Description
She lives her life on the fly. His heart is double-knotted to home. Can two different souls create a life together?
Popular travel writer and podcaster Katie Campbell roams the world collecting other people's stories. She's built a career as "Miss Adventure," known for saying yes to anything new--country, food, or experience--and predictably finding those adventures taking a downward turn into misadventures.
Offered the chance to explore her ancestral roots through a three-week Edwardian experience, Katie finds herself immersed in the beauty and eccentricity of Scotland. In her period attire, with traditional foods and activities, the opportunities for misadventures are endless, especially with the presence of a maniacal macaw, a jealous co-worker, and an all-too-surly Scotsman.
Reclusive and protective Graeme MacKerrow doesn't venture far from his island home. A stoic Scotsman, Graeme's comfort zone has always been family, and after his sister's death, he's even more determined to save the MacKerrow ancestral home and keep those he loves close. The sudden intrusion of a six-foot-one American lass, famous for her traveling misfortunes, was far from his plan.
As this world of folklore, community, and woodworkers-in-kilts tempts Katie to discover her own story, could this one grand series of misadventures lead her directly to where she belongs? And would a settled-in-Scot ever risk loosening his grip on what's familiar to allow a wanderlust writer a home in his heart? How could their very different worlds share the same page of life's story when "home" is in two very different places? But maybe home--and the future--isn't quite what either one imagined it would be. Maybe home is less about a place . . . and more about a person.

SOME LIKE IT SCOT by PEPPER BASHAM is the story of two very different people meeting, someimes in perilous situations due to Katie Campbell’s propensity for misfortune, on the beautiful island of Mull in Scotland. Katie, who is a travel writer, known as Miss Adventure, writes brilliant and hilarious stories for World on a Page, and has been sent by her editor to take part in an Edwardian Experience being held at Craighill House. ……
Katie at six foot one with fiery red hair, quick wit and a lovely sense of humour, meets huge and handsome Scot, Graeme MacKerrow, first of all finding him grumpy when she breaks the bannister he has just repaired and falls over the edge of the stairs landing on top of him!……
I love the characters - the unusual people taking part in the Edwardian Experience, Mirren MacKerrow, and her family, her matchmaking knitting club friends, and of course Katie, Graeme and his nephew Lachlan.
The book is laugh out loud amusing in parts and serious in others as we see two damaged people getting to know one another.
I cannot recommend this beautifully written and heartwarming story highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson

“Sometimes home is a place. Sometimes it’s a person. Sometimes it’s both.”
It is rare that a story renders me speechless, but I am truly struggling to find the words to sum up all this story meant to me. My only complaint would be having to try to be patient as I wait for the paperback copy to release next year.
I've read over 250 books this year, and THIS one, is now in the number 1 spot!
This review may be a jumbled of mess of ramblings because truthfully I loved the story so much I can't figure out how to put that love on the page. Plus I don't want to give too much away. But here you go anyway...
Katie is a traveling blogger, a pun queen, and a source of what I can only assume is bad luck, that she twists into instant fame. She needs this job here in Scotland for her career but also for her personal growth. She's here for an event but also because it reminds her of her Grandparents, the closest thing she had to a "home." Graeme is the owner of the place where the event is taking place, hes also the contractor making the repairs, the Scottish hero ( you'll see why soon enough), the butler lol, a dance partner, and a man who will change Katie's life... but little does she know that just yet. She literally falls into Graemes grumpy arms and from there they instantly butt heads. But there is a thin line between love and hate... and the more time they spend together those feelings soon morph into something more real!
Everyone's running from something. Sometimes it's a past they can't leave behind, a loss they can't stop grieving, or perhaps BOTH those things are holding you captive until you pray, process, and heal.
When life let's you down enough times you start doubting everything, including God's plan and his goodness and you put walls up to protect your heart and start making your own way in life. But when we shy away from love, settling down, taking that leap... that was never Gods plan. Graeme and Katie have to learn that through their faith in him, and the people he will place in their lives ( like each other) they can step out on faith, take a risk, dare to make plans, and allow time for love.
How Pepper Basham manages to have me laughing one second, crying the next, swooning over a Graeme moment, or at the edge of my seat waiting for all the feels... Idk how she does it! I was on an emotional roller coaster, and I did not want to get off! Lol! You all, I just can't sum up this book is words, there are none. I went in looking for a Scottish romance and boy did I get that. But gosh, it also just spoke to my heart a bit, spoke to my faith, my path in life, healing, growth, and moving on. And gosh the two main characters phew... Graeme is grumpy on the exterior but such a sweet soul on the inside. And Katie is so confident and happy on the outside, but she is second-guessing, insecure, and running away from her situation, scared that if she settles down , life will disappoint her again. Both of them are operating on fear, something their loved ones have been telling them they have been doing. But they don't realize it, until they meet each other....
Can Katie help Graeme to step out of his comfort zone, take some risks, show his talents, plan for more of a future? Can Graeme help Katie accept who she is, remind her she's enough, help her find a new place to call home and perhaps allow him to be her home? All that is only possible through God's power, but perhaps he will work through them, to help the other heal?!
Just for fun....
Random quotes completely out of context:
(This was an ARC, so quotes may change after the book is released)
"I was under the influence of hot Scotness . . . or Scot hotness."
"Parrot in the drawing room with a hairband.”
“My Morning as an Edwardian Burrito.” Perfect title for an article.

Some like It Scot is a romantic tale full of witty banter and hilarious mishaps, but the story also delves deep into what it means to find a true home where people love and except you just for who you are. 5 stars!
Travel writer Katie Campbell is a six foot klutz who's traveled to Scotland to write about an authentic Edwardian experience. She manages to find herself in one scrape after, "...misadventures are my stores to tell. And Miss Adventure...is me". Such great wordplay.
Carpenter and wood carver Graeme MacKerrow finds himself constantly thrown into the role of Katie's rescuer hero whether he wants to be or not. Neither is looking for a relationship but somehow that doesn't seem to alter the outcome. Both are perfectly imperfect characters with hurtful histories, yet the pair manage to make me laugh and cry almost simultaneously. They were interesting and quirky and definitely the focus of the story, but I also got a heartful of charm from Graeme's nephew Lachlan. After all, what's not to love about an eight year old saying, "I wager it would take the two of us to help keep you alive..." So cute!
There is a plethora of Scottish words I've never heard, and I loved them all. Such as "Lang may yer lum reek!" which meant "May you live long and prosper!". So much fun all the way through the book.
There were so many meaningful and honest quotes that were so touching and true. A few of my favorites,
*"Sometimes one dream has to bow to another, and that's okay."
*"Love doesna stop when bodies do. It's one of the comforts in losing a loved one, ye ken? The love lingers on."
Author Pepper Basham's stories just keep getting better and better. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy a great inspirational love story with humor and depth. I appreciate Thomas Nelson making a copy of Some Like It Scot available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

Oh man. WHAT a beautiful book. I absolutely adored this one so much. I went in pretty much blind, and I expected a light, Scottish romcom; instead, I read one of the most thought provoking, faith-oriented, romances ever! This read was so stunning. I love every minute of it! I highly recommend this one!
rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
spice/language: clean!
thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my early and complementary copy of this book!

This is my first Pepper Basham book, and I'm certain it won't be my last! If you like fun Hallmark Christmas movies, you'll love this book. I fell in love with the main character, Katie, and thoroughly enjoyed following her adventures (and mishaps!) as she traveled to Scotland to work on her writing project.
Watching the character growth both from Katie and her Scotsman was a delight. I enjoyed seeing them each work through their own issues, and how working through those issues ended up pulling them closer in the end.
This was a fun read!
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Pepper, this book is fantastic! I loved every minute of it. It was absolutely adorable. I loved the characters and their sweet story.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions.
It has been long since I've felt all the feels of a romantic swoon, and this book filled my heart with a renewed faith in love and what love can do to a person. I kept wishing for this book not to end for me to continue immersing myself in the richness of the love story between Graeme (I pronounce this as "grim" in my head; I hope that is correct 😂) and Katie. These two give a whole different meaning to love, 🥰🥰 and I love it for them.
Katie, the travel writer who does not have roots in any place, meets Graeme, who has a loving family in Mull and is not thinking of going anywhere any time soon.
After meeting our two MCs, I thought that maybe this was just going to be a fling, but alas, with these two, the word fling doesn't quite fit with them.
Another amazing thing I loved about this book was that both of our MCs are creatives and how Graeme did everything he could to support Katie despite all her misadventures.
This review won't be complete if I don't applaud the author for a wonderful job of bringing Scotland and the island of Mull to life. I haven't been to Scotland, but it felt like I was right there with them.
I giggled, I laughed, and I almost cried, and I think I might need a hot Scot who will call me lass.🥰. Now is the time to go through all the books written by Pepper Basham 😩.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Get ready for a book you won't want to put down! I have read many of Basham's books but this one is her best yet! Scotland. Travel. Books. Romance. Humor. Puns. Local lore and legend. SO much heart. Oh my goodness I loved this book! A story is really special if it can make me laugh and cry and feel everything in between. The characters are terrific all the way around. Katie is hilarious and so real to life. Her struggles many will be able to sympathize with and it is so well written. Graeme has so many layers and it was a joy to read his perspective throughout the book. The secondary characters warmed my heart in many ways and I felt like I was in Mull having a cup of tea with them. I laughed so many times! I was worried that Katie would be over the top and the silliness would take me out of the book but nope it just added to the delight. The ending is so much better than I had even hoped! It was realistic and I truly didn't want this to end. We need more books in this quaint village in Scotland. Perhaps Graeme's brothers stories?! In any case. This is one of the best books I have read this year. Very fun and yet keeps you pondering life long after you finish reading the last page.
Five Stars.
"I received this book from NetGalley for free. All opinions are my own and I was not required to write a positive review."

Such a fun book! Loved every minute of it. I love banter, I love romance! If you do and want a bit of Scot then pick it up for sure!

"Some Like It Scot" is a charming romance about Katie, a travel writer prone to misadventures, and Graeme, a reclusive Scotsman tied to his island home. Their unlikely connection blossoms during Katie’s trip to Scotland, where her adventurous spirit clashes with Graeme’s need for stability.
With witty banter, heartwarming moments, and a picturesque Scottish setting, Pepper Basham delivers a fun and sweet love story. It’s a delightful, feel-good read about finding home and love in unexpected places. Perfect for fans of light-hearted romance!

Katie is a travel writer, sharing her adventures or misadventures as it normally works out to be with her social media fans. Her latest assignment is to spend three weeks in Scotland living her very own Downton Abbey Edwardian experience.
I've read stories before about the clumsy girl heading to the Scottish Highlands to find herself a Scottish man, but the inclusion of this modern day time jump gave it a fun spin.
I really enjoyed Pepper's writing, and found myself both laughing and crying at different times, and will be looking into her other works to add to my TBR list.

I did not want this book to end. SO cute, so witty, yet also sweet reminders of faith and growth as people. I loved the Scotland setting and wanted to dive into the scenery. I love how Pepper used Scottish words throughout the book and you could sense the character's accents and culture. Another modern funny romance perfected by Pepper!

Thank you to NetGalley & Thomas Nelson for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’m giving this book five stars for so many incredible reasons.
I loved the idea of a travel writer and it being set in Scotland. The entire setting made it just the perfect, cozy fall read. If you’re craving the Scottish setting, so much lore and the accents this is the perfect book for you.
Although I found the beginning slow, I adored reading about Graeme and Katie. I loved the authors writing style and was laughing out loud and crying at different points in the book. Seeing how both main characters handled grief and learning to open their hearts again in their own ways was really beautiful. I also absolutely loved Lachlan and found him to be an amazing addition to their story.

This story is set in Scotland and is one that is hard to put down. Love this authors stories and this one is another winner. Her characters are easy to relate to and well developed and relatable. Katie is a travel writer who often showcases some of the situations she gets herself into without even trying, and Graeme and his family own the old manor where her Edwardian Experience will take center stage and have her in one place for 3 weeks, unheard of. Beautiful descriptions of the area and a good cast of characters, though Graeme's family and the knitters would be considered great additions. Katie is adorable and Graeme is spending a lot of time coming to her rescue, even an embarrassing rescue. Also really liked Katie's brother Brett and was thankful she has his solid support behind her. Definitely a book to be added to a readers collection.
A complimentary copy was provided by Thomas Nelson via NetGalley. A review was not required and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pepper Basham books are an auto buy for me. So I was very excited to be able to read Some Like It Scot.
I loved that the main characters were so relatable, and the theme of a travel writer in Scotland was excellent. This book was hard to put down just like all the other ones she has written. Such a cute and lovely story that everyone will love!
Thank you for an arc @netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction

I absolutely loved this story! These heartwarming delightful characters, laugh-out-loud moments, the beautiful setting, and of course the deep faith, all blending together into an amazing story that I didn’t want to put down! I wasn’t ready for the story to end, I’d have happily lingered with them longer!
(I volunteered to review an early copy of this book. I am not required to write a review. The thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.)

Oh my. Pepper Basham just has a way with her words that brings be deep into her stories. Not only are they so RELATABLE, but the characters are just real. I fell in love with Katie from the first paragraph and just continued to want her to be my friend throughout the book. She reminded me of some of my friends growing up.
Gramme was every woman's dream man in a kilt. The play between the two of them was just great. There were so many times I laughed and then had tears. Mark's the "eejit"'s episode with the staircase cracked me up. But the pivotal laughter was 100% the dinner party. I read it over and over because it was just so good. I need to see it in film.
Actually i need this book in film. The challenge would be finding the right actress as not many actresses are 6'1" with red hair. And changing that would spoil everything!!!
The nod to Jaime Jo Wright was delightful! When I mentioned it in a Christian fiction group on FB, she didn't even know there was one and commented with shock.
This book just had everything for me. Excellent lessons in faith (I wrote two passages down for later). Joy. Sorrow. Self-worth. God's value on you. It's a must read.
5 stars
*Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC of this book to review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Recently I had the honor of reading an ARC copy of Pepper Basham's Some Like It Scot. I loved the way Pepper created beautiful word pictures of a country I would love to visit someday. The book takes place on a small Scottish Isle as Katie Campbell, a travel writer, shares her Misadventures with her blog followers. She is taken in by a wonderful group of people who live on the island. Graeme MacKerrow has lived there all his life and doesn't trust outsiders, especially red headed women who like to travel.
I found the story to be delightful and the scenery magnificent. I adore the way Pepper weaves faith throughout the story as easy as breathing. I highly recommend Some Like It Scot. The only downside is you will have to wait until April 0f 2025 to enjoy it.
So be sure to pre-order your copy today.
I was given a copy of Some Like it Scot with no expectations All thoughts are my own.

1. Overview:
A brilliant Rom-Com set in Isle of Mull, Scotland. Miss Misadventure a.k.a Katie Campbell a travelling writer meets Graeme MacKerrow on an assignment in Scotland. Katie is invited to a three-week Edwardian experience with various other participants and meets the Grumpy Scot who thinks the Edwardian experience is ludicrous to begin with. Neither is looking for love, but Katie finds a home in Graeme, and his family, and Mull and Graeme meet his match in Katie. Through mishaps and life’s being safe, mostly Katie’s life the novel unfolds.
2. What did I like:
- The novel has blazing humor which made me chuckle more than once.
- The characters' feelings are substantiated so that the reader builds a deep understanding of the characters in the story.
I loved the misadventures created
- The plot is not solely focused on the two main characters and Katie forms a relationship with little Lachlan, Mirren, and the knitting club.
3. What I did not like:
- As a personal preference I prefer a little more dialogue and a little less descriptive writing, but the novel moves at a good pace.
4. Ratings and Final Thoughts:
I love this novel and would read it again. The story was inspiring and would uplift anyone’s frown to a smile. I would rate Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham 5 out of 5.

More than 5 stars! This is an amazing book filled with humor, crazy animals, unbelievable "accidents," and true love! Scotland has been on my bucket list, and I definitely want to visit it now! ( preferably during the Highland Games)😄 🏴.
I can honestly say that I connected with Katie on many levels. She loves listening to stories, she's an encouraging person, she loves to travel and she attracts all kinds of crazy animals! Graeme, oh be still my heart! He gives off grumpy vibes, but he's all marshmallow fluff! Lachlan is the cutest! I love the way he talks!
The idea of the Edwardian experience absolutely thrills me! To spend 3 weeks immersed in Downton Abbey cosplay sounds fantastic! Throw in a precocious macaw and a devious weasel; fun times will be had!
The story is filled with both the bitter and the sweet. Katie and Graeme have painful pasts, but as they start to heal, their hearts find true love.
I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from Thomas Nelson via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Some Like it Scot is a smashing hit! I absolutely loved it. It’s a romcom at its finest. An accident prone heroine, a dashing “hot Scot” rescuer, an adorable kid, and a warm welcoming family will all draw the reader into the story with strings that will wrap around your heart. This is one family and love story that I won’t easily forget!

Some Like it Scot is perfect!!! I would give it 10 stars if if I could! The characters are great, the setting is beautiful and the story is everything.
Pepper is a master of great storytelling. No one should miss Katie, the #hotscot and all the lovable and sometimes irritating cast of characters.
Ps. My new favorite word is eejit! 😉
I was given a copy by the editor via NetGalley for my honest review.

What a delightful story!!!
When I need a laugh-out-loud funny, sweet, and romantic story, I know I can count on a Pepper Basham book! I have to say, I absolutely like it Scot along with Katie Campbell. Katie is a most genuine, self-deprecatingly funny person, she is a travel writer, and photographer who shares her "Miss Adventures" with her followers. Her latest assignment takes her to Scotland where she meets the cranky but gorgeous Graeme MacKerrow. I love her nicknames for him "Hateful Highlander", "Sulky Scott", "Stoic Scot", "Mr. Grump" to name a few. Despite calling himself an "eejit", Graeme is attracted to this tall, funny, prone-to-mishaps visitor from America. "Few things appealed to a Scotsman like a keen sense of humor." Their banter was so much fun.
Katie meets the delightful Mirren, owner of the local bookstore, and Katie's "grin responded to her humor without hesitation." The Wednesday morning "Stories and Stitches" book club are a hoot. Mirren is a kind, funny, and loving woman about Katie's mother's age. Mirren tells her "every person's story is worth hearing Katiegirl."
I adored the 8 year old Lachlan and his dog Wedge. I got as much of a kick out of his expressions and accent as Katie did.
I love the author's nods to the game Clue. "Miss Adventure in the sitting room with a fishing pole."
Even though he is anonymous, Graeme is the handsome guy behind #HotScot trending on Katie's social media. The sight of him in a kilt at the Highland games left Katie speechless.
The scenery descriptions are stunning.
I love the way Pepper seamlessly weaves faith throughout the story.
Graeme's family is wonderful, funny, and one that anyone would love to be a part of. They too have had their share of loss. Katie is close to her brother, but the rest of her family has been distant since her sister died many years ago. Her travel career is satisfying but also a way to run away from how things were.
Some Like it Scot is a delightfully funny, sweet journey of healing and finding belonging. I highly recommend it!
Thank you to the publisher Thomas Nelson and Net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. I loved every minute of it, and all opinions are my own.

I absolutely love Pepper Basham’s novels.
This is a great one about a goofy precious young woman find her way.
I also enjoyed the wink at another series wondering if this will be a continuation!

Pepper Basham’s latest, Some Like it Scot, is a beautiful story about a traveling Photojournalist known for her mishaps, and a Scot who’s trying to create a new life from some messy, broken pieces.
Again, Katie is confident in her skills, but, having lived most of her life ‘not good enough’ and never measuring up, it’s really difficult for her to accept when some people actually think she’s worth being around. Fear of disappointing them wars with hope that she may have found her people.
Graeme’s fears, having been proven valid a few times now, aren’t letting him trust that any new opportunities, personal or professional, are going to prove worth the risk.
Watching both of them begin to trust, and even think differently about themselves, is beautiful. And hilarious with their running pun-war.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

1#SomeLikeItScot #NetGalley
Katie Campbell is always getting in one scrape or another, and it's a good thing
that she gets paid for her mis adventures as a travel writer and poscaster. Her
latest adventure takes her to Scotland and Graeme MacKerrow, who is raising
his nephew and likes to stay close to home. When their two worlds collide,
Graeme is a little skeptical and wants nothing to do with this ginger haired
American. What a fun read.

Oh, wow! I absolutely loved this book! I enjoyed the humor of Katie’s misadventures. I enjoyed all the friends she met during her stay on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, especially Graeme’s family. Katie would go for walks, and we learned about some of the countryside and the manor house. I enjoyed meeting Graeme, who had hurts in the past to overcome. Katie likes to travel, Graeme does not. How was the author going to bring them together? I loved that there were Scottish words interspersed throughout, but the book wasn’t written in the vernacular Scottish brogue, so it was very easy to read. You could read the brogue into it yourself if you wanted to. There was a light faith thread too. I think the plot was fantastic and the book is magnificent! I read the book through NetGalley, but my review is my own true opinion.

What a sweet love story! I love all the puns. The Scottish accent in my head as I imagined Graeme speaking was fantastic ❤️ I enjoyed every bit of this book.

