Description
Making desserts from scratch isn't always easy when you cook with traditional methods, like the oven or slow cooker. This is where the electric pressure cooker comes in. Electric pressure cookers and multi-cookers, like the Instant Pot, are proven to be fast, safe, and more versatile than you'd expect.
In Instantly Sweet, Barbara Schieving and Marci Buttars serve up hot, scrumptious, and satisfying desserts that can be made in a flash in your electric pressure cooker. No one knows Instant Pots or electric pressure cooker betters than Schieving, author of the best-selling The Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook, and Buttars, author of Mastering the Electric Pressure Cooker. They deliver their wealth of experience with these appliances to you, which you can take straight to the dessert table.
Instant Pot cakes, cheesecakes, and lava cakes have been sensational hits on the Internet—even when the online recipes were a little shaky. In these pages you will find lots of tested-to-perfection versions of each of these categories. Each recipe is reliable to follow and delectable in its results. Here, too, are puddings, cobblers, and even pies. This cookbook includes more than just desserts, since many quick breads can be made in the Instant Pot or its cousins—perfect treats for breakfasts on the fly, lunchboxes, after-school snacks, and late-night munchies.
Instantly Sweet is your go-to guide for quick and easy pressure cooker sweets.

This is a very informative book for the cook with a pressure cooker.
I am definitely going to purchase a pressure cooker after looking at this book.
So many recipes, and divided into clearly defined cooking genres.
Also full of information, hints, tips - so much you will just have to read the book to find out.
Thanks for the option to review this book.
Will be using it many times over.
I have had an instipot since they came out. It is still in the box. This book makes me want to unbox it, after I get done drooling over the pictures in the book. There is a ton of useful information about the instapot and the recipes sound delish! This book is a winner!
Mouth watering treats that will blow any diet! Simple to follow with not too many ingredience delicious high colour photographs that remind me of the 1950’s when sugar was not the badly it is today but a simple luxury. You know it’s okay to indulge every now and then! Here’s how to do it with big style!

Wow I did not know you could make all these things in an electric pressure cooker. Just the photos alone have my mouth watering and ready to start making some of these delicious recipes. With a wealth of information on the actual pressure cooker or instapot this book tells you everything from start to finish. I found a recipe for Lemon Curd (which I can't seem to make any otherway) that I have to try. There is everything froms breads, cheesecakes, pies, custards, sauces and fillings and more. Just the cheesecake on the cover would make you want to read the book. So if you have an electric pressure cooker or instapot sitting in the closet collecting dust here is your chance to use it and make some great sweets.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I was kindly given a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review. I love cookery books and have a pressure cooker so when I saw this book I was really interested.
This is an American book but most of the ingredients are available in the UK. This book has a great selection of recipes, some with photos to accompany them. There is a section on Cheesecakes, this is a dish I regularly cook so was pleased to see some different variations. The recipes are easy to follow.
I would recommend this book if you want to cook some thing different in your pressure cooker.
This collection of dessert recipes is the tipping point...we must now but our own Instant Pot (I tend to read cookbooks for ideas, even if it's not something I'll immediately make. With the Instant Pot, I've been reading cookbooks to see if it's be a purchase we'd really use...this book was my selling point). Divided into sections such as cheesecakes and lava cakes, this cookbooks is full of delicious desserts made in significantly less time than normal. (Cheesecakes that take less than four hours? Sign me up!)
Man, now I want an Instant Pot more than ever, they look like such useful tools and now I have a bunch of sweets recipes I could make. The recipes are clear and look delicious, however I do wish there were more pictures of the finished dishes. There are pictures, just not of each recipe. I was particularly intrigued by the various cheesecake and pie recipes, but the Vanilla Almond Custard with Raspberries looked the most delicious. Definitely give this book a try if you like desserts and have an Instant Pot!
Before reading this book, I would never have thought about making cakes or desserts in an Instant Pressure Cooker. There are so many easy to follow recipes in this book, like cheesecake, chocolate cake, lava cakes. If you own an Instant Pressure Cooker, you need to try some of these recipes. There is something for every sweet tooth in here.
I really enjoyed this cookbook. I’ve already tried a few of the recipes and they were a hit! Can’t wait to try more of them!
I absolutely LOVED this book! Brilliant recipes for the instant pot, pressure cooker! Count me in!
Chock full of mouth-watering recipes, with easy to find ingredients you'll be a dessert guru! Well written with beautiful photography this is a must-have in the kitchen with your pressure cooker! I can't wait to add this delightful book to my repertoire!
