Another great book from Katherine Garbera. I still felt like I was missing something at the end, which was a bit disappointing, but they got their HEA, so I'm happy with that. Not on goodreads yet.

One in a series of 'Scott brothers' books; 'Her Christmas Cowboy' by USA today award winning author Katherine Garbera does not disappoint.
Right from the moment when former high school friends Felicity Danvers and Lane Scott literally fall for each other at the start of the book you know you are in for a sensitively written fun piece of romantic fiction.
MS Garbera doesn't shrink from the subject of Lane's disability, ( he is a bilateral amputee) but focusses on his abilities and he comes across as a very strong and really likeable (loveable even) hero.
Reading his developing romance with Felicity who has long held a torch for him is just perfect for curling up with a cup of hot chocolate on a winter's evening. Thoroughly recommended, relaxing, enjoyable read.

A wonderful Christmas story with so much emotion, that I could not put down until I was done. Lane has returned to Marietta, after a devastating injury in the Marines, a double amputee. When he runs into Felicity, who has her own wall of barrier up. There is a mutual attraction between the two, but will it last for more than the holiday season.

I really enjoyed how strong Lane was, and did not feel sorry for himself. Felicity was fun an enjoying Christmas on her own terms, not her mothers. I enjoyed how both of theirs barriers came down as their relationship developed. Felicia was Lane's Christmas Angel! I highly recommend this book!

Lane Scott has returned to his hometown of Marietta, Montana just in time for the holidays but hasn’t been feeling festive after he lost his legs in combat while serving in the Marines. Felicity Danvers has been hiding from her Christmas obsessed mother when she runs into Lane whom she’d had a huge crush on back in high school.

Lane had tried to ask Felicity out several times in high school but Felicity was so shy she could only say no out of fear. Now that the pair are adults Lane is still interested but Felicity is more afraid than ever to do or say the wrong thing around him and coming out of a terrible relationship she feels like she couldn’t ever be worthy of his love.

Her Christmas Cowboy is the 5th book in the Scott Brothers series with each of the books featuring a different brother and his love interest. While I’ve read several books set in Marietta, Montana during the holiday season I haven’t read this entire series but each of the books usually read fine as standalone novels with just mentions of previous characters and settings in the town.

For anyone that is a lover of all things Christmas then any of the wonderful books taking place in Marietta, Montana seem to bring the season to life so wonderfully. The town has so many events and a small town vibe that is always fun to read about. The couple in this story were both lovely people that I couldn’t help but want to see get their happy ending too which made this a great read.

Overall, another lovely Christmas romance in Marietta, Montana, a small town with wonderful holiday charm.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

3.5 Stars

I really loved Lane Scott, he is a retired marine, who is adjusting back to life as a double amputee. He won't let his disability get him down but since the injuries, he hasn't really had much to do with women, and that all changes the day that Felicity Danvers runs into him in town.

They knew each other at school, but never dated, but suddenly they are aware of some chemistry between the, as they try to decipher their feelings for each other.

I found Lane really easy to get to know and he is a classy cowboy who knows how to treat a lady right. However I just couldn't get to grips with Felicity as easily, there seemed to be things hinted at but not really explored in depth which is a shame, as this was a romance you had to pretty much believe in at face value only.

Her Christmas Cowboy is the fifth book in the Scott brothers series, but I don't feel I was missing out having not read the others, so this can be read as a standalone. I did like what I heard about the other brothers though, as well as Lane's nephews.

Short and sweet romance between a cowboy and a teacher, that is a good escape for a couple of hours from your regular routine.

Thank you to Tule Publishing and Netgalley for this copy of the book. This was my honest opinion.

A Marietta Christmas story that went directly to my heart and made an impact with the relatable characters and peril of the every day, and every mind, issues we have to face.
Because no matter how incredible the physical connection is between two people, the minds have to connect as well. And then there are the awkward, uncomfortable moments of uncertainty and how fast and how far and what is the other one thinking... And the whole growing and developing to be a couple, a unit that works between Felicity and Lane was done so well, the insecurities were endearing, the questions revealing, and the fears and walls start to crumble at the same time as they fall fast, deep, and for ever.
The whole fumble into lust and then learning to treasure and adore each other, accept the other with all the falls and fails and never give up was adorable, delightful and sexy. I smiled, sighed and even had a tear while reading because life is sometimes a mess like it was for Felicity and to see her conquer her fears from the past made me want to cheer out loud. I really connected with these characters and wanted the story to continue as I read the book in one sitting, not wanting to let go but to stay in the moment to make sure they both were in and building the foundation that their future could be build on.