Brilliant I loved this story. It brought back so many great memories of my Glaswegian uncle. I enjoyed all aspects, but most of all the found family. I really hope that one day this story will be brought even further to life with an audio book 😍

Another absolute winner from this author. I thought it was part of the skymar series when I added it to my list but it isn’t. What a great new book. I could see so many chances for stories with these characters .
I loved Katie’s story so much and her wounded way of looking at the world with humor and positivity. Graeme was such a lovable bore of a Scot His rough exterior quickly lead to the soft interior and his desire to take care of others.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Well, this was just the most heartwarming story I've read in a while! Pepper Basham has created two flawed, but utterly beautiful main characters who just stole my heart. And red headed sidekick, Lachlan, was just the icing on the cake!
A travel writer named Katie and a man named Graeme (who shows up in a kilt here and there) combine in this sweet romance in Scotland. There may or may not be a feisty Highland coo as well!
I received an arc from netgalley, but all enthusiastic opinions are my own!

Whew, what a story!! It took me a bit to find my rhythm in this one, but that was mostly due to life’s distractions.
This story is so, so good!
And relatable!!
Parts of Katie’s story had me crying, and others had me laughing…
This story is about finding a place to belong. But, it's so much more than that - it's finding those people that truly make you feel at home.
Katie is hilarious. And her #hotscot was fun to read about, too!
This story is one of my favorites of the year, and that's saying a lot!!
I can’t wait to read more about these delightful characters!

Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham is a wonderful rom-com with heart.
Katie Campbell is a travel writer notorious for her misadventures. The mishaps Katie gets into during her visit to Scotland made me laugh out loud several times while reading. Yet, there’s more to Katie Campbell than the accidents that seem to happen to her wherever she goes. Hidden inside her is the deep desire to be loved unconditionally. Then there’s Graeme MacKerrow. This “hot Scot” might give all the classic “grump” vibes, but underneath his brusqueness is a tender heart. I especially liked how several characters in the story, including Graeme, show God’s unconditional love to Katie. And both main characters learn to trust God more. By the time I was reading the last 10% or so of the book, I was crying happy sappy tears that wouldn’t quit. It was such a sweet, romantic story! Simply wonderful!
A five star read for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you enjoy stories set in Scotland, hilarious yet relatable characters, and a happily ever after ending, then be sure to grab a copy of Some Like it Scot! I will be preordering a copy to reread for sure!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An instant add to my favorite books list! A perfect read for anyone looking for a romantic story with plenty of humor.
Anyone who has ever felt like they don't quite belong, and struggles with self-image, plus dysfunctional family dynamics, will find a kindred spirit in Katie. Loved her optimism and kindness towards others, even those who were difficult. I smiled and laughed out loud through the whole book. There are some serious parts too, with a bit of inspiration to add depth and hope.
A slow burn romance with a lot of fun banter, and some swoon worthy kisses, should satisfy any romance fans. Throw in some charming side characters, especially the wise Mirren, an adorable boy, and even a villain, and there is enough to keep it interesting clear through. It made me want to visit Scotland and see the places mentioned.
This was a book to savor and enjoy at a leisurely pace, though it would be easy to read in just a few sittings too. I didn't want it to end! It would make a fun vacation or beach read. Highly recommend! 5 stars

Delightfully witty, filled with mental scenery and a host of characters bringing joy to readers. Prepare for snickers and grins from Katie's mishaps as she finds adventures and more within the Scottish island.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

I loved all things about this book.
That Katie was a tall girl and Graeme was an extra large guy. They both had their insecurities but together they made it work for the best.
And I adored 8 year old Lachlan and his dog, Wedge.
The book totally made me want to visit Scotland. I never understood why others yearned to go there. But now, I’m all in. Pepper’s descriptions of the land were so appealing and fascinating.
I really liked the ending! The faith thread was so relevant and woven throughout the story.
All in all, this book is so well written and appealing in so many ways, I am sure I will be recommending it to everyone!
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

Love, love, love this book!! Captivating storyline, enduring characters, and breathtaking scenery, what more could you want? This story is good for the heart and had me smiling and sometimes laughing out loud as I read it. Expertly written in such detail the words come to life in your imagination from the gorgeous views of Scotland, the funny antics Katie finds herself in not to mention the hot Scot, Graeme.
Katie Campbell is a traveling journalist and podcaster who mishaps always follow. Her funny antics showcase her great sense of humor and adventure. Traveling to her ancestral homeland of Scotland will prove to challenge her thinking of herself, family, home, and her own story. I love the sense of humor, kindness, and genuineness of her character!
Graeme MacKerrow is a traditional Scotsman who loves his family and homeland above all. His fight to save his family home leads him to lent it to out to bring in money causing his path to collide with American Katie Campbell. Although from different worlds, can these two discover things are not always as different as they seem and perhaps discover more about their own story?
This book is a must read! It is humorous, romantic, entertaining, and yet thought provoking. I had a difficult time putting it down and was sad to see it end!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Me! I like it Scot! No surprise, Pepper Basham's latest is a delight. The Scottish setting is magical. Katie's journey to finding a place to belong, and people to belong with, is so relatable. As is her difficulty in resisting the #hotscot in her life. Graeme is definitely swoon-worthy, what with his heroic tendencies and his accent. I adored Graeme's family, specifically his mom, Mirren, and his little nephew, Lachlan. They added a sweet family vibe to the story, giving Katie a sense of home and family that had been sorely missing in her life.
Katie's misadventures and love of puns adds a laugh-out-loud humor to the story. She ends up with several run-ins with wildlife native to the islands, most notably highland cows and puffins. And the Edwardian experience adds plenty of opportunity for hijinks.
If you love the grumpy/sunshine romance trope, gorgeous settings, a fancy manor home, adorable kids, and interactions with local wildlife, Some Like it Scot is for you!

REVIEW-Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham
Filled with all the feel-good, romantic high points! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you like a story which provides a virtual visit to a charming isle in Scotland, the warmth of a tight knit community, and a ruggedly handsome kilt-wearing hero, this is a book for you!
Such fun happens when the travel-writing heroine, Katie Campbell, finds herself attending a three-week reenactment of the Edwardian time period at an impressive manor house on an old estate. During the experience, she encounters various “misadventures” where, Graeme MacKerrow, the Hot Scot, truly comes to her rescue.
I enjoyed the development of the grumpy/sweet romance between two different personalities who reluctantly realized they were meant for each other. The slow burn is delicious as the attraction between the couple heats. Be still, my Scottish-loving heart!
Plus a story with a cute bookshop which serves tea and scones is definitely my kind of happy place. I truly found this story, with its sweet thread of hope and faith, a delight! Author Pepper Basham skillfully creates a touching romance and a charming community filled with heartwarming characters I’ll long remember.

Travel writer Katie Campbell doesn’t stay in one place for too long. Cause when you stay, you get attached, and if there’s one thing Katie doesn’t need, it’s getting attached to a place or people. But staying at Craighill House and meeting Graeme McKerrow threatens all of that. The misadventure of Miss Adventure land her in the lives of Graeme and his family, and for the first time in a long time, Katie begins to learn what it means when for home to be a place and a person.
So here’s the thing. I loved Authentically, Izzy and Positively, Penelope. Like, really loved them. This book completely blew them out of the water. I cannot begin to tell you when the last time was I laughed to hard reading a book. As funny as this book was though, it was also filled with so much heart. At its heart, this book is really about finding where you belong, and I feel like Pepper Basham perfectly wove the faith element through that theme. And don’t even get me started on how much I loved the setting of this book! Scotland? Check. Downton Abbey-esque house with plenty of Downton Abbey references? Check. Check. The whole book from start to finish was just an absolute pleasure to read!
I cannot recommend this book enough if you’re looking for a good wholesome rom-com filled with some really great faith elements!
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Kilts. Macaws. Edwardian experiences. I knew it was going to be so good and so quirky. And being a Pepper Basham book, so full of feelings and sweet romance. This book had me from the very beginning.
Basham gives us great characters in this story. Katie has one misadventure after another. Is this another one? Graeme is grumpy and oh so Scottish. Can he ever loosen up? And then there are several secondary characters that will draw you in as well. They’re fabulous and I’m sure I need a trip to Scotland to meet them all.
I also love the faith thread that was throughout Some Like It Scot. It wouldn’t be a Basham book without it. She is unabashedly a faith writer.
If you want a rom com with faith, feelings, and laughter you’ll enjoy this story of finding where you belong. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

This book was great! I loved the story so much and I could not put this book down. The romance and banter was so fun!

This book has it all! Hilarious moments and lines, a hot Scot(🥰), and a wonderfully written main character searching for her place to belong. This is easily one of the best books I have read this year. Pepper’s books never disappoint! I will be preordering a copy for my keeper shelf stat!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Surprisingly enough, this was my first ever read by Pepper Basham and it certainly did not disappoint! As soon as I started reading, I could tell that I loved her writing style. It instantly pulled me into the story and kept me highly entertained until the end! Pepper’s talent with descriptive writing painted such a vivid picture of beautiful Scotland in my mind’s eye.
This book had some of my favorite tropes including a grumpy/sunshine trope that was absolute perfection! I loved that the FMC was not your average, petite character but rather 6’ tall and “well-built” 🤭 The fact that Graeme was able to make her feel small was the best! The meet-cute was one of the best meet-cutes I’ve read in a while; it really showed off the main character’s personalities to a T 😂
Katie didn’t have a place she considered home and traveling the world for a job certainly didn’t help matters. When she arrives in Scotland and falls instantly in love with the raw beauty of the country and possibly a local Scotsman, could she possibly begin to consider setting down roots? Katie’s life has had its fair share of pain and quite a bit more than its fair share of mishaps, or misadventures as she dubs them. Can she finally find peace and healing in the beautiful country of Scotland? Can she possibly trust someone enough with her brokenness and choose to stay with them?
Graeme was the perfect counterpart for vivacious Katie, with all of her wildness and misadventures. His was a calm and easygoing life now made a bit more wild by a certain redheaded American, but he was able to be that strong and secure presence she needed in her life. Graeme had his fair share of hurts and pain over the years as well and I love that they were able to finally find some semblance of healing together ♥️
This book showed such real and raw relationships of people with God. It’s one of those stories you can easily relate to because you’ve been through similar struggles. I love how the characters made such an effort to truly seek God and make Him an active part of their lives.
This book was breathtakingly beautiful ♥️ It gave off Tea With Elephants by Robin Jones Gunn vibes 🥹 I highlighted so many beautiful quotes in this book!
I received a complimentary arc of this book from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction. All opinions listed are purely my own.

Loved this book! I wasn’t sure I would enjoy the format of going back and forth between the main characters, but I did. The characters were engaging and the story caught my attention with its humor along with serious moments that were teaching us some things. I h@ve read some historicals by this author and enjoyed those as well. I am going to go and read some more. Though contemporary it bordered on historical also. Go read it and see what I mean! I was given this book for review and it turned out to be one I really enjoyed it.

I was delighted to receive an advance copy of this book by an author who I really enjoy. This was a fun book. Katie's misadventures were so funny. The Edwardian house party was an interesting storyline, though the stories of the locals were what really shined. The setting was beautifully described, and local culture and legends well incorporated. Both the main characters and the secondary characters were delightful. There was even a brief nod to this author's Skymar series, which was a nice touch. But at the same time, it had a deeper storyline. It deals with grief, family, acceptance, faith, and finding a home. The relationship between Katie and Graeme was delightful.
I received this book from NetGalley for free. All opinions are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.

This book was so delightful and hit all the Scottish cravings I’ve been needing. I love the grumpy Scot Graeme and his brogue. I fell in love with Katie and her penchant for needing to be rescued. This is a great book to Coorie up with and can’t recommend it enough.

Another 5+ star read from Pepper Basham!! The adventures - erm, rather, misadventures of Katie drew me in from the very start. Her hilarious mishaps kept me laughing, but her walk with the Lord and the issues she was sorting through with Him called to my heart in a personal way. The love, joy, peace, humour, growth, and changing of dreams that shapes this book makes it a modern day classic! And don't even get me started on Graeme!! A hot Scot who's broody, yet gentle, caring, and proudly loves his family and the Lord?! Swoon!! This lovely, faith-filled romcom full of both heart and humour is one you won't want to miss and will enjoy reading many times over!
I was blessed to received a complimentary copy of this book and be able to share my honest thoughts on it!

Some Like It Scot is a charming story by Pepper Basham. I picked up this book after having read one other book by Basham, because I remembered it being a cute story. I enjoyed the characters, both the main couple and many of the supporting characters. The setting was delightful as well. The characters Christian faith is talked about quite a bit throughout the story. I didn’t realize this would be the case, but it was nice to read a story where faith and the role it plays in all aspects of life is acknowledged. I love how the author deals with issues such as familial struggles/hurt with kindness, and without making everyone all have perfect relationships by the end of the story. I will definitely be recommending this to anyone who wants to read a sweet, fun, and charming romance! Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this sweet romance. The setting was wonderful and I loved all the characters. I will definitely read more from this author.

I have loved everything Pepper Basham has written, and I have no doubt I would love this ARC just as much!! I hate to quite a book with so much potential, but I am hoping I can snag an audiobook of this book (please?) because I can’t see the ARC well enough on my phone to read it. Such sadness!

This book was such a sweet escape!
Katie, a travel writer and podcaster known as “Miss Adventure,” is all about saying yes to life’s wild opportunities—even when they don’t go as planned. Her latest adventure lands her in Scotland for a three-week Edwardian experience.
Graeme MacKerrow is a brooding Scotsman who is fiercely loyal to his island home and family.
Scotland as a backdrop instantly had me hooked—it’s just the perfect setting for a romantic story.
Katie’s misadventures were funny and relatable, while Graeme’s grumpy, protective vibe made him such a lovable character.
I’m a sucker for a slow burn, and this one delivered in the best way. It was cozy, heartfelt, and gave me all the warm fuzzies. Definitely a feel-good read!
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this free ARC!

I really enjoyed reading this book ! It's my first book from author Pepper Basham and I definetly will read more.
The dynamic between Katie and Graeme was great and how they complemented each other.
It was a sweet story, cute and wholesome; the description of Scotland makes it seems as if you were actually there. Katie was a really relatable character, and I could identify with her in many levels. It is a slooooow burn, so take that in mind, it also has some christian themes in the book. I didn't mind it at all, but I can see how it could be a turn off to some people.
These is definetly a cute, fun and fast read that I would totally recommend.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

What a beautiful story! I not only fell in love with Graeme, but also with Scotland. The author depicts the landscapes so well that it felt like I was the one there, standing on the hillside on a foggy day in my wellies, feeling the wet spray on my face. I wish I could immediately teleport there! There were several funny moments in the book, but the serious conversations about love & family are what had me feeling the most emotional. I welled up so many times. I loved all of it. If you love romance and you love Scotland, this book is for you!

What a fun, enjoyable read with such a relatable FMC that instantly makes you feel like you found your long lost friend! Katie was such a character that made you feel normalized for your fears, struggles and passions that come with adulthood. And the hot scot?! The perfect, 6ft grumpy brooding man that has the banter, the perfect family the wraps you up in their joy immediately and protection immediately. This story had the banter, the swoon, the slow burn romance that sucks you in, while having you rooting for them the whole time.

Graeme & Katie
Edwardian Experience in Scotland… complete with a Hot Scot!? Sign Katie up! Ok, she didn’t realize there would be a Hot Scot included… but God knew she needed one. One that would give her that life line, that rope that she didn’t know she needed. One that would grow her faith, and at the same time heal some of the hurts tucked deep in her heart.
Katie and Graeme’s story is a witty, pun filled story. Katie is used to turning a phrase and using humor to hide her insecurities. A perfect time for God to step in and use those misadventures. I really loved the elements of faith and growth in this one.
This is a romantic story. And a comedy. But it’s so much more. The depth of the characters and the lessons they learned will cause the reader to reflect on their own life and faith. You don’t want to miss the chance to read this one!
This is a book that even Mr. Collins would read, particularly chapter 19, and its mention of fine closets.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the chance to read and review early. And thanks Pepper for the fantastic adventure!

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham was an enjoyable swoon-worthy read for those of us who like Scotsmen.
Katie Campbell is a popular travel writer who visits Scotland as part of a three-week Edwardian Immersion Tour. Katie is known as Miss Adventure. . .which is somewhat a play on words as she often gets herself into scrapes or "misadventures." Graeme MacKerrow is in the just the right place at the right time to be a part of Katie's first misadventure in Scotland. From that moment on, the relationship is off to a fun start.
I so enjoyed getting to know Graeme (Pronounced Gray-ham) and his family through the eyes of Katie. I could relate to how she was drawn to his warm and caring family. I also loved getting to know Katie. Both were fun characters. I enjoyed how they shared humor and how they got to know each other through the book. There were also some deliciously romantic moments that filled my starry-eyed heart.
As I read Some Like It Scot, my heart also went out to Katie as I got to know her struggles behind her smiles and humor and why she chose a life of travel. Katie's family faced a real challenge when her sister passed away. After that happened, the real dysfunction of her family came through in a way that left Katie's heart wounded and shut away. I could really relate to Katie as I come from a family with similar issues but for different reasons. I also have a Scottish grandfather that I was close to, like Katie, so I related there as well. There is plenty of tea drinking in the book and my Scottish grandfather also started me drinking tea when I was a little girl. I loved hearing Katie talk about her Scottish grandparents back home in North Carolina and how they helped her in her difficult times and showed her the love she didn't get in her family of origin. There was so much depth in that part of the story that I could relate to. Katie and Graeme also connected over loss as Graeme also had a sister pass away a few years ago in the story.
I enjoyed the cast of characters in Some Like it Scot, from the other writers in the Edwardian experience to Graeme's family and friends in Scotland and Katie's brothers back home in the States. All in all, this was an especially enjoyable read for me. I like how this author shows empathy for those who are hurting through her characters. I laughed and I teared up in this book.
I so appreciate receiving an early copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

Love, love, love this book. What a fun, delightful, moving story. I laughed. I cried. I cheered. I smiled. A book with all the feels, a truly exciting location, wonderfully written characters, and a unique plot. Will definitely be on my to be reread and re-enjoyed shelf. This book was provided by the publisher, author Pepper Basham, through NetGalley. The opinions are my own thoughts.

Katie Campbell has made a name for herself as “Miss Adventure.” She is a travel writer and podcaster who has traveled the world while entertaining her followers with her “misadventures.”
This delightful story takes Katie to Scotland to participate in a three-week “Edwardian Experience,” including period costumes and traditional food from that time. It also showcases the fine ancestral home known as Craighill, currently owned by Graeme MacKerrow. Graeme is a tall, handsome Scot who, since the death of his sister, has taken on the responsibility of raising his young nephew and rarely ventures far from home. Graeme’s priorities are his family and home.
Katie seems to be accident-prone wherever she is, which only endears her more to her loyal followers. Besides having striking red hair, she is also 6’1”, making her stand out. Much to Graeme’s dismay, he has taken notice of her.
This story has the most delightful characters. I particularly loved Graeme’s mother, who I often felt like sharing a cup of tea with. Katie is also drawn to Graeme’s family, as it is so unlike her own back in America. The story takes the reader on a wild ride as Katie encounters a number of misadventures, including landing on a ledge after accidentally falling over the edge of a cliff.
Pepper Basham is a gifted storyteller who weaves humor, seriousness, romance, and faith into one captivating, delightful story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.

Beautiful descriptions of the Scottish countryside, and written to where you could hear the Scottish accent come through is already off to a winning start. Great growth for both male and female leads and the fun misadventures that lead the way in the romcom. It had so many fun elements and pieces of the story it was fabulous the whole way through. Can't wait to read more from Basham!
Thank you NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Some like it Scot was my cozy read of the quarter. It's got everything I want in a clean and inspirational feel-good rom-com. Adorable characters, a swoony setting, and hilarious misadventures along the way. I loved that Miss Adventure is an accident-prone travel writer, and I totally wanted to go to Scotland for the Edwardian experience myself. Basham has done it again and delivered an unputdownable rom-com that leaves readers at once satisfied and longing for more. Some Like It Scot is a highlight read of the year!
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Being Scottish I do enjoy reading books that are set in Scotland.
This was an easy and fun read. The banter between the main characters was awesome and comical at times. Also a very cute romance.
The book also has travel, lore and as I said before, banter 😂
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the eARC

In Some Like It Scot, Katie Campbell loves a good adventure. As a popular travel writer and social media darling, she’s navigated countless escapades around the globe, earning her the playful nickname “Miss Adventure.” Her latest journey takes her to Scotland—the land of her ancestors—where she dives into an Edwardian experience, explores a charming Scottish village, befriends an impish little boy, and crosses paths with a grumpy Scotsman she can’t help but think of as the “Hot Scot.” What could possibly go wrong?
Graeme MacKerrow has reluctantly rented out his ancestral home to a wealthy family looking to recreate an Edwardian experience. He despises the attention of the press but needs the money to restore his family estate to its former glory. He finds it impossible to ignore Katie, especially after she literally falls on him—followed by every other mishap she brings into his life. There’s something undeniably captivating about her, even though her wanderlust heart clashes with his dreams of a rooted life. Will they find a way to bridge their differences and create something lasting together?
Pepper Basham, you’ve done it again! You made me laugh, swoon, and blink back tears. As a fellow tall lady, I fell in love with Katie and her deep longing for love and a place to call home. I felt like I was right there with her, exploring Scotland and experiencing every magical moment. This story was beautifully written, laugh-out-loud funny, and an absolute delight to read. I’m truly sad to say goodbye to Katie and Graeme—I could follow their adventures forever. What a fantastic book! Highly recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Fiction. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The ending was so good; I cried. Thoroughly entertaining and engaging story about a travel writer who is good at finding trouble and a woodworker/artist who keeps coming to her rescuing despite his reluctance to see himself as a hero. Loved the Scottish setting and wonderful MacKerrow family.

