Description
In Wise Craft Quilts, celebrated quilt designer and crafter Blair Stocker shares ways to use cherished fabrics to make quilts with more meaning. Each of the twenty-one quilts featured here gathers a special collection of fabric, outlines a new technique, and spins a story. By using special fabrics as the starting point for each project—from a wedding dress to baby’s first clothes, worn denim, Tyvek race numbers, and more—the finished quilt is made even more special. Create quilts that have a story to tell and you’ll find a whole new level of appreciation for what they represent in your life and the lives of the ones you love.

Wise Craft Quilts, by Blair Stocker, is a lovely book you can use to turn special fabrics, or garments like baby blankets and wedding dresses, into keepsake quilts. Each of the 21 featured quilts teaches something new. I'm not experienced enough yet to make some of these quilts, but it's great for inspiration and aspiration, as I continue to learn and practice the craft.
I really enjoyed reading this book and read it in one sitting. I have piles of fabrics stashed away, waiting to be stitched into quilts. I love the methods of making them into something special in this book and can't wait to get them out and make a start.
This book has some lovely projects in it, and I am particularly taken with the roll up quilt for the back of the bike. This particularly quilt shows how versatile quilting and quilts can be. I also love denim, not necessarily to wear but made into other things so the quilt made of denim really caught my eye.
The instructions and photography are clear and easy to decipher. I believe the author has been thorough in explanations and has provided some useful quilting 101 instructions that are helpful when making the projects in the book. For a beginner in the craft this information is always most welcome and helps make the processes just that little bit easier.
If I saw this on my local library shelves I would definitely borrow it and would also recommend to other library borrowers.
The only problem with this book is it will make you start an unending to make list!
I loved this quilting book and the ideas that it presented for using clothing to keep the memories going. I plan to add this to our library collection and display it as part of a scrapbook, family history and reusable crafting. It is well done and definitely needed for our collection.
