After reading through Melissa Leapman’s book of Essential Crochet Starter Stitches, the Next-Level stitches are incredible! There are a lot of things I’ve never seen before, and I’m looking forward to trying some of them! As with her first book, I really appreciate that there is a photo example, written instructions, and charts to follow so that people can learn in any method that works for them.
The instructions and crochet charts were easy to follow and there were several stitches I haven't come across before and would like to try. I will definitely be purchasing this book in print format once released so that I can have fun creating larger projects with lots of variety.
There are absolutely beautiful I loved all of this and can’t wait to try these out for myself! Such unique and creative patterns
I received this DRC from NetGalley.
This book has the same look as the starter crochet version. Again, the photos were clear, as were the instructions. There is a good amount of variation in the stitches presented, and included faux cables, which were new to me. I think the only thing I didn't love about this book were the yarn color choices used in the colorwork section. The book does such a good job otherwise of making everything aesthetically pleasing, yet put colors together that didn't work. But, of course, that's just a superficial criticism that doesn't change the clarity of the stitch pattern.
Excellent little crochet stitch companion. I am Excited to try all the new stitches detailed in the book and add more detail to my projects
I’m a new crocheter and this book made me realize how much more I still have to learn - wow there are so many stitches, options for bordering etc. I loved how this book broke down with photos, step by step instructions and an intensive index that breaks down how to read patterns and examples on how to do stitches step by step. Highly recommend. Also super loved the up close photos so you can compare your work to the example stitch. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you Quarry Books and NetGalley for the eARC of Essential Crochet Next-Level Stitches! All opinions in this book are my own.
This is an excellent resource experienced crocheters! I like how it includes stitches and edging techniques! While I will be ordering a physical copy of this book for my own reference, some of these stitches are definitely going to be a challenge for me!
All the stitch patterns in Essential Crochet Next-Level Stitches are really interesting and beautiful to look at. The book is split into three sections: textured stitches, colourwork and edging. I thought the textured stitches were the most interesting to look at and I will definitely be incorporating a few of these into my own projects. The patterns were very clear and easy to understand. Additionally I liked that at the back there is a section on how to do different stitches and how to read charts etc.
Overall I enjoyed flipping through this stitch dictionary and would recommend it to intermediate/advanced crocheters looking for a new challenge!
I loved this! As a beginner crocheter, I was excited to try out some new stitches and patterns. This book gave a variety of different stitches and was easy to follow even for someone who is just starting out. I've also been able to try out some colourwork which is daunting but I felt this gave me a good chance in getting the hang of it!
The pictures were great visual guides and this is perfect to get just in time for Christmas.
Much as with the first book, this is an easy to read collection featuring a great deal of textured stitches, from popcorns to cables, spikes, basketweaves, and colorwork. The colorwork section was a highlight, for me, because mosaic crochet is my current focus. The embossed fishent (found on page 70) will probably show up in some holiday gifts, this year. (Or maybe next year ... )
Building up off the previous book, this one has more intricate patterns to play with and more detailed charts to follow. While I did get an ARC of this to review, this is a book I'm actually going to order for my collection. The pictures are very well done, and the colors in the colorwork section are chosen to highlight the stitches, which makes them pop all the more.
Thank you so much to the publisher and Net Galley for letting me get my hands on this ARC!
All the stitches present in this guide are so wonderfully textured. Really awesome for all kind of projects, I have so many ideas now!
Essential Crochet Next Level Stitches is a detailed guide for more experienced crochetere. It has easy to follow instructions, in both written and visual forms. This would be a great book for people to up their skill level. I've Crocheted for many years and some of these stitches were new to me!

After reading Essential Crochet Starter Stitches, I think this book is a terrific follow-up. More of what made the first book such a good resource - with even more stitches that I have never encountered before but cannot wait to try. I am especially intrigued by some of the textured stitches ( hello, cable stitches!). Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing, for a copy of this book which I know I will be turning to time and time again for reference.
As a beginner crochet artist looks to expand their skills and looks at more complicated patterns, this book is an invaluable resource. I'm teaching several classes and my students are now ready to expand their skills. Melissa Leapman has given clear guidance in an easy to follow format. The stitches can be combined in any manner to create beautiful mementoes for friends and family
This is a wonderful reference and I'm so excited to use it more in my winter crocheting! Readable, understandable, and gave me the confidence to try them. Thank you for all of the work that went into it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry | Quarry Books for providing me with an e-ARC of Essential Crochet Next-Level Stitches in exchange for my honest review.
I also received the arc for the first book in this series and was impressed and I feel the same in regards to this one. I'm not a newby to crochet so I am confident to learn new stitches. Many of the stitches I either knew or was familiar with, however, it did help improve my skills with some of the lesser known stiitches. I did expect that. I like the lay out of the book, the pictures and the descriptions of the stitches and patterns.
Gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing book of advanced crochet stitches. Love the formatting & the pictures. I like the way there are graphs and instructions. I think that the beginner stitches in the back is a great addition.
I wish I had this book sooner! It has a wonderful array of crochet stitches with straightforward instructions and wonderful illustrations. I am going to have trouble picking a stitch to use for my next project!