I utterly adored this read! Pepper Basham is one of my go-to authors when I need a laugh, and/or a book I know I'll enjoy--and this one is both.
I definitely want to go back to Scotland now, and visit Mull (and Iona)--I've never been to the islands, though I've been to the coast a fair bit, and Basham did a great job capturing life and livelihood across the northern pond.
The characters are hilarious and endearing (except for Mark, haha), and both MCs grow and change over the course of the read. Absolutely recommended!
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Who likes it Scot? This girl!
I’ve had an obsession with all things Scottish since long before Jaime Fraser came along. Maybe it’s because of the Scottish in the mix of my own bloodline or maybe because my husband was of mostly Scottish descent. (Who struck a strong resemblance to the character in this book whose name I still don’t know how to pronounce.)
But I digress. Let’s talk about the book.
It’s probably not a surprise that the hero of this book won me over- Graeme MacKerrow’s looks, his charm, the grumpiness, he wears a kilt (swoon), and the way he says lass made for one dream of a man. But I loved his heart most of all.
Then there’s the heroine, Katie Campbell. Her escapades were fun to read about even if she wasn’t someone I would have appreciated in real like. She had a thing for getting herself into a pinch. I can do enough of that all on my own. Good thing she has the Hot Scot to come to her rescue!
This book is sweet, funny, and heartfelt and it gives you a glimpse of the Scottish countryside to boot.
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher, but as always, my opinions are my own.

This book is just amazing! Pepper Basham has done it again and written a delightful rom com with likeable characters with "Some Like It Scot"! Travel writer Katie is accident prone and has made her livelihood on those accidents that seem to happen to her on every travel adventure. Her opposite is Graeme, a Scot who never travels far from his home village in Scotland. From the time these two tall individuals meet, sparks fly and one mishap after another leads to a wonderful story of self-discovery for both characters.
There are wonderful townsfolk, an adorable 8-year-old boy, a quirky woman who runs an Edwardian themed castle stay, a crazy highland cow, and descriptions of amazing scenery that make me want to buy a ticket and go straight to Scotland for a visit (if only it was summer and I had money and no responsibilities!).
I highlighted so many passages while reading this book. It is an incredibly well-written story with so many laugh out loud moments, parts that brought tears to my eyes, nuggets of wisdom, corny jokes and puns, pop culture references, the mention of another well-known Christian fiction author and so much more. I loved this book so much I can't wait to re-visit it again when the book releases and arrives in my mailbox. Thank you Pepper for writing another amazing book. This may be my favorite to date...which is saying a lot because I love her other books so much.
Thank you to Barbour Publishing for an opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Pepper Basham has done it again and given readers a beautiful story of self discovery and learning to deal with grief! This story has given me so much wanderlust that I might need to go book my trip to Scotland now!
I really enjoyed the grumpyxsunshine relationship between Katie and Graeme! I found all the misadventures that Katie finds herself in and Graeme needing to rescue her from hilarious! I also found how they bounded over their faith and the struggles of grief was so well written that I was crying right along with them.
I loved these two characters so much that I hope its not the last we see of them!

Katie my friends, is a hoot! She had me giggling and laughing every page. Pepper. Basham, Some Like It Scot, (hehe) took me on an adventure and journey throughout this read. This story had my heart melting. Lovely and funny. Recommended Read!
i received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Some Like it Scot is a fantastic book. I throughly enjoyed the plot, setting and the character dynamics. A story of two totally different personalities and their romance. I definitely recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

Excellent writing is once again here by Pepper Basham. I found myself on a rollercoaster of enjoyment in Scotland. From self discovery of the main characters to tear inducing laughter, this book is wonderful.
It was so fun to make new literary friends with Katie, Graeme, a few animals, and the rest of these Scots.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinion share is my own.

Some like it Scot
If you are looking for a laugh out loud story definitely read this book. From the very first scene this book is so enjoyable. Katie is in Scotland as a travel writer/blogger. Katie meets Graeme and his family. There is pretty scenery, adventures, romance, family, and rivalry. So many great scenes in the book. Some are funny and some are very touching.
I received an advanced copy of the book from NetGalley. This book review is my own opinion.

Y'all, I LOVED this book! From the storyline to Katie to being immersed into Scotland to Graeme. This is the second book I've read from this author and I will be reading more. The story was never slow and we get to see the characters develop overtime. I loved seeing Katie grow and all of her antics. It made me want to go explore Scotland and see the green and mountains she talks about. The romance is clean and there is a faith element to it. I highly recommend it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Pepper Basham for allowing me to read this book!

I absolutely loved this novel!⭐️
It gave me moments of pure serenity and joy, which is exactly what I needed. This book is perfect for anyone looking to escape for a while and clear their mind. I found myself laughing out loud because of the charming protagonists, and I really appreciated how the story unfolded. The setting was enchanting, and the atmosphere created in the book made me feel like I was right there, immersed in it all.
One small suggestion would be to add a bit more dialogue. It would have been nice to gain a deeper insight into the characters' personalities and backgrounds. But that’s just a minor detail in an otherwise wonderful story!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s in the mood for a heartwarming and delightful read.
P.S.: After finishing it, I couldn't help but dream of a trip to Scotland! :)
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”

I was privileged to receive an early copy of Some Like it Scot from the publisher through NetGalley, and was enthralled with the grumpy hero and accident-prone heroine. These two main characters, Graeme and Katie, were a perfect fit, and when you add in Graeme's lovable family, including a precocious young boy, you have a fabulous story full of wit and wonder. I'm really hoping Graeme's brothers are going to get stories of their own. Oh! The knitting circle at his mother's bookstore is fabulous, too. These characters jump off the page—they're so lifelike.
I'll be honest, I was initially a little put-off by the Edwardian era adventure Katie attends at Craighill House. With the book being set in my ancestral Scotland, I would've preferred something with a Scottish theme, but somehow Pepper Basham pulled it off. Hilarious comical moments abounded thanks to Katie's klutsy but lovable nature and a parrot named Merlin.
So far, I've read The Mistletoe Countess, The Cairo Curse, The Juliet Code in her Freddie and Grace Mysteries series. Authentically Izzy, Positively Penelope, and Loyally Luke in her Skymar series. I also read Just the Way You Are and Jane by the Book. As long as Pepper Basham keeps writing books, I'll keep reading them.

Katie & Graeme’s journey to happily ever wasn’t an easy one, but worth it. I loved their banter and chemistry.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Pepper Basham outdid her spectacular writing performance with this book, Some Like it Scot. This book was the perfect blend of Scottish nostalgic coziness mixed with a humorous, modern, love story. I greatly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves Scotland, romance, and humor. I give this book 5 stars for enjoyability. I received a complimentary review copy of this book.

It's a 5 🌟 read!
The inclusion of Scottish phrases delighted me and provided a glimpse into Scotland, which I always find enriching. Then add a handsome Scottish man, yes, please!
I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming and uplifting story. With just a few charming kisses, it delivered a sense of depth that truly resonated. The themes of navigating past loss while growing in faith and personal growth were beautifully portrayed. It emphasized the importance of opening oneself to love and discovering that not everyone will disappoint you; the right person will inevitably come along. I appreciated the representation of a loving family, which added so much to the narrative.
The witty and playful banter throughout kept me engaged, making it an outstanding read overall. Thank you @thomasnelson @netgalley for the eARC.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for a free digital copy of Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham.
MC, Katie Campbell, travels the world as a writer and podcaster. However, she's never really had a place to call home after the loss of her grandparents. Katie is a very relatable character. She's clumsy, awkward, silly, self-conscious, but kind. She travels to Scotland for work to experience an Edwardian reenactment experience. There she meets a grumpy Scot named Graeme. I truly enjoyed this clean, sweet and lovable romance. I likewise enjoyed the Scottish setting. It made me want to visit like Katie. This is a fun quick read, and I totally recommend it if you're looking for a book to make you smile. This was my first book by Pepper Basham. I loved it and can't wait to read more!

There were two major reasons why I wanted to read this book. The first being that it was written by Pepper Basham who is one of my go to authors, you know the who you want to read each and every book that they write. And the second reason being that in 1997 if I traveled to Scotland with 36 members of my family and I wanted to see if Ms. Basham mentions any of those places we visited while we were there. And she does mention a few of those places. But it also made me long to go back and go to some of the other things that she talks about. And I'm so thankful that I have a book that will take me there since I don't like to fly.
I found myself reading this book with my very poor Scottish brogue, but I just couldn't help myself. And I can't wait to listen to the audiobook once it is released, I just hope that they have a good reader, and someone's brogue is better than mine. I would love to see this book made into a series and maybe a meeting with the Edgewood's of the Skymore books.
Thanks to Net Galley, Thomas Nelson and Pepper Basham for allowing me to read an advance copy of this wonderful book.

Some like it Scot had me laughing out loud at travel writer , Katie’s mishaps . She really has a knack to get into crazy situations which makes her stories so real, honest and hilarious .
Katie goes to a Scottish house for an Edwardian three week experience . She dreads going as it’s really not her “cup of tea” . She continues to run into Graeme really everywhere she goes . Probably because his family own the home she is staying at .
Graeme is a large , gentle Scottish man with an awesome endearing family that draws Katie quickly in.
The story was fabulous keeping my attention and interest the entire time . Well done !
Thank you to Netgalley for a download in exchange for an unbiased review .

I received an ARC copy from the author and NetGalley. This was my first book from Pepper Basham, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I had a really fun time with this book! It had a lot of the elements and feelings of a rom com that I enjoy, but it also was more than that.
For the main characters, Katie and Grehem it was very real and uplifting to see the growth that they made throughout the story. I like how the author portrayed dealing with grief in healthy ways.
My favorite theme was the idea of home. I enjoyed seeing Katie's journey of discovering and identifying what and who a real, safe, peaceful home is for her. I personally resonated with this process. I think it is something that many others can also relate to.
I also have to say that I really loved all the side characters. I enjoyed reading about them as much as the main characters. They also demonstrated what good, healthy community is like.
And the overall atmosphere of the book was great. I really could picture the Scottish country side and really would love to see it in real life.
I am hoping this will be a series because I would love to be back in this world and back with all the characters. I'm also excited to check out other reads by Pepper.

Modern day vs Edwardian times set in none other than Inverness, Scotland. I love Outlander, so guessed at the get-go that I would love this book too. When the author referenced hearing Sassenach from Jamie Fraser, I laughed out loud while travelling on the public bus. I am from South Africa and appreciated the reference to Africa. This is a truly enjoyable, charming book. I found myself crying a few times, but it is equally as funny. So captivating and it had hooked from the very beginning. I loved it.

I love love love Pepper's books and this one might be my favorite yet! She has an amazing ability to write the quirkiest characters with crazy situations that are just so crazy you can actually see them happening. Not gonna lie it kinda made me want to do an immersive experience in some old castle like place. It legit sounds fun!

'Some Like it Scot' follows Miss Adventure, an endearingly hilarious travel writer, as she takes part in an immersive historical experience (think 'Austenland' meets 'Downton Abbey') but gets way more than she bargained for. I loved joining Katie and Graeme as they navigated the major crossroads in their lives, learning to live after loss, fearing to dream for the future, and secretly hoping for love along the way. Get ready to be immersed in this Scottish adventure!
If you enjoy reading clean contemporary romance novels, then I recommend this book to you! Pepper Basham’s writing style pulls me in like a light-hearted romcom and keeps me engaged with dynamic characters and a rich story.
Special thanks to the Publisher, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and Net Galley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Pepper Basham displays her mastery over rom-com in Some Like it Scot!! Katie is such a delightful character. I love her sense of humor, including the abundance of puns, her ability to laugh at herself and her misadventures that are guaranteed to generate some belly laughs. While she has some pain to work through in order to quit running, watching her run in the process was downright comical. Graeme is exactly what I would expect in a hero set in Scotland. Broody, talented, passionate, quick witted, and willing to go to any length to protect those he loves. I love his propensity for stories and his charming brogue (yes, you can hear it loud and clear in the writing). I adored the side characters, especially Lachlan, who will just grab your heart from the start. I fell in love with telling of the land and the legends that abound. There is depth in the midst of the humor and romance, and I absolutely adored this book.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

This book will instantly pull you in and make you feel right at home in the quaint Scottish village setting. It is full of AMAZING characters, breathtaking locations, local lore and legends, humor and puns, books, travel, laughter and tears, family, and so so so much more. The book has fun grumpy sunshine and endearing found family tropes.
I have never related to a character more in my life than I do with Katie. If you can have a kindred spirit in a book, then Katie would definitely be mine because I see so much of myself in her. Katie’s life is full of mishaps, family issues, fear of commitment, and longing for “home”. Not just any home though, but one where she is seen and loved for who she is and not who people want or think she should be. Then there is Graeme, the “Hot Scot”. He has an amazing family, who instantly welcomes Katie in, and she has no idea how to handle that. Graeme has been hurt in the past and has a major fear of commitment, but he can’t help falling for Katie and feeling a need to protect her...from herself if nothing else. This is a book you won’t want to put down and I highly recommend it.

My favorite thing about Pepper Basham's contemporary books is her voice. It is genuine, witty, and engaging. Her characters in Some Like It Scot drew me in from the first page. She was someone I wanted to be friends with and walk alongside her through the journey. It was extra awesome to be set in Scotland.

I read for the vibes. I don’t read nonfiction and all I ask of a book is that it occupies my mind and grabs my attention.
I saw the cover of this book on NetGalley and decided I could use a little mental vacation to Scotland with a hunky Highlander. I was expecting a marshmallow story. A tex mex meal, if you will. Mexican food, but not, if you know what I mean. I was pleasantly surprised that this author wrote with depth and did her research into the Scottish dialect and geography. I actually felt like I was getting a glimpse of the culture in Scotland. It felt authentic. But I’ve never been to Scotland so there’s that.
The FMC and MMC had chemistry and the absurdity of a lot of the “misadventures” kept me giggling. I thoroughly enjoyed this hallmark movie of a novel!

I loved Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham. It is a definite reread for me. Katie and Graeme are loveable characters that I enjoyed getting to meet, and Scotland is now a place I NEED to travel to.
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Katie is a recognized travel writer and uses her frequent clumsiness and accidents to her advantage, describing her mishaps humorously as MisAdventure. Underneath her moving attention away from herself, she is someone who is without a truly loving home. A "hot Scot" comes to her rescue several time during her latest assignment in Scotland, to her chagrin. The last part of the book is pure gold, with insights, faith, love and affirmation. You might discover your own pot of gold, with a little help from the fairies, in this book!
I received a complimentary issue of this book, and the thoughts expressed are my own.
I have never read a book by this author that I did not love!

5 Stars!!!
Another wonderful and clean romance from Pepper Basham! This story centers around travel journalist Katie Campbell, whose career success has been made largely due to her proclivity for MISadventure on her travels. She currently finds herself in Scotland, to spend 3 weeks living in an "Edwardian Experience" (literally, learning to live, dress, eat, dance etc like they did in Edwardian times). She quickly runs into the MMC - Graeme and their relationship gets off to a rocky start.
This is a sunshine/grumpy romance that will make you laugh. It will also pull on your heartstrings as both MCs are suffering through grief caused by deaths of siblings. This story is full of hope, witty banter, gorgeous descriptions of Scotland, swoony moments and of course love. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Katie is an American who does travel writing, a lifestyle she is used to as she moved a lot growing up. She receives an opportunity to advance her career by taking a job in Scotland, where she will spend three weeks in the Highlands at an estate that was designed to give visitors an Edwardian experience. It is at this house that she meets Graeme, a larger-than-life grump-like Scot who is working on refurbishing parts of the house. She ultimately gets a lesson in how a home can be defined.
I loved a lot about this book. The secondary characters were a wonderful addition. I really enjoyed that the author made an effort to make the characters real, with their own tragedies and personal issues, but then also took the opportunity for others to learn the person that was beneath the outward perception. It does take time to know a person and learn their background and respective responses to situations. I also felt like I was within this Scottish community, and it made me really want to go to this community!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cute, cozy and fun read!! But don't make the mistake of reading this in winters like me, it's a total spring read.

I was hooked from the beginning! While it is labeled as a Christian romance, I think anyone would enjoy it. I couldn’t wait to pick my book back up to return to the Scottish isle of Mull, its dialect, and. American tourist vibes. Katie Campbell, an adventurist blogger, visits Mull, Scotland to experience an Edwardian three week event in a castle. From her first night, accidents happen and she is one step away from disaster in all that she does. Thankfully, the Scots are there to save the day, especially one very good-looking one, Graeme. Its first-person narration that travels between Katie and Graeme, the imagery of Scotland, and the messages of what home really means, is just so well done. It’s a heart-warming read that makes you laugh, smile, tear up, and want to book a trip to Mull!

I adored Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham. It had everything I look for in a contemporary romance, plus more.
Katie is a travel writer with no strings drawing her back home. In fact, she prefers to leave before attachments are made. Unfortunately for her, she has three weeks in Scotland, which makes it hard not to form connections. I love Katie; she is stronger than she thinks. She is kind, funny, and longs for something she has never found. She is relatable, quirky, and, did I mention funny?
Graeme is the surly Scot Katie meets, and what a memorable meeting it is! They have an instant dislike, but it doesn't last long. Graeme is fixing the home that Katie and the others are staying in for their Edwardian experience.
This story pulled on my heartstrings. I loved the Scottish setting and dialect. The characters are a fascinating mix of quirky, loving, and annoying. I loved the Stitches Book Club and their quirky personalities. I could go on and on, but I highly recommend you experience this story for yourself.
Read for:
🐑 witty banter
🐑 hilarious moments
🐑 Graeme (his mother Mirren)
🐑Lachlan
🐑 near-death experiences
🐑misadventures
🐑Edwardian experience
🐑Stitches Book Club ladies
🐑the sweetest love story
I can't recommend this book enough. I need a physical copy for my keeper shelf!! Thank you to Net Galley and the author for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you're looking for a light hearted beach read, Some Like it Scot is definitely it! Pepper Basham keeps this book just the right side of spicey and romantic, making it a great book!

I adored this book. Loyally, Luke was a pleasant surprise in terms of Christian romance books, but this one was even better. I loved that it was rooted in real Scotland this time (and real references that Scotland-loving Americans would make), and the romance was definitely swoon-worthy, but not entirely because of its sweet hunk of a hero. The emotional depth that each of the characters had, their openness about it, the subtle support that their faith gives them, helped along by a very cute boy and dog...it was the perfectly comforting and hopeful read that a romance book should be.

I had such a fun time reading this! As someone who has always wanted to visit Scotland, anytime I see a book set in Scotland I feel the absolute need to read it. The chemistry between Katie and Graeme was phenomenal and made this such an enjoyable read to the point that I forgot about the world around me and just blew through the book. Can't wait to recommend this to all of my friends!

A new Pepper Basham book? Yes, please! In Some Like It Scot, there is the same blend of humor and heart that I have come to expect from Pepper, but her writing is as fresh and real as if it were her first novel. Katie comes across as the real girl that most of us are—her figure is not perfect, she’s a bit clumsy, and she feels as if she doesn’t fit in her place. And yet she fits so well in this story and with these people. She is a watergaw, a word she learns in Scotland for a broken, beautiful rainbow. And Graeme? Well, you need to meet him for yourself. Better get reading.

I LOVED this cover, the story, the characters--ALL of it!!! I liked that Katie was 6ft tall and trouble always seemed to find her. I enjoyed her authentic budding friendships with everyone she met and her sweet but fun personality. And who wouldn't fall for a gruff exterior Scotsman? I think all the parts of this story just worked together beautifully. The scenery and dialectal dialogue seamlessly dropped me right in the middle of Scotland. I have read this author multiple times before and will continue to do so!

You’re sure to enjoy this opposites attract story as writer/ social influencer Katie Campbell is on assignment in beautiful Scotland. Katie likes traveling around the world, but could her adventures be avoiding some painful things in her life? Graeme loves his homeland and is invested in restoring his family’s ancestral abode. Could he also be avoiding his past by holding onto things that are familiar?
I loved Graeme and his gruff exterior that protected his loving and sensitive heart. Katie was in need of rescuing several times and earned the name Miss Adventure quite easily. You are sure to laugh at the scrapes she finds herself in throughout the book. Graeme had a full time job just making sure she was safe!
Things to love:
meet cute
humor and puns
kilts
funny monikers
Graeme’s family
Book club grannies
Highland games
Favorite quotes:
“Love lingers long.”
“No matter where you run or how fast or far, you’ll never outrun your own heart.”
I highly recommend reading this book. I received a copy of the book from the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own with no obligation to write a positive review.

