A Texas Christmas Mystery by Anne Greene was a good story with a mystery, suspense and romance. Derrick is working on an oil rig when a young man is murdered and all the evidence points to him. Amber works for the Coast Guard and is investigating accidents on the rig. She is also Derricks landlord. Is he guilty? As she gets to know him she begins to wonder and the sparks begin to fly. This is the first story I've read by Anne Greene and will check out more of her books. I received this book from NetGalley for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

At only 87 pages, this book packs a bit of a punch. The author does a wonderful job of describing the characters. The little details about what they are thinking and their actions really make the book come alive. There are also detailed descriptions about the settings.

One thing I really appreciate is that the author didn’t introduce character after character. It was easy to keep everyone straight in my mind; sometimes I have to make lists to help sort everyone out! I like it when books aren’t overly populated.

This nice, easy-to-read book with a good plot and a neatly wrapped up ending is perfect for this busy time of year. The price for the ebook is really inexpensive too!

A Texas Christmas Mystery is a fantastical murder mystery. You have a romance between the suspect and the one who is looking into the murder - the female Coast Guard. Amber is New to being an Ensign in the Coast Guard. She is the one who is heading the investigation into the murder of this poor man. The murder is done on the Oil Rig and the dead body was holding something of the Suspect's. There just something doesn't seem right to her, so she and Derreck - the suspect ------ hey now I am not going to tell you what that is - but it is something and does it turn out great or disastrous? Do they turn out great or disastrous?

A Texas Christmas Mystery by Anne Greene is one of those books that caught me rather by surprise while reading. This one is relatively short at 87 pages but the author sure managed to pack a lot into this little holiday novella.

Our two main characters Amber and Derrick have sort of a passing knowledge of one another since Derrick rents from Amber but working out on the oil rigs he’s hardly ever around for her to have gotten to know him. It just so happens that their first real encounter comes after a murder had taken place on the rig with Derrick being a possible suspect. Amber is just starting out her career with the coast guard when she’s sent out to Derrick’s rig.

Even with the short length the author packed in a budding romance, a murder mystery to solve along with setting up the story so the reader gets a great feel for the characters and setting. Such great depth given to this one that I never really felt that longing that things were missing as usually happens with most novellas. I even felt as if the side characters such as Amber’s grandmother, a favorite of mine, popped right off the pages.

In the end I’d definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a quick little mystery with a touch of clean romance involved.

A nice cozy mystery with a touch of romance. More a novella than a novel, it is fun to read. It has a sound plot and enjoyable characters.
Recommended if you want to read a very enjoyable novella

Book received from NetGalley.

I liked it, it was a cute short Christmas mystery novel. It was what I needed at the time since I missed out on most of Christmas due to the flu. It gave me a chance to hold on to the holiday just a little bit longer.

This was a short, but well developed and entertaining mystery. I enjoyed the surprises along the way and things I didn't see coming. Fun Christmas read.

A short, fast paced romantic suspense story set in Galveston, Texas. An interesting setting for a mystery, taking place in part on an oil rig in the Gulf, a perfect backdrop for sabotage and a murder.
The main characters become involved in solving the crime, drawing them closer, from passing acquaintances to partners. The romantic tension heats up quickly, on the swoony side of instalove, but stays clean and tender. This would make an interesting plot for a longer novel, with more room for character development. It seemed like there was some prejudice aimed at Derrick as they called him "the Cajun". He seemed to take it in stride though, working hard to meet his personal goals, and clear his name. I liked his heart for reaching out to teens at church and how it showed his faith in action. The conclusion was sweet and a bit surprising.
Fans of love inspired romances with some suspense may enjoy this story. 3.5 stars