The Scott Brothers of Montana is by far my favorite series by Katherine Garbera. Her Christmas Cowboy (Book 5) only reaffirmed that. It is a bittersweet story of life after tragic injuries sustained in Afghanistan. It is a gentle reminder of the true heroes in this country. Retired Marine Lane Scott fits that title to a T, even though he doesn’t see that. It is not for doing his job as a Marine but for the grace, determination and lack of self-pity in which he now lives his new life to the fullest. He makes this book worth reading. Felicity has so many hang-ups. I realized some were from the emotional abuse at the hand of an ex but she seemed predisposition to have them as a child. For me she was difficult to understand which makes Lane the perfect hero for her.

This is a relationship focused story with the author allowing the reader in Lane’s and Felicity’s head. It is not action-packed or a very fast moving plot. I found that it to be realistic the way most life happens. I enjoyed watching them take 2 steps forward and 1 step back so to speak as they may their journey to trust and love. Of course, it is always wonderful to catch up on all the people in Marietta but this reads well without having read any of the other brothers’ stories.

I really loved this story. The brutal honesty and acceptance between Lane and Felicity was so touching and just made you fall in love with them. Lane is not your typical hero. He is so much more. Facing life head on and never letting his wounds hold him back. Felicity is overwhelmed by her mother most of the time but most definitely around the holidays. Lane helps her find the strength the accept her mother and accept that she doesn't have to live up to the woman's expectations all the time.

This story will touch your heart in the most wonderful way. I highly recommend it.

This is a lovely ex class mates to more romance based in the delightful town of Marietta, Montana as the festive season approaches. Lane Scott was a Marine who lost both his lower legs whilst on active duty. He’s returned home but feels unsettled, not totally because of his injuries but he’s not sure what he’s missing - until the girl that wouldn’t go out with him in High School, Felicity Danvers, literally runs into him. She actually really wanted to go out with him back then but was too shy and reticent to do so. Now she’s a class teacher but her ex has totally destroyed her confidence in her ability to be worthy enough for anyone to love. Add in her mother who wants to make Christmas a time to be perfect and Felicity really isn’t totally into the festive spirit. As the two are still mutually attracted, can they overcome their fears and anxieties and let the Christmas spirit bring them both a chance of love and achieving their own HEA?

This is the fifth book in the series but works well as a standalone, too. Set in Marietta, it shares characters from other series and authors but concentrates on the Scott extended family members and the mother and sister of Felicity. The events include the Marietta Stroll and Christmas Ball, reference is made to characters from other related stories (for instance, the visiting Prince) but you really don’t have to have read them to appreciate this one. I found the characters easy to empathise with, they’re well portrayed and have plenty of emotional quandaries in their lives.

This is an enjoyable festive read, exploring some of the difficulties experienced by amputees, ex-Marines and emotionally abuse victims in a quick but riveting fun festive read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend this - and the other Marietta festive reads - to anyone who enjoys reading about Christmas love in a close knit community.

I requested an ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

Great read. Shows the natural human nature of people feeling insecure and like they are portrayed as more than they feel. Two people come together and have to choose how far they are willing ti put themselves out there, and if they can get past their self doubts.

A wonderfully inspiring Christmas story set in a quaint Montana town I wish I could live in. The characters have real personalities, with depth of character, and all their quirks. Felicity and Lane are truly inspiring, with their emotional flaws, and him with his physical challenges, but overcoming them together is what gives the story its warmth.

This is the fifth book in the Scott Brothers series, but the first I've read...now with my appetite for the this town and these people whet, I find the need to go back and read the other brothers' stories.

An emotional story that I had a hard time putting down.

