This story is loosely based on Greek mythology with a current twist. The nine muses continue to be reborn and each time, a guardian is also selected. Mel is a teacher and one of the muses and Nate, a detective is her guardian. They meet over the murder of one of the nine, and Mel’s best friend.

The story is well thought out and the character development is amazing. I connected with the characters immediately. I am definitely confusing this series.

Lure of Obsession is book one in the Muse Chronicles. I fell in love with this story. The Muse Chronicles is about the nine daughters of Zeus known as the Muses and their guardians.
Lure of Obsession is the story of Melanie Jacoby the reborn Muse of Tragic Poetry. She is a high school teacher and Nate Malone is a police detective that is assigned to a case that Melanie Jacoby is a part of. Nate becomes Melanie's guardian.
Lure of Obsession is a mix of modern day and Ancient Greek Mythology. I love the way Lisa Kessler blends the two perfectly together. I was hooked from the beginning.
I would recommend this series to anyone that loves romance and Greek mythology. This is a series that I will listen to over and over again. Cant wait to listen to the second book.
I give Lure of Obsession 5 out of 5 stars.

When the nine muses of Zeus are reborn, they must face against those who wants them dead. But they are not alone; they have Guardians to stand by them. As the series begins with one of them dead, another muse meets with her own Guardian as they try to find out who killed the victim.

This romantic suspense is a great start to the series. The characters, including the villains, were distinctive. In the overall series plot, it ended in a cliffhanger; but for the couple, every hangup and obstacle they were facing in their relationship were resolved at the end of the book. In conclusion, I would recommend this book if one wants to read a romantic suspense with a paranormal twist.

This was a great story! I'm a huge fan of suspense with a little bit of paranormal thrown in so this book hit the spot. The under lying theme of this book, Greek muses and their Guardians, is perfect for establishing a great series. I

The story is well plotted with a steady narrative. Mel and Nate were perfect for each other. Their characters were so developed that I couldn't help but fall in love with them! I'm sure I'll love the rest of the series, too. Thanks for this one, Ms Kessler.

I really enjoyed this book. I generally don't read things that aren't firmly paranormal in nature, but I gave this one a shot. It has a tinge of the supernatural, but it's relatively light, all things considered. I still enjoyed the story quite thoroughly. If you enjoy a smidgen of fated love but with some effort and will to bring it to fruition, you'll like this love story. I really liked how Nate was insecure: it made him so much more relatable. I think I will continue this series, even if it's light on the paranormal.

A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I am giving this a 3. I found it to be so so. I thought the storyline had a lot of holes. I guess I am not into rebirth plots. I didn't click with the characters at all. This wasn't for me, but I think alot of romance readers would enjoy it.

Intriguing & Suspenseful! This is the first book that I have read by Lisa Kessler but it definitely won’t be my last. This is not the genre that I normally read, but I could not put this story down. Riveting Intrigue and sizzling chemistry drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Loved the premise that this series is based on. Nine Greek Muses, the daughter’s of Zeus, who are reborn each generation, and charged with inspiring man kind to move forward in inventions, music and science to change the world. But of course wherever there is good there is also evil looking to destroy it and The Order is set on killing all of the Muses so the Golden Age Of Man would return.
This is Melanie Jacoby and Nate Malone’s story. Melanie or Mel is the Muse of Tragic Poetry who meets Nate Malone, a police detective that arrives on the scene after she finds her roommate dead in their apartment. Her roommate, Nia, was the Muse of Astronomy and Mel knows she was killed, but her death appears to be accidental. So with the help and protection from Nate as he tries to figure out everything that is going on, Mel and Nate soon realize that there is more to their sizzling attraction, that goes far deeper than they could ever imagine. Mel and the other Muses must find out who is trying to kill them before it is to late. Will Nate be able to save Mel? Will the Order give up? You will need to read to find out. Don’t miss this action packed, sizzling hot, intriguing new series. This took me back to my love of Greek mythology.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is an intriguing story. Mythology mixing with the contemporary world. The instant attraction between Mel and Nate warned of something beyond them. Nate doubts himself but has such a big heart. It took Mel to push a bit to open him up. Their interactions with Maggie had tears in my eyes. I loved the HEA and look forward to more in this series to continue with the backstory.

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

Modern incarnations of the nine Greek muses buy a derelict theatre building in the hopes of turning it into a new Theatre des Muses, but when one of them ends up dead in a fall down the stairs, her room mate is determined to convince hunky detective Nick Malone that it was no accident. He's convinced she's imagining things until a series of visions triggered at the scene convinces him there's something to her story and convinces her that he's destined to be her guardian.
As they work together to solve the murder and figure out who's after the muses and why, they develop a relationship that goes way beyond detective and witness.
Sexy sweet romance, strong characters with vulnerabilities and villains with a "divine" mission make this a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I love it so much that I purchased a copy.

