I enjoy a book that makes me laugh. This book does that often! It also has me tear up with the precious children on occasion. It’s a great concept to pair an American heiress on a farm with 4 children and farm animals. Humorous situations are going to occur. This book not only had humor, but had lessons that were important to learn. Definitely a book I’d recommend. I look forward to reading more in this series also. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and I purchased a copy of my own. All opinions stated here are my own.

I'm not sure I've ever given any of Jen's books less than 5 stars. For the obvious reason that she's amazing and all the books are worthy of 5 stars.

That said, Flights of Fancy definitely deserves 5 stars. I alway literally laugh out loud when reading a Jen Turano book. This book has the added value of a cow with a big personality. The heroines are always women of esteem who are not above unlady-like behavior on occasion. They are always strong-willed and smart. They find themselves in sometimes tough situations and always find their way out while maintaining some amount of class.

If you are looking for a madcap adventure, packed with belly laughs; look no more. This is your next read!

Omg!! I love Jen Turano's stories!!
They are so sweet and funny, the characters are so endearing, and the plot has unique twists that keep me captivated from page one! That's what happened when I first read "A Change of Fortune" and there hasn't been a book of hers that has ever disappointed me!
Well "Flights of Fancy" was no exception! This is a new series that I'm already hooked with!
Isadora "Izzie" Delafield is an American Heiress whose mother is forcing to wed into an arranged marriage to an older earl.
Izzie is aghast and in her desperation, decides to flee and search for a new life where she can choose whom to give her heart to...
Ian MacKenzie is young businessman trying to make his way in society and business. Things are going mighty well, until he meets Isadora, just when his adopted parents are in need of a housekeeper and she is looking for a job. He never expects Izzie to turn his life upside down on the farm or to be charmed by her innocent and straightforwardness.
It's a delightful story: mix in a runaway heiress, a no nonsense businessman, a farm with animals and four adorable children, and you got a story that will make you laugh and cry at the same time!
Izzie and Ian captured my heart! I hope they capture yours too! I promise you won't regret reading this story and find yourself wanting more of these characters!
The romance is sweet and clean, and so tender! And the plot was original too! Kept me engaged from page one!!
I totally recommend it to Historical Romance lovers who like sweet stories with some humor in them!

Flights of Fancy by Jen Turano was an adventurous, romantic read. Jen set a great plot in this one and I found that the Duke was really creepy, as he should be. The main female character falls in love with the handsome main man and their journey to each other was fun to watch unfold. Loving each other for love and not for title or fame was really important to the lead woman and what a great choice. This story has the scary and the roguishly handsome all wrapped into one. I loved it.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Jen Turano has done it again! With less than realistic stories and romances, this is yet another witty, hilarious, historical fiction book. Her books are fun like no other, and I always enjoy them.

The basis of this beauty is the rich-pampered girl meets farm, which in itself is always a WILD RIDE, but the fun part is that the boy is not only a farm boy, but also a rich businessman! Both of the characters are likeable and exactly zany enough that the insane situations that happen to them are possible, and that's probably the best part about Turano's books. There are boiling water mishaps, wild pet stories, adorable children, ducks, and wise aunts and uncles: what more do you want?

There is also a surprising amount of faith content in this book for Isadora (the female MC) not really believing in a God, which I really enjoyed. Aunt Birdie was so sweet and wise and AAA can I have one of her in my life??! There was also a bit of mystery/suspense involved with the duke Isadora was trying to escape, especially at the end, which was really fun, and also different from most historicals!

Overall, this was a really fun read! I enjoyed it a lot, and it was hilarious and witty.

My Rating-
4/5

This was a fun and silly book that on occasion was borderline absurd. I really enjoyed the characters, but sometimes I just wanted to shake them. Some of the story was just a bit too farfetched for me, but if you're looking for a light read with some quirky characters then this will be an enjoyable one for you.

They want different things...or do they?

All I have to see is the name Jen Turano on the cover and I know that I am in for a charming, madcap, and perfectly delicious story. There will be plenty of romance, laugh-out-loud moments, and some of the most weirdly wonderful characters on the written page. There will also be the most delightful elements of suspense that really keep the story hopping. Without fail Jen Turano delivers a story that makes me laugh, think a little, and definitely happy that I've read it. Flights Of Fancy was no exception.

Flights Of Fancy is the first book in the American Heiresses series and it's a real winner. I was captivated by the characters, the setting, and the story, right off the bat. An enchantment that held through to the last page. Speaking of characters, there were a few very special ones that really captured my heart, besides the the heroine and hero, of course. The children were adorable as were Aunt Birdie and Uncle Amos, but, it was really Elmer, Buttercup, and Sparky that quite won me over. The book also features a generous dollop of suspense and one of Jen Turano's most despicable villains ever.