Travel Writer Katie Campbell is known for sharing her “Miss Adventures” with the world in written word. When her Miss Adventures send her on an Edwardian experience in Scotland, she jumps at the chance to explore her ancestral roots. While there, Katie lands a “hot Scot”, Graeme MacKerrow quite literally.
Kaitie’s been running from home from years while Graeme is settled in and put down roots in his small, quaint Scottish hometown. Their contrasts play very well with each other and when Katie has her "Miss Adventures", Graeme is there to be her knight in shining armor.
Loved the setting! Loved the characters! Just loved everything about it. Katie's "Miss Adventures" were so awkwardly adorable and Graeme's gruff knight in shining armor was swoonworthy. Katie so desperately needed to find her home to center her and I'm glad she found it in Graeme. I enjoyed getting to know the people in this little town in Scotland and fell in love with not only Graeme but his family too!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

I absolutely love the cover of Some Like It Scot—it’s so lovely and really captures the warm, fun, and romantic vibe of the story inside! This is the first book I’ve read by Pepper Basham, but it definitely won’t be my last! The gorgeous Scottish setting and the mix of romance, humor, and self-discovery totally hooked me from the start. The way Basham paints the beauty of Scotland made me feel like I was right there with Katie, exploring the misty hills and sipping tea in a cozy cottage.
Katie Campbell’s journey is both hilarious and heartfelt. As a travel writer with a knack for finding herself in misadventures, she’s not only searching for new stories but for a place to call home. Enter Graeme, the brooding, yet surprisingly sweet Scotsman who’s stuck between being the grumpy man of the house and the gentle caretaker of his family. Their chemistry? Great! Their banter? Even better. And the romance? Absolutely swoon-worthy. There were so many moments when I laughed, teared up, and couldn't put the book down. I loved how Katie and Graeme helped each other heal from their pasts, discovering that sometimes the best way to find home is by opening your heart to love and change.
This book is so much more than just a rom-com. It’s about finding yourself, healing from loss, and realizing that "home" is more than just a place—it’s the people you’re with. Whether you’re a fan of swoon-worthy moments or stories of personal growth, Some Like It Scot will absolutely leave you feeling all the feels. I can’t wait for more books from this quirky, heartwarming world!

absolutely adore Pepper Basham's books as they provide laughter, romance, and faith elements. I enjoyed how it took place in Scotland and how Katie and Graeme grew throughout this story. Katie, a traveling writer, finds more than just material for her next article when she heads to Scotland. This is a story of navigating loss and grief, of self discovery and belonging, and of taking a leap for the right person you love.

This was one of the (if not, the) most heartwarming and sweet romance books I've ever read.
Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In this book we follow Katie, also known as "Miss Adventure", who is a travel writer and Graeme, a stoic Scotsman, who will be referred to (by Katie on her blog) as "the hot Scot".
Katie is a clumsy, funny and witty person and has a hard time settling down, while Graeme is more serious and has no plan to leave his town. They met in the Craighill House, where is happening a three-week Edwardian experience, and soon they find out how different they are, but maybe they are not so different after all.
The romance was incredibly good, well-developed and heartwarming. It wasn't rushed nor too slow. It was perfectly paced and we fall in love with them while they fall in love with each other.
SPOILER
Katie's relationship with her mother was very hard to read because I related to a few things. However, the scene when Katie finally tell herself she's not responsible for her mother's behavior was refreshing to read, because it helped me see myself in that situation and stop blaming myself or trying to fix her behavior.
END OF THE SPOILER
Graeme's family dynamics were so fun to read, it made me want to have the same thing, (SPOILER) I totally understand why Katie ran away when she experienced that, because honestly, girl? same. I probably would have freaked out too. (END OF THE SPOILER)
English isn't my first language and reading Scottish words/slangs was a challenge for me but as I read, I got used to it and it wasn't a problem anymore.
Christian romance books were the best discovery ever, everything is so cozy and adorable. Also, Pepper Basham's writing is satisfactory, I couldn't stop reading it.
Highly recommend it.

Pepper is an absolute Queen when it comes to heart and humour! I laughed and cried over her newest instalment of delight!
With a subtle nod to Austenland in the way of an “Edwardian Experience,” travel writer Katie Campbell heads to Scotland for the misadventure of a lifetime. My favourite thing about Katie besides her wit, humour, kindness, etc. was her height. Tall girl representation is rare—especially for those of us in the 6’ and counting range. I could have cried with happiness as I felt Katie’s struggles with everything from dress length to shoe size. There may be benefits to height, but the downfalls abound, haha.
I utterly fell in love with Mull and its welcoming people. Mirren, Lachlan, and Graeme especially. I would absolutely love to live there. It doesn’t hurt that I’m a sucker for the accent, too. 😍 Also, that clever mention of Skymar, Pepper?! Icing on the cake!
In short, I was so moved—to laughter & tears. The humour was so on point with Katie’s misadventures, the romance between Graeme & Katie and the healing it brought was beautiful, and most of all, the tenderness at the heart of the story—finding home and belonging—hit me so deeply!
*Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

Delightful romance, with witty Banter, and an inspirational message. As the author says, Home can be a place, or a person, or both, definitely a relaxing, thoughtful read.

This book was my first encounter with author Pepper Basham, and I’m glad I found her! What an entertaining and fun reading experience! I loved the storyline and all the beautiful descriptions of the Scottish countryside, but I really had fun getting to know “Miss Adventure” as she came to discover what she was really looking for in life. I will be reading more of Pepper Basham’s books in the future and I thank NetGalley for allowing me to discover and read an advance copy of the author’s newest book in exchange for an honest review.

This was so sweet! I loved all the characters, and enjoyed all the relationships, not just the romantic one! Lots of sweet moments and lots of hilarious moments. Was a quick read in a good way! Loved it!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Some like it Scot by Pepper Basham. Publishing date April 8th.
The cover drew me in to start with but then found it was a rom-com based in Scotland I was sold. This love story did not disappoint! Katie was a traveling writer who had been running away from her family issues for years and didn’t know the meaning and love from home and family. She is well know for her misadventures on her travels and telling peoples stories from around the world the world. She literally falls on a Scottish hunk Graeme on her latest adventure and everytime she sees him he has to save her from some disaster. Figuring out that she actually needs saving she falls for the hot scot, his family and his home!
Beautifully written … the way the author describes the Scottish scenery makes you think you are there!! Was cheering Katie all the way through and was so happy she got her happy ending!

This book was just pure delight! I absolutely adored it. The setting, the humor (I kept picturing Mrs. Lennox as Lady Button from the UK version of Ghosts and it made everything ten times funnier), the romance, the accents.. it was just all so good. Somebody book me a trip to Scotland stat!

Pepper Basham has outdone herself with her upcoming release of Some Like It Scot! This book had ALL the things and made me fell ALL the feels. I laughed and cried - sometimes at the same time. This book follows Katie, a travel writer whose misadventures have become her brand. With her easy-going nature and humor, she has learned to roll with it, endearing herself to her readers and social media followers. The story begins with her arrival in Scotland to attend a premier of an Edwardian experience at an old manor house. With her penchant for trouble, a grumpy Scotsman, a rival at the same Edwardian experience and a mischievous little boy and his dog, this story took off in a super fun way and was thoroughly enjoyable throughout.
Though this book had a lighthearted feel, it did not shy away from heavier topics. There was family drama, grief, and low self-esteem among other heavy-hitting topics, but Basham weaves the heaviness with the lightness in a beautiful manner that points us to the Light Himself. Though the faith thread was a bit lighter in this book (not so many direct mentions of God), He is definitely in the underlying story and the tale and characters point to Him throughout. The romance in this one was a lot of fun, and the character growth and development was absolutely stellar, though the characters were fabulous to begin with. I loved the Scottish dialect and the picture the author painted of the Scottish countryside, making the setting a huge part of the story. I also enjoyed the nod to the author's most recent series in Skymar as well. All in all, this was a fabulous read and one I can easily recommend to fans of contemporary rom-coms especially, but to anyone who enjoys a good story with great character development. Special thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Maybe it's a recent visit to Scotland, maybe it's an addiction to Pepper Basham's heartfelt characters- but whatever it is, I loved this gentle book and didn't want it to end! She skillfully wove two broken, grieving lives together for a (predictably) happy ending. And the supporting characters Mirren and Lachlan and Brett were so sincere and sweet- they really added to the depth of this story. I think l'd truly enjoy a friend like the gifted but fragile Katie (and I KNOW l'd like an honest conversation with her parents!). Like me, she chronically lacks confidence in her own value, even though she knows her work is good. Also like me, a loving friend-turned-suitor turns her doubts upside down! I received a complimentary copy of this book via Net Galley and was not required to post a review.

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. The dual point of view between Katie and Graeme made these characters feel real to me and gave me a deeper insight into each character's way of thinking, how they were feeling, and what scars they were dealing with or even trying to ignore. I loved Katie's big heart and her outlook on life, especially how she could laugh at herself and love others so wholly. Graeme's emotional depth and layers had me swooning often--he also has such a big heart and a capacity to love and protect fiercely.
I enjoyed the setting immensely and seeing Scotland from Katie's point of view because this was her first visit and she felt more and more at home there. This theme of discovering the true meaning of home was expertly woven throughout the pages--both Katie and Graeme (despite Graeme thinking home was just a place) had to figure out what home really was for themselves and it felt so natural watching each character's growth arc.

This Christian romance was so sweet. Every page filled with healing, misadventures, puns and learning what love and home are. I had an amazing time reading this and it's definitely going in one of my top books of the year! I loved reading about Scotland (my family's ancestral home) the imagery made it feel like I was really there.
I find a deep kinship with Katie. Even though I am not as tall as her I am a clutz. I have a complicated relationship with my mother and a grandfather who was my closest friends. I found myself crying and laughing with her. The depictions of grief, parental issues and finding where you belong were very well written this book.
This is a Christian book and even though God isn't the biggest part of this story faith is brought up many times throughout this story.

I so enjoyed this read! It is a wonderful clean romcom that has many hilarious moments in it and adventures.
The characters are lovely ,well most of them and felt very authentic. People I would enjoy meeting and hanging out with in most cases. Of course there have to be a few questionable folks to make it interesting.
The setting is so well described and makes me want to visit Scotland. It's is a character of it's own.
The main characters each of some family things going on that played deeply into the story. I don't want to say more as I would not to spoil it.
I encourage people to read read and enjoy this one for all it is worth!

I enjoyed this book so much and really enjoyed the fact that it wasn't your typical Petite lady but a 6 foot FMC. Love the main characters and the story, hallmark-esque perfection. Thank you for this arc.

Some Like It Scot was another delightful book by Pepper Basham. As I began reading, I smiled to myself, thinking that she has her own signature way of telling a story and it immediately shines through as her own -- lots of true-to-life characters, deep emotions, and fun meet cutes.
Katie is a woman with an intriguing lifestyle but rather sad background. On a business trip to Scotland she meets a rather grumpy Graeme (in a rather comical way) and his first impression of her is not great either.
Ultimately Graeme winds up rescuing the rather accident prone Katie numerous times --- and she grows to see the true warmhearted man underneath --- and his delightful family. (Lachlan especially stone my heart.)
This was a great read and I highly recommend it -- especially to any Pepper Basham fans! You will love it!
I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Don't bash me (yes, pun intended) for posting my review so soon before the publication date. I have had Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham in my TBR queue for the past couple of months and could not wait any longer.
Caught by the witty dialogue and puns from the prologue, I kept turning page after page, wanting to read it all, yet wanting to never finish. Characters so delightful that I would love to have them for friends every day. Set in breathtaking Scotland, Basham masterfully wove local lore and dialect into the plot. Can Katie (FMC) find 'home' in Scotland and with Graeme?
Releases Apr. 8th. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A charming read. I loved this story and the only complaint I have was at the words THE END. I was sad when it ended and am really hoping for the brothers to get their story. I did love the nod to Skymar and that other series. The writing was such to evoke emotion for the characters, their hurdles, and love of the land. Definitely so many sweet & enduring moments and so many scenes to love. The story ended just perfectly. This really helped me getting out of my reading slump.
Some of my favorite parts of the story:
*Humorous, and whimsical
*Fantastic world building and paints a wonderful picture of the land and village.
*the characters: I love the mom. She was the pefect amount of charm and cozy.
*Mr. Lennox
*the crazy girl on the bike with no breaks
*the nephew
*the knitting crew

some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham was a very splendid surprise! What a fun romance with a fantastic cast of characters.
I'd like to thank Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this book!

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a fun and adorable romp in Scotland that no one should miss. Katie, who is know professionally as "MIss Adventure" for her perilous travels is invited to a 3 week stay at a castle in Scotland. In true form, she manages to get tangled up, literally, with the owner of the castle, Graeme and in finding each other learn lessons about what it means to search for what is truly important in life and what a home can look like. I adored this novel and although it's listed as a Christian novel it wasn't too preachy as many can be.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it absolutely will not be the last. Characters are well developed, the plot is intriguing throughout, there is so much humor, and in general it is just a well put together story. I laughed along with Katie on her Miss Adventures, I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet honesty of Lachlan (Graeme's nephew), and loved the "Hot Scot" Graeme and how he consistently cared for Katie. The moments where they rescue each other physically, emotionally or socially are all well crafted throughout. I will definitely be back for more, and am likely to add this to to reread pile for another day. Do yourself the favor and get this one asap!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is the first book I have read by Pepper Basham and now I cannot wait to read more by her. Characters are fun, the story line kept me intrigued, and laughing out loud. I thoroughly enjoyed Katie on her Miss Adventures, I really enjoyed the cute honesty of Lachlan, and loved the "Hot Scot" Graeme and how he treated Katie. The times when they rescue each other is sweet & fun. This is the perfect beach read! Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

There are a variety of reasons why I decide to try a book. Sometimes it's the blurb. Other times it's the author. In Some Like It Scot's case, it was because I saw the main female character is tall.
Humor abounds in this book, primarily because Katie is a world class champion at attracting catastrophe. I related so much to her: her height (although I'm five inches shorter than her 6'1"), her clumsiness, and the immense awkwardness that comes from growing up towering over almost everyone. There's more to Katie than her catastrophicness, though. She's a kind and caring soul doing everything she can to protect her wounded and battered heart.
Enter Graeme. I am so, so, so happy this is not a "short girl ends up with the tall guy" situation (because, frankly, I'm beyond sick of reading about it). It was so gratifying to watch the adorable romance bloom between the two.
Most of the secondary characters are great, too, excluding Mark the Menace. He's not great. He's on the Seamus the Highland Cow level of nasty (if you know, you know).
The plot is fun, touching, and well-paced. There is a light sprinkling of faith and I really enjoyed the church scene.
There are few content warnings: emotional manipulation by a secondary character and some sabotage by another. There is a possible instance of the Lord's name taken in vain.
In conclusion, with a hearty dose of humor, a nice dose of slow-burn romance, and a gentle sprinkle of faith, Some Like It Scot is a fun, heartwarming story that will both make you laugh and encourage you to remember God's purposeful design for making everyone unique.

A 5* Rom-Com With All the Things!
A bookshop, a granny book club, a Scottish manor house, a weasel (both animal and human), a dancing butler, a hairy coo (read the book to find out what this is) and (yes!) a Pepper Basham closet kissing scene…to name a few things I love about this book! This fun romp also has endearing characters and a sense of family I’d want to come home to.
Other things I love about this book? The heroine, a ginger-headed travel writer, Katie Campbell, is larger than life (no pun intended) who can’t live up to her mom’s expectations, is beyond accident prone and in need of a hero to save her in more ways than one.
Enter Graeme MacKerrow, a “handsome but grumpy, barrel-chested, blue-eyed Scot” who is closed off, owing to grief and hurt, when Katie “falls” into his life.
This fun story shifts between the two MC’s (first person) POVs, which in my book (ha! pun intended) adds to the fun, thanks to knowing what’s going on in both of their heads! I chuckled a lot and might have even cried at the end (it was stellar!).
This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

I absolutey adored this book. Everything about it just worked completely for me. I loved Katie--her personality and her fears and her quirks just made her such a fun and relatable character, and her backstory made her believable and endearing. Graeme also stole my heart--his worries and his reactions were also believable. I appreciated how both characters were willing to do some self-examination and try to grow and not just hide away. Despite being a homebody at heart, all of the descriptions of Scotland (and the Scottish words thrown in!) made me want to book a trip to see the beauty of the country for myself. I also adored the supporting characters (at least, the Scottish ones. Some of the other participants in the Edwardian Experience had me shaking my fist at them!) All in all, this book was just delightful! I loved it. I'm definitely going to have to snag the audio version as well because I'm sure it will be even more fun to listen to!
I read a DRC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I love this book so much!! The way these two main characters and this relationship developed was amazing. This relationship can technically be considered a whirlwind romance because of how quickly it came together. However, it did not feel rushed or unrealistic. The pacing of the story was so well done. I appreciate how she truly got them to work through their personal hesitations and fears…and even renewing their faith as well. There was lots of fun and misadventures throughout the story. I even started to understand the Scottish dialect by reading through this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This has been one of my favorites I’ve read this year! I love the wholesomeness of this story. I loved both of these characters so much, and Pepper did such a beautiful job just building these characters. We regularly go to Scotland too, and it made me love it even more. I just loved how loveable Katie was especially, her humility and easy-going way of living. She really shows how to not take life too seriously, and make lemonade out of lemons. Graeme was also a loveable character, and the descriptions of him definitely makes a girl swoon!
Overall, I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend.
(Posting on Instagram soon too so will be tagged in that)

Thank you so much to Thomas Nelson for an early copy of Some Like it Scot! 💖
Some Like it Scot is an unbelievably adorable rom-com that has a beautiful balance of absolutely goofy moments but also serious topics/themes and I think it's so amazing! This book has Katie, an almost travel writer, American, Bridget Jones type character who brings so much comedic relief! When she goes to Scotland, she meets Graeme, a hot, handy, Scotsman who is the grumpy to Katie's sunshine! There's a bit of an element of enemies to lovers, opposites attract, slow burn, and more!
I really enjoyed this book and it brought exactly what I wanted to the table! I've read a couple Scottish romances lately that kind of fell flat because there was just too much depth and kind of personal growth elements that can drag a rom-com into women's fiction territory and for some reason, this book had the perfect balance and while it deals with elements of grief for both of the main characters, it still feels like a bright, lighthearted, rom-com! I really loved this book and hope I can find some more like it!💞

Pepper Basham is the queen of feel good rom-coms. I always know I'm going to come away from her books smiling. Some Like it Scot has it all, a fun Scottish setting, a satisfying grumpy/sunshine trope, and the laugh-out-loud moments that leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
The main character, Katie Campbell, is such a fun character who is both funny and always falling into mishaps. Graeme is stoic and more reserved, but with intriguing layers to him. A lot of times rom-coms can be light and fluffy but lacking depth to them. I really enjoyed the depth of this novel, Pepper Basham struck just the right balance between fun and engaging, while also leaving you something deeper to ponder.
Highly recommend, one that I will be buying a paperback copy of for my keeper shelf!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a quick read and a good clean Christian romance. Katie Campbell is a popular travel writer, and her social media fans follow her on her misadventures as she travels around the world. She winds up in Scotland for an extended stay at a manor house for an Edwardian Experience. Trouble seems to follow Katie around, but Graeme Mackerrow seems to be at the right places at the right times to help save her. The book has loveable characters such as Mirren, Lachlan, and the book club/stitching ladies. After years of traveling and not feeling like she has much of a home anywhere, Katie starts to ponder if Mull is the place she feels most at home.
I love the sunshine/grumpy clean romance and the nods to the Outlander series as well as Hallmark movies. I think this book would make for a great Hallmark movie! I loved the vivid description of Scotland and the use of Scottish words too. This book was a good mixture of humor, introspection, and how people cope with family deaths and other dynamics.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

3 reasons I enjoy Pepper Basham’s contemporary romances:
1. They’re funny without being silly
2. The characters are interesting and unique
3. Faith plays an intrinsic role
I could think of more, but that’s a good start, and they represent why I asked for an ARC of Some Like It Scot.
Let’s start with: I loved this story. The heroine, Katie Campbell, is a 6’1″ American travel writer who’s continually bumbling into scrapes. This allows the rom com part of the story a natural flow. She’s made an entire brand around being Miss Adventure, and three weeks in Scotland ensconced in an ancestral manor house for an “Edwardian Experience” provides plenty of scope for adventure (of the mis kind and other). Start with her not fitting the period gowns provided for her due to her height and curves, and following on with a near drowning (the not-so-funny part), facing her greatest fear (sheep — or is it highland cows?) and Katie is bumbling from one escapade to the next.
Graeme MacKerrow, the hero of the story, is focused on tradition and family. His twin sister has passed on, and Graeme has custody of his precocious young nephew, Lachlan, who worms his way into Katie’s heart nearly immediately. Graeme’s parents and brothers are also very involved in each other’s lives, and his mom takes Katie under her wing when Katie stumbles into her bookshop during a knitting and book club meeting.
Katie’s never felt at home anywhere since her grandparents’ deaths years ago, despite having inherited their North Carolina home. But with all her traveling, is she actually running FROM something or TO something? She would have said “neither,” but it becomes apparent that is not quite so. The “Edwardian Experience” is a three-week stint, and then Katie will be moving on. But for the first time in her life, she wonders if home is perhaps not a place, but a person, and if her person just might be Graeme.
I haven’t mentioned all the times Graeme saves her from one calamity after the other, each humorous and charming, but also forging a relationship with every misadventure. I truly gave a sigh as I turned the last page, and I sincerely hope Graeme’s two brothers get their own stories down the road. I could do with another armchair visit to Scotland with Pepper Basham!
If you enjoy the kinds of stories I do, sweet and funny yet deep, I recommend you pick up a copy of Some Like It Scot. It releases April 8, 2025.
I requested an ARC (advanced reader copy) from Netgalley.

