I loved looking through this. The quilts were creative and simple enough for a beginner and relied primarily on the use of scrap and more unusual materials.

This book, in a modern way, hearkens back to a bygone time when handmade objects around the home could be useful, beautiful, AND meaningful. This book features projects that take slow sewing to the next level: after all, one must wait for old jeans or discarded dress shirts to pile up before having enough for a quilt. I am currently enjoying the denim project using my husband's discarded jeans. The project features a traditional pattern, Delectable Mountains. The vibe of this book is very down to earth and sustainable, two things I am hoping to bring into my craft. It's a refreshing break from the fussy-cutting perfectionism that permeates modern quilting. Don't get me wrong - I love and respect the craft that goes into that, too, and I often do plan projects in that vein - but as that is a major trend in the movement right now, this book provides a breath of fresh air.

Wise Craft Quilts, by Blair Stocker, is a lovely book you can use to turn special fabrics, or garments like baby blankets and wedding dresses, into keepsake quilts. Each of the 21 featured quilts teaches something new. I'm not experienced enough yet to make some of these quilts, but it's great for inspiration and aspiration, as I continue to learn and practice the craft.

I really enjoyed reading this book and read it in one sitting. I have piles of fabrics stashed away, waiting to be stitched into quilts. I love the methods of making them into something special in this book and can't wait to get them out and make a start.

Not much new information is this book. New quilters may find this book interesting, but for the most part ideas such as in this book can be found online. Didn't impress me.

This book has some lovely projects in it, and I am particularly taken with the roll up quilt for the back of the bike. This particularly quilt shows how versatile quilting and quilts can be. I also love denim, not necessarily to wear but made into other things so the quilt made of denim really caught my eye.

The instructions and photography are clear and easy to decipher. I believe the author has been thorough in explanations and has provided some useful quilting 101 instructions that are helpful when making the projects in the book. For a beginner in the craft this information is always most welcome and helps make the processes just that little bit easier.

If I saw this on my local library shelves I would definitely borrow it and would also recommend to other library borrowers.
