I received this book for an honest review so here is some honesty. I skipped a part of the book maybe 5-10% of it. It was in the begging though and I didn't have the patience to read the part where the characters are introduced and the good parts of the story have yet to happen. It didn't seem like I had missed anything vital so I went on with the story. I wasn't able to get into the story and get comfortable with the characters until I reached the middle of the book. Things became clearer and the characters had made up their minds by then. While I didn't love the book, I am very willing to read a story about Joanna and one of Rosalind's brothers. I will have to keep an eye on the authors next releases to see if a book about them will be written someday. The epilogue is also a good reason for me to read the next book in the series because I don't like leaving mysteries unsolved.

I must have missed the part where the two main characters decided that they don't want to be enemies anymore because the change seemed a little abrupt to me. I enjoyed their romance though. To be completely honest I enjoyed most of the second half of the book and I think it's my fault for not being able to get into the first half. I am more used to debutantes after all. I widow who is busy running companies and having her future husband as a rival isn't a usual thing for me in historical books. I will be able to form an opinion of the authors writing and if I like the series or not after I get the chance to read the next book in the series since I will be more familiar with the setting. From the description of the other ladies the author seems to write about strong and as much as they can be independent women which something I liked in a novel.

I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read the next book in the League of Rogues series by Lauren Smith. Hot-headed men and bold beautiful women make for an interesting read.

I loved Ashton and Rosalind's story!!

Rosalind is loving her life. She is running a shipping empire and is in control of her own life. Unfortunately, this hasn't left anytime for romance. When Ashton buys up all her debts, she is furious with him and doesn't like the fact that she is attracted to him.

Ashton has bought up all of Rosalind debts because he thinks that she is involved with the man that is out to get the Rogues. He has long admired that woman's business sense having beaten him out of many contracts. As the two spend more and more time together, his admiration turns into something much stronger. Can these two business rivals get over their differences to find the HEA that they didn't know they craved?

I loved watching the interactions between Ashton and Rosalind. Their bantering had me laughing out loud. I really enjoyed this installment of the series and I can't wait to see what else Smith has in store for the League of Rogues!!

This was a great addition to The League of Rogues series, but fear not if you haven't read any of them yet because Ashton and Rosalind's story can be read as a standalone.

Ashton and Rosalind work well together even though they have a very rocky start, which totally surprised me, and I LOVED Ashton even though he is underhanded in some of the things he does. Rosalind lost her husband several years earlier and she has taken over running his business and is doing a successful job at it, so much so that it catches Ashton's attention.

Rosalind is a strong female character which is a rarity in historical romance stories. I guess that is why I enjoy Lauren Smith's books so much, she has a way of making her men strong and her women even stronger.

Henry’s companies had become her empire and would remains hers unless she married again. But Ashton had gotten her debt and called it in. Lady Melbourne returned home after visiting the bank and readied herself and went to Ashton’s estate where his mother and sisters and friends were.
I loved this story. There was a lot to this story but it was very enjoyable. This story goes at a steady pace I loved the plot. A woman owning her own companies and being successful in a very much man's world was totally awesome. I loved it. Lady Melbourne so determined to stay her own woman and loved the businesses she was head of. Rosalind and Ashton were a lot alike at least I thought so. I loved this story and how it ended. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend
