She Sheds Style by Erika Kotite is a great book of ideas, building instructions, and decorating ideas for a variety of themed she sheds. Wonderful color photos throughout and step by step instructions have photos, too. Very pretty and functional ideas.
This book should come with a warning.
But it doesn't so I'm going to give you a few !
Be warned, after reading this book you will NEED a she shed. If you do not have the space or in fact a garden, you will NEED to move house. You will also NEED to furnish, paint and lay flooring with a strong possibility of NEEDING a decorative window and a drop down bar.
If you don't craft, write or garden you will NEED to start just so you can justify said she shed.
If you have any more questions about the wonderful photos in this book, or the fabulous examples of she sheds, colour wheels or brilliant guides on how to create and design a perfect she shed then just ask until then I'll be down the garden measuring up .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Beautiful book. I have spent hours reading this and looking at the wonderful photos. I know that I will spend more hours looking at it again. There are so many design ideas and instructions on how to do some projects yourself. Really well put together and really well thought out. There are some wonderful ideas for interiors that I will be trying to work out how to do myself.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
How fun is this? So many she shed styles to explore both inside and outside. I love the whole she shed movement and the concept of a 'room of ones own', especially for women. I hope to have one of my own and maybe I'll move right in.
Don't be turned off by the name of this book, She Sheds are the feminization of Man Caves, and can be so cool that you would never want to go back into the main house again. And even if you hate the idea of girly-girl stuff, some of these sheds make great reading nooks, or cool places just to have a "room of ones own" as Virginia Wolfe said we should all have.
Although the plans and crafts in this book don't tell you how to build from scratch, they do offer plans on how to argument the kits that come out, as well as how to do patterns on your floor, or set up a desk, or shelving situation.

The pictures are shed porn, and while you may have thought, going in, that this was something you never wanted, by the end of the book, you will have wanted to at least get out in the yard, and look for a place for your future "she shed" (but it is ok if you just call it a shed, so it doesn't sound like a female super hero.)
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This book makes me so jealous, we have just moved house, and I had to leave my wonderful studio behind. Having read this book and drooled over all the wonderful photographs, picked up on some fabulous ideas, I am ready to build one - unfortunately I am probably not able, but the secret builder in me certainly wants to. - and you will too when you see these fabulous multi function little shed.
They are what every women needs at the end of the garden, decorated by her hand and a place to get away from it all. This is what the doctor ordered.
I love this book, I really is easy to follow with ideas and inspiration. There are some information on building some features but really not enough for one to tackle alone from scratch - but if you already have a shed or garage in your garden there are wonders you can do with it to make you your own with the ideas and inspiration from this book.
I really liked this book. It was bright and colourful, with lots of simple craft ideas, which could be put into a She Shed or in a child’s bedroom. Or even in the main part of a home.. There are a number of elements I will be having a go at myself.
Great read. Had lots to learn. Lots of wonderful ideas. Lots of pictures that helps too. It’s definitely a thing more and more people are getting into

As a new trendy concept, the sheds are the mom garage space. Many women in America are adopting the trends to use Sheds as an escape and unique personal place to recover energies or doing any inspirational activity. Erika explains the decoration concepts including the chromatic circle, hanging garden and more. The book is illustrated by wonderful pictures of existing Sheds. A masterpiece!
This book is really interesting. I liked exploring different styles of sheds, some more netral colored and some more in bohemian and artsy styles. Some DIY are explainde and it gives a great inspiration book for people looking to build a shed.
I adore She Sheds. I've wanted one for a very long time. This book concentrates not only on the inside of a She Shed, but also on the outside, the surroundings, the ceilings, the furniture, the floors,... Wonderful.
There are a lot of ideas in this book, like the faux brick floor, the hanging gardens, that I'll certainly try to recreate, though not in a shed, but in the rooms of my home.
Are you dreaming of having a She Shed? I am! I browse Pinterest like a hunting lioness!
This book goes beyond Pinterest and gives you full ideas and info.

I highly recommend this book! Keep dreaming and maybe one day we will all have our She Sheds!
In a follow-up to her earlier work (She Sheds-A Room Of Your Own), Kotite expands on the idea of "She Sheds". Think a classier, more feminine take on the "Man Cave".
The author offers tips and ideas on how to personalize your space to make it fit your own style. She tells you how to make a kit shed into your dream space. Enhancing the structure, both internally and externally.
The book is loaded with ideas and projects. I think all of the projects are easily constructed, and should easily be able to be done on a weekend.
Where the book really shines is in the photography. If one cannot get inspiration from the fabulous photos, then you never will. They really make the book!
My only issue with the book is that, thanks to the author, I may be losing my catch-all garden shed to my wife, and will be put to work helping her build it out to her own tastes!
As a lady with a she she'd I loved this book. Great ideas that are very much achievable. A good selection of items that you can make yourself as well as design hints and tips.
