I love "You Goal, Girl!" As a young woman in her twenties, I find it challenging to make goals that are realistic and this book helps with that. It has "Goal Breakdown" sections that help you plan what you need to do to reach a goal, a place to reflect on how that goal will better your life, and even a place to write down how you will reward yourself. The gratitude log is also a wonderful part of this book. It's so easy to get caught up in negative thoughts when you aren't making progress towards goals, and this helps you reflect on the good in your life.
I think this book would be excellent for any young woman, especially those in college or those who are just starting their career.
Great advice for those of us that struggle with not only setting, but fulfilling goals. This was written in a non-judgmental manner and offered many useful tips!
This book is beautiful, functional and just the right amount of funny. “You Goal, Girl” teaches you that a goal is something that is fully in your control. Common goals or resolutions like getting married or getting a promotion are actually not goals at all. They require someone’s decision as well. It then dives into what realistic vs. unrealistic goals.
Unlike other books of this nature, “You Goal, Girl” is empowering instead of patronizing. It makes setting realistic goals easy and fun! Before this book, setting goals for my life felt stressful but it was really fun to Brain Dump all my ideas, sort them then put them into action.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
You Goal, Girl is a book that will help you on setting your goal. I am good at making goals, but to fulfill it, is a one big challenges :D This book perhaps can be a great help for me in this new year that is coming soon.
I was granted a "wish" on Netgalley to read and review the book, You Goal Girl: A Goal-Setting Workbook by Earn Spend Live. A wish granted is when you are randomly selected to read and review a book on your wishlist. I was super stoked to get the chance to try this book out. I love the design of books like this because it is a great mix of reading and writing. This is the perfect tool for self development.
I have several favorite features of this workbook. The first being that SMART goals are once again explained and I've taken notes that I want to use for a teaching lesson at work. The workbook breaks down goal categories: Professional Development, Personal Development, Health & Fitness, Hobbies, and Finance. The reader is encouraged to first, "brain dump," which is to write down anything and everything that comes to mind; then, focus on what is most important, turning those ideas into SMARTgoals. The workbook includes worksheets to create long-term goals, steps to take to achieve those goals, list who will hold you accountable, and what you will do to reward yourself when you reach your goal. I love the idea of allowing others to hold you accountable for your goal progress. The workbook has a plethora of pages to create a gratitude journal and also features a habit tracker. Lastly, the workbook gives the reader a chance to re-evalate their goals, and then complete an end-of-goal evaluation. Evaluating progress is essential because it allows the goal setter to determine what is working, what isn't working, and what adjustments need to be made; this helps to eliminate the tendency to want to give up if something isn't working and encourages adjustments that promotes achievable success.
This workbook has everything I would use both personally and professionally. I was given a digital copy for free in exchange for my honest feedback. I've added a physical copy to my Amazon cart to purchase when I have the chance because I want to complete this for myself!
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point for granting my wish!
This book has a lot of great advice and concise ways to put that advice into action.
Plus it has list templates already formed for you!
As an avid list maker and goal setter I found it wonderful how they suggest breaking your goals down into smaller, more attainable goals. Many people set large goals, but don't always have a clear way of getting there set out. If you have the "mini goals" laid out on how to obtain the larger ones there is way less frustration or disappointment since progress will be seen on a regular basis during the journey to accomplishing your larger goals.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to make progress on anything.
The structure here will help you get started on the right path to achieving said progress.
Thank you Quatro, Rockpoint and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion.
This book is short, colourful and easy to read. It is perfect for the lead up to the New Year or anytime you would like to refocus on goal setting.
The book sets out really clearly how to set goals and keep them. The authors acknowledge the information they provide is not new, but they deliver it in a way which is inviting, motivating and easy to understand.
The book is half information on how to set SMART goals and half journal space for creating your own actionable goals.
Thank you for encouraging me to set some more specific goals over the next week.
This would be a great book for list lovers, goal makers and journallers.
You Goal,Girl is a helpful workbook for setting goals and stick to them. The authors walk you through looking at your goals and choosing what goals to attain. The helpful guides male it easy to set up a way to track your progress and understand what else you might need to complete your goals.
While this is a great resource, remember that you have to do the work or this great guide will go to waste.