To say that I loved Flights Of Fancy would be a major understatement. This fun and funny book with its free-spirited characters and exceptional writing was a true delight and I simply can't wait for the next book in the series...

I wanted to enjoy this book but the old guy putting his hands on the main character and looking at her like he did, sick!
I stopped reading after like five pages because I am done with books that are filled with sick "men" who only think about a woman and her looks. Okay, okay, this guy's sick but he's likely the only guy in the book but why on earth can I not find a book that doesn't have a guy who can treat a girl like he's suppose to? Hmm?

If I finished the book I'm sure I'd love it but I don't want to since the beginning is trash.

I'd like just one book where adultery, lust, fornication, or other likewise sins come up. I mean come on, I'm seventeen, I like to read and want a book that has good content. It's not like I have high standards! Sure the Bible talks about all of these sins but in all of the books I've read lately they have these sins just to have them. There is no reason for every book I read to have mentions of a sexual sin just to have mention of them.

I will give a real review on my blog after I am finished stewing over the mindset that everything comes down to sex and I have fallen in love with the characters and wonderful story that Mrs. Turano has shared.

Somehow Jen Turano weaves humor into her books with such finesse. You simply cannot read without laughing out loud at some point. Truly it is a joy to read her stories! What I also appreciate is that the female characters are not laughable, but rather strong, charismatic, hard working individuals. The characters are well developed and not lacking in any way. It's not just the hero and heroine that will capture your attention but the supporting characters as well (some of which are not human). While most are likable, watch out for the villain who holds a title - the Duke.

There are plenty of laughable moments, but the story is also faith filled and has a hint of mystery. It's a story that will capture your heart and your attention. If you are looking for a book that is a bit light hearted and will give you a laugh, pick up Flights of Fancy. It's a gem!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story that is at times light-hearted and at other times full of suspense. It had just the right amount of silliness and made me laugh out loud a number of times. I adored the children and Aunt Birdie and Uncle Amos! I also enjoyed learning about this time period in Pittsburgh and appreciated the hard choices the characters had to make. The author did a lovely job weaving in spiritual truth in a way that never felt preachy, and I find myself encouraged to trust that God is directing my path no matter how crazy circumstances may appear.

“A woman who doesn’t like chickens isn’t to be trusted.”

A manor by any other name is a farm, an unfortunate truth that Izzie learns quickly after being dropped off at Glory Manor. Between Buttercup the cow wandering through the house, a hen named Elmer that likes to peck at Izzie’s ankles, goats eating the laundry, and an apparently-confused but endearing Uncle Amos who chases people with a rifle and accuses them of being chicken murderers, this heiress hiding out as a housekeeper (without a clue how to even boil water) is smack in the middle of what I can only describe as my worst nightmare – but hilarious when happening to someone else.

“She’d also not been expecting to find herself deposited on what seemed to be some type of farm, complete with chickens running amok and a cow standing on the front porch.”

Which means I laughed pretty much from start to finish, sweet message and heartwarmingly tender scenes notwithstanding. The adorable orphans (especially precious Daisy), Aunt Birdie, and Uncle Amos were the perfect supporting characters for this special brand of Turano-orchestrated mayhem. And when I wasn’t laughing, I was swooning over Ian who is my favorite Jen Turano hero – not the least of which reason is because he considers himself smitten with the written word.

“The sight of that grin stole the breath right out of her chest, robbing her of anything remotely sophisticated she might have wanted to say to him and leaving her feeling nothing like the cultured society lady she’d always prided herself on being.”

Bottom Line: Flights of Fancy gave In Good Company some close competition for the position of my fave Jen Turano novel. In the end, Millie Longfellow & In Good Company did just edge it out to retain the title, but it was a tight race. Endearing characters, swoony romance and madcap hilarity share the page with a touching reminder that one can be rich in many things besides money – and poor in many things even with great monetary wealth.

Jen Turano never disappoints! Her historical screwball comedies are in a class of their own, Flights of Fancy is chock full of all the wit, zany antics, and sweet romance Turano's fans have come to expect. Highly recommend!

What a fun, over-the-top, romping adventure!

This book was so much fun to read, and Jen Turano's signature style adds a dazzling (and hilarious) flair to a solemn and tragic part of history. This story deals with unfair working conditions, Victorian era orphans, and learning to follow your God-given purpose even in the midst of your own plans and decisions.

Ian and Izzy were precious together, and the children were...precocious. The animals did me in though (there is a cow that tracks other animals. And feels the need to be constantly inside the HOUSE. Also, there's a chicken).

A sweet, wholesome adventure that I'm excited to continue in the next book.

Note: As a goat owner myself, I must admit, I *did* cringe when the author stated that goats would be fine consuming laundry and rarely have stomach issues due to their propensity to eat any and everything. If only. lol