I loved this book and this romance! I love when characters have depth to them and these two definitely did. Such a great read!

What do an accident prone, globe trotting travel writer and a penniless, Scottish Laird who is bound to his fens, have in common? Nothing much you'd think.
But in Pepper Basham's rollicking novel, Some Like It Scot, these two meet head on, resulting in much fun, laughter and a light hearted novel that still hits you with kernels of deep truth.
I enjoyed it so much, I didn't even notice it was written in the first person (dislike that, unless it's superbly done, and it so rarely is). Yet, Basham has pulled it off in this light hearted, funny novel.
I could wish she'd cut down on some of her descriptions of lovers enjoying a cuddle; as Ms. Alcott once said, real love scenes are often indescribable. I also feel the book is overdone a tad by making almost every scene with her accident-prone heroine rather, well, accident prone.
She does drive home some home truths on our eternal love, security, acceptance by God. On the whole, I quite enjoyed this novel which is more than I could say about the first one of hers I read. I'm glad I took the risk. I don't think she will become a go-to or favourite author for me, or will she grow on me? Who knows!!
I was given a complimentary copy by the publisher, @Thomas Nelson Fiction and @Add the. All opinions are my own.

I received a copy of this novel from NetGalkey and exchange for an honest review. I love any and all novel set in Scotland, it is such a romantic place in the setting alone is enough to make me pick up the novel great chemistry between the main characters highly recommend..

Oh, My Goodness!! If I’ve ever wanted to go to Scotland, now I want to go MORE!
This was such a fun book to read, and yet it was also a very touching, tender story. Katie and Graeme were dealing with similar deep pain from their pasts, and the crazy adventures that seemed to follow Katie helped them in many ways.
From the very first chapter to the very end of the book, there were so many “misadventures” that happened to Katie. Many of them I laughed out loud while reading, and many I couldn’t believe would ever happen.
However, what better thing to happen was a swoon-worthy hunk came to rescue her. Of course, at first, he was more of a grump, but then Katie and all her craziness brought out his softer side.
Pepper Basham has become an author I will always seek out! Her writing style is smooth, and her storytelling is full of imagination and charm. I was blown away by some of her descriptions and how she painted everything so beautifully with her word choices.
I look forward to picking up more of her books and digging into them.
If you love crazy, fun adventures, wild nature, beautiful scenery, delightful dialogue, and swoon-worthy romantic moments, this book is definitely for you to read. You might find yourself dreaming of taking a trip across the ocean.
The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I completely fell in love with the characters! They are so relatable and the banter between FMC and MMC is exquisite. The way they acted towards one another is so cute. The plot is super interesting and sweet.
And I absolutely loved how the author described Scotland - it was so cozy and picturesque.
I laughed, I cried, but most of all - I had so much fun. This book definitely made me forged all my problems and transported me to a beautiful place.

Basham is one author I will always grab as soon as humanly possible for a new publication. With that in mind, I *suppose* there is the risk that one day one of her books will disappoint. Today is not that day! In classic Basham style, she takes us on another Scottish love story kept me chuckling, shaking my head and relating a tad too much to sweet, bumbling Katie. The story lays out some hard realities like imperfect and messy family dynamics, doubts about who we truly are, where we belong and what :home" even means, A reflective and relatable rollercoaster that is, of course, wrapped up in swoonworthy adventures and humor, Basham's latest book is a heart "Aye, lass!" from me!

Drawn in by the synopsis and cover design, I secured an advance review copy through NetGalley.
This being my first experience with this author’s writing, I found the storyline surprisingly engaging. Katie is a lovable and sweet woman, although she is accident prone. The probability of her falling, spilling, tripping or the like is higher than anyone else, as calamities seem to find her. That she’s a widely traveling vlogger/writer with this issue is quite entertaining. There’s always a reason behind keeping a hectic schedule, and Katie’s was emotional. Ironically, that was precisely why she was so perfect for Graeme.
Graeme, a grumpy Scot, has ample justification for his mood. His behavior was completely understandable, and I loved seeing him be Katie’s hero, even if he seemed put out about it. (He wasn’t… not really!) This book resonated with me deeply because of the relatable characters and their search for belonging. The author’s painting of the Highlands’ landscape and the spiritual connections woven into its depiction moved me. The romantic connection between the two is strong and unmistakable, even without many steamy scenes. I loved the grand gesture and HEA, and finished the book feeling content.
I enjoyed this book, but I’m left wanting more of this author’s writing and am excited to read her other books. I really liked this book and author, and am happy to give it an honest review.

Loved it! Pepper Basham creates delightfully charming characters in this sweet, clean rom-com that takes place in Scotland.
I fell in love with Mull, the island where Katie Campbell finds herself on an assignment as a travel writer. She is a tall, red-headed, and a little clumsy and finds herself in all kinds of mis-adventures (which is also the names of her travel writing persona). Similar to another beloved book “Austenland”, Katie and a handful of other guests are staying for the full Edwardian experience, complete with outfits and time period activities and even food!
We also meet Graeme, a Mull native who is quite a bit of a grump. Of course, we find that he is a lovable grump and finds himself, whether he wants to or not, bumping into Katie and her clumsy misadventures!
I loved the banter and the sweet storylines of both characters. They had depth and left you rooting them on. The side characters were just as fun, from those on the Edwardian experience to Graeme’s family members and the locals (especially the grannies at the bookshop!)!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC ebook to review. All thoughts are my own.

Oh my word, Pepper Basham has such a gift for storytelling. In her newest book, Some Like It Scot, I was so charmed, heartstrings thoroughly pulled with emotion and love and glorious descriptions of the Scottish countryside. And with Pepper’s books there is always laughter ;)
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Scotland is my soul's home so any book that represents it well, is beautiful to me. I fell in love with Mull (I even researched how much it would cost to go there!) The characters in this book were wonderful; fully fleshed out, rich, and flawed. The story was both humourous and deep, with plenty of puns and struggles. This is definitely one of my favorite Pepper Basham books. An absolute delight!

'Some Like It Scot' is nearly perfect. I couldn't put it down, and I didn't want it to end. It is full of fun and seriousness, but with an overarching tone of absolute kindness. The story line is current with a travel podcaster who has a penchant for accidents in an immersive experience on a Scottish island. Her interactions with those at the 'Edwardian' retreat. are humorous, surprising and heartwarming. I literally didn't want this story to end and hope the author could revisit all the delightful characters and locale more in the future. I highly, highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I loved this novel. It was so much fun to read and the characters were so likable! I laughed out loud and kicked my feet the entire time I was reading this novel.

Pepper Basham has done it again! With characters you can’t help but root for, beautiful faith elements, sizzling romance, and lots of humor, this book checks all the boxes. And the Scotland setting and accents! It was all captured so genuinely that I felt like I was there.

Pepper Basham has done it again. She has written another delightful tale that will make you laugh and make you think and might make you cry…or even cry and laugh at the same time! The characters in this book are so rich and real-to-life that one might just wish you could be friends with them. I want to stroll through the countryside in Scotland and come upon Mirren’s shop so I can step inside and have a cuppa and a good chat with Mirren, and maybe meet the knitting ladies. I want to see this glorious estate house that belongs to the MacKerrow family. I want to go fishing or exploring with Lachlan and Wedge. It is simply a delightful tale. Frankly, if I could find a writer who wrote about people and peppered her writing with her own misadventures, I think it would be amazing and I might switch to reading travel writing instead of fiction. Seriously, I did enjoy this book so very much for the lightness and fun it brought. However, I also enjoyed the personal growth and learning that Graeme and Katie both experienced throughout the story. It brings to light a struggle many people have in life, which is listening to the inner monologue of self doubt or what others have projected and said about them, rather than focusing on the person God says they are and who He made them to be. I highly recommend this book. It is a delightful and thought-provoking read with all the usual fun, flair, and swoony moments that Pepper Basham brings to a tale.

Oh my heart…this book is endearing and lovely. It is also very funny; at the same time it is incredibly poignant. Katie has been wandering her whole life, looking for the place where she belongs; Graeme is a man who doesn’t leave his home; they are both a bit broken Can it be that when she meets him in the Highlands at his ancestral home, that she will finally find a home of her own? Can they patch the brokenness of each other? Those were the parts of this book that melted my heart, their emotions warring with old scars, at the same time healing those wounds. All the times Graeme proved that he was there for Katie, every time Katie made him smile and laugh at all her misadventures! There are also scenes that made me laugh out loud, as Katie lives up to her reputation of getting caught in awkward situations! I loved the other characters in the book as well, as they each showed Katie what it means to be part of a family and community—as they shared with her a place that she belonged. Katie and Graeme are more than characters in a book. To me, they represented all the ways you can love and be loved, all the ways you can fit in even when you stand out! I think they might even have filled some holes in my own heart. Thank you to the publisher for proving me an advance reader copy of this heartfelt novel.

An American travel writer, forever searching for a place to call home, and a reclusive Scotsman harboring a surprising secret, discover an unexpected bond when she steps into a Highlands manor house transformed into an Edwardian experience for three weeks.
Katie Campbell has spent her entire life on the move. As the daughter of an army chaplain, relocating—from different homes to entirely new countries—was the norm. Her wild childhood tales evolved into a successful career as a travel writer, seemingly the perfect fit for her wanderlust.
If you adore witty banter, swoon-worthy kisses, slow-burn romances, and grand adventures, you'll love "Some Like It Scot." This story is particularly remarkable, evoking laughter, tears, and every emotion in between. The characters are exceptional—Katie is hilarious and incredibly relatable, her struggles resonate deeply, while Graeme's many layers are a delight to uncover throughout the book.
When life repeatedly lets you down, you may start doubting everything, including God's plan and goodness, building walls around your heart and forging your own path. However, shying away from love, settling down, and taking that leap was never part of God's plan.
"Some Like It Scot" is more than just a romance. It promises both a physical and emotional journey as Katie navigates themes of belonging, grief, and love.

This book made me so happy!🥰 I LOVED Katie and Graeme! I loved the banter, the humor, the romance, the setting, and the faith.
I loved Katie’s character right from the start! We would most definitely be friends! I love that she’s described as taller than your average female, “sturdy” and “well-built”. As a taller female, I could totally relate. I loved her humor and kind heart.
I loved Graeme too of course! He was the perfect grump to Katie’s sunshine. They were perfect for each other and I could feel the chemistry on every page! From the meet cute to the rescues from misadventures, their story was such a sweet one! They had me snickering then swooning. It was a fun ride.😌
I loved the family dynamics in this story too. I loved Graeme’s family, especially his mother and nephew.
There was plenty of lighthearted moments but plenty of depth to the story as well which I absolutely loved.❤️ The faith content was wonderful!
In conclusion, I loved this book so much! I can always count on a Pepper Basham book to make me smile (and swoon!)

I absolutely loved this story from Pepper. I've become a big fan of her books in the last year and this is such a beautiful addition to her collection. I loved the Scottish setting and the clever story filled with endearing and imperfect characters. Set in a clever "Edwardian Experience" (think living inside the world of Downton Abbey for 3 weeks), this story of an American travel writer who meets a grumpy Scot is full of beautiful scenery, clever (mis)adventures, and a collection of witty puns.
One of my favorite parts of this and all Pepper novels is the beautiful, clever writing and storytelling. I always feel transported into her stories through her words. The Scottish setting in this novel is breathtaking and full of history and legend. I find myself longing to experience it for myself now! Her imagery is exquisite and her descriptions of the people are witty and profound. There is just something about the way she builds her story and describes these places and people. Reading this book was such a cozy experience. I love the way she writes. I laugh, I smile, and I may have shed a few tears in this story. The beautiful themes of family, grief, finding joy, finding God, and love were simply captivating.
Katie is such a delightful protagonist. I loved getting to know the different layers that make up the person she is -- social media superstar, loyal sister and friend, true connoisseur of stories, and a beautiful woman inside and out. She is someone you can't help but love and want to be friends with. I enjoyed reading about her (mis)adventures from her run in with the highland cow to learning to dance and cozy moments in Graeme's world. She makes life an adventure. I also enjoyed the complexities of her character. She holds deep grief alongside easy friendship for all sorts of people. She treats others with kindness first and is fiercely loyal to those she loves. I loved seeing that loyalty extend to Graeme and his family. Seeing her find home with him was so beautiful.
Graeme is everything you want to see in an ideal Scottish hero. He is certainly attractive. But he is also talented, hard working, and so very kind. I loved seeing his relationship with his nephew, Lachlan and with his mother (who are both fantastic characters as well). He has also known deep grief in his life. And seeing how that has affected him is both tragic and hopeful. Graeme comes to understand his past and his potential so much more clearly in this story. I loved seeing him open up to Katie and allowing her into his home and heart. The ways he protects her and is drawn to her and saves her are simply beautiful.
Pepper does it again! I loved this beautiful story for so many reasons. A beautiful Scottish setting. Fantastic characters that find a place in your heart. A lovely, slow burn romance that showcases enemies to lovers and grumpy sunshine vibes with truly swoony kisses. And beautiful writing that shows how love, grief, loyalty, friendship, adventure, and joy can all create life and relationships. A truly fantastic novel!

Pepper Basham does it again.
This heartfelt story was full of laughs and tears. The author touches on some heavy topics but they are done with funny puns.
We follow Katie a travel writer who doesn’t long to settle down due to not feeling loved by people in her life and dealing with some buried grief. Until she goes on this whimsical assignment and finds a Scot and his family who welcome her with an overwhelming love.
There are a few triggers but they are done with respect and grace:
Grief
Sibling lost
Child lost
Tropes:
Grumpy/Sunshine
He falls first
Damsel in Distress
Tall FMC
Single Parent
I would recommend this to the person looking for a light hearted rom-com full of tough topics and belly laughs.

With the perfect blend of laugh out loud humor and swoon worthy romance--- this was just the escape to Scotland that I didn't know I needed! Graeme and Katie won me over very quickly in this beautiful romcom. Katie truly is the perfect romcom heroine-- she's on the clumsy side and trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes, but she also has the biggest heart. Graeme comes off as a grump at first, but ultimately, he's the perfect kilt-wearing Scottish hero to come to her rescue... in more ways than one. Both of these characters had experienced loss in their lives that still affect them. It was interesting to see the contrast in how their families dealt with that loss... and how it shaped their own lives. Those deeper moments balanced perfectly with those over-the-top mishaps to send my emotions all over the place--- in the best way possible. There was a fantastic sense of found family--- with some meddling and matchmaking mixed in there too. And Lachlan? He was just the absolute cutest and added so much to the story. And with all the Scottish lore, well, this one will certainly have you wanting to plan your own trip too! I have never read a Pepper Basham book that I did not enjoy, but this one might just be my favorite one yet!
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

"It's not about your hold on God. It's about His hold on you."
Oh, Pepper Basham is the best. Her rom-coms are truly and utterly delightful. I loved Katie's fresh, honest, and fun first person voice and her accident-prone humorous self. She made me laugh until I cried. And Graeme. He was so sigh-worthy. His raw, tender, and steadfast first person voice drew me in from the beginning. He made me swoon and he made me cry especially when he loved on his family and talked about his twin sister. Katie's adventures and misadventures in Scotland were charming and lovely. I've never visited Scotland and now I so want to be there!
Their friendship and romance were incredibly sweet and I really enjoyed meeting Graeme's family members. Faith was naturally woven into the storyline and into the characters' lives and backstories. I loved the phrase "love lingers long" and will be pondering this for a while to come. The concept of home was central to Katie finally finding herself and I loved the idea that "sometimes home is a place and sometimes it's a person and sometimes it's both."
One of my favorite books of 2025! I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Thomas Nelson via JustRead Tours and NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁:
I always love book based in fun destinations so when I saw this slow burn sweet romance in Scotland it was an instant yes. This story follows two characters both who are dealing with loss in different ways and sheds a beautiful light on how we all process grief differently. I love both characters and how they bring balance to each other in different ways. You even get the knight on the shinning white horse moment, iykyk. Really fun book with a lots of depth and character growth. Plus the narration was spectacular and added so much to this story.
𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬:
Katie is an American travel author and she’s in Scotland the next 3 weeks for an immerse Edwardian Experience. Katie is known for her mishaps, she can’t help that trouble seems to find her and this trip will be no different. Well maybe slightly different as a grumpy Scot seems to keep saving her.
Graeme broke off his engagement, loss his sister and took in his nephew - life has thrown one thing after another at him the last few years. Now he’s renting out his family’s house to earn enough to hopefully renovate it in the future. He is protective of his family and has no plans to ever leave Scotland. Then an American falls into his life literally and he starts to see the possibility of more.

I dinnae ken if ye love Scottish stories as much as I do, but either way Some Like it Scot is a must read for Christian romcom fans!
Pepper Basham is one of my very favorite authors! I’ve read every single one of her books, and one of the things I love most about her writing (besides the knee-weakening kisses of course!) is the way I always find hope between the pages of her books! Her words speak truth straight to my heart, and every time I read one it feels like coming home!
I could so relate to Katie! No, I’m not a traveler, but I am a writer, and I’m tall, curvy, and often struggle with feeling unworthy and unwanted so I feel like we have quite a bit in common!
Graeme just might be my dream man! He’s strong, but gentle. Artistic and hardworking. A funny and tender-hearted family man with a heart for the Lord. And I mean come on, the man has a KILT!!!!! Not to mention a swoon-worthy accent that, were it directed at me, could likely make me forget my own name! Yes, please! Sign. Me. Up!
I also adored the side characters, especially little Lachlan, he is just the most precious thing ever!
I fell in love with the setting of this book immediately, and I hated to leave when I reached the end!
The Edwardian era is my favorite historical time period, so I absolutely loved the “Edwardian Experience” featured in this story! That element of the story sorta gave me Austenland vibes and I loved that!
This book gently and gracefully touches on the difficult topic of sibling grief, sprinkled with hope and healing. However, this story never felt depressing or too difficult to read. I’ve not experienced sibling grief, but I have experienced grief at the loss of other loved ones. One of the things I’m amazed by is how seamlessly Pepper Basham balances the heartbreaking and the humorous. Because in addition to being touching and poignant, this story is also hysterically funny! I completely lost track of how many times I laughed out loud while reading!
I totally and completely adored everything about Some Like it Scot!
I seriously wish I could crawl into this book and live there!
I think the world needs a new catchphrase to go alongside “Keep Calm and Carry On.”
I vote for “Dinnae fash yerself, just read Some Like it Scot.”
This book has a spot on my favorites of 2025 list, and I now NEED the paperback for my shelves!
Some Like it Scot is happiness in book form, and I most highly recommend it! Please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this one! You will not be sorry!
P.S. the audiobook is absolutely phenomenal! Can you say SWOON?!
I received complimentary ebook and audiobook copies of this book from the publisher via Netgalley!
My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own

Another delightful story by Pepper Basham! I love all things Scotland, and this book is no exception! It’s a fun story to pick up and enjoy.

Thank you to Netgalley for this arc. It was funny, sweet, charming, and super entertaining. I love rom coms done well and this is just that. I highly recommend reading this.