The tone of this book is a bit young for me and some of the information was basic concepts. There was also a lot of opinions, which could feel a bit condescending, but there were good points and although I didn’t get a lot of new information from this book, it was definitely approached in a different way and could help younger people narrow down specifics they hope to gain from their goals in order to not be bogged down by them and actually meet them.
Perception is everything and this book nails it. It takes goals, thoughts and ideas and strips them down to their simpilest definition and then has you really look at the meaning. It was jaw dropping how simple and effective this book is, how overthinking and blowing things out of proportions people have become. Once you feel buried, it is hard to rethink things and pull yourself to a different path. this book is a lifeline.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book fell into my lap at exactly the right time. Because, yes reader, I am currently reviewing my goals and realising that I need more structure in my life. This workbook is definitely a great place to start if you are floundering. If you are an experienced goal achiever then it is probably not the book for you (but it is ever so pretty!).
This workbook takes you through the process of goal setting and reviewing in a structured and safe way. You will never feel out of your depth but at the same time there is incentive there to challenge you. If you want 2019 to be the year you achieve your goals then be assured that this workbook will help. It will not magically make your goals happen - you do need to be committed. But it will support you through the process. And did I mention? So pretty!
I received a free copy from the publisher through netgalley.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for providing me a copy of this book for an honest revivew. What a great book for people looking to be better at planning, setting goals and achieving them. It is set up for people to easily set and then achieve the goals. I would recommend this book.
You Goal, Girl definitely delivers.
Exactly as in the description you get a workbook where you can write down and break down your goals and concrete steps on how to achieve them.
Perfect for the new year 2019 and to set some new goals and good habits.
Not just for girls.
Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC.
Well decent workbook, breaks goal-setting into interesting understandable chunks and has a whole lot of encouragement along the way.
Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to review You Goal, Girl! I love goal setting books, and this is a great one. I love the step by step approach, positive mentoring style, and absolutely beautiful workbook pages. Seriously, this book is gorgeously designed. However, having read several books on achieving goals and dreams, I’d say this one is pretty basic and “beginner level” self-help. It would make the perfect gift for a high school or college graduate!
You might have read my struggles with being organized and how hard I have been working to make this year and myself better organized. I am glad that Netgalley granted my request to read You Goal, Girl.
The book is marketed as a workbook, and is rightly so. The writing is definitely motivating and the book itself is very colorful. I finished reading the book itself in less than an hour, but it is the worksheets that will need more than a cursory reading.
Work-life balance is a myth, not everyone is good at multitasking: it’s perfectly fine to focus on making improvements in just one (or two) of these categories at a time! #YouGoalGirl
The principles are fairly well known and pretty basic, and the book puts them in a clear perspective, thus makes working on them easier.
If you have a goal setting spreadsheet or a planner, incorporating these ideas into them will be easy. Or you can use these sheets for working them directly, if you have a physical print.
Final thought: Basic goal planner that works if you want it to
Recommended to: Those who are beginners to goal setting and planning
This book offers useful tips on setting and achieving goals, adopting new and healthy habits and ways to succeed at anything. Using examples, the authors outline the difference between realistic and unrealistic goals and shows the reader how to prioritize and achieve their goals. You Goal, Girl also includes worksheets to help you get started. Overall a fun and enjoyable read. Definitely recommend!
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The workbook that you need to crush your goals in 2019! It reads like a book but it also includes customisable worksheets on how to set goals and actually achieve them.
It is written by Meleah Bowles and Elise Williams, creators of Earn Spend Live, a lifestyle website for young women. It is structured in 8 chapters that include: How to set our goals / how to prioritise them after dividing them in five main categories (professional development, health and fitness, hobbies, personal development, finances) / how to actually achieve them (!) / how to track our progress.
It is written in a workbook format in an easy, funky and sometimes humorous writing style.
Every chapter starts with a little overview and specific guidelines on how to complete the worksheets. For example, on the goal setting chapter, the authors advise us that for every yearly goal (a step we take to make one of our dreams reality) we choose, we have to divide it in actionable steps for each month / week / day. What follows are worksheets for daily tracking for every goal.
If you have trouble defining your goals or you have too many, the authors suggest that you think which goals would be the easiest to achieve / are the most important / will improve your life the most / are, of course, realistic.
The book includes also advice on how to evaluate your progress and a whole chapter devoted on gratitude even when you have a setback.
Perfect for people who like lists and enjoy the satisfaction of completing a job well done!
