Over the years Anthony Peterson has amassed a fortune, numerous properties, a trophy wife and a reputation for ruthless business dealings. He is a man who is used to getting his own way.
But when Peterson wakes to find himself locked in a metal shipping container, with only a cell phone and twenty-four hours of air left, he begins to unravel.
Desperate to escape, Peterson soon learns that there is more to the container than he first realised. And when the kidnappers call and demand ten million dollars, while threatening to murder and rape his beautiful wife if he doesn’t comply, Peterson must fight to meet their impossible terms or face being left to die alone in the darkness.
Why has Peterson been targeted?
Who are those responsible for his kidnap?
And can Peterson make out of the container alive?

Every once in a while, a book comes along and literally knocks you off your feet and this is exactly what [Cargo] did. From the book description I knew the author was going to take me on a thrilling journey but didn’t realise just how many thrills were in store for me.
The story is set over the course of twenty four hours which gave the story more urgency and set the pace fast. From picking the book up I literally could not put it down and read it in one day.
I was as desperate to know as Peterson himself, why the kidnappers would choose him above many other rich people. You could be mistaken in thinking that a story about a man locked up in a container couldn’t possibly be that thrilling, but boy it has to be one of the most thrilling as well as chilling reads I’ve read in a while!
The least you know about this story the better before heading into it. It is very much a race against time which literally had me on the edge of my seat and left me feeling on a high as I had been so invested in Peterson and what was happening to him and it didn’t disappoint one little bit.

Now you might read the synopsis of this book and think,Won't that get a bit boring?,it's just about a bloke who is locked in a storage container.Well believe me,there is no way this book can be described as boring.Set over twenty four hours, It's a fast paced, action packed, thrill ride from start to finish.Gripping, nail biting, action packed with a large amount of humour thrown in for good measure.I loved the banter between the police officers and the chapters featuring Peterson's disaster prone assistant Tom Pocase. The rest of the characters including our protagonist Anthony Peterson where a multi layered, realistic bunch of personalities, some likeable, some very very unlikable.
I absolutely loved this fast paced, roller coaster ride and would have give it far more than five stars if I could.I look forward to hopefully reading more books by this author in the future.
Highly recommended to fans of books written by Richard Parker,Simon Kernick and Andrew Gross.
Wow, what can I say. This book had me gripped from the very start. After reading the description of this book I had high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed.
The book is set over 24 hours whilst Anthony Peterson is being held hostage in a metal shipping container. He is told he has enough oxygen to survive for 24 hours and the kidnappers want $10million ransom otherwise he will be left to die. The added twist for Anthony is that they also have his wife and are threatening to kill her too.
What will he do ? Why have they targeted Anthony ? Is he really the good man he makes out he is ?
Anthony can only trust one man to help him, his ever faithful assistant, Tom Pocase. I absolutely loved all the twists and turns with Tom’s character and I really didn’t have a clue what he was going to get up to next.
A lot of the story takes place in phone calls, as this is the only way that Anthony can communicate and try and save himself, as well as his wife.
I have to admit I loved this book and it definitely lived up to my expectations. It was very fast paced and I really didn’t know how this was going to end. Some parts were a little gory so be prepared but it just adds to the tension and thrill of the book.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast-paced thriller/mystery.

It’s a fast pace read and sure makes me wonder what’s going to happen to Anthony Peterson. Will he make it? Will he be alive or dead? Imagine yourself being locked up with 24 hours to live and have to pay 10 million dollars in ransom for you and your wife to survive. It’s crazy, it’s impossible and yet it happened. The worst part is along the way, nothing comes cheap or free. Every help has it cost and it’s expensive as hell. Not to mention, his past is haunting back. Each one of them seems to taunt him, remembering what a bad guy he is until in the end, he surrenders and admit that he’s indeed evil.
It’s common knowledge that rich people don’t make the Forbes list by playing clean. This book is trying to picture that. Although it’s fiction, but I think it represent the truth. Love how the story is running throughout the chapters and each of them has a surprise. It sure is an edge of the seat thriller. The plot is not too twisty but still interesting. There sure is a lot of action going on in this book.
Characters…well, not the greatest I could say. On the Anthony Peterson part, he’s a complete egotistical, selfish, self centered character. Tom Pocase is similar to him and worst. The mercenaries are completely sick in the head. Not to mention the police force give the most unprofessional dialogues I’ve ever read in all the thriller/crime books. So, the characters are pictured like losers which I find it quite comical. But it’s only fitting, since this is more like a story of the criminal world.
The end is a bit confusing actually. No real explanation on who did the kidnapping and the end of Anthony Peterson is in questions marks. So, I’m not too keen on the end but the whole story is enough to make me hooked up with this book for 3 days.
Recommend for those who like a fast paced, lots of action, unimaginable situations read. There are some reference to extreme violence, mental illness and blood spilled.