Beautiful book with fun projects, both big and small. The sheds vary from rustic to whimsical to modern--something for nearly everyone. Oh, to have one's own She Shed!
What lady wouldn’t like to place to call her own? This book shows pictures of different She Shed designs but mainly focuses on the details on the inside and even some outside details such as paver laying, mosaic stepping stones and a neon sign(which I hope to make). Even if you don’t have a She Shed yet, there are several projects and ideas for everyone. Many of the sheds pictured were a little too bold for my taste but I loved the rustic and whitewash looking shed ideas. Ahh! Maybe one day.....
This is a really fabulous, inspirational book if you're dreaming of making your own "she shed" or back yard workshop, sewing space, art studio, garden/potting shed, spare room, writing space or getaway. It's filled with gorgeous photos of "she sheds" of all different styles, from colorful and funky to country cottage. There are also lots of DIY projects for furnishings, floorings, windows, accessories and more, and decorating tips on choosing colors, planning locations, etc. It is truly loaded with gorgeous photos, projects and inspiration.
The only things I didn't like about this book were that it's not very practical for me -- I live in a cold climate where it's snowy in my back yard for more than half the year and I wouldn't have a way to keep the heat above zero without spending a fortune. Also, this is for women with lots of time and a fair chunk of money to make these spaces. It's all just daydreaming for me.
That said, there were a lot of projects that inspired me for my real home and some that I thought of recommending for my oldest child, who just bought a starter house for $4,000 (yes, really!) that's barely bigger than a shed. :)
If you're looking to create your own little getaway, this book will give you all the tools to do it and get you excited to begin. If you're just at the daydreaming stage, it'll still make you happy to flip through. Highly recommended.
I was able to view a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
This book is a response to the first She Sheds book. The first book shares the idea of the She Sheds as a response to the very popular "Man Cave".
It proposes an idea for women to also have their own space for relaxation, creativity and more.
The She Sheds Style book, adds up on this idea, and even moves it forward from just a space to lounge or store craft supplies, to showing you that you can actually make this space beautifully decorated.
The first couple of chapters are a collection of introductions to the idea, and also a showcase of real people's she sheds.
The author shares these photos with small comentaries and critiques.
Then the book starts to show actual step by step projects, including list of materials and advice for these She Sheds projects.
There is a great variety of projects, from ideas to chose you decorating style, to painting, crafting and more.
All the DIY projects presented in this book are oriented to enhance and adorn you She Shed, but many of them can certainly be applied to decorating your home as well.
In conclusion, this book is a well roundup resource of inspiration, advice and DIY projects to help you bring your own style and decor to life and make your She Shed space perfect for your own needs and taste.
In addition to an abundance of inspiring photographs, this book offers an introductory course to the architectural and interior design elements to consider in planning a she shed. It is easy to understand, and the instructions for the various projects provide all the necessary details. Even if you aren't planning to create a she shed, much of the information can be incorporated in other decorating projects. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to preview this book.
Leave it out as a coffee table book and let your visitors draw inspiration from all these glorious sheds. Fullt visual with a wide range of styles for you to raw from with mini projects and ideas to enhance your existing space.
The photography in this book really shines. I won't lie - I have wanted a she shed for a while now and this book is chock full of wonderful, beautiful ideas. The projects themselves seem pretty straightforward for someone who is just a little handy. I definitely think that over a few weekends you could easily adapt a basic shed kit into something wonderful. This is a great resource for someone looking to create your own personalized space.
Thanks to NetGalley for a advanced peek at this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
She Shed Style
by Erika Kotite
A fantastic book all for woman; dedicated to spaces just for woman, a place for them to get away for the mundane details of everyday life. Men have had their man caves, game rooms and what-have-you room. It's time for women to have a space of their own, and not another place to do some type of work; but, a place to call our own. A place that is cozy, pretty, decorated in a style for the woman that owns it, to do with it likes to do, just for her; weather it is to: read or write, knit, crochet, embroidery, needlepoint, sew or even to give her a place to grow plants. Giving a woman a space to call her own, give her a feeling of worth; for all the things she does for her family. A place to breath fresh air, see and feel the sunlight, or whatever she likes to do.
In Ms. Kotie book “She Shed Style”, she shares ideas; that I hope will shed some light and inspire more sheds to get converted in to a She Shed. A book that is not only bold; but, beautiful, and gorgeously inspirations that, it is possible to create that space just right for the other side of life, a woman’s space. I give this book two-thumbs up and five-stars. A must have for all woman, for if nothing else; a dream book of a place of possibilities.
I'm an avid crafter who has my supplies in every room of my house in any bin or bag that will hold them. I've been dreaming of a she shed for awhile. I'd seen some completed projects in various magazines and publications but had not found anything that fit my needs and style, much less my budget. This book is full of ideas and guidance that will help you design any size/type of she shed you'd like. I not only found many great ideas, I used them to work up a plan that my husband has now agreed to build for me! Thank you, Erika Kotite!