I don’t own a pressure cooker/pot however I read through this lovely illustrated book, Instantly Sweet, and the recepies all seem easy and straight forward to follow if you have the correct pressure cooker to make them in. A lovely well written and well laid out book. I am giving the book four stars due to the fact I didn’t actually make anything from it, but overall a lovely book. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC copy.
While most Instant Pot cookbooks have breakfast recipes and a smattering of dessert, I know of no volumes that concentrate on desserts, that is until now. This book is full of delicious recipes taking advantage of electric pressure cookers and their abilities.
None of the recipes is complex, in fact some use commercial mixes. What I particularly liked about this book is that it makes it easy to size and portion recipes for the cooker, something that always baffles me.
The longest chapter is sauces and components (i.e. frostings and fillings). With these you can combine these recipes with items you already have.
This is such a fab cookbook. I have only just started using a pressure cooker and have been struggling to come up with different things to make with it. After reading this book I don't think i'll struggle again and could see myself only using it to makes desserts (only joking!)
We tried the vanilla bean rice pudding which seemed like a good one to start with and it was delicious and really easy to make. I can see this being added to my dessert menu as it is ten times better than any store bought rice pudding!
So there are a few recipes that really stood out to me and i'm really excited to try them these being
Vanilla confetti cheesecake
White chocolate Macadamia lava cake
Tres leches Cake with macerated strawberries
There are so many that stand out! I'm also very happy to see recipes for chocolate syrup, compotes, ganache and lots of different pie fillings.
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
I received a free e-copy of Instantly Sweet by Barbara Schieving and Marci Buttars from NetGalley for my honest review.
This cookbook is a delightfully colorful and tasty book of 75 desserts that can all be prepared in your Instant Pot. I love my Instant Pot and have done a lot of cooking in it but had no idea that you could prepare desserts in it let alone 75. Mind blown!!! Barbara Schieving and Marci Buttars show us how to cook warm and cozy breads, bright morning breakfasts, scrumptious cakes and pies, mouth-watering custards and puddings and even fillings and sauces. An absolute delight of a cookbook..
Instantly Sweet is surely the loveliest Instant Pot dessert book I’ve encountered. As I would expect, it’s loaded with delicious puddings and cheesecake recipes, I was also impressed with the cakes and topping/filling recipes! I can’t wait to make the standard cherry cheesecake and the chocolate dulce de lèche, but will likely start with the festive and birthday friendly confetti sprinkle cheesecake. Excellent resource for speedy desserts!
Instantly Sweet is a wonderful recipe book. Featuring some beautiful recipes with some lovely photos.
This book inspires me to use my Instant Pot for sweet recipes instead of just savory things! Filled with lots of great background info and a troubleshooting section before the recipes. A wide variety of dessert types and flavors, including a pie section (which I was totally unaware you could make pie in an IP). The last section is Sauces/Fillings/Toppings. Lots of beautiful, mouthwatering pictures. Only complaint is that I wish there were a photo for every recipe.
excellent collection of dessert recipes to pressure cook. A variety of puddings, cakes, pies and breakfast items - different from many recipe books for pressure cookers. A great addition if you own such a device.
This is a different sort of desert book. It is a wide array of recipes concocted through using the various settings of a pressure cooker. Some of the recipes claim to be even better cooked using a pressure cooker than the traditional methods as they are more moist and delicious.
What a mouthwatering cookbook that makes you want to make ALL the desserts!
I am buying this cookbook for all my hostess friends who love sweets! I really liked all the pictures and desserts and how they are grouped per chapters. The cookbook also has a page in the beginning to help with baking failures and how to make the dessert properly per the authors' instructions. I liked this part of the cookbook because I usually tend to have a trial and error period when my recipes do not come out as intended!
I can't wait to make so many of these scrumptious desserts for breakfast too, DESSERT FIRST!
Very useful resource for our patrons. The recipes are perfect for the instant pot, easy, mostly traditional dessert recipes updated for use with the ever popular and trending instant pot. What is not to love. The recipes were well explained and the photographs were great.
