A Moms Guide to Lies Girls Believe by author Dannah K Gresh is a helpful parent guide to Lies Girls Believe. It’s tips and guide directs you through the book itself.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of Lies Girls Believe: Moms Guide in exchange for an honest review.

I requested this book because I was hoping to have a tool to use that would tell how one person dealt with issues like cheating boys, smooth boys, the influence of the social media and how it effects kids, stuff like that. However, I felt like some of the issues brought forth were blown up or an issue in general not something that supports the title of the book and the belief of that book working for parents when they pick it up.
I also felt that instead of advice I got preached at. And like all sermons you don't always feel inspired, sometimes you feel worse when they are over.

I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

I wanted this book to confront issues for the modern family, although I didn't agree with some points and at times it felt like a rant by the author opposed to advice, I can see how this book would be helpful for some mothers.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, NetGalley!

...okay. I wanted to read this book because I thought (due to the title) that it would be about lies girls hear- how boys perceive them, the media influences everything, body image, sex etc. What I wasn’t expecting was a book deeply rooted in faith.

LET ME BE CLEAR: just because I wasn’t expecting it was this book two stars. My issue with the book is that each chapter was the same with a different type of story- self harm, oral sex, Instagram, clueless moms, lesbian/gay relations (in a negative context which come on, it’s 2018).

I really wanted to read a book that empowered, uplifted and made me feel like I could discuss society and hard topics with my daughter when the time is right. Instead I got an overly preachy book. Some people will love this book- these people also believe that there is only one way the world will work and I’m just not that person.

This book is the opposite of what it sounds like. each chapter is the same thing just different type of story .... not a 2018 type book..

"A Mom's Guide To Lie's Girl's Believe" is a great tool for Moms, Grandmoms, Aunts, teachers, etc to have! It compliments the book, "Lies Girls Believe" as a companion guide book. At the same time it makes sure that we as Mom (etc) have not fallen into the trap of believing the same lies as our daughters. I am not a fan of the fact that it does not the King James Version as the reference Bible, however for many that is not an issue. If you try to stick with King James Version Bible study tools, then this isn't. But if you have no such qualms, then this is the perfect companion guide book for you to study along with "Lies Girls Believe".

Each mother should read the book and take some advice from it. Great read. It talks about the issues the modern world brings but previous generation did not have to deal with.

Thank you Moody Publishers and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in return of my honest review.

This book had some relevant advice hidden amongst it, however it was more heavily based around faith than I had anticipated.
If you are looking for parenting advise based around Christian faith this could be a good book for you.

This guide for moms is a useful tool for those who are considering reading or teaching their daughters the book Lies Girls Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free by Dannah Gresh - Moody Publishers (you can read my review here), that is, not only give them away but accompany them in that reading) or comment extras with them.

It is necessary to have tools for the daughters. I know moms who would never think of how to approach these issues with them, this book can be very useful. I commented in my previous post that it is very exciting to see a book born, and when there are two that complement each other it is very useful. It is the practicality of Dannah Gresh, who in her books explains in an understandable and simple way, even with examples of how to do it. However, I think they are books that can be read separately and still serve.

The Guide for moms, is designed to make it easier to talk about these issues, even if a woman does not have much experience in dealing with them (especially current ones, such as technology management, or modern pressures), it will be easy to get involved and I can guide her through those truths. I think it can also be done by an aunt, grandmother or woman involved in the life of a girl, if she does not have a mother. When walking together for the content of this book, I consider that it will be more memorable and intentional than if they read it alone, in my opinion. It is an excellent idea that guides like this one are generated for moms who do not have as much creativity or ideas on how to teach little ones about important issues.

If you are a mom, I recommend reading this guide, it covers topics that the book does not include for girls, a decision that I consider very sensible, since there are some very strong ones that I consider that each mother should decide when to deal with her children. It helps you to open your eyes to the realities that many girls are experiencing and that their mothers consider that they are very naive or innocent.

I also received the guide last year for its review and I am excited to tell you that it will be part of my "curriculum" with my daughter. The official release of the books is February 5, 2019, but order them already in presale !, (both the book for girls, as the Guide for moms).

I want to emphasize that if you are familiar with the other books in the series (Lies That Young Women Believe and Lies Women Believe) the process of deepening with them, according to their needs and age, will be easier for you, and this does not mean that the content is the same, no. In addition, both Nancy and Dannah have very different styles when writing.

