Description
This Buzz Books Monthly is jammed with excerpts of four June debuts, along with three novels.
Two novels are by British authors Allison Pearson and Katy Regan. Pearson’s follow up to I Don’t Know How She Does It is the comical How Hard Can It Be? while Little Big Love is Regan’s US debut. In The Lost Vintage, travel and food writer Ann Mah describes a woman who returns to her family’s ancestral vineyard in Burgundy and unexpectedly uncovers a lost diary, an unknown relative, and a secret her family has been keeping since World War II.
Among debuts, Jane Rosenberg LaForge’s The Hawkman: A Fairy Tale of the Great War is an adaptation of a classic myth. James McLaughlin’s Bearskin is about a caretaker for a remote forest preserve in Virginia who tries to catch the poachers who are killing the bears under his watch.
In the subtly science fiction plot of Tell The Machine Goodnight by Katie Williams, the protagonist’s job is to make people happy. Spencer Wise’s first novel The Emperor of Shoes is set in a remote village in China, where a young American struggles with discovering corruption in his father’s shoe factory.

Was hoping for more to-be-read books but I was already familiar with these. Perfect for someone who hasn't kept up with new books.
Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating i have it.
Perfect resource for book lovers and reviewers with it's release information, spotlights on noteworthy books, excerpts, and links!
Another great Buzz Book! This is such a great tool to use for planning which books to feature on my blog during the upcoming weeks. I love the week by week listing as well as the select excerpts.
This was a useful tool for information on upcoming books. I am always looking for a source of information on upcoming releases.
What a wonderful idea! I loved this collection of book excerpts and reviews for up and coming books. As always, I will be adding a few more books to my never ending "To Be Read" list. If you're one to get a book as soon as it releases, I suggest you download these monthly Buzz Books. Honestly, one of my favourite things about this website.
A huge thank you to NetGalley for sending me a digital copy of this collection in exchange for an honest review. I truly appreciate it!
I love Buzz Books Monthly -- they give me a chance to see what books are going to be published in the coming month as well as providing an excerpt to see if the book is something I would be interested in reading!
This is a great collection of excerpts of upcoming books for the month of June 2018.
It contains an introduction followed by a section with a list of "Extra Attention", "Literary Favorites and Emerging Talents", debut fiction, commercial fiction, and nonfiction titles. Then it has a section of "Week by Week" title releases and at the end some book excerpts that were originally published in Buzz Books 2018: Spring/Summer. I particularly enjoyed the excerpt for LITTLE BIG LOVE by Katy Regan (Berkley).
Overall, a great list of buzzing titles for the month of June 2018.
I always love when these Buzz Books come available. It's an awesome way to be exposed to books you normally wouldn't reach for. It takes you out of your comfort zone. You get to read a few chapters of a book to see if you are going to like it or not. The best part is there is usually a link at the end of each one to click on to request! Brilliant!!
As always,an amazing guide to all books that are coming! I always love to read this as preparation,so I could know what to expect.
Added several new titles to my list! Looking forward to Camille Perri's latest and I'm intrigued by the collaboration between former president Bill Clinton and James Patterson.
June is looking to be a very busy month for new releases. This is a great reference for what's coming out next month. There are so many new releases from authors I already enjoy.
look forward to Buzz Books Monthly and am never disappointed. This is a great resource for learning about what to read as the new books for the month are released. This time read excerpts from good fiction, including the new novel by Allison Pearson. She wrote I Don't Know How She Does It and will now examine midlife issues for her characters. There are also listings of fiction, non-fiction and debuts for June. Take a look and savor your next read.
Always find this monthly preview helpful! Thank you for providing. The excerpts were great and timely.
Publishers Lunch brings out an introduction to upcoming book titles for June 2018. Covers have been added to many of the titles, which is a good selling feature because many of us do judge a book by its cover. The excerpts section has four debuts and three novels. The monthly listings are divided in sections: Extra Attention, Literary Favorites and Emerging Talents, Debut Fiction, Commercial Fiction and Nonfiction as well as a week-by-week listing of upcoming titles. Always a great tool for anyone who is interested in what is new in the world of books.
This pack was great, and included quite a range of books for June. I've now added How Hard Can It Be? and Bearskin to my TBR list.
It's a smaller selection this month, but each and every one of these books looked enticing - my poor tbr list!
This edition of Buzz Books Monthly is rich with titles and reviews for June's upcoming books. This issue also includes several fantastic excerpts! When perusing this issue I had my Goodreads TBR list at the ready. June is definitely going to be an exciting month for book lovers.
Great collection of excerpts to look for in June! I'll be looking to read Buzz Books Monthly every single month!
Another wonderful opportunity to sample upcoming books. In this installment of BuzzBooks, I was intrigued by Ann Mah's The Lost Vintage.