Felicity Danvers had a huge crush on Lane Scott when they were in school together. But she was shy and afraid she wouldn’t be good enough for him, so she steered clear of him. When Lane returned to Marietta after a life altering injury in Afghanistan, he was a different man. He had lost both of his legs after stepping on and IED. Though he accepted his life as it was, he still felt something was missing. When Lane meets up with Felicity again and they start dating, he feels he has finally found a new meaning in his life. But first he must convince Felicity to trust him. With Lane’s love, Felicity is finally able to put her fears in the past and move on.

I was very impressed with this story. I don’t personally know anyone who lost limbs in a war, but after reading this book, I feel I know a lot about the subject. I enjoyed Lane and Felicity’s story and how they bought light to each other lives. The Christmas background was a fun addition too and the perfect tie in to the story.

Katherine Garbera tackles the tough topic of returning vets in HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY. The vets come home and are treated as heroes – as they should be – but what these brave men and women really need is to be accepted and welcomed back home. In HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY Katherine Garbera beautifully illustrates how some of these disastrous injuries can be tackled and with the help of medical science and guts these vets can regain most of their independence and confidence.

Lane Scott and Felicity Danvers each grew up in small town Marietta Montana. Went to school together and had candidly known each other and their respective families forever it seemed. The Scott brothers are a tight group of wonderful guys who love their parents. Losing their mother had left a permanent whole in their lives. Felicity had a close relationship with her own sibling – her sister – and now that their father was gone the two sisters had sort of closed ranks to help their mother adjust to the loss of her beloved husband. Both families had to adjust to their new normal so to speak.

Lane had left Marietta – glad to get away from the small town - joined the service and suffered severe injuries when an IED exploded. Lane has been busy trying to adjust to what is now his new normal and has admirably adapted to the prosthesis’ that replace his lower legs. Psychological issues will take longer to settle.

Both Lane and Felicity have had to face the fact that perfect is overrated. Felicity is her own worst enemy in many cases. She is so sure that relationships are for other people – not for her. Felicity sees herself through the eyes of others. What she needs to do is learn just how wonderful she truly is and that there are lots of people that love her – just the way she is.

You might say Lane and Felicity are perfect for one another. Each one has to learn that being perfect is highly overrated. Felicity shows Lane how love levels the field. She acknowledges Lanes injury but is willing and eager to reach beyond those to the man she has been attracted to for a very long time. It almost seems as if Lane has the biggest hurdle to deal with when getting through to Felicity and her insecurities.

Holiday time is a special time for most folks. It is a great time for new beginnings and both Lane and Felicity highly deserve the opportunity to reap the rewards of a new relationship between the two of them. Each is gun shy but anything worth having is worth the battle.

HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY is about taking risks – risks with your heart. Katherine Garbera has penned a lovely seasonal romance novel that reminds us of this miraculous season. HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY is about taking stock of what we are grateful for – plain and simple. HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY is a feel good tale about love and acceptance in an imperfect world.

I enjoyed this story. Lane and Felicity are old classmates turned lovers who come together during the Christmas season. A great holiday read.

Katherine Garbera has written this story so well! It's tricky writing about a hero who is a double amputee. It's tricky dealing with them in real life.
The thing is that like Lane, I suspect most if not all wounded veterans just want to be treated like normal people, while the rest of us don't really know whether to acknowledge the injury, show pity, empathy, ask questions or pretend it isn't there.
I liked Felicity's approach to the situation. She gave Lane "normal" and I truly admire Katherine Garbera for the way she developed these two characters to make this possible.
Oh and by the way, this is a really good story too.

I was so touched by Katherine Garbera’s sensitive, yet realistic portrayal of both Lane and Felicity in Her Christmas Cowboy that I would tell you right off the bat that this is a story you should read this Christmas season. This is a story of survival, a different type of survival beyond war injuries or low self confidence. Two people who have always had a slight crush since their high school days but nothing ever came of it now have a second chance to see what they might be together. In fact, they are perfect for each other exactly as they are, but it’s going to be a bit of a journey for them to get to that point. The journey there is at times sad, at times a bit angry at life and the actions of other people, yet underlying the sadness is a sense of hope. A belief that finally there is someone who “gets” them, makes them complete in a way that no one else ever has. There are fears to overcome, and acceptance to give – but watching Lane and Felicity find their way to each other was such a powerful, tender story that this one will stay in my mind for a very long time.

