Following on from their previous Misadventure, Holmes and Watson have naturally committed themselves to rescuing Sherlock’s wife Irene, but could she really be working for Moriarty?

Dr Watson holds a vital clue to the Professor M’s whereabouts, but it takes him a little while to realise this. Meanwhile, Holmes takes them on a hiking expedition in the Scottish Islands, and they end up following a trail of clues which Watson believes are imaginary. On the face of it, they uncover a simple whisky smuggling racket, but all is not as it seems.

Various characters from their past come back to haunt the detectives and they must disentangle the fortuitous reunions from the sinister conspiracies. Will Sherlock ever see his wife again? Even if he does, will trust be restored? And what on earth is Sherlock’s brother Mycroft up to?