You Goal, Girl is a really great motivational and inspirational workbook. Set out as a resource to (potentially) last a year, You Goal, Girl, encourages readers to define goals, set plans, maintain your progress, and re-evaluate. What sets this book aside from others of the self-help market is the engaging and approachable way in which the book is written.
The approachability of the book can be seen through the way in which readers are prompted to think about goals, that is they are encouraged and told that no one is the same and you might not be able to define to the amount or degree specified in the book. Everyone’s journey is different and there may be things in your life that you can’t control.
You Goal, Girl is also very forgiving. All throughout the workbook there are reminders that things can happen, you may lose focus, you may go through a rough patch, and you might struggle to meet your goals. There are two sections that provide a space for readers to take a break, re-evaluate, and think of why they want to continue. These sections are Chapter Four: Gratitude Log and Chapter 6: Midway Check-in.
The Gratitude Log prompts you to list things that make you grateful and is a powerful tool for readers to maintain the energy to accomplish their goals. I loved section of the workbook, the open acknowledgement that ‘hey sometimes stuff things get hard but don’t feel bogged down because look at all these good things to keep you going!’ It’s nice for a self help book to so openly acknowledge that sometimes you need space to keep you going and pages and tools to re-evaluate your goals.
Recommendations: The target demographic of You Goal, Girl isn’t everyone. The books feels like the first book you would get someone when they wanted to start hitting goals or take more control of their life.
You Goal, Girl is well thought out, provides enough room to fill in the prompts, and the explanations and affirmations are great at kick starting ideas. I would really recommended this for anyone looking for a simple, easy, and friendly goal setting workbook! Also the book also looks great, so win-win.
Please note: I received a copy of You Goal, Girl from NetGalley.
If setting goals and keeping them are high on your priority this year then this book is for you. This year is the year I plan to get myself together and not just set goals but actually achieve them as well. This book really helped me put them into perspective and now I have all the right tools to meet and surpass them. So if you need an extra boost then I highly recommend this book.
What an awesome book. As the authors say themselves - whether you love a goal or don't see the point in setting one, either way this book is for you. The advice they give is super accessible and shared in such a warm and approachable way. None of it is mould-breaking or complex, but that is what makes it so good. The workbook pages are fun but also really practical, and the whole package is really gorgeous. I love the colours, the layout and how it is broken down into easy-to-follow sections. This is my new guide to life!
You Goal, Girl is a practical guide for the contemporary woman who may need a gentle shove when they don't quite feel like adulting. Goal-focused with easy to use worksheets and easy to read instruction and explanations. It blends humour and viability and encouragement with ease leaving you with the impression that you just had a kick-butt friend in the room with a whiteboard brainstorming session with clear results to implement. Simple and easy to use with eye-pleasing graphic design.
I received a copy of this title via NetGalley courtesy of the publisher and/or author(s). All opinions expressed are my own.
I really liked it. There were really great tips. It was easy to follow. I loved the gratitude log and habit tracker parts. I think i need this book and definitely check it out.
You Goal, Girl is a goal setting work book to help you plan out and achieve your goals. The book explains that goals are the steps you take to make your dreams a reality. Your goals should be S.M.A.R.T - that is, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. This is something that I struggle with - but I am trying to make things that are more measurable - that way it is easier to track your progress and know what you need to do to continue to get there and achieve it.
At the end of Chapter 1 you are encouraged to "Brain Dump", that is write down all the goals you have whether they be specific or not - throughout the rest of the chapters in the book you prioritize sort them into categories, figure out what you need to do in order to achieve them, create a gratitude log, track your progress, create a focus for what needs to be done each month and each week of the month, re-evaluate everything when you are at the half-way point to your goals, and reflecting on the goal once you make it to the end.
I think right now my goals are in the "brain dump" portion of this book. I know what I want to do (scrapbook all the things!) but need to break them down more so that it is less overwhelming so I don't just look at a pile of things to scrap and decide to nap instead because I don't know where to begin. I've also started making monthly to do lists with things broken down in different areas of my life and I try to get all (or most) done by the end of each month. This has led to me budgeting my time out a bit better and actually accomplishing things rather than realizing I have some free time and then just not knowing where to begin. I think if I use the work pages in this book along with some of the changes I have been trying to make for myself, I will find that by the end of the year I am achieving many more of my goals than I had been in the past.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated. This book was released on December 11, 2018 from Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point.