Another bonnie faith-filled romance from Pepper Basham!
What a fabulous story! I loved witnessing Katie and Graeme’s romance unfold in the picturesque Scottish highland, along with all the crazy happenings in Mull (and especially at Craigshill). The main and side characters jumped off the pages and kept me company while keeping me amused and my heart warm and squishy from all the “good feels” gushing at me.
Loved this story and the Scottishisms. I mean, how can one not love a book with words like “dunderheided”, “peely-wally” and “shoggled” dispersed throughout? Of course it’s a book worth reading!
I also loved the faith journey Katie and Graeme travelled. God was an integral part of their lives—as He is in mine—so a worthy addition to this story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Another absolute winner from a favorite author!!
When travel writer Kate Campbell travels to Scotland for three weeks for an immersive Edwardian experience, she expects beautiful Scottish scenery and a mishap or two. She does not, however, expect to find a place that finally feels like home, or to meet a grumpy Scotsman who accepts her just as she is.
Graeme doesn't trust many people but especially quirky travel writers who have no business distracting him and wreaking havoc in his quiet, steady life. But before long, he realizes he wants to be the home Kate has been searching for and is willing to do whatever it takes to have a future with her in it.
What you'll love:
grumpy/sunshine
dual pov
set in Scotland
protective, wounded hero
heroine looking for home
slow burn romance
ALL THE KISSES!!
found family
Katie’s misadventures
#hotscot
flirty banter
Highland games
perfectly perfect ending!!
Oh my word, what a swoon-worthy romance! This story evoked all of the emotions with its vivid characters and their poignant backstories. Kate was so relatable and lovable and I felt her heartache and longing for a tether, an anchor, a place to call home. Graeme's layers of grief and pain broke my heart and watching him begin to heal and let go was so beautiful! Every interaction between the two of them was captivating, either because I was laughing or swooning or crying or both! They so perfectly complemented each other!
This book was such a grand adventure. The curious assortment of residents, the hilarious Austenland-esque experience, the witty dialogue, the swoony chemistry and kisses, and the way that Graeme and Kate consistently rescue each other in so many ways made this book impossible to put down! This heartwarming story of family and belonging touched my heart and I cannot recommend it enough!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

Some Like It Scot is the eighth book I have read written by Pepper Basham. Ever since reading Authentically, Izzy, Pepper Basham has become an instant read. I have absolutely loved everything I have read, and some Like It Scot was no exception. I was sucked in from the very start and could not put the book down.
The character development was good. I loved getting to know each character and learning more about each one. Katie was absolutely hilarious. I loved her clumsiness and knack for getting herself into predicaments. It made for the perfect rom-com. Graeme was the perfect grumpy character. I loved getting to see behind the façade and peel back the layers. There were a lot of side characters; at times, it was a little hard to keep them state in my imagination.
The storyline was so fun. I loved that it is set in this Edwardian Experience/B&B in Scotland. Katie being a travel writer, gets invited to experience it all. Little did they know she wasn’t the average girl. The book was very entertaining and funny.
The relationship between Katie and Graeme was sweet. One thing I know I am going to get from Pepper Basham is passionate kisses, and it was present in this book as well. Some scenes were a little on the border for me and my preference. (ie referencing imagining what’s under clothing) scenes can easily be skimmed over. Other than that, clean, low-spice, closed-door romance. I enjoyed the grumpy/sunshine relationship dynamic. It was a fun read for me.
There were faith elements intertwined throughout the novel.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.

Katie Campbell is a writer who loves adventure. Her latest excursion has brought her to Scotland for 3 weeks to participate in an immersive Edwardian experience. Throughout her time on the island, she finds more than just period costumes and culture. The town shows her hospitality and kindness in ways that leave Katie questioning her on-the-go life.
I found this book to be so delightful and fun. I was grateful for the heartwarming interactions between characters. I really believed the heart behind them. 5/5
Also- closed door romance
Thank you NetGalley for the early copy!

A charming and heartfelt romance that will sweep readers off their feet with its blend of adventure, humor, and soul-searching. Katie Campbell, a fearless travel writer known for her hilarious misadventures, takes on a new challenge: immersing herself in Edwardian Scotland. But while she’s prepared for historical hijinks, she isn’t ready for Graeme MacKerrow, a brooding Scotsman deeply rooted in his family’s land and traditions.

Oh my goodness! Some Like It Scot had my emotions all over the place! It's absolutely adorable. Rom-com lovers, this is for you! Pepper Basham gets me. I mean, I don't know her, but still. Katie Campbell's reactions to Scotland...the feeling it gave her...I feel that! Deep in my soul. And I've not even been to Scotland! I just get all of the feels when I watch things like Escape to the Country, and I see my perfect dream of sweeping land and cozy homes and villages you can walk to. Sigh. Unlike Katie, I DO like sheep. Not that I've been around them. I just want to look at the sweeping land and see sheep and highland cows (Katie had a bad sheep experience...you'll have to read to find out if she's cool with the cows...coos).
Graeme is so swoony! His mom, nephew, brother(s), the knitters...I loved them! They give Katie the feeling of home that she's been longing for. There is so much humor in this, and a great deal of it revolves around the Edwardian Experience that Katie is there for. You just HAVE to read it. I was laughing and crying and sometimes both at the same time...like not even happy tears. Sad tears but with a happy feeling. Again, you just HAVE to read it. You just do. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! I highly recommend it! (obviously)
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This story nailed the healing! I love when I read a book and the story is filled with a journey of self discovery and of course, beautiful romance! I loved the chemistry of the characters and especially the way everything just connected. I loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley for this story! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Some Like it Scot is a new book by Pepper D. Basham. It will debut in early April so there is still time to pre-order. I enjoyed this rom-com. It has all of the witty banter that the author is known for plus it had an Edwardian weekend planned that reminded me of the board game Clue. All of the period dressing and dancing is what really sealed it for me. Time and again I would swallow a laugh, as it was after hours. I hope that you will enjoy this book as much as I did. I received this early copy from NetGalley and all my opinions are my own.

This Is Wonderful!
🌷I was expecting a cute romcom with a bit of a Scottish flare but what I got was an amazing story full of funny, chaotic misadventures, a homey family, faith, tons of Scottish language/ scenery and personal growth!
🌷Both of the main characters are wonderful and the side characters are not far behind. From the knitting ladies to a sweet little boy and even a crazy bird every character was written perfectly.
🌷I absolutely adored everything about this book! Highly recommend it as your next read!
🌷Spice: 0
🌷Language: 0
🌷TW: grief, death in the families (past), difficult family dynamics.

"Oh my goodness! I loved this book. So sweet, so beautiful, and so funny! Well written and very enjoyable. Pepper Basham is a new to me author. 5 ⭐️ to her writing. I loved the scottish setting, the folklore, and wonderful Scottish people portrayed in this book. Graeme is the most giant of cinnamon roll heroes. Katie is the most alive and go-with-the-flow ""mis-adventurer."" You will be laughing along with her in all of her scrapes she gets into. While this book is fun it also deals with themes of grief and disconnected parents. It also mentions God and going to church and the characters' faith in Him. It is not ""preachy"" or pushy, simply the characters have faith and it is shown as characteristics of the main characters. There are no swears or alcohol, and level 1 non-descriptive kisses only. Dual first person present POV. I listened to the Audiobook and the dual narrators were superb and did excellent accents. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #SomeLikeItScot #NetGalley #ThomasNelsonFiction"

If all rom coms were this amazing, I’d be reading a whole lot more of them. Basham has crafted a novel with the wit, humor, and romance I expected of a rom com, but the depth of the story and characters were a pleasant surprise that will keep me returning to the story.
Katie and Graeme were an incredible leading couple with their uniqueness and relatability combined with their protection of and care for those around them. As the story progressed, their growth felt natural, and challenged me to look at what lies I might be believing in my own life.
Accompanied by a cast of diverse, funny, and heart-warming characters, Katie and Graeme give us a glimpse of life in Scotland, with just the right amount of whimsy and hilarious experiences to make it memorable. This is a story I’ll be returning to again, both for the laugh-out-loud misadventures and the heart-warming truths about love and life.

Such a fun, sweet book! I was able to enjoy this story as both an audiobook and e-book, and I have to say having the Scottish accents of each character in my ear served to enhance the movie playing in my head as I read along. I loved the incorporation of faith into this sweet romance/romcom book. Dual POV switching between male and female main characters/love interests isn't usually my favorite, but I really enjoyed it in this story. The character development was great and I loved getting to know them through this book. Thank you very much to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book had everything I love. Scottish setting. Quirky characters. Quippy banter. I loved Katie so much. She was so relatable and real. All of the side characters were delightful. I cannot wait to see what this author has next!

This book has all the charm of a classic rom-com but layers it with an unexpected depth that took me completely by surprise!
This book has grief, heart, found family, and a brooding Scottish man who’s been through more than he lets on.
It’s tender. It’s hilarious. It’s healing. And it’s the perfect cozy romance read!
This book is warm and witty and full of moments that sneak up on you emotionally. It’s slow, but purposefully so. You’re not rushing toward a dramatic twist-you’re soaking in every little interaction that builds trust, love, and belonging.
I laughed. A lot.
I cried, unexpectedly.
And by the end, I felt like I’d taken a deep breath after holding it in too long.
Some Like It Scot doesn't rely on spice or spectacle. There’s no over-the-top drama. Just heartfelt, sometimes messy, always honest storytelling. It’s a rare kind of romantic comedy that balances lighthearted banter with real emotional weight—and does it beautifully!

Happy Sigh!!!! Y'all, this book!!! Soooo good! I know I should think of better descriptive words than "soooo good," but it's very true! I just adored this book so much! Oops, there I go again with the "so's." Sorry, not sorry. I loved this one so much that this is my second read/listen through. Yes, I read it first and then I was given an early audiobook copy and loved being pulled back into this sweet world of Katie Campbell's! She made me smile and cry and laugh! I just adored her character so much. She brought a light with her everywhere she went and helped to lighten the loads of those around her. Especially a really grump Scot. Hahaha! But it just goes to show that she shines brightly that this surly Scot couldn't help but notice and be affected.
Oh my heart!!! I loved every scene with Katie and Graeme in it. And every moment that they are thinking of each other, especially when trying NOT to think of the other.
You'll love the spark and chemistry and tension between these two. As well as the friendship that develops and then continues to grow into a sweet love story. Awwww! These two just compliment each other perfectly. They bring balance to each other. And fill the needs of each other's hearts and souls. Perfection!
The narrators of the audiobooks brought the story to life so beautifully! Their inflections and the emotions that they added made it that much more enjoyable! If you can't tell, I'm hooked and a big fan of this book!
Pick it up and be transported to the beautiful hills and crags of Scotland! You won't want to leave!
Content: Clean. Some sweet kisses but nothing further.
I received a digital copy from the publisher, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and the audiobook from the producer, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!

Enjoyable read
I love stories that are set in Scotland, such a beautiful country with wonderful people. So, when I saw this book, I really wanted to read it. And I wasn’t disappointed. Our main female character is Katie Campbell, and American travel writer with no definite home. She has parents but her only sister has passed a few years prior. Katie is given an assignment to cover a 3-week Edwardian Experience at a Scottish home named Craighill House. Here she meets Graeme MacKerrow, whose family owns the house. He’s not very friendly and is overworked and is also raising his young nephew. Graeme does have a wonderful family who have large parts in this slow burn romance. Both characters are well developed and show honest emotions and are very real to life. I would hope that Pepper Basham would add additional books set here in the small village that Craighill House is located.
I was given an ARC by NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

I love this book! It is funny, witty, inspiring, and romantic. I adore the characters they are complex and interesting. They are characters that you want for friends. Katie is kind, funny, friendly and has no idea of her worth. Graeme is a bit grumpy, feels deeply, is fiercely loyal and is always saving Katie from some trouble. The side characters are just as loveable. So many life lessons in this book as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

As I am someone fascinated by certain points in history, I would be all over a real Edwardian Highland experience and that’s just how Katie (love her name 😉) finds herself in Scotland. Is this adventure as amazing as she had hoped it would be? Let’s just say that all that glitters isn’t gold, including a sullen Scot named Graeme, but it did provide a lot of entertainment.
This slight enemies-to-love vibe is rolled with sugar and spice, creating the most delicious cinnamon roll hero to exist. I adored these characters and their personalities fascinated me.
There are so many opposites with this duo–one longs for home and familiarity while the other aches for exploration; one finds himself a parent to a precocious nephew while the other lives carefree; one is full of sunshine and light and the other is filled with reality and grumpiness. But this story that showcases all things Scotland allows for these characters to bond over a common thread of loss.
Witty connections full of banter and chemistry tie this sweet story together in such a lovely way. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrators.
Content: mild religion; mild romance; mild moment of peril

Travel writer Katie Campbell is excited for the chance to go to Scotland after growing up with her Scottish American Grandfather always telling stories of the beauty Scotland possesses. As Katie arrives to the beautiful Craighill House where she will get to "live as an Edwardian," she is instantly drawn into chaos and is saved by a grumpy giant Scot man. Katie's path continues to cross with the grumpy Graeme MacKerrow but she starts to wonder if there is more to him than just a grumpy Scot.
This is such a fun romance set primarily in Scotland. It made me want to travel there with all the beautiful descriptions. This book has such fun witty banter but also deeper topics with loss of sibling and parent neglect discussions. I loved this read and definitely recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Oh my word. You know the book is good when you finish, you are crying happy tears.
This slow burn rom com was so delicious. Katie’s humor and enthusiasm is a joy. Graeme’s care of Katie and his love for his family is lovely.
They both have walked through the losing of a loved one but their experiences are so unique. Watching them grow through their experiences helped me with my own.
I can’t wait to share this book with my family and friends. I received an advanced copy of this book. The review and thoughts are my own.

Pepper Basham is one of my favorite authors. She writes the kind of books where I find myself smiling or giggling as I'm reading. And that's just what I got in Some Like it Scot!
Katie, a travel writer, meets grumpy Graeme when she goes to Scotland to immerse herself for a three-week Edwardian experience. The setting is perfect and so is their romance. They both have things they're dealing with and they learn how love can help one another learn and grow. It was just so sweet and so much fun!
Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen did a wonderful job narrating! All opinions are my own.
Publication date: 8 April 2025

There were so many things I loved about this story. Pepper Basham has a gift of weaving together humorous stories, along with meaningful takeaways. The main characters, as well as many of the supporting characters, were charming and brought this story to life. You can tell Pepper has a heart for people, with the way she weaves rich relationships into her stories. As for the two main characters, they both had some past struggles to work through. Yet the reader watches them strengthen and grow on their journey. They are lovable and pull the reader in. Since I’ve never been to Scotland, I also loved being table to experience the country through this story. This book is full of laugh-out-loud moments. Yet there were also some deep meaningful lines that made me think about my own life. This story was a delight to read. And I especially loved the faith elements woven throughout the book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a delightful book! Katie, a travel writer known for her misadventures, is spending three weeks in Scotland for an Edwardian Experience (think Downton Abbey). Graeme is a hunky Scot who owns the manor where the experience is held. Misadventures ensue.
While this is filled with beautiful locales, puns, and a fun cast of characters, this book is much more than a simple rom-com. Both main characters are dealing with deep grief that has resulted in closing themselves off. Katie travels. Graeme stays close to home. This story looks at what home is and how you handle things - or people - outside your control.
Plus, there is Scotland which is practically a character in itself. And now I desperately want to go.
This is Christian fiction so expect prayer, church, and discussions about God.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone.
Family friendly.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I absolutely love it when a book surprises the crap out of me! This story was funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, filled with tons of misadventures, and characters that touched my heart (and soul) more than I was expecting.
I adore Scotland backdrops, one of my favorite authors (Samantha Young) is located in Scotland, so there are few stories that I've found that capture my heart like hers does, but damn if this book didn't sweep me off my feet. This is a new author for me, and I absolutely fell in love with her writing style and her amazing story. Graeme and Katie were simply the cutest couple, and I love it when a big burly man (especially a Scot) falls like a big oak tree over an unsuspecting, klutzie woman. The secondary characters added sooo much to this story, and there were definitely tears throughout this book for me. I plan to read more from this author, definitely a very entertaining book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

My favourite book so far this year!
The accurate and authentic use of the Scottish language and description of the country side made me feel as if I was right there in Mull experiencing Katie's misadventures beside her. Some Like It Scot is so well written! The pun war between different characters had you laughing constantly even though you know it was being used as a way to deflect and avoid discussing an unwanted topic, aka emotional pain/ trauma.
I related to Katie in the sense of failure when it comes to parental expectations and the relief from time spent with and at her grand parents. Author Pepper Basham's way of addressing the growth and healing through Jesus the characters found, was honest and inspiring. A must read!

After reading this book, I was ready to buy a plane ticket to Scotland and go experience its beauty for myself! I loved reading this book! It is immersive and hilarious and sweet, and there are so many things to love about it.
I laughed so many times while reading! Katie is witty and her misadventures are hilarious. I also loved her kind heart, and her character development is beautifully written. I felt for her, and I was cheering for her to overcome past trauma and find happiness in Scotland. Speaking of that happiness, Graeme, the hero of the story, is grumpy and heartbroken at first, and seeing him find joy while falling for Katie was great. They are perfect for each other!
I loved the setting so much. Scotland is one of my bucket list places I want to visit someday, and it was all so beautifully described in this book! And the side characters were hilarious and sweet, and I loved them.
This is an awesome book, and I’m so happy I read it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Pepper Basham writes books that are witty, humorous, and engaging. In Some Like It Scot, there are two main characters who are really fun to get to know, a grumpy and broody Scottish man and a clumsy but caring and fun American girl Katie is in Scotland for an Edwardian Experience for the traveling blog/website she writes for. She is called Miss Adventure because of her accidents and misadventures. Graeme's family owns the manor house where the event takes place, although the house is rented to another party. The two don't start off on the right foot but do develop an appreciation for each other as time goes on. Think, hot Scot rescues clumsy American girl. Again and Again. Throw in some likable locals, including Graeme's mom and nephew, and Katie falls in love with her first generation American Scottish grandfather's family's homeland and this is a delightful read. Both have some issues to overcome but faith leads them to face their past. Oh and a kilt, Scottish Games, and bagpipes! Loved it!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my thoughts.

Going into a book knowing it promises a happily ever after comes with certain expectations, and this one absolutely delivers on every level. Our leading lady is an American travel writer whose entire brand revolves around chaos—so much so that her series is called Misadventures. No trip ever goes according to plan, and that’s exactly what makes her experiences so entertaining. When she gets the chance to spend three weeks in an immersive historical experience, she’s all in—until, of course, she finds herself tangled up with a swoon-worthy Scotsman. But love isn’t as simple as storybook endings, especially when both parties carry their own doubts, fears, and deep-seated beliefs about what they’re willing to change for someone else. What follows is a whirlwind of attraction, tension, and, of course, plenty of miscommunication.
This book has everything I could want in a love story—heartache, self-discovery, and a romance that keeps you rooting for the characters despite all their obstacles. The setting is beautifully described, making the town and its surroundings feel as immersive as the historical experience itself. Every moment felt rich with emotion, from the lighthearted mishaps to the deeper, more vulnerable conversations. It’s the kind of read that sweeps you up and leaves you with a full heart by the end. If you’re looking for a charming, feel-good romance with just the right amount of adventure, this one is a must-read!

Wow! What a wonderful read! This is not the first book I have read by Pepper Basham and it will certainly not be the last, but I will just say that it definitely rises to the title of “one of my favorites.” I read the physical book and listened to the audiobook and both were winners. The narrators of the audiobook were top notch. I mean, who can resist an accent?
This book is filled with many of the things that I appreciate about Basham’s writing – her delightful sense of humor, her unique and varied characters, and her love of family and relationships. The concept of “home” is clearly presented in this novel and I was engrossed in this part of the story.
I highly (See what I did there?) recommend this fun “trip” to Scotland with Katie and Graeme!
I reviewed this book through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Sometimes home is where you find it. Katie Campbell has been globetrotting since her grandparents’ deaths, untethered and free, a social media star for her travel adventures and misadventures. A three week Edwardian Experience in Scotland is eccentric, but right up her alley. A thieving parrot and a tumble into the loch are hairy situations that make perfect stories for her followers; it is the #hotScot that whips them into a frenzy, though. And for some reason, Graeme MacKerrow seems to be present for every misadventure, seeing her only in the worst possible light while saving her life time and again. If only he was not so grumpy. And so infernally hot.
Some Like It Scot is heavy on the grump, the #hotScot and misadventure. Pepper Basham has created a community of quirky, lovable characters and brought them together in a spellbinding setting with experiences, both Edwardian and modern, that weave them together like the sturdiest plaid. A fair amount of frustration, a good bit of humor, and the nicest bit of heat make this a fun story to read about finding home, even when you did not realize you were searching for it. If you are looking for a fun romp with a good heart, a handful of humor and a dash of sweet heat, Some Like It Scot is a great pick.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to read an early copy of Some Like It Scot. The characters are so human with fears and sadness and insecurities.
Katie Campbell is known as Miss Adventure because she travels the world collecting stories and adventures, some of which result from clumsiness. Her family situation leaves her feeling inadequate and alone.
Graeme McKerrow is a talented carver and owner of his historical family home on the Isle of Mull. His heart is bruised after losing his sister and his fiancé.
The setting is the Isle of Mull in Scotland. The descriptions will carry your heart and imagination to Scotland and leave you longing for a visit.
Graeme’s family home is being used to hold a three week Edwardian Experience. There are so many funny moments, so many tender moments, and much food (words) for thought. Katie and Graeme’s first encounters are a bit antagonistic, but soon more friendly feelings develop.
I love this book. It has me wanting to visit Scotland. It leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy. This is a beautiful read for spring.

Sometimes home isn’t a place, it’s a person. For Katie she learns her home is with Graeme and same for Graeme. Honestly I wasn’t expecting this book to make me cry but here we are, I’m crying. Happy tears of course. I feel a kinship to Katie especially in the being extremely clumsy department. I really like that she is able to flip her accidents into fun adventures. Such a good read!

Basham is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I loved this book. Graeme and Katie may be my new favorite hero and heroine. They both had a lovely, funny way about them. Their conversations were always entertaining. It was a delight.
Katie is tall, quirky, funny, full of adventure or should I say misadventure. She continually finds herself in scrapes and uses that to bring a levity to her travel posts. Her grandpa used to say that the "only grace I had was the grace of God" (location 86). I loved this premise right from the start. It didn't disappoint.
Graeme has a wonderful, loving family that envelops Katie. She almost doesn't know what to make of it. It's so different from her own family. It was beautiful seeing her blossom as someone cared for her for who she really was.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I'd highly recommend it. It was delightful. All opinions are my own.