The concepts and advice are countercultural, yes, but I encourage you to always examine everything, to investigate deeply and retain the good, apply it and enjoy it. There are several people who have made very un-objective reviews, critical assertions and unfounded denigration. I invite you to read the entire book and judge for yourselves. I regret the lack of ethics to criticize without knowing or researching well, or why, knowing that they do not sympathize with the authors or lines of thought with the content (as it is very clear in the description) only want to boycott these efforts. Well, the intention of the author you can notice that at all times is the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being of girls in all their relationships, and obviously also their mothers.

I encourage you to acquire this combo to go forming true girls :)

This book was the perfect accompaniment to Lies Girls Believe. I let my tween daughter read Lies Girls Believe and she read it all in just a few sittings. It engaged her and I was glad we could discuss it with the help of the mom’s guide. Thank you investing in our children by writing books that point to God’s word. The nuggets of truth were our favorite! Also the stories about other tweens experiences were excellent talking points for the two of us. Thanks to Netgalley and Moody Publishers for an advanced readers copy

"A Moms’ Guide to Lies Girls Believe" by Dannah Gresh is a book to help Mums plant truths in their daughters’ hearts whilst they are young. We can’t make our daughters embrace God’s Word but we can plant seeds of truth in them.

The author has researched the material for her book and carried out a survey of over 1,500 girls aged between seven and twelve years of age. The author identified from the survey the twenty most common lies girls believe and has included them all in this section. Such as lies about God, themselves, sin, relationships and the future.

Whilst you, as a Mum read your book, your daughter reads her book “Lies Girls Believe” at the same time.

Included in each chapter of your book is the whole chapter from your daughter’s book so that you know what your daughter is reading. I thought this was a good and helpful idea. There are tips for having a conversation with your daughter regarding the content and what she is learning. Each chapter includes a ‘Truth Nugget’ (verses from the Bible), a section called ‘Talking with God’ and ‘Talking with your girl’. The aim is having read a chapter you come together to talk through what has been read and you, as her Mum, then help her with the practical side of implementing what she has learned - to reject lies and replace them with truth.

“Most of today’s tween girls suffer on what is called a spectrum of angst. It’s not a matter of if they will struggle – with depression, anxiety, fear, loneliness, and anger – but how much.”

This book looks at our emotions, how they are affected by our thinking and how our beliefs underpin it all. It is our belief system, the way we think and feel which affect our behaviour.

I wish these books had been available when my daughter was in her tween years and I recommend it to any mum who has a young daughter. Being a mum is not easy, we worry about not being good enough, and we lay a tremendous amount of guilt on ourselves. This book is one which encourages mums in their parenting and encourages mums to keep communicating with their daughters. It is a book which is very practical and grounded in scripture.

This is the companion guide to Lies Girls Believe, a book I reviewed late last year.
I am impressed with the quality of writing, and the issues that are tackled for mothers of girls aged 8 through 12. Plenty of Scripture is given refuting lies that we believe about ourselves, family or those around us. These lies are put into context for 8-12 year olds. Dannah includes in her narrative for mothers, statistics and results of questionnaires she has conducted through seminars. Some of the results are surprising and helpful in trying to understand the kind of pressures our daughters are facing in this day and age.
The chapters are ordered in the same manner as the guide for girls. This book includes leading questions you can use to discuss what your daughter is learning in her own book, and gives tips on what to focus on (although they are loose guidelines to get you started in conversing about the lies).
It addresses lies Moms believe about their own daughters too (i.e. my daughter is not at risk like other girls) which I think is helpful, but also kind of hits you over the head.
I appreciated the section on confronting sin for what it is but also providing comfort to her when she recognizes it for what it is.
QUOTE: “Comforting your daughter when she has believed a lie and acted on it is not spoiling her. It includes getting to the root of why she sinned and preventing her from repeating it.”
This follows the philosophy that sin issues are heart issues, and that a parent needs to help the child identify the heart issue, confront it, repent of it, and grow in God’s Truth.
Sections are included for Moms to have a personal devotional time at the end of each chapter, and a study Moms and daughters can do together. Page numbers are given to the Moms for the corresponding text in the daughter book.
I received an ecopy from the publisher through Net Galley. All opinions expressed are my own.
