A sweet and colorful story, but without much substance. I’m not a romance novel reader, only choosing to read this one for the Cotswolds setting. That, sadly, seemed pretty generalized. None of the characters seemed multi-dimensional either. No doubt romance fans will enjoy it though.
Not a big fan of romance books, or even the Christmas holiday, but thought I'd give it a shot. Not a bad story. Short enough to not be painful, I could enjoy it over a pot of tea and some pastries one quiet afternoon. So, I suppose fans of romance and Xmas will likely enjoy this book, which I understand is part of a series, so all the more to entertain!
Ooh this was so good! The perfect Christmas novel to read on a way-too-hot first full day of autumn. Fans of Hallmark Christmas movies will delight in this quick but satisfying read.
I really enjoyed the book, it has everything I love in a novel from start to finish. I can’t wait to read what the author has planned next!
Sadly, this one was a DNF for me. I just couldn't seem to connect with the characters. I made it halfway before calling it quits.
This is a sweet little story that is actually an introduction to a series set in the small village of Wychwood-on-Lea in the Cotswold. I was a little tricked because the others in the series are all variations on Willoughby Close so I didn't realize this was the first in the series until I went looking.
Our heroine is an American, Anna Vere, escaping to a B&B in far off England to escape Christmas after a year where all her dreams were dashed. Only the B& B has been flooded and there is no room at the inn. So to speak.
Colin Heath comes to the rescue with somewhere to stay, an empty cottage in a building project he's working on. Colin is around the same age as Anna, in the mid-thirties and there is an instant connection between the two of them.
Thrown together, Anna meets Colin's family and when she has to move out of the cottage, she gets to experience life close up and personal with Colin.
A very sweet story with two likeable people and broader cast of characters in the village.
Light hearted Christmas read. Good story line but with little to think about.
A sweet story of Anna and Colin's romance. Anna is an American who has come to England to escape the overwhelming reminders of her broken engagement and her lack of fertility. The last things she wants is to be around the joys of children and festivities. With one thing after another, she ends up meeting and being rescued by Colin, and the sparks go from there. I liked this story, and read this one second (although I believe it is first in the series). Love the characters and the story line. Highly recommend this book and author.
This book was great I enjoyed reading it.
We are introduced to Anna who wants to spend Christmas in the Cotswold instead of back home in America with her family. Things don't go quite to plan and she ends up not on her own but with Colin who is her knight in shining armour.
A great Christmassy book and I can't wait for the sequel.
A very enjoyable romp through the cotswalds. Light reading and just what was required to while away an evening in front of the fire.