Katie Campbell makes a living as a travel writer, chronicling her misadventures for a magazine, blog, and social media outlets. She loves her job, because she’d rather be anywhere but within easy reach of her hypercritical mother. Ever since Katie’s beloved grandparents passed away, Katie hasn’t felt at home.
Until she takes a three-week assignment in Scotland and falls in love with the land of her grandpa’s heritage, the mother-like owner of the local bookstore, and an enchanting young orphan lad. Despite her work—taking part in an immersive Edwardian experience at a manor house—trouble hunts her down and knocks her off the stairs and into the arms of a local Scotsman. A handsome Scotsman with enough height and breadth (oh, those muscles!) to catch all six feet one of her.
The mishaps continue, as does the unlikely appearance of her Scottish hero. In each other, they discover a shared penchant for puns, a love of the moody Scottish landscape, and losses that carved deep gullies in their hearts.
Before the assignment ends, the entire village of Glenkirk and Katie’s growing readership has shipped Katie with her #hotScot. If only. How can a kind and grumpy artist wrest himself away from home and forge a relationship with an American filled with wanderlust?
Maybe the answer lies in redefining home.
What I Loved About This Book
Pepper Basham hits a home run with this laugh-out-loud funny rom-com. Your sides will ache from Katie’s misadventures, and your heart will ache with hers as she realizes her mother might never heal enough to be the mother her little girl heart has always longed for. Basham skillfully weaves the comic with the divine, leaving readers vowing to forge closer relationships with those they hold dear and the One who holds their hearts. Fans of Emma St. Clair and Courtney Walsh will enjoy this book.

Popular travel writer and podcaster Katie Campbell is offered the chance to explore her ancestral roots through a three-week Edwardian experience in the beauty and eccentricity of Scotland. In her period attire, with traditional foods and activities, the opportunities for misadventures are endless, especially with the presence of a maniacal macaw, a jealous co-worker, and an all-too-surly Scotsman.
I loved this from the very beginning with all the misadventures Katie found herself in. Graeme was none too pleased to help her out but slowly warmed up to her which was sweet to see. I loved their chemistry even as they knew a relationship was highly improbable.
The exploration of grief in this was beautiful. Both Katie and Graeme had their own experience with it. The side characters were also a fun addition with all their quirks and humour.
I loved the narrators for the audio. Their Scottish accents were superb and gave life to the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is an absolute delight! I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this book. It's a perfect blend of romance, humor, and inspiration, with a beautiful underlying message of faith that resonates throughout the story.
The characters are richly developed and incredibly relatable. The romance between the protagonists is heartwarming, with just the right amount of tension and playful banter to keep you engaged. Basham's skillful writing brings the Scottish setting to life, and her ability to weave humor into the narrative had me laughing out loud at several points.
Beyond the romance and comedy, this book is truly inspirational. It explores themes of trust, redemption, and the power of faith in a way that feels genuine and uplifting. It's refreshing to read a story that integrates faith so seamlessly into the characters' lives without feeling preachy or forced.
Overall, Some Like It Scot is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance novel that's as heartfelt as it is humorous. Pepper Basham has outdone herself with this one, and I wholeheartedly give it a five-star rating. Highly recommended!

Fancy a trip to the highlands for an immersive Edwardian experience? Katie Campbell aka Miss Adventure has gotten an invite and she is looking forward to three weeks on Mull. What she does not plan on finding there is a hot Scot named Graeme. Before she knows it her followers are matching her up for better or worse. And with Katie's talent for finding trouble, there seems to be more of the latter. The cast of characters includes locals and other influencers. The ladies in the knitting club are a hoot (led by Graeme's deam mum Mirren). And young Lachlan with his faithful dog companion Wedge -- what a dear lad! I would love to give him a hug.🤗
With every book I read by Pepper Basham, I am becoming more of a fan. This new release gives one all the feels as it is in turns sweet, sassy, stirring, and spellbinding. Definitely makes me want to add Scotland to my travel list.😎
There we have it, folks! Proof that I can enjoy a Scottish tale on audio. I have suspected as much for some time. The dazzling narration of Stina Nelson as Katie Campbell and Joshua Manning as Graeme MacKerrow seals the deal. So glad I decided to pair the digital ARC with an audio copy. That Scottish brogue is like butter! 🧈
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and NetGalley for my digital and audio ARCs. All opinions are my own.

Pure delight! As always, Pepper Basham's book is full of laugh out loud moments as well as the ones that tug at your heart. When I began this story, I did not realize the depths of feelings I would experience. I expected some laughs, a swoony hero and some good warm feels. But I was pleasantly surprised. I found it to be a multi-layered story that digs deep. This one is a story of how different families deal with grief and the long term effects their coping or lack of can have on a family for years to come.
The heroine is purely lovable, one that is aware of all her flaws yet hides her wounded heart behind her laughter and self-deprecating humor. Accidents seem to shadow her every step. Add a grumpy, yet swoony Scot to the mix and I couldn't wait to see how this romance between opposites would unfold.
Ms. Basham's love for Scotland and its people simply oozes off the page, allowing her readers a heartwarming fictional escape.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I laughed, snorted, and sighed. Some Like it Scot by Pepper Basham was such a fun romcom, but it had depth too. Katie Campbell is sure she’s fine traveling the world without roots… until she meets Graeme and his family on an island in Scotland and realizes maybe everything she has always wanted is right in front of her, she just needs to be brave enough to embrace it. I loved that amidst the humor and beauty of the island and the charming characters lies Katie’s longing to belong somewhere and to be loved for who she is. Her misadventures had me laughing! But this story really shines in its ability to have me laugh one minute and to be completely sucked in to deep introspection or conversation the next.
I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. I was not asked to leave a positive review. My opinions are my own.

Book Review: Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that Some Like It Scot is my first Pepper Basham novel—but the silver lining is that I now get to dive into her backlist! What a joyful discovery this book was.
The story follows Katie, a travel writer and photographer known for sharing her “Miss Adventures” with her online followers. She’s funny, self-deprecating, and utterly relatable—especially if, like me, you’ve experienced your fair share of mishaps. Her latest assignment lands her in the Scottish Highlands, where she meets Graeme MacKerrow: brooding, charming, and completely swoonworthy. Their witty banter and playful puns made their dynamic so enjoyable to read.
Katie and Graeme both experience meaningful growth over the course of the story, and watching them work through their individual challenges was a true highlight. Their emotional arcs felt natural and satisfying, adding depth to the sweet, slow-burn romance.
The MacKerrow family is another shining aspect of the book. I especially loved Mirren, the warm-hearted bookstore owner who immediately bonds with Katie, and Lachlan, an endearing eight-year-old with refreshingly honest insights and a loyal dog named Wedge. Basham does a wonderful job creating a family atmosphere that adds richness and charm to the story.
While the Scottish scenery is beautifully described, I found myself more drawn to the snappy dialogue and heartfelt interactions between characters. And perhaps best of all, Pepper Basham weaves faith into the narrative with grace and authenticity, enhancing the story without ever overwhelming it.
Some Like It Scot is a delightfully funny, heartwarming journey of healing, hope, and belonging. It’s the kind of story that leaves you smiling long after the final page. I highly recommend it—and now I’m off to read everything else Basham has written!

I loved the trip I took to Scotland while reading Some Like It Scot. Pepper Basham took me on a literary tour through the bustling streets and shops of the city to the picturesque countryside. Her descriptions of weather, places, people and atmosphere had me feeling immersed in the Country and longing to visit there myself.
The female main character Katie Campbell, is a relatable travel writer and social media influencer. Her travel adventures take her all over the world, but typically Katie encounters some type of mishap and she has turned it into her online persona, “Miss Adventure”. I love how Katie is down to earth, fun and easily able to take different situations in stride. Katie’s struggle with family and setting down roots stem from her sister's death and the trip then becomes her journey of grief and acceptance.
The main male character, Graeme, was the perfect complement to Katie. Graeme comes across as grumpy, hard working, and fiercely loyal to his family and his home. It’s a classic case of grumpy and sunshine romance which I was totally into. Katie and Graeme challenge each other in the best ways which help them to see their situations in a different light.
This romance, while being fun and humorous, also deals with grief in a gentle and sensitive way. If you love Scotland, travel, castles, family, friendship, and grumpy/sunshine trope then this story is one you will not want to miss!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley andThomas Nelson Fiction. I was not required to provide a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

I enjoyed reading Some Like it Scot, a delightful romantic comedy set in Scotland. Katie is a jet-setting travel writer and podcaster from North Carolina who lands in Scotland for three weeks. She’s known for her hilarious misadventures and for finding herself in ridiculous situations. Her latest adventure on the Isle of Mull is an opportunity to immerse herself in an Edwardian Experience with Downton Abbey vibes. Katie has Scottish ancestry, courtesy of her late grandfather, and she’s fascinated by Scottish culture.
Graeme is a down-to-earth Scotsman and a talented woodworker. His family is close knit, and he cares for his late twin sister’s young son. Graeme guards his heart after being burned by his ex-fiance who left him to pursue her career goals.
Graeme’s family recently purchased their ancestral Scottish family estate that was sold a century earlier. The upkeep of the property is expensive, and they rent out their grand home for six months to an eccentric English couple who want to create an Edwardian Experience vacation destination.
The meet cute between Katie and Graeme is hilarious. They are from different worlds and Katie isn’t staying in Scotland. Or anywhere. Her work life is like one long vacation and she’s careful to avoid getting close to people or putting down roots. She discovers she can’t outrun her emotional baggage from her childhood and family situation.
I loved the many LOL moments in the story that draw Katie and Graeme closer together. Their romance is sweet and poignant as they deal with challenging situations and past hurts. Sometimes Katie edges close to moving into unreliable narrator territory as she wrestles with deep-seated issues. Graeme is her rock. He sees the real Katie, and her vulnerabilities, which are different from her happy-go-lucky and carefree public persona.
The quirky cast of side characters, and quite a few animals, create a charming Scottish village that I’d love to visit. I recommend Some Like it Scot to contemporary romance readers who like Scottish vacation romcoms with an Edwardian flavour that includes found family themes and a relevant faith element in the story.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I just finished reading Some Like It Scot...as I slowly close the cover, I mentally rise clapping, cheering and applauding Pepper Basham's new book! Then, because I have made such a connection with Katie Campbell, I start reading directly from the beginning again! As I reread the book, I pick up some wonderful facts that I missed the first time...it is even better the second time around! Katie Campbell is a travel writer and is in Scotland for an extensive trip in a wonderful Edwardian experience in the beautiful Scottish house. There are parts in this story that are so clever, unique and downright funny that you laugh out loud! This story was a perfect balm to my teacher-tired soul and provides a wonderful reading experience with the perfect ending. You too, will stand and applaud this new novel, Some Like it Scot!

When you pick up a book by Pepper Basham, chances are you already assume you are going to fall in love with the characters and the plot. It also puts a lot of pressure on an author to always deliver a book that no one wants to put down. She has always comes through for me despite having novels of varying genres. I couldn't help but wonder, could she pull it off again? Well, of course, she did!
Ironically, a book I read this one was about an social media influencer. When I picked up Some Like It Scot, I found it interesting that I was reading another book about someone who faced the challenge to making thing interesting for their followers on social media. Katie finds herself in a new adventure that follows her life of misadventures. This time she gets an unexpected part of the adventure, meeting a Scot, Graeme.
As usual, the book carried humor and true laugh out loud moments. It also had some deeper reflective moments for both characters that brought the book deeper meaning. To be honest, I think that is my favorite part of Pepper Basham's books. She knows who to make us laugh and smile, while at the same time taking us deep as well. Some Like It Scot was no different! Can't wait to see what journey she will take me on next!
I would recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

This is my first Pepper Basham book and I throughly enjoyed it. It was fun and lighthearted it piqued my interest and kept it going through the whole book!

I had forgotten how funny Pepper Basham's books can be! Some Like It Scot is funny from the first scene to the end, with a few tears thrown in for balance.
Katie Campbell is a travel writer/blogger/video blogger who writes under the character, Miss Adventure. Turns out, it's the many misadventures she has that draw views. When she is offered the chance to travel to her beloved grandfather's homeland, Scotland, she jumps at the chance even though she will be required to dress in Edwardian English costume while she is there. Katie learns very quickly that there were no 6'1" women in Edwardian England as every dress she is given is far too short giving "scandalous" views of her ankles. Not only that, her size otherwise means she feels like a stuffed sausage in anything she is given. Her introduction to the manor house she will be sharing with the other participants involves a huge parrot, a broken stair railing, and a hot Scot who saves her from disaster.
Graeme MacKerrow recently re-purchased his family's estate. The purchase took everything he had, leaving nothing for the upkeep and repairs that need to be done, so he rents it out to the Lennoxes to use for their Edwardian Experience. He doesn't expect the walking disaster that is Katie and he doesn't expect to be charmed by her.
This is one of those "grumpy/sunshine" stories with so much heart! I loved the characters: Mirren - Graeme's wise, loving mother; Lachlan - Graeme's imp of a nephew; Graeme and Katie; the knitting group of ladies. Every one of them made me want to pull up a chair and just listen to them talk. I also loved how Katie not only fell for the people of Scotland, she also felt completely at home and accepted there. Her misadventures were both funny and sometimes terrifying, but Graeme always came through to rescue her. (Maybe I'm the only one who remembers that old cartoon where the hero came on scene singing, "Here I come to save the day!!" I could hear that in my mind when Katie had some of her more dangerous mishaps.)
Readers who love romance with a hefty dose of comedy will love Some Like It Scot. I really hope Pepper Basham plans to write more stories set in the Isle of Mull.. It really made me want to visit! (And if you have the chance to choose the book or the audio, I HIGHLY recommend the audio! The narrator who voices Graeme is stellar!)

I absolutely loved this book! Pepper Basham has such an incredible way of writing her characters and makes you feel like you personally know them. Katie and Graeme, “the hot Scot”, were the perfect grumpy/sunshine couple! I found myself laughing out loud many times throughout the book whether it was one of Katie’s mishaps or their banter.
I love Basham’s writing style and how her books make you feel with the characters throughout. I appreciate the humor she sprinkled in this story along with real life struggles of finding your place and dealing with grief. Also, the references to Clue were a fun addition, I loved that game growing up!
Audio notes:
The narrators were a perfect fit for the story! I love the dual POV and how the book was read. I personally like to speed up my books and I could easily understand the narration at a faster pace. The Scottish accent was well done.
Thank you NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the complimentary audio and digital copy of the book.

I laughed throughout this whole story! I absolutely adored the humor in this one! Also I now want to take a trip to Scotland!
I received an ARC from Netgalley and all opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful grumpy-sunshine rom-com by a new to me author. The very well-written plot is sweet and clean and much fun to read. It's full of mishaps, puns, witty banter, self-deprecation, sarcasm and quirky moments that had me alternately laughing out loud and smiling throughout the book. There are also moments of reflection and self-realisation that really touched me. Katie and Graeme are endearing characters who both still struggle with tragic events from their past. I loved Katie’s humor and kindness, and Graeme is a sweet cinnamon roll hero with a big heart. Although they are complete opposites, they are good for each other and have great chemistry. I also loved the amusing and very likable side characters, especially Graeme's mum and nephew stole my heart from the start and that Katie found a new family and home in Scotland.
Katie Campbell is a travel writer known as Miss Adventure for her misadventures. She travels to the Scottish Isle of Mull to take part in an Edwardian Experience at Craighill House, which is organised by the Lennox family for a period of three weeks. As soon as she arrives, her first mishap occurs and she is rescued by the attractive, brooding Scot Graeme MacKerrow.
After a century, Graeme and his family have managed to buy back their ancestors' country estate, Craighill House. But renovating and maintaining it is expensive, that’s why they had to rent the country estate to the Lennoxes to earn money for the upkeep, even though Graeme is not happy with their project. After the loss of his sister and the end of his engagement, Graeme likes to keep to himself and his family, but the clumsy American travel writer who falls into his arms and seems to attract trouble like a magnet fascinates him from the very first moment and as a guest at Craighill House he can't avoid her.
Even though they are attracted to each other, Katie is a globetrotter and social media star and Graeme is too rooted in his homeland...
If you like sweet and clean rom-coms with lovable protagonists and side characters, great character development and wit, you are sure to enjoy this book!
I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

There was so much about this that was so good! It made me miss Scotland, it captured some of the elements of Scotland that do not translate anywhere outside of that country and the magic that is the countryside and the myths and legends that linger within the society. There is also a Bit of the way history is a living element woven into the culture.
Aside from that, the characters were fun, the psychological/mental health struggles we're well represented and fairly represented- and by that I mean they weren't excuses and they were worked through in a way that is very real. The relationships throughout the book were so fun, The situations were hilarious and unreal and pure comedy. I can't recommend this enough.

This is the type of slow burn romance that I love. The characters are enchanting their plot lines keep you engaged and of course it is in my favorite country in the world, Scotland. I love everything about this book. Graeme is the perfect amount of cranky and his opening of his heart is just enduring. Katie has learned how to take all the unique things life throws at her and embrace them instead of being discouraged. Yes, it takes them forever to realize they are the other half of each other, but it feels real and not rushed and that is just everything.
Thank you so much to Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

Pepper Basham has done it again!
The whole premise of an "Edwardian experience" is fun and quirky. Most of the book takes place in Scotland, and I was happy to immerse myself in that beautiful setting. The adventure and "Miss Adventure" is quite entertaining!
The relationships that develop are so good! Sometimes I just want some loving, joyful people and this book has it. There are some serious topics, too, and I did cry. But I also cry at the God moments.
Katie and Graeme have my heart. Plus Graeme's mom and nephew. I might like this family more than Basham's Edgewood family in her Skymar trilogy! Highly recommended!

I love reading Pepper Basham's work. It was easy to select this advanced reader's copy from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. This is my own personal opinion of this book. I love it.
Katie Campbell, an American, is a travel blogger. She goes to Scotland to take part in an "Edwardian Experience" and write about it in her "Where in the world is Miss Adventure" blog. The misadventure is usually what Katie experiences which makes it a popular blog. Her subscribers can't wait to see what trouble she gets into next as she pokes fun of herself. She is to stay at Craighill House as a guest of the Lennox family where the group dresses and experiences things from the Edwardian era.
Graeme MacKerrow is trying to save his family legacy. A very serious man he endures Katie dropping in on him during a misadventure. She sees him as a surly person. He is not the only thorn in her side. She is unhappy to see a competitor from the blogging world has also been invited for the experience.
I like Katie as a character. She is humorous, sweet, kind and scarred by her family relationships. Life is easier as long as she is traveling, place to place. (Most of her misadventures are laugh out loud for the reader.)
Lachlan is a wonderful little boy who reflects what he has been taught by his family. their actions and love.
Graeme is an excellent, multi-faceted character. To me, this is one of the most romantic books I've read so far this year. I really hope that this is the start of a series. There are two more swoony brothers in the MacKerrow family.
Readers who appreciate a clean romance with mystery, humor and faith I really think you will enjoy this story. It's a five-star read for me.

Once again Pepper Basham has a wonderful tale full of realistic and lovable characters. I was so excited to join Pepper Basham in Scotland to discover everything I was meant to learn from this humorous and witty tale about learning who you are and how to let others join in the adventure. The Scottish highlands come alive in this story of connection and belonging. With such amazing detail, I could feel the winds, smell the heather, and hear the rains falling on the castle. It set the perfect background for the story to unfold and add another level of reality to the book.
The characters were so realistic and detailed. I felt like I was meeting up with friends from down the road. They pulled me into the story with the quirky mishaps, confusing emotions, and how they learned together how to listen to God and see each other for who they really are. And not only each other but how to see themselves the way others do and not through the twisted view of themselves. It was so easy to connect with Katie and how she wanted to tell all the stories people shared with her. How she took the mis-steps and accidents thrown into her path to tell a humorous story and show how wonderful places can be. I loved how Pepper Basham was able to show the heart behind the words with Katie. And the romance that sizzled between her and the Scot, perfect!
This book quickly and fully pulled me in and left the story hanging on well after the last page was finished. I loved how the story finished, the only sad part was having to say goodbye to this new group of friends. Pepper Basham has quickly become a must read author for me. With a perfect balance between romance, life, and faith each book is better than the last. I am already excited for the next book! Don't miss out on this entertaining trip! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A book I could not put down. I couldn’t stop laughing at some of the banter between characters. The family dynamic within the book was great. The description of Scotland made me feel as if I was there. I would recommend this book to friends. This author is an autobuy for me.
I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an opportunity to provide feedback. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

MISS ADVENTURE’S GREATEST ADVENTURE!
“When you know you’re loved, it changes everything.”
Katie Campbell is a popular travel writer. She travels all over the world telling other people’s stories to escape coming to grips with her own story. Since she is known for her willingness to try anything new in any country, she has become known as “Miss Adventure.” However, her good intentions often go awry and quickly become “misadventures.” At least Katie is a good sport and can laugh at herself.
Katie’s latest assignment is a dream come true. She is spending three weeks in Scotland, immersed in an Edwardian experience. The possibilities for misadventures are endless in this situation! The first situation is wardrobe. Katie is not average in height, and none of the Edwardian costumes come remotely close to fitting her. She looks ridiculous, and it makes her feel silly, too. The other participants in the Edwardian experience are wild cards and people Katies has nothing in common with. The situation is looking grim until she meets an authentic Scotsman.
Graeme MacKerrow had no intention of hanging out at his ancestral home during the Edwardian experience but was offered a nice fee for playing the Butler. Soon, he is paired with Katie in dancing, and sparks start to fly. As they continue spending more time together and get to know each other, they realize that they have far more in common than they do differences. Also, they both crave to be loved and understand the saying, “When you know you’re loved, it changes everything.” Graeme’s family accepts Katie as if she were their own. What do they do about living on the other side of the world from each other? Katie and Graeme have seen the effect that knowing and believing “love lingers long” can and will have on a relationship by looking at Graeme’s parents’ and grandparents’ relationships. You will want to read this book to discover the stunning conclusion that author Pepper Basham has in store!!
Thomas Nelson and NetGalley provided me with a complimentary copy of this book. However, my opinions are entirely my own and uninfluence.

