Description

Uncover the real truth behind mass media accounts of how they died, and learn the reason for their murders.

These five deaths stopped the whole world in its tracks. We all famously recall where we were and what we were doing when JFK was assassinated, as well as the moments Elvis, Princess Diana, and Michael Jackson died. As for Marilyn Monroe, the candle flickered out long ago, but only now can the truth be told about how—and why—she died.

After combing through thousands of recently declassified FBI files and interviewing key witnesses, crime analysts, and forensic experts during years of research, investigative writer David Gardner has unearthed new information that will transform the way we look at these iconic tragedies that have long fascinated and intrigued the general public. Murder, Lies, and Cover-Ups reveals that Elvis Presley died not as a self-obsessed caricature but as a genuine hero who may have signed his death warrant going undercover for the FBI; how Marilyn Monroe's secret affairs with JFK and his brother, Robert, left her in the crosshairs of a lethal conspiracy; why Princess Diana's death was no accident; who ordered President John F. Kennedy's assassination; and how on three occasions Michael Jackson “died” of painkiller drug overdoses in the months before his death.

In the wake of new evidence and testimonies, Murder, Lies, and Cover-Ups provides many of the answers that have been elusive for so long, while explaining what it was about these enduring legends that made their legacies burn so bright.

  • Conspiracy theories of celebrity deaths are consistently popular. Legends is an investigative account that delves into the political deaths of JFK and Princess Diana and the Hollywood deaths of Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley.
  • The deaths of these five figures remain the subject of intense media speculation over the years, and fans remain intensely loyal and determined to know why the lives of their idols were brought to an all-too-sudden end.

I love a good conspiracy theory just like anyone else out there and this book definitely came through for me. I know that a lot of people will complain that these are some of the biggest cases that are surrounded by theories and that they have read it all before. In my opinion, you can always learn something new. That is just what happened when I read this book. I learned a few new things and it was nice to see someone else's take on these cases. The book was very well put together and it gave me a few new things to think about.

Jonhn F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. All are stars in there own right. Of the five three had some connection to the Mafia. One had great potential to bring the sales of arms and other explosives to a halt. Rendering the cost of millions if not billions of dollars. And one was a celebrity that was belobed of his time, singer and entertainer. He put his life, his health, in the hands of professionals and friends, that ended in his demise.
These five iconic legends sadly passed from our lives, each with their own secrets. This Author, through investigation has brought to us a story of each one. Was it murder. Well written, fact-filled, intriguing, makes you stop and think.

Before I start, let me introduce myself. My name is Kat, and I am a gossip wh*re. I love a good scandal - it comes from living in a small, crowded town. If there was a rumor, certain members of my family were known to feed the flames, especially if it was a good one. That being said, I'll say it loud and proud: I LOVED THIS BOOK.

We start with Marilyn, known by millions, loved by damn near that many. We follow with JFK, the natural follower (the two now connected in print as in life). We continue the trail with the King of rock n roll, Elvis himself. Then Princess Di, loved the world over; then we close with the King of Pop, Mr. Michael Jackson. This book had a clear pattern: the known facts, followed by the speculation. It doesn't lean one way or the other; it (mostly) stays right on track and tells you almost everything you want to know. It was well written, but a little hard to follow at some points, which is why it only gets 4/5. But if you like gossip and speculation about famous people, this is the book for you. I would especially recommend it for Marilyn and/or JFK fans.