I'm a crockpot cooker in an instant pot world! Santa brought me an instant pot last year and I've cooked the classics, stew, noodles, roasts, etc in it but never tried anything sweet. The idea of baking a cake in so little time did not seem doable. Once I tried a couple of recipes from this book, I was hooked! I've now made at least 40 of the 75 recipes and do not intend to stop until I have tried them all. The recipes are clear and easy to follow. Most have ingredients already in your pantry. I know a lot of people who buy all of their sweets at the grocery store or bakery. They say they don't have time. That's where the instant pot comes into play. Written by two instant pot experts, these recipes are pretty much foolproof. You will not be disappointed with your results if you try this book. Promise!!!!
Who knew you could could such YUMMY treats with your insta pot! THIS is the dessert cookbook you've been looking for, to take your instapot to a new level, especially if you use your instapot while rving/camping! While I'm not too sure on the pies (I love baked crusts), all the other recipes had me wanting to go bake immediately upon reading them! Even the family said ooo and aaah on evey other page! Yup, we'll be cooking our way through this cookbook! Luckily I already had a small springform pan that fit inside the cooker, so we could try out some of the recipes! The cheesecakes are to DIE for! the pressure cooker makes them SO much more easily, and no worries about anyone opening the oven on you! You may find yourself ONLY cooking them this way from now on! We;kk be startung on the breads next week (like the one below) and everybody can;t wait! If you have an instapot, you NEED this book, and if you're giving one for Christmas (yikes ONLY 73 days to go people!)!
This books Instantly Sweet focuses on sweet recipes, going from breakfast to cakes, cheesecakes,... I loved how simple the recipes look and there are lots of recipes.
5☆ Scrumptious Sweet Bakes...Using A Pressure Cooker!
All of these Scrumptious Sweet Desserts require the you to use a pressure cooker.
*There are Lots of helpful information to help you get to grips with a pressure cooker and the terminology is explained.
*Tips and tricks for getting the best results.
*Helpful explanations on specialist equipment needed.... ie, yoghurt maker, mason jars, instant read thermometer.
*Then last but not least a great Troubleshoot guide to help guide you.
Most of the recipies contain ....Change it up recipe tips to help you adapt and change the recipies. Alongside general tips to help you make the most of the bake
Unfortunately there isn't many illustrations, which for me let's down this gorgeous book.
I would of liked a picture for every recipe. Especially as the ones they have added look scrumptious.
Also included for each recipie is prep time, cook time and Total Time to help you prepare but remember they are just a guideline, so don't panic if you take longer at preparation.
The methods are short and sweet but do give enough detailed information.
What I would of liked maybe was more illustrations ...if the recipe was potentially difficult so that all baking/cooking levels would feel less daunted by just instructions.
The Ingredients are measured in American cups however they have included Grams as well to help make the conversion easier which I love. There is nothing worse than getting the conversion Ingredients wrong as it can ruin a whole bake!
My only other niggle is if you are not in America you might need to Google some ingredients ..... such as powdered sugar.... in the UK is Icing Sugar.
It would of been a good idea to have an ingredients conversion.
Here is a sample if recipes from each baking section :-

I have tried many recipes with complete success. The breakfast cakes were my favourite. The recipes are easy to follow. Highly recommended!
*I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
Cobblers, Cakes, and Pies Oh, My! This cookbook is a sweet lovers dream. There are recipes for any and every taste you can imagine. Like who thinks of a Banana Split Pie? Never heard of one but I sure as heck want to try it. There are sweet breads, lava cakes, and she even threw in recipes for toppings. How can you go wrong with that? Personally I think one can never go wrong with sweets, what's that famous saying?, "Eat Cake for Breakfast" well with this one you'll want to. The recipes are simple and easy to follow and/or tweak the recipe to your desired preference.
I love my instant pot. It makes dinner a whole lot easier and quicker. As much as I love it, I never really thought about using it for desserts. This book of 75 delicious desserts is the perfect addition to anyone owning a instant pot or even a regular pressure cooker. Not only do you get wonderful desserts you also get color photos, tips and tricks and even troubleshooting for instant pots. This is an awesome book.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.
Instant Pots have made cooking easier and faster for everyone, but most of us use them mostly for main and side dishes. But, two chefs, Barbara Schieving and Marci Buttars, have written an excellent cookbook, Instantly Sweet: 75 Desserts and Sweet Treats from Your Instant Pot or Other Electric Pressure Cooker, that contains enough recipes to keep most Instant pot aficionados happy with unique, as well as familiar desserts for months.
This excellent cookbook has beautiful photographs and well-written, easy to understand instructions. Every recipe so far has turned out picture-perfect, and most important, delicious. Schieving and Buttars have good imaginations, so there is something in this book for everyone. In the Breakfast chapter, there is a recipe for Orange-Cranberry Breakfast Risotto, which is delicious and a nice change from hot cereals. There are also several delicious and moist breakfast breads. The book also features lava cakes, puddings, and delicious cobblers.
