Description
After years of living under her father’s thumb, Emmeline is ready to break free. She’s abandoned her life as a New York socialite to follow her dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small, wholesome town. Seeing the man that nearly broke her was absolutely not what she had hoped to find in Prescott, Montana.
Nick hasn’t seen his Emmy in nine years, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten a thing about the woman he loves. After just one blissful night as man and wife, he gave her up, sacrificing his own happiness to keep her safe—far away from him. But the moment she walks back into his lonely life is the moment he decides never to let her go again. He won’t waste his second chance. All he has to do is win back Emmeline’s heart, keep her safe from the shadows in his past and prove to her that taking a wager on him is a sure bet.

The Clover Chapel is my first book by Devney Perry but definitely not my last. It was great, and I have already downloaded the first book in the series. (This is the second.)
Who doesn’t love a married at first-meeting in Vegas? Emmeline (Emmy) and Nick meet in Vegas, fall in love within hours, and marry that night, but Nick vanishes the next morning only leaving a note saying, “sorry.” Nine years later, they are suddenly face to face again when Emmy moves to the small town in Montana where Nick lives. Fate, y’all! Emmy has a lot of questions for him, but she’s so angry that she's no even sure she truly wants the answers.
But Emmy and Nick are not divorced. She tried to find him but never could, but she didn’t divorce him on the grounds of abandonment although she could have. Nick never stopped loving her but didn’t ever seek her out, and he didn’t try to initiate a divorce. When he sees her again, he realizes he wants to right the wrongs of the past, and he wants Emmy. He is a man on a mission to get her back.
Problem - Emmy has a boyfriend of five years back in New York; therefore, she’s not jumping at the chance to get back together with Nick. She’s drawn to him but confused. He convinces her to give him a chance, and he is swoon-worthy in his patient and considerate pursuit. They have a lot of past and pain to churn through, and their happy-ever-after is not guaranteed. Things get even more complicated when some mysterious incidents that threaten Emmy beginning happening.
Emmy and Nick are great together and have wonderful chemistry. I loved how hard he fell for her - in the beginning and nine years later - and his commitment to recovering their relationship. He’s pretty dreamy and sexy, and Emmy is a great match for him. I thoroughly enjoyed The Clover Chapel, and I highly recommend it. I’m looking forward to reading more from Ms. Perry.
PS. I love this cover!