The publisher, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, provided me with an ARC of this nonfiction book, You Goal, Girl: A Goal-Setting Workbook, in exchange of an honest review.
Nowadays, most people multi-task constantly. They have a long lists of tasks they need to perform and goals to meet. I'm no different. I'm a full-time student, avid reader, critique partner, and I'm also either writing my own books or editing them. I was so glad the publisher granted my wish on NetGalley and approved my request to read this book.
Based on the title and description, I was expecting a book that guides us on how to make doable goals and how to actually meet them. Most of us believe we're Superwoman and we can do everything in record time. Sadly, we're not. This book helps readers understand what a realistic goal is, see how we can achieve them, and find a way to hold ourselves accountable. Last but not least, it also offers worksheets that are beautiful, effective, and easy to use. And don't worry; it has many examples of the sheets so you have a lot of space to strategize over your goals and set the steps needed to achieve them.
I found it delightful and light-hearted. The authors create a friendly and easy-going atmosphere throughout the book, maintaining a perfect balance of "doing the work" without making it feel like a chore. It makes goal-setting fun and optimistic while providing the information readers need to achieve their goals no matter what and how complicated they are. The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is that there was no ground-breaking moment or advice. Maybe, there isn't any out there, or maybe, I'm too organized and goal-oriented myself. This doesn't mean, however, that I didn't learn anything new or that it didn't help me.
All in all, You Goal, Girl: A Goal-Setting Workbook is delightful and immensely helpful! I strongly recommend it if you wish to be more effective and productive in your daily life or if you juggle a lot of tasks/jobs at the same time and need help with prioritizing and setting manageable goals.
4 stars - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

You Goal, Girl is more than a pretty workbook, it helps you focus on your goals and gives you very attainable ways to do so. I have tried other books, planners, and journals and lose interest halfway through, or find that they don't meet my needs. I enjoyed the tips and anecdotes that the author provided and find myself referring to them frequently. The best feature? The fact that it is updated. This allows you to start any time of the year and you are able to make copies to keep at home or work.
Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to read this book.
As a graphic designer, the first thing that stood out to me was how beautifully this book was designed! Although I was reading it on the computer, I could imagine how great it would look as a physical, printed item, which I think is really important given that the goal of the book is to inspire. With regards to the content of the book, I found it really engaging, well laid out and straight to the point, which I think is great, as similar books can tend to 'waffle' a little, thus lose the message they are trying to impart. Although a lot of the information can be found online (SMART Goals are a fairly universal concept), I appreciated how this book took the ideas and created an easy to follow 'roadmap, which is perfect for someone like myself who can feel overwhelemed by all the information one can find surrounding goal setting and achieving!
You Goal, Girl, is a fantastic little workbook, that teaches you about setting SMART goals, and then gives you worksheets to start working right away on your goals.
SMART goals are an acronym referring to goals that are:
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Relevant
Time-bound
I have previously heard about SMART goals on a webinar but is nice to have them easily available in the workbook, to reference back when needed.
I really appreciate that the authors share their advice and past experiences with goal setting.
Besides the various tips, you will also find easy to understand examples. The authors help you recognize the difference between realistic and unrealistic goals.
The worksheets also include sections for gratitude logging. Which I didn't expect from a goal-setting book, but is a greatly appreciated section as I practice daily gratitude journaling. And more opportunities to express gratitude is always welcomed.
The beautiful layout just makes it a joy to look at and of course to use. Working with a pretty book enhances the experience and makes it a bit more fun.
I would also like to note that this book can be used to set personal goals, professional goals, or academic goals.
The structure of this book will easily guide you thru all the steps of goal setting. I highly recommend this book to anyone that needs and easy to follow system to get started setting goals.
This is a neat little book that will be great to get a print copy of to work in. The workbook pages help guide you through the goal making process and empower your actions and decision making. Overall, I enjoyed this book, but because of the workbook style, I won't be able to purchase for my libraries.
I wish I could have printed this book and have it in that format instead of epub. That's really my only complaint about it. The book itself was useful and have many things that with software and my table I was able to use as a digital planner in some way, shape or form.
The information was not exactly groundbreaking for me but considering how much I read and research topics online, it wasn't a big surprise. Foundation is laid in these pages with directions as to how to do simple tasks. I do consider these things very important because if you know the basics you can scale into bigger and more complex methods.