I don’t feel the need to go into details in this review. I really want you to take a chance on this story and read it for yourself. It is a beautiful love story, a festive Christmas story… and for two special people, it’s a chance to grab the best of life and go out and live it, enjoy it and take control of it… together. Tender. Satisfying. Emotionally gripping. Yeah, this is one that you need to experience first hand.

This book has everything I love in a Christmas novel. Small towns, nosey yet well meaning families and an endearing hero! Lane and Felicity are great together! Theirs is a cozy story with a lot of heart! This couple's happiness is well-deserved.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This is the story of Lace Scott and Felicity. It was interesting and touching. The characters were real and weren't shy in asking what the other one truly meant when he/she wrote or said this and that if they didn't quite understand or were afraid of misunderstanding. Felicity had some trust and self-love issues but she learned quickly that not everyone, especially Lane, is not like her ex-boyfriend. Everything that was said about amputees and their problems seemed realistic so it could be true too (I know zilch about that issue). Both H/h want to please the other without losing their identity for once; no mask wearing with the one they love, which gives the other the chance to see them as they are and accept them AS IS. The editing could use another pass but it wasn't distracting. This was my first book from the author. The books are all stand-alone and have their own HEA but the secondary characters intertwine in the books and if you want to know their story, read the other books in the series! - which is what I'm going to do....

Felicity always a biggest crush on Lane Scott when she was in high school. They almost shared a kiss but she chicken out and never remedy that.
Ever since Lane Scott came back to Marietta, he wasn’t the same as he was before. He retired from marine and being a double amputee wasn’t easy. Everyone in town saw him as a hero but he didn’t feel like a hero in his eyes.
Finally he was back at his family tree farm to help out and spend holiday with his folks, Felicity literally runs into Lane. Both felt the spark between them and they decided to see each other.
Felicity was struggling with her inner voice as well. Her ex-boyfriend really put her down so much she always doubted herself. She was afraid to approach Lane and she always felt she wasn’t good enough for him.
Every time Felicity wanted to move forward with Lane, her voice inside her head keep pushing her back.
Both were so sweet to each other and compliment each other but Felicity’s insecurities gets in the way of moving forward and Lane is afraid to ask too much.
Will Felicity let Lane in and let go of her insecurities???
It was really sweet and it was fun read for this holiday season.

Sweet and timely, Her Christmas Cowboy features Lane Scott, double amputee and Marine and Felicity Danvers who I simply don't remember showing up before. I've read the other Scott Brothers books but had to go back and do some checking to help me remember who was who.

I like Lane, though like with other veterans in Marietta, he seems to have a bit of a charmed existence with his issues. Stepping on an IED cost him both legs from the knee on down and some serious scarring now covered with a tattoo. He's got some seriously awesome prosthetics and more than one set, I might add. I'd have liked to learn more about them. That sounded to me like something that could really have been a big part of the story. Instead, he gets them adjusted slightly once and the rest of the time seems to have almost no problems. He and Felicity take a couple of tumbles and he does like to remove them in the evenings. From what I, admittedly barely, know about prosthetics, I'd want to remove them too. I did like the small detail about his kitchen counters having been lowered. But I wanted more detail about the impacts on his life and mostly what I got was how it didn't impact him all that much.

Most of Lane's issues seem to focus on survivor's guilt but that isn't really addressed in the book. Instead he just struggles. I feel like that was another missed opportunity. Especially in light of his travel to give speeches, it might have been nice to also talk about him getting professional help (which I don't think he did but he probably should have).

Felicity has been crushing on Lane since high school so when he asks her out she's surprised and has stars in her eyes. I liked how Felicity took the situation in stride, even making mistakes that most people unfamiliar with it all would make. She seemed the more real of the two. I liked her insecurities and how that made her struggle with Lane's interest in her.

In the end, they both understood that being themselves with all the difficulties and goodness that entails was just the way to go. It's a sweet story that missed a couple opportunities to be even better.