This is a great beginning to a series. I just loved all the characters. The book is written with a dual POV so understanding the characters was easy. The plot flowed beautifully. I really hated to see it come to an end. Nate, Mel and Maggie are so good together and loveable that I felt like I was saying good-bye to good friends. I highly recommend this book to anyone especially if you love suspenseful romance.

This is one of those stories that is a slow burn between the couple. Melanie is a reborn muse of Greek Muse of Tragic Poetry. This was interesting because her character naturally went to the tragic side of things and she had to always push that aside. Especially when she meets her reborn guardian Nate. He has not idea what is going on. He is a Detective who is sent to her home for death in her home. She believes one of the other reborn muses has been murdered. He believes is just a tragic accident until he suddenly begins to have visions. I liked that for once the guy is in the dark about the paranormal world. This was a short story and I would have like a little more depth but I feel more will come out in the rest of the series.

This was my first book by this author, and I can tell you it won’t be my last. The book was well-written, had an interesting plot with a different spin on the paranormal (muses!), and the characters were really interesting. I especially enjoyed the interaction between Mel and Nate; their romance was really sweet and touching, with a little heat thrown in. One thing I’m really looking forward to in the series is getting to know the other muses. We got a glimpse of them, but I can’t wait to see them fully fleshed out to the degree we saw Mel. There was only one tiny thing that bothered me, and since I can’t say too much because it’s a spoiler, I’ll just say: two, three days was not enough time, or maybe my internal timeline was off. How’s that to intrigue you to read the book? I am really looking forward to the next book, and if you are looking for a nice paranormal romantic suspense book, look no further. This book is great! Highly recommend!

This was a fast read. I was hoping for a more complex story. It was fast paced but lacked depth. Melanie is a muse along with women that also have muses reborn in them. Nate is a guardian of muses, specifically Mel. He is also a detective and helps Mel and her sisters when one of them is murdered and Mel marked as the next to be killed. He develops abilities once he meets Mel. I do love the idea of muses but didn't really think it through that there is only so much a muse could do story wise. Nate's guardian abilities were more in line with being unusual. The relationship between Mel and her sisters seemed thin. These women have experienced something otherworldly and yet I didn't get any more of a bond feel as I would a sorority. All in all it was a good story just not to the level I would expect with a muse and guardian. I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

What a great concept, I love mythology! Author Lisa Kessler is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This new series had me on the edge of my seat and looking for more. I thought the author did a really great job with the intro into this new world. She gave us heart thumping suspense from the first chapter all the way up until the last. I absolutely loved the heroine in this story; Mel, she is a caring high school teacher that is making a difference; she’s sassy and so likeable by all that meet her. I don’t like to compare author to author but I do like to compare types of story lines; I felt this story had a Nora Roberts muse behind it. Sorry for the pun!

Melanie Jacoby is one of nine Muses reincarnate, her and her sister muses are trying to rebuild a theater in hopes to inspire the next generation to create. But with all good there must be evil, those who believe in something different all together. The Order of Kronos are those people, they will do anything they can to stop the muses, including murder. As with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” there is always some kind of support, she has a watcher; the Gods have gifted each of the muses with a guardian. These guardians can feel when their muse is in trouble; they watch over and protect them. Mel’s guardian happens to be police Detective Nate Malone. Nate has a back ground Mel’s muse would love. I felt Nate was the perfect match to Mel; I liked the chemistry between the two. I loved that even in moments of tragedy and sorrow they were able to find laughter with each other. I also liked the way they were able to open up old wounds, share them without judgment. I felt it made them stronger as a team. If you like romance stories with a mythical twist this is a great story to read. Enjoy! I give it 4.5 stars!

This one was such an easy read. I finished it in a day. It is very similar to the Paladins of Darkness series by Alexis Morgan, the Eternal Guardians series by Elizabeth Naughton, and the Iron Portal series by Laurie London. The characters were easy to like, the conflict was believable, the passion was great, and the love story developed steadily. I liked the role reversal with the fact that the man is the one who comes to know the paranormal exists rather than the female.  The women come into their muse at 18 where the Guardians don't come into their abilities until they cross path with their muse, so it is left to the women to induct the strong alpha type men into their world. It was a fun read and I'm glad I picked it up on NetGalley.

A great start to a series with Melanie and Nate. I love the added depth of the nine Muses of Zeus and their Guardians fighting against the Order of Kronos. Melanie is full of life and hope and Nate is devastated from the trauma of his upbringing.