Me. I like it Scot.
This romp through Scotland was utterly delightful. The characters were relatable and loveable, especially the two main characters. I relate to Katie's wanderlust and clumsiness and easily fell for Graeme's good heart and strong arms. I think I highlighted at least three dozen passages. Some places, some stories, some books just connect to you on a soul-deep level and Some Like It Scot was that kind of book for me.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy to review. My opinions are purely my own, and I was not required to leave a positive review.

I could re-read this story for the third time right now and enjoy it just as much as I did the first time. The book is one of my all-time favorite books. Basham has captured the beauty of Scotland and the unique culture. She vividly describes the scenery so that you can see the lushness of the countryside and the softness of the mist hovering on the mountains. Katie’s accident proneness created many a laugh and provides ample opportunities for rescue by the grumpy, but lovable, Graeme. Graeme’s delicious accent and belly-laugh inducing sayings were so delightful. If you’re like me, you’ll be laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next, especially when little Lachlan is in the scene. One of the loveliest sayings in the book is “love lingers long.” I believe the sweetness of this story will linger long with you. I’d give it a million stars if I could.

Katie Campbell is a travel writer who has found herself in Scotland about to immerse herself into an Edwardian experience to relate to her blog followers. The tale is filled with kooky characters and swoony Scottish carpenters...ahem Graeme - painted as the perfect Scottish hero yet not. While Katie finds herself in one hilarious mishap after another, Graeme is there to get her out of every scrape. She is tall and awkward, but that fits right in with Graeme and his family.
As my first time reading Pepper Basham, I wonder why I've never read her before. This is the type of tale I absolutely love to get lost in! Throw in the setting of Scotland and it's dang near perfect. There is chemistry galore, laughs, and all the good feels. Definitely is a novel I did not want to end. I need more of Basham's tales!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for the ARC. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Basham hits her stride in her latest rom-com offering!
I feel like there's so much I could say about this book, but I'll try to keep it brief. It's super cute. Like, SUPER cute. It has so much heart. These characters are not just existing to get together. They have real issues and things to work through, but they do the hard work of facing them and growing. And in typical Pepper Basham fashion, there's a whole list of characters that felt like family by the final page.
And the romance? My word. Graeme is such a grump until he's not, and I'm a sucker for it, okay? And it all just unfolds beautifully and it was just super cute. Do yourself a favor and go read this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. All expressed opinions belong to me.

Do you like books that are funny? Do you like books that have heart? How about ones with faith and romance? Some Like it Scot, by Pepper Basham, has all of that and more!
Katie Campbell is a travel writer and podcaster. She is about to embark on a weeks-long Edwardian Experience. Full costume, foods and activities of the times. It's not only going to be a great story, but a chance to check out her ancestral roots.
Graham MacKerrow is a large, unflappable Scotsman. He's determined to save his family home. He loves his family, and he loves quiet. Having a group of strangers underfoot is not at all to his liking.
But what happens when a travel writer whose nickname is "Miss Adventure" (not only because of her travels, but for all the misadventures she gets herself into) literally crashes into his life? How can a hulking homebody and a gal with itchy feet find anything in common? As we all know, with the Lord's help, anything is possible! Both of these characters have emotional burdens to overcome, and I love how the author guides each of them through these burdens. This book will make you laugh out loud one moment and saying, "Awwwww" the next. The title might be "SOME Like it Scot", but I'm confident ALL will enjoy it. Plus it has my favorite, an epilogue!
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Some Like It Scot is Pepper Basham’s latest opposites-attract romantic comedy. While the story takes place in Scotland, the heroine is American. There is no profanity or sex scenes.
28-year-old Katie Campbell is a popular travel writer for a magazine, known as "Miss Adventure.” She had a difficult childhood, and her best memories are of spending time with her Scottish grandparents on their North Carolina farm. Although her grandparents passed away and she inherited their farm, she travels to escape her emotional baggage. Her zest for life, curiosity about other cultures, genuine interest in people’s stories, and zany misfortunes make her popular with readers and her magazine. Her boss, Dave, sends her on a three-week Edwardian experience in Scotland while offering her a promotion to editor.
When Katie arrives in Scotland, she immediately feels her ancestral roots and appreciates the beauty and eccentricity of Scotland. She sees this trip as extended cosplay, since she will be required to wear period costumes, eat traditional foods, and participate in authentic activities. Her first misadventure begins as soon as she arrives at the manor, when she has a run-in with a thieving macaw and a gigantic, grumpy, but handsome Scotsman.
Graeme MacKerrow is a stoic Scotsman who doesn't venture far from his island home. He’s dedicated himself to his family and their ancestral home. He’s nonplussed when a 6’ 1” American lady breaks the stair railing that he spent days restoring. He and Katie continue to have run-ins and fight their mutual attraction. Once they decide that they like each other, they have to figure out how to make a relationship work when they live on different continents.
Some Like It Scot is an enjoyable escapist romance that contains many hilarious scenes. Readers will be enthralled with Katie’s misadventures and root for her to find her happily ever after. The characters are colorful, and the scenes are so clearly depicted, it feels like watching a Hallmark movie. This is definitely a week-end read for all ages.
I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Some Like It Scott is an absolute delight! For a girl with Scottish heritage and a love of folklore and fun words, this book was an absolute smash!
Katie and Graeme's meet cute starts with the most unexpected and hilarious misadventure involving a parrot and a stair railing. Their subsequent meetings follow the same wild adventure that seems to follow Katie wherever she goes. Graeme is the classic grey cloud to Katie's sunshine and yet, there's a shimmer of something eye catching in the surely Scot.
Pepper creates the most genuine relationships to flesh out the hard topics of loss, grief, parents who suffer with mental illnesses and the neglect and harm that is inflicted when those illnesses are left to run amuck. Yet this whole book is infused with hope, with healing and with a beautiful dose of what it looks like to find the right people to call home.
I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more. I will be adding this one to my shelf and I encourage you all to give it a read! It's so very very good!
I was gifted a copy of Some Like It Scott from #netgalley and @thomasnelson and it was my absolute joy to read it! All opinions shared above are my own.

I love Pepper Basham's books. I'm a big historical fiction fan which is how I found her as an author but have branched out to read some of her other style books. Whatever the genre, her books are well written, witty, often humorous, and always engaging. Some Like It Scot was no exception. I was caught up in the storyline immediately. Katie is a quirky and fun and irresistible, Graeme is complex and likeable, and they are joined by many wonderful secondary characters. The plot is not just fluffy but emotional and well paced. I loved the beautiful descriptions of the Scottish countryside and culture. The story is a lighthearted but heartfelt emotional journey and I very much enjoyed the ride.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for the opportunity to read for my honest review.

"I squinted heavenward and sighed. Sometimes I wondered if God created me for comic relief."
From the first page of Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham, I was absolutely hooked by Katie Campbell’s hilarious misadventures and her big, wandering heart. She’s a globe-trotting travel writer with a talent for tripping into chaos—and this time, it’s a three-week Edwardian experience in the Scottish countryside that brings more than just sheep and tea into her life.
Graeme MacKerrow, a rugged, stoic Scot, is the definition of a homebody, fiercely loyal to his family and his land. He wasn’t exactly looking for a six-foot-one American force of nature to crash into his quiet world. But that’s exactly what makes this opposites-attract romance so perfect.
This book had everything I love: cheeky romcom dialogue, a Scottish take on the Austenland concept (yes, please—can someone make this a real thing?), found family elements, a reluctant but lovable hero, and that perfect grumpy/sunshine dynamic. Add in a lightly Christian thread and the deep emotional grounding of characters shaped by love and loss, and this became hands down one of the BEST Pepper Basham books to date.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content/trigger warnings: loss of loved ones (off-page), difficult family expectations after loss, minimal mild innuendo, a handful of religious exclamations, romance – kisses only.

Where do I even begin?!
This was a delightful, endearing, hard to pry my eyeballs away for a single moment type of read. So let's begin my convincing you to read this wonderful book.
Our setting- Scotland. Hello gorgeous rolling hills country side that was so immersive as Pepper Basham wove such lush descriptions to the point I felt like even I grew up there. I am ready to plant some heather flowers in my backyard.
Our main girl- Katie. Sweet, honest, endearing Katie. A travel writer who is known for her misadventures/mishaps as she travels the globe (side-note- as a fellow tall gal, i loved the representation.) We follow Katie on her next job living in a few weeks of Edwardian Immersion Tour which was a riot. Flying pig hearts anyone? As the novel progress we follow her working through where her worth is and where she belongs. Heart wrenching and SO HONEST. WE LOVE KATIE GIRL. “Sometimes home is a place. Sometimes it’s a person. Sometimes it’s both.”
Our main guy- Graeme. Is knight is shining kilt a thing? Oh, how real this sweet grouchy man was. Endearing. thoughtful, competent. We follow him as we deals with grief and change as his life collides with Katie's. Their meet cute was "chef kiss".
Our ensemble cast- Mirren is the real MVP that brought such heart to the story. The book club grannies and family were a great addition to show the power of community in someones life. We need each other y'all.
The writing- the perfect amount of humor and banter. The inner monologues were hilarious. I laughed soooooo much.
The faith aspects- so real and so moving. "It's not about your hold on God. It's about His hold on you."
The romance- swoon-worthy and sweet. "I want you to belong with me. To rely on me to catch you"
Now I hopefully have convinced you. If you want a laugh out loud romcom with heart check this out!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
This book was just pure fun with a layer of deeper emotional heart mixed in. Katie is a travel writer who writes about her misadventures that seem to follow her wherever she goes. While she loves her life of seeing different places, her heart is secretly longing for a place she can call home. Graeme is the grumpy "hot Scott" who is trying to save his family homestead by temporarily renting the home to someone who is using it for "an Edwardian experience." The premise was original, great Scottish location, quirky characters, and adorable slow burn romance with a couple who totally deserved a happily ever after. Funny over the top moments with just the right amount of sweetness. I smiled so much throughout the book!
5 stars

What a treat! I feel like I’ve been on a glorious vacation to enjoy the wild, raw beauty of the Isle of Mull, Scotland with Katie Campbell, the female main character, as my travel guide. Katie, a 6’1” American redhead with Scottish roots, has been globe-trotting for years and writing of her adventures for a magazine, social media and her blog. She has earned her moniker as Miss Adventure (misadventure) because she is known for facing with good humor the many faux pas that have come her way. Thanks to one of those moments of calamity, she met Graeme, the hot Scot referred to by the book title, when she literally fell into his arms. This story is very character-driven and I love the way the author slowly peeled back the layers to reveal the true hearts of each of the main characters in this grumpy/sunshine rom com with a dash of faith-based wisdom. Graeme’s mother, Mirren, his nephew, Lachlan, and his brothers were side characters that I fell in love with and hope to meet again in other stories (pretty please). I laughed, cried, got caught up in the romance, and found a little taste of home that I would love to visit again. Highly recommend! I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.

This is my first book by Pepper, and it won’t be my last!
Katie is running from life by being Misadventure, the travel writer. Graeme is determined to be the best uncle and keep his family together. When they both end up being a part of an Edwardian experience, things get complicated and hysterical (Think Austenland in Scotland with Edwardian dress.)
"Dancing with Katie Campbell fed my dreams. Bantering with her across the kitchen table fed my heart."
I adored the characters and how much I connected with them. They feel like people you know. Maybe it’s just my Scottish heritage, but I was here for it! Katie and Graeme are witty, kind and lovable as were all the side characters. I loved everything, the sheep, the puffins, Wedge, the quilting ladies, the hills, the small town, the rain, the dancing and the highland cow. 🙂
“I want to spend as much time with you as I can Katie, if you fancy spending time with me.”
“I’ve been wandering a long time, trying to find out where I belonged, but I’ve never felt so much at home as when I’m with you.”

I really enjoyed reading Some Like it Scot! It is such a sweet romance with sizzle whenever the leads are together! Humorous at times and exciting! The author really immerses us into the world of Scotland. With its beautiful scenery, traditions and folklore! Katie travels the world telling others of her adventures (and misadventures) through her work as a travel writer! Then she literally falls all over her ‘hot Scot’. This grumpy sunshine romance is adorable and swoon worthy! The audiobook has the perfect narration for all those Scottish brogues. I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in trade for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own.

In Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham, Katie Campbell, also known as Miss Adventure, is a travel writer who boasts that she “actually write[s] well enough to pay my bills.” She is known for her missteps and misadventures as she travels, writes, takes photographs, and shares to the world via her podcast; but changes seem to be on the horizon for Katie.
In this novel, Katie makes the long journey to her family’s native Scotland to participate in an authentic Edwardian Experience at Craighill House as an influencer. Unfortunately, the minute she steps through the doors, her characteristic misadventures begin with an accident involving stoic local, Graeme. Things go from bad to worse as she encounters one problem after another and cannot seem to escape grumpy Graeme. But does she want to? Might everything in her world be turned upside down if she lets go and gives Graeme a chance?
This novel was such an enjoyable read and was full of delightful Scottish phrases and descriptions of the landscape that made me feel like I had really escaped into the Scottish countryside each time I opened the book. The characters are realistic, funny, and truly loveable. This one is a winner!
If you have enjoyed any of Pepper Basham’s past novels such as Authentically Izzy, Positively Penelope, or Loyally Luke, I think you will absolutely fall in love with Some Like It Scot!
Many thanks to Pepper Basham, Thomas Nelson, and NetGalley for an ARC copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

** “I didn’t have to find weird. It always seemed to find me.” **
Pepper Basham once again delivers a fun, sweet and quirky romance with “Some Like It Scot.”
Travel writer Katie Campbell is an accident waiting to happen, which has allowed her to develop her online persona Miss Adventure. Taking advantage of her natural clumsiness and ability to find trouble, she travels the world sharing her adventures and misadventures with the world.
So when she finds herself covering an Edwardian Experience in Scotland, she’s ready to see what the experience will bring her … and what troubles she’ll find.
Graeme MacKerrow and his family are renting out their ancestral home, Craighill House, to the Lennox family for the Edwardian venture. But when the quirky red-headed American writer quite literally falls in his lap, he finds himself intrigued. How will Katie change his life’s trajectory?
As the two find their paths continually crossing, the attraction between them grows. Can they overcome past losses and grief, as well as two completely different lifestyles, to build a relationship?
As usual, Basham creates delightfully quirky and flawed characters, as well as including some great themes, like you can convince yourself you’re fine, when you aren’t really; we all bring our own stories to life; having an inexplicable longing to linger and tarry; beauty inspires us; overcoming grief; and what is it that makes a home — people or places.
Five stars out of five.
Thomas Nelson provided this complimentary copy through NetGalley for my honest, unbiased review.

This is my second book by Pepper Basham’s and I can’t wait to read more.
This book is so fun. So full of heart and humor and a swoony Scotsman.
Katie is absolutely adorable. I love that she was travel writer. She’s in Scotland for an Edwardian experience to share with her followers. (Oh my goodness, so many funny moments from that and Katie’s “misadventures”.) I love how Katie immersed herself into Craighill and Scotland. It makes me want to visit. The author did a fantastic job with the setting and characters. I loved the town and the knitting ladies. Lachlan (he was adorable. I loved his and Katie’s sweet relationship) and Graeme’s mum were also wonderful.
Graeme’s painful past was enduring. And Katie’s losses and disappointments were hard too. Each of them finding what they needed in each other was wonderful.
Once Katie broke through Graeme the grumpy beast, their conversations were so lovely. But the ones before that were just as good too. Graeme and Katie had amazing back and forth banter. The dual POV showed the inner thoughts of each so well.
I loved the shout out to Jaime Jo Wright!
And wow that kiss! The ending, it was simply perfect. (The author’s note also tugged at my heart.)
I received a NetGalley link from the publisher. And a NetGalley approval from the publisher for the audio book. All views are my own.

"Sometimes home is a place. Sometimes it's a person. Sometimes it's both."
Romance, humor, faith, and emotional depth combine to create an unforgettable read.
On the surface this is a romcom full of witty banter, romance, hilarious misadventures, and unforgettable characters...but look deeper and you'll find this story is beautiful, layered, healing, and inspirational.
I absolutely fell in love with Scotland, Katie, Graeme, and the whole MacKerrow clan!
Pepper Basham has such an electric way with words. Her ability to draw emotion and hold you captive and then release it at just the right moment with a look, a touch, or a witty retort is everything! I get completely lost in her books, in the worlds she creates and the characters she breathes life into.
I had the opportunity the listen to the audiobook after reading the book and let me just say...the narrators are phenomenal! The accents, the emotion, the pacing, the way they truly brought the story to life, all combined to create an excellent listening experience.
I highly recommend this book in whichever format you prefer!

Upbeat rom-com, set in the rolling hills of Scotland, with great situational comedy, plenty of heart, and touches of faith.
Katie Campbell is a "Miss Adventure"-ing travel writer, sent on assignment to check out a Edwardian living experience in the stunning countryside of Scotland. Used to never staying one place too long, Katie doesn't expect Scotland to slowly carve its way into her heart. She is a talented writer, and often feels out of place or in the way. I admired Graeme as a devoted son and father-figure, he also has many creative talents of his own. Gruff on the outside, he has a genuine heart of gold.
Heartwarming, filled with plenty of swoon-worthy moments, wit, and situational humor. An irresistible read, highly enjoyable, with a full cast of wonderful characters. I definitely raced through this one far faster than I wanted (I had plans to savor it), but I was hooked. The Scottish accents, and great interactions pulled me in. A wonderful read from beginning to end!

With no anchor at home following the deaths of her grandparents, Katie travels the world, never stopping anywhere long enough to get attached - she loves her job as travel writer, and it's safer that way. This three-week Edwardian Experience in Scotland will be the longest she's stayed anywhere for a long time. But it isn't long before she starts to wonder whether it will be too short. Despite her avoidance of attachments, something about both the place and the people has been so welcoming and accepting that it's like the home she's never really known. But with years of experience of misadventures, often ending badly for someone, the idea that anyone would want her for herself, let alone be willing to sign up for a lifetime of saving her life and inadvertently endangering his own, is incomprehensible. Graeme has been struggling since the death of his sister, closely followed by being dumped by his fiancee, and the idea of leaving Mull is altogether off the cards. So an attraction to a travel writer is clearly idiotic - if only he could convince his heart of it. Can this impossible couple overcome the baggage of their past to form a future together?
A delightful, hilarious but also deeply touching story that grabbed my attention from the start and held it through each twist and turn until I almost reluctantly reached the very satisfying end. I say 'almost reluctantly' because while I was thrilled to see Katie and Graeme get their long-awaited happy ending, I was also sorry to say goodbye to either of them, or indeed to Mull. Katie's mishaps were amusing (though less so when it became clear how much they shaped her idea of herself), but I actually particularly liked the way that previous mishaps are hinted at in passing, leaving room for so much imagination... For the rest, the story holds various quirky characters, including a mild villain who gets what he deserves, a wonderfully welcoming family, people who are willing to speak the truth in love even when it hurts, main characters I really cared about, an inspirational message and the aforementioned amusing mishaps. Best of all, though, there are people who see the best in each other and build each other up when they're struggling. Both Katie and Graeme have baggage holding them back, and it's inspiring to see them deal with it rather than keeping on trying to bury it or run away. All in all, a great read that I can imagine coming back to reread multiple times. Highly recommended.

This was such a fun romcom. I loved the Scottish vibes/setting and the quirkiness of the FMC. A darling love story with unique elements.

“A few fairies here, a mermaid there, occasional book club grannies brewing up trouble with magic tea.”
When travel writer Katie Campbell ventures into an Austen-era experience in Scotland, she doesn’t actually see any fairies or mermaids—though she sometimes wonders if she is a victim of their mischief! But there are meddlesome grannies armed with books and knitting and their own magically healing kind of love. Which Katie—who famously lives up to her moniker of Miss Adventure—could definitely use.
Attacked by a thieving macaw, a maniacal bicyclist, and a vengeful competitor, Katie finds herself being rescued again and again by a grumpy Scot. Might her reluctant rescuer be the one to help her find her way home . . . to him?
Some Like It Scot is brimming with romance, hope, and the daring to give life after grief another chance. I laughed out loud, cringed with embarrassment, and dabbed away the occasional tear or two. Readers, you’re going to love this one!