Instantly Sweet has an excellent chapter with recipes for sauces, fillings, and toppings, made easier in the Instant Pot. There is also a chapter on Getting to Know Your Pressure Cooker which contains valuable advice and hints for cooking in a pressure cooker. A troubleshooting guide is included, and is a great help for those who are new at pressure cooking.
Although there are a few recipes that could stand a bit of a rewrite, (i.e., one calls for melted butter and the instructions tell you to melt the butter again), there is nothing major that would prevent experienced as well as beginning cooks from getting picture perfect results.
All told, anyone who loves cooking in the Instant Pot or other pressure cooker will love this cookbook. It would make a great gift, and will most likely become a favorite for dessert lovers. Highly Recommended.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
Got a sweet tooth? This is your book! There are so many recipes I want to try from it! Sweet and delicious!
This is perfect for everyone who owns an electric pressure cooker! The recipes are very detailed and definitely doable for even the least experienced cook.
I do not own an electric pressure cooker, so I tried to figure out if the recipes could be modified and unfortunately I think this will be difficult to do. The cooking circumstances in an electric pressure cooker are very hard to reproduced any other way. So if you want to give this as a gift: make sure the recipient owns one of these handy dandy machines!
There isn't a picture for each recipe, which made me a little sad, but the photographs used in this book are gorgeous and definitely compliment the style and the flow of this cookbook.
Instantly Sweet:75 Desserts and Sweet Treats from Your Instant Pot or Other Electric Pressure Cooker by Barbara Schieving and Marci Butters from Harvard Common Press has beautiful pictures, nicely formatted, interesting recipes.
Some of the chapters in this book include:
Quick Breads and Breakfasts
Cheesecakes
Lava Cakes
Pies
Cobblers and Fruit Desserts
Custard and Puddings
Sauces, Filling and Toppings
The recipes are appealing and I look forward to trying a few especially the Caramel Pecan Cheesecake and the Overnight Monkey Bread.
I have tossed around the idea of getting an instant pot but kept wondering if I really needed another kitchen appliance. This book convinced me I do need one more gadget and thanks to this book I will be adding one to my Christmas List.
Thank you NetGalley, Harvard Common Press and Barbara Schieving and Marci Butters.
I have always associated a pressure cooker with long cook meats and soups and, to be honest, not much else
This book changed that.
While they may not be time saving, there is certainly a lot of interesting recipes to try in here
Instantpots are the new kitchen fad that I can get behind. This cookbook would be great to add to any collection to go along with other instant pot cookbooks. Focusing on sweet, this book has easy recipes to sooth your sweet tooth.
Nice well written book. Lots of fresh ideas worth looking into. You can learn from this book which is just what you need these days
I have been looking for a dessert book for the instapot when I cam across this book; I liked the cover picture and the fact that it's a since book with 75 recipes, don't feel like I would be overwhelmed.
This book is recommended for those looking for a dessert book. Barbara goes through the basic of the instapot, actually breakdown each important part of the IP, and the functions of the buttons. This is a good primer of how the IP works.
She goes in to much detail about how desserts are made in the IP, what type of equipment, what you can expect from dessert in IP and common troubleshooting issues.
The pictures are really good in the cook and she has many recipes for cheesecakes in the book. Never knew you could make cheesecakes in IP until a friend brought one over. Sold!
This was a nice, well-illustrated and easy to use book. I had no idea how many kinds of desserts could be made in a pressure cooker.
There was a lot of variety, the recipes are easy to follow.
A lot of the recipes use boxed cake mixes, which is good if you’re a beginner and don’t like measuring.
There are also many non-cake mix recipes as well.
The potential of the Instant Pot just has no limits and this cookbook explores the sweeter side of the pressure cooking wonder appliance. Endless options and alternatives to the oven approach.
This book is definitely for someone who knows what an electric pressure cooker is (and has one)!. I didn't and don't, but will for sure after reading Instantly Sweet. What I loved is that immediately, the book makes mention 'why pressure cook desserts' and one of the answers was automatic portion control (as well as better taste and quicker cook times. Sold!). The photos are beautiful, so many tips and tricks (which I will need for sure), and the recipes interesting. I'd prefer to have the recipes numbered by step and a bit more simpler, but it's all good.
