Description
The Art of the Classic Sports Car offers a beautifully illustrated review of decades of high-performance cars from around the globe, all shot in the studio.
Sports cars are the athletes of the automotive world. Always nimble and quick, often powerful, sports cars fly where other cars lumber, and dash where others plod. The definition of a sports car is somewhat fluid, still, most car fans feel that they know a sports car when they see one, and when asked to name a few will rattle off Jaguar, Corvette, Triumph, MG, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lotus, Alfa-Romeo, BMW, and many others.
Sports cars have offered road and track excitement for nearly 100 years. The original cars evolved for racing, but their appeal and popularity ensured that production versions were soon available for those whose sporting intents never left the boulevard or winding back road.
The Art of the Classic Sports Car offers enthusiasts a beautifully illustrated review of several decades of high-performance cars, featuring cars from around the globe all shot in the studio to ensure a handsome book. Each featured car includes a profile discussing the car's place in sports car history along with technical and performance specs as well as a smattering of historical images and period ads.

If you are a classic power car nut, then you need this book. It’s a look at some select and beautiful history. The book is broken up into four chapters: Classic Roadster, GTs, Sporting Coupes, and Race Bread. There are bigger books with more card, but the way these were photographed is art. Plus, the input from the author is nice to. I love to see cars I fell in love with as a child, such as the Porsche 356 or the cloud car as i grew up calling it. The book hits it out of the park from the beginning with a gorgeous black back AC Ace in metallic mermaid teal. And because it seems like the author and I have similar tastes there is also a fast time red devil Maserati 300s. A perfect gift for any gearhead.

Great pictures. I wish there was more information on the cars featured.
My review will be simple and to the point: I loved it.
Everything inside this book is marvelous. The quality of the photographs is impeccable and the writing parts are exquisite, beautifully detailed and written with evident love and deep knowledge, I'm sure that it will appease every car aficionado with an affinity for classic sports cars, out there.
You can see the fine work right from the very first page. The cover is distinctive enough to make an impression and when you open the book, you can be sure that it gets even better. The only thing I didn't like is that my edition isn't a hardcover.
Everything is neatly placed under one the following categories: Classic Roadsters, GTs, Sporting Coupes and Race Bred. My favorites were, the BMW 507, the MG TC Midget, the 356 Porsche, the Ferrari 250 California, the gorgeous Marcos 3-liter GT, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL...
We are talking about the ultimate car related, coffee table book.
The cars and the photographs are the stars. There is some short text about the well known and lesser known cars including technical information. The cars presented are works of art and craft and the photographs do them justice. Enjoy this virtual drive
This is a great book and my husband loved it! He is a massive car fan and he said that the book was full of facts and interesting details and would be ideal for any other classic car fans. The book is laid out really well, the pages are nice and bright and it is very easy to read - the highlight is most definitely the stunning photographs!
