Ashton is fascinated by the strong-willed, intelligent and sensual lady who, up until now, had outsmarted him at every turn. 'Wicked Rivals' by Lauren Smith is book four in "The League of Rogues" series. This is the story of Ashton Lennox and Rosalind Melbourne. I have read most of the books in this series but I easily felt this was a standalone book.
Rosalind is a widower who has taken on running her late husband's business..and doing a great job at it. Ashton is a business rival and is taken with Rosalind..but he is tired of her taking some of his business away. Also he thinks a old enemy is working with her or using her. So Ashton set out to take over her debits and try to 'own her' as he put it. Rosalind is so mad at Ashton she take off after him and she finds herself caught at his house with his mother, sister and his friends. This leads to Ashton thinking that he should marry her and setting this attraction between them. Also this will get him control over her business.
This was such a fun, hot read! I am just in love with this whole series! Ms. Smith has become one of my favorite authors!
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

This is the 4th book in the League of Rogues. Whilst it could stand alone I feel that all series should be started at the beginning & read in order but that’s a quirk of mine

Ashton Lennox is a wealthy man who puts business before everything else, especially love. As a member of the infamous League of Rogues, he’s no stranger to scandal. His bedroom conquests are as legendary as his fortune. As he searches for a way to bring down an old enemy, Sir Hugo Waverly bent on destroying the lives of his friends, the last thing he needs is a Scottish widow getting in his way.

Rosalind Melbourne has spent years distancing from her past. After escaping her tyrannical father and marrying an aging English lord, she has become a powerful widow with a business empire at her command. Her business dealings are everything to her, leaving her no time for love. Especially not with her business rival Ashton, a man with a scandalous reputation as striking as his blue eyes.

Rosalind has outsmarted Ashton on several deals much to his annoyance. So Ashton buys her debts & stops her lines of credit. She has an eventful journey to Ashton’s Hampshire estate, arriving bedraggled, wet & exhausted. Ashton is being plagued by his mother Regina to marry & devises a plan for a sham engagement to Rosalind.
The chemistry between Ashton & Rosalind is electrifying, whilst they are business rivals personally they are very attracted to each other, the game of chess sizzles.
Things don’t go smoothly for them with illness, a spymaster & Rosalind’s brothers all hampering their romance. Rosalind unwittingly holds the key to helping the Rogues bring down their enemy.
Ashton usually has his emotions totally under control but Rosalind manages to worm her way in. Rosalind has been abused & trusts no man but again Ashton worms his way in. A well written page turning novel that left you wanting more. There are developing romances between other characters, I hope they get their stories & there is still the matter of Sir Hugo to resolve. I look forward to more novels to come