Challenges are given to the reader and I, for one, I'm glad because most books about Goals are just theories and facts as to how to do certain things to get to a Goal or to create one being SMART about it. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer a more active approach and this book gave me exactly that.
It feels very familiar, like a friend guiding you through the steps and challenging you to move ahead, do the thing and get everything out of your head and into a more structured plan. After all "An idea without a plan is just a dream".
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book provided by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
As a self improvement book junkie, this is a wonderful book. Goal setting sparks excitement and catapults one into a project. This is a great perspective, I enjoyed this book, and it helped harness my optimistic energy.. part workbook part guide
Beautifully done little book that will defiantly help you set your goals and find ways to track them and with that stay on them!
A few of my personal favorite things about his book is how the authors made sure to never actually tell the reader what to do exactly since they themselves say in the book that they don't know the life situation.of the reader, I read why t many books of this type were the author basically gives he reader a daily plan that the easer should follow down to the second in oder to 'help' the reader achieve hier goal. And while that might very well work for some people I'd never did for me. So this. Ok and it's much subtler and softer guidelines where great for me.
I also loved that it included everything right in the book. You have goal pages, pages to break the. Down into more actionable steps, as the book calls them, pageant dedicated for habits and gratitude and everything in more than one edition so that's it can be used for more than one goal!
Again not for everyone but I really thought it was a very nice touch since it really helps the reader feel inspired to start right now, right as they read the book to brainstorm and start to really think and work on their goals and amaze them amanageable and with that achieveale!
It's not really a book that talks about anything new or world changing. Everything has been talked about before, and can be found for free on the internet. Everyone already knows that one big goal at the beginning of the year will still be there at the end of it untouched if it's not broken down, everyone knows habits form our lived, or ATM least I think everyone does? So it's not as if this book breaks open this whole new treasure of never talked about goal cracking ideas! Just sayin'!
But I really enjoyed how the authors put this togehter and how the explain why it will work this way and make it so easily accessible and in many ways achievable.
I loved this little book and was defiantly inspired to rethink my own goals and start to structure them more as this book Suggests.
If you want an deady to read and follow book teaching you how to actually be able to follow through with your goals? Give this a try!
This was a very cute book and has some very helpful sheets for getting organized and potentially getting your life together. Definitely something that would be helpful for people like me who could use a little more focus. Very bright colour scheme.
You Goal Girl is a beautiful looking workbook aimed at helping you to set and achieve your goals.
I feel like this might be better as a physical book because it's hard to make full use of the worksheets in a digital copy.
It's full of tips on setting manageable goals and talks you through how to actually achieve them. It's easy to follow and is a great read as it's humorous, relatable and encouraging.
I recommend it for someone who wants to learn how SMART goals works, wants to get fancy and functional workseets and is just starting setting goals.
I was expecting so much more from this workbook. The start was promising, but soon enough I discovered that the book is just filled with a bunch of worksheets (which look really nice and have the right amount of space to write in) and there is not much theory or support in the book.
It is good for a really basic start to goal setting, but there is not much real advice once you have already set out your goals. I found the book lacking strategies to keep on track and to rewards yourself midway.
Goals are my jam, and so are planners so when I saw this I wanted it. However, goal planning is easier said than done. I like the concept but there is far too much work to upkeep it that it becomes a chore in itself.
Mostly filled with information I already know, but a quite little workbook to get you started on your goals!
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is a journal that will hlpe you keep track of goals and help you clean out your mind. I liked the por-tips and templates this journal offers. There is a lot of space to write. The brain dump spot kind of made me giggle because I used that a lot when I need to just empty things out when I am working on my own personal writing projects. So this helped in that aspects as well. So this was a good find for me.
A beautifully written and designed goal planner. Be sure to buy it in print!
Creative advice for making sure you hit your goals and get what you're after.
Love the design, the way this is written, the useful information and the fact it's a workbook - ace for twenty-somethings that need a little hand!
I loved this simple goal setting guide. I wish I could download this in paper form and hand it out as a goal setting professional development.
You Goal, Girl is more than a pretty workbook, it helps you focus on your goals and gives you very attainable ways to do so. Besides the various tips, you will also find easy to understand examples. The authors help you recognize the difference between realistic and unrealistic goals.
