kids will love without even realizing how healthy they are (cinnamon roll muffins anyone?!). I do not use oil when cooking so I loved that very few recipes included oil and there were suggestions on how to cook without it. Overall I can't believe how amazing this book is. It's great for anyone looking for healthy recipes that don't take much time or use any fancy ingredients. Simple and delicious! I REALLY hope the author makes another cookbook in the future.

Not a vegan, but I do enjoy vegan food. Some of the recipes call for some kitchen equipment that not everyone might have, but plenty in here to experiment with!

Description:

Vegan, whole food recipes that will help families ditch processed meals by taking the hassle out of cooking!

Cooking with fresh ingredients takes a lot of work, doesn't it? Not if you ask Melissa King! In Easy. Whole. Vegan., she shows how to break free of ready-made, processed foods without spending hours in the kitchen (and it isn't with takeout)!

Organized by how they will help busy families save time (and tame the chaos), here are 100 vegan and gluten-free recipes that make the most out of healthy, whole ingredients:
Quick-to-prepare recipes such as 30-Minute Sweet and Spicy Warm Pepper Salad. Slow cooker meals that are ready when you are! (Apple Cinnamon Quinoa, Veggie Enchilada Soup) Make-it-ahead wonders that keep in the fridge, like Lentil Shepherd's Pie. And crowd pleasers that cook up in long-lasting batches, from snacks (Sundried Tomato Crackers) to desserts (Three-Ingredient, No-Bake Almond Butter Cookies)!
Easy. Whole. Vegan. will help feed any family more fresh food—fast!

Review:
Easy. Whole. Vegan. starts with an introduction about the author's family detailing why she pursued a whole plant food, gluten-free approach to eating for her whole family. I hadn't heard of Melissa prior to looking at this book, so had no idea of the journey she had been on with her children. It makes tough reading.

Melissa talks about stocking your kitchen, like many other similar books do. I would err on the side of caution here and suggest that for most people, unless you're sure you're going to be using them regularly (and have tons of room in which for storage) don't go out and buy things like dehydrators!

Onto the recipes, which are divine! As a vegan that doesn't eat gluten or add sugar to anything, this book could have been made for me. I absolutely loved most everything that I tried. There are more than a handful that I'll be using regularly and I was already an advocate of the batch cooking of grains to keep handy in the fridge.

I received an advanced egalley from The Experiment via Netgalley.

Vegan may sound very forbidding for many people but this book proves it's title correct: East Whole Vegan. And it is possible and very attainable for everyone. Melissa King's recipes are clean, direct and very delicious. I have been adding vegan recipes to my arsenal for a few years now and this cookbook is on my kitchen counter. Buy it.