Great summary of June's new books. I really enjoyed the chance to read the book excerpts, particularly as I would not have otherwise tried some of them. Several will definitely be going into my 'to read' pile.
Many thanks to netgalley for the chance to read it.
Thank you! A great resource for me! I appreciate having this available as I plan my June reading! Thank you again!
Excellent, another informative issue. I use Buzz Books Monthlies along with a few other similarly helpful titles. If you haven't tried one of these before what are you waiting for? Such a fantastic resource for book geeks that keeps you on top of all of the quality upcoming releases... AND IT'S FREE!!! Jump right in!
Appreciated as always! Always look forward to Buzz Books Monthly!
Thank you once again to Publishers Lunch.
As always, this is a great preview of the books to come and I'm really excited for many of these books to come out!
This is such an amazing resource for those who love hearing about upcoming books in one place. There is a downside to reading this though...my TBR list grows exponentially each time.
Thank you, NetGalley, for gathering some amazing titles and even excerpts of some wonderful upcoming releases!
One thing I look forward to, even in a reading slump (or especially during a slump!), is the monthly release of Buzz Books. What a fabulous reminder of what I have to look forward to in my TBR, as well as what I should be putting on hold at the library, for the upcoming month. As ever, never disappointed!
This is such a good way to research upcoming releases and find out which ones to add to the top of your list! I am so excited for some of these soon to be released books!
Thanks PublishersLunch for doing this monthly. I love seeing what new books are coming out in the month and getting to read a few snippets so that I can base my book purchase on what i want to read. Always hidden gems within these titles
As always with Buzz Books installments I really liked the June one. I found some very good book recommendations and new releases that I am excited for.
It's been a few months since I downloaded a Buzz Books monthly so today I downloaded June's and have spent most of the day reading the excerpts.
I live in the UK so I have already read and reviewed Allison Pearson's How Hard Can it Be? It's a real treat and made me laugh out loud and cry in equal measure. Kate is not without her problems: a big birthday looming (50), approaching menopause, two teenagers, a house badly in need of fixing up, a drop-out husband going through a mid life crisis, ageing parents. This once successful fund manager needs to get back into the workplace to support her family financially but has to knock a few years off her real age to have any chance of a job. It's brilliantly written and very funny. Recommended.
I often find myself requesting titles by debut authors from NetGalley. I wish I had spotted The Emperor of Shoes by Spencer Wise on NetGalley UK and requested it before it was archived. I liked the excerpt and wanted more! I'll just have to look out for it and buy it when available.
The other book that I think I would like is Little Big Love. I think this has been published in the UK with the title Little Big Man. So that's another one on my wish list!
Now to work my way through the Fall/Winter 2018.
Buzz Books monthly is a wonderfully helpful look at what's being published in the coming month and what books are likely to be of most interest to readers.
Great excerpts, as always! I look forward to these every month. I'm always able to find books to add to my "to-read" list that I wouldn't have otherwise heard about.
And another Buzz Book, I can't believe it! I love those!!! So many new titles to come, so many I want to read and so many I already have on my shelf!!!
It's driving me crazy and happy at the same time! I want to read them all, well most of them!
This buzz book is 148 page long, many summaries, full pages to get you hooked!
New authors, famous authors, fiction and non fiction, debut fiction, commercial fiction... everything in detail so you can choose what to read next!
"Bring me back" is already on my shelf, I can't wait to read it soon!
Another fantastic Buzz Books roundup! Appreciate the quick reference for upcoming launches including debut and small / mid press titles.
A great look at the books for June Put a bunch on my TBR shelf It is the first time I used this monthly guide. I was extremely impressed and decided to download a second one
This is a wonderful resource for many of the upcoming books. It includes some great samples of some books too.
As a picky reader, samplers are probably nor for me, though they might work for you. Two of the sampled books are ones that I might read in hardcover, How Hard Can It Be and Tell the Machine Goodnight, so for that, I thank netgalley for the excepts.
I really love these buzz books excerpts. My favorite thing about NetGalley is being able to see these lists of upcoming reads and being able to read a chapter or two of selected books.
Netgalley regularly these neat little books that are a true blessing to a Greedy Reader such as myself. This one covers the Book Expo America show where many galleys of upcoming titles are there to nab if you can get yourself to Javits Center in New York (when is it going to come back to LA, I ask you?) There are excerpts from new titles each month. Really nice and a great place to go to find what's coming up for you to lust after.
These Buzz Book Monthly samplers are extremely helpful to me as a bookseller. Thanks to Publishers Lunch.
Awesome resource for finding new books! I really enjoyed the excerpts from the books as well as a highlighted list of books coming out this year.