As someone new to crochet, this was very helpful in learning new styles to add to my basic skills. Looking forward to getting these stitches in future projects and adding borders to some existing blankets.
hank you NetGalley & publisher for this ebook!
I’ve been crocheting for about two years and I found this book so helpful! I have been wanting to learn more than single or double crochet and I really liked that there is written instructions and the stitch diagram, I’m still learning to read patterns like that and it helps to have it written out as well. The book is beautifully put together, there are so many fun new stitches I can’t wait to try. I will be getting myself a physical copy of this book to keep on hand in my craft room.
"Essential Crochet Next-Level Stitches" is a fantastic little companion for any crocheter looking to expand their stitching skills! This book showcases 100 beautiful advanced stitch patterns in a format that's easy to follow. Each pattern comes with a clear photo, written instructions, and stitch diagrams, so you can learn whatever way works best for you.
The book is organized neatly into three sections: textured patterns (including some beautiful faux cables!), colourwork, and classy edgings that'll give your projects a professional finish. What makes it special is how it manages to make complex-looking stitches feel achievable, whether you're a beginner who's mastered the basics or an experienced crocheter seeking fresh inspiration.
The resource section at the back is like having a mini crochet mentor, complete with tips on how to read charts, and working with colour. If you're ready to level up your crochet game and add some wow to your projects, this book is worth adding to your crafting library.
I read Essential Crochet Next Level Stitches after reading the author’s previous crochet book geared more towards beginners. This book is definitely geared towards a more intermediate crafter. It includes a huge assortment of stitches along with photos and instructions. With these more intricate stitches it is helpful to have stitch guides in addition to the picture. I really enjoyed the stitch patters that incorporate multiple colors. The stitches in this book could be used for a variety of projects. I also love the inclusion of edging stitches. There is also a great resource section at the end of the book. This is a great book, and while I believe it is more geared towards those who have been crocheting for a while, it would also be good for those starting out as well. I would recommend this book.
I really like this book as extention to the one for starters! It really is a bit more complicated and you need a bit of practice to get into the stitches explained in this book but everything is very well explained and you can always check the pictures if you're crochet project looks like the picture. Really like it.
it has been four months since i started crocheting and this one… the title didn’t lie, next-level stitches !!! it contains images, graphics and written patterns PLUS there’s a whole chapter explaining how to do all the stitches and you can visualize how to do with all the images.
i’m mostly excited to do the waffle stitch (it’s actually one of my goals), textured lattice, woven lattice and both basketweave THEYRE ALL SO PRETTY but the interlocked diamonds?? I NEED TO DO IT.
highly recommend this one for the intermediate to advance crocheters !
thank you netgalley, quarry books and melissa leapman for the arc !!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who is comfortable with crochet this book is a great way to increase my skill set. The pictures, diagrams, and illustrations are all fantastic. They are very clear and easy to follow. I really appreciate having the formula for starting chains. It allows so much flexibility rather than having a specific pattern/finished size to follow.
I absolutely loved book one and this was no exception. Such a great guide and I loved having the pictures as a guide.
This is the perfect crochet book! Leapman created a really comprehensive and well thought out book. This guide covers everything you’d need to know and includes some really fun stitches and patterns. I will definitely be buying this one for myself.
Here we have a book with complex crochet patterns.
As with the starter stitches book, there are amazing photos with amazingly coloured patterns, and the steps and tips are very valuable.
Great book, lots of lovely new stitches to learn for those that are more intermediate than beginner. Easy instructions to follow and nice pictures.
I've been crocheting for over 40 years and I still love a good stitch dictionary. Just spending time looking at stitches and stitch combinations can bring joy and inspiration--gets the ideas moving. This is an excellent resource for those relatively new to crochet, those with decades of experience, and everyone in between. For newer crocheters, there is plenty of useful information contained in this compact volume, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming. For those with more experience, there are excellent photos of fabrics created with various stitches and stitch combinations to spur design ideas. Each stitch pattern includes a photo, written instructions, and stitch charts. The stitches are grouped in chapters as follows: textured patterns (including cables), colorwork (including mosaic crochet and spike stitches), and fancy edgings. The book begins with an introduction that contains useful information about measuring for gauge and what to look for when substituting yarns in commercial patterns. The book ends with a chapter titled Resources, which explain international crochet symbols, tips on reading charts, techniques, instructions for basic stitches with illustrations, stitch variations, and tips on working with color. I've taught crochet to individuals and in a local yarn shop and I would definitely recommend this book to those wanting to go beyond the bare basics, those building on existing skills, and those who just want to have stitchy inspiration at their fingertips.
This book has all things I expected from a crochet book! Instructions are all clear and able to follow through. I had try few stitches and it's amazing! I love all the creative stitches, it elevates basic projects into something special. It has Instructions in words, symbols, diagram, and colorful pictures.
Thank you NetGalley, for provide me with this amazing e-ARC in exchange for an honest review
This is a great book to read after the beginner book! I’m so new to crochet and need all the help I can get! Loved this too and I’m looking forward to being more adventurous with my crochet now!
Like the one before it, it is amazing. It has a great amount of stitches, and they range from fairly easy, to hard, and I love that. Some of the stitches in this book are stitches I use normally of I want a cool texture, like the waffle stitch. I also love thet they have color work as that can be hard for people, and once again I love the crochet charts.
