This is a fascinating story about a man, who is grieving for his deceased wife Ruthie, who rides the Number 17 bus, where he mysteriously hears God speaking to him, giving him directions to do various things that help people and mankind in general. This is a group of interesting stories about ordinary people in life who face different situations, reacting to them in different ways, all the while involving Jimmy Carter, who is hearing God’s voice with guidance and advice. It is a fascinating story of God’s interest and love, working through one man, to better our lives. The message is clear: listen and God will help you figure out what to do when necessary. Jimmy soon is noticed for his helpful deeds, and understands how he is being used as God’s messenger of help. I found the story interesting and different. Jimmy is just and ordinary man, who rises to the occasion, as anyone else might—if he/she listened. The book is a bit different. My one problem is that it did not flow as smoothly for me as I would have hoped it would. There were times when I had to stop to remember/figure out what was going on. In addition, the book is not very long, and a longer book might have helped this out a bit. However, a longer book might also have dragged or been boring. This is an interesting, different book that you will remember long after reading it. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