She Sheds Style by Erika Kotite is a wonderful book full of inspiration to create you own personal space within a shed with style. Full of beautiful photography showcasing sheds re-purposed into sewing rooms, guest rooms, potting sheds, quiet reading spaces, and so much more. There are numerous fun projects through out that you can do to achieve the same look or style in your own shed, or any room for that matter. This book definitely sheds a whole new light on sheds. Time to clean out the junk and turn yours in to a private retreat, library, or café, the possibilities are endless!
A different way to look at the old shed in the backyard. Here the author shows many ways to transform them into a more interesting use than just storing tools. I especially like the use of the drop down door to make a table, and the way it can become more of an outdoor space as well. Still though, considering the size of the sheds, and that I live in a northern climate, not sure how much use it would be. The places are small, and some of her design elements, while pretty, take up valuable spacing. Still though, it was fun to look through, and gave me some ideas. Would recommend.
I enjoyed She Shed more then I was expecting. The concept of She Sheds fascinate me but I always wonder if they are really necessary or just a silly trend. However, after looking at the all the beautiful photos of different She Sheds and the purpose it serves I totally get it know. I like alone so I really should need a She Shed I have a whole Domain to my self. My hobbies include writing, reading, and painting. Do you know how often I practice these? Zero! Because when you are in your home you're listening to the washer bing and you're moving it to the dryer. You are looking at dirty dishes. Once I tried to do Yoga in my living room and five minutes later I was vacuuming instead. But, a she shed gives you a little corner away from all that. The different types of She Sheds are inspiring. Some are for gardening, other entertaining, some of cozy spaces away from it all.
This book is great if you have a shed and are looking to spruce it up with a style to be all your own.
I bought a medium size shed a few years back with plans that it would be my garden shed all to only become a place to house my holiday junk and my daughters one day but never happening moving out junk for the past few years and I needed some inspiration so I could work on cleaning it out and creating my garden shed. So, when I noticed this book on Netgalley you know I had to give it a try and it had worked with all of the different styles, colors and simple projects I know this spring I will have my garden shed.
No matter if you looking for craft space, office space, writing space, garden space, or just a place to read your books, this book will help you want to change your shed into something you’ll enjoy for years to come all with the authors simple tips and step by step projects to get you on your way to designing that perfect space.
This is a gorgeous book with helpful information about creating a true “room of one’s own.” Kotite’ book is full of tips, how-to’s, and beautiful photographs designed to inspire anyone interested in building or renovating a small space for a new personal retreat. It’s not full of architectural plans, but I was impressed that it covered important construction essentials like placement of a shed on a concrete foundation vs. level ground, what types of flooring can be used, as well as wiring and electrical considerations. She Shed Style will have readers designing new spaces that are an extension of their homes and an expression of their best selves.
I want a she shed. There I said it - I want one, I have the shed, I have the lovely stuff to put in it. We also have so much stuff stuffed in said shed that the idea of cleaning it out is daunting, to say the least. In truth, it stops me in my tracks.
But this book - this book makes me want to Marie Kondo the heck out of that shed and make it my own little space. It's full of lovely and inspiring photos of the spaces women have carved out for themselves. And if I keep flipping through those pictures, maybe it'll get me motivated and I'll end up with a she shed of my very own.
Bottom line - if you've ever thought about having your own she shed, this is the book for you.
My thanks to Netgalley and Cool Springs Press for providing a copy for an unbiased review.
We all laughed at the State Farm "she shed" commercial, and now it's time for a women's man cave revolt! Just kidding. But seriously, Erika Kotite's, She Sheds Style, is a fun, inspiring, and timely home decor book that encourages women to create a treasured space that's all our own. Check this book out. You won't regret it! It's brimming with amazing ideas.
Not only have I been graced with my own shed I also have my own room inside of the house. My she room is my craft room and I pretty much have it fixed the way I want it. My shed on the other hand is my husbands old Man cave. He built himself a 2 car garage and gave me his old shed. It has a nice work bench, lots of shelves, and a great work table. It does have 3 windows as well. But it is filthy. With years of working on the motorcycles and cars I am not sure it will ever be cleaned.
I have moved my candle making stuff to the shed, as well as some storage bins I didn't want in the house anymore but didn't want to get lost in one of the other sheds in our yard. I have not decided what to do with this shed to spruce it up and brighten it up. After looking through this book I have found so many ideas that now I can't decide which way to go with it still yet. I would see something I loved then turn a page or 2 and find something else.
This book will give you some great ideas and you can incorporate more than one. If you narrow down what you want.
Awesome book and it will overload you with tons of ideas that will work with any she shed or even a she room.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.
