The perfect family awaits...if only he'll risk his heart.

Pregnant and recently widowed, Grace Fisher is determined to provide for her family on her own. Thankfully, her jam business is popular in her Amish community. But it's difficult keeping up with her work, her farm chores, and her two mischievous children. Especially now that they've taken to idolizing their neighbor Elijah. While the handsome farmer is kind and generous, he seems intent on holding Grace and her little ones at a distance...

Elijah Beiler has always admired his neighbor Grace. So standing by while she struggles to support her family isn't an option. Offering to take over her farm duties, Elijah is determined to help while remaining detached. He knows all too well that love only leads to heartbreak. Elijah Beiler couldn’t figure his neighbor out. She was recently widowed so he offered to gather her eggs and milk her cows. What he couldn’t figure out was, when he brought in the milk and eggs, she was always busy making jam. What kind of mother was she? Was making jam more important than caring for her two small children? This irritated Elijah to no end.

Melvin Fisher had changed since he lost his job. He became so ill-tempered little Levi was fearful of him. Grace had to do all the chores, inside and out, and she made jam to raise some money. When he died, she made even more because she didn’t want to depend on the community.

Not too long ago, I didn’t know anything about Rachel Good but, after reading one of her books, she’s now on my must-read list.

Read Grace’s story. Rachel will be on your must-read list too!

The Amish Widow’s Rescue was a gripping story from the beginning with all that Grace Fisher and her young children had endured. Elijah Beiler’s life had not been easy but he was determined to assist Grace and her children as any Amish neighbor would. The children looked up to Elijah but his past kept him on alert. There are really two plots in this story with each character being three dimensional as they are brought to life. Themes of trust, forgiveness and finding peace by praying will give way too unexpected turn of events that restored lives and brought second chances. This book is the third one in Good’s Love and Promises series but it can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading The Amish Teacher’s Gift and The Amish Midwife’s Secret to appreciate all the characters in this series and how they found forgiveness and new beginnings.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review; however, I have expressed my sincere thoughts.

This story covers hard topics such as verbal abuse, postpartum depression and abandonment. Grace was a strong character that really had a hard time accepting help. I found it interesting that Elijah, with his sad background felt such a strong urge to help Grace. I liked that Miriam had matured enough to help Grace through her time of need. This story shows that with love, faith and encouragement, things will work out. God always has a plan for us. Recommended!

I've never been much into the Amish stories, but I wanted to try one and I'm glad I did. Such a heart felt story with second chances in love and families getting back together. The author did a beautiful job bringing the couple together. I look forward to reading more from Rachel J. Good.

Thank you NetGalley for a chance to read an early copy.

It is a true blessing that Grace Fisher has a successful jam business. Grace is widowed, pregnant and has two small children. As a mother on her own in her Amish community, things will not be easy. However, it becomes apparent that Grace needs help. When neighbor and fellow farmer Elijah Beiler offers to help Grace, he wisely holds her at a distance. This is especially because he begins to develop strong feelings for her.

Elijah does the responsible and neighborly thing. He assumes her farm duties. As time wears on, however, he spends more and more time with her and the children, and his feelings indeed become attached. There are problems, however. There is the customary grieving period that must be met, and Elijah has reasons of his own to protect his heart.

The Amish Widow's Rescue is the third story in the Love and Promises series and it is incredibly touching. I found this story to be much deeper than the first two. There were issues explored when it came to Grace's relationship with her husband before his death that I'd not seen in the Amish stories I have read. This made this read exceptionally emotional and I felt so bad for Rachel and the children.

This was an incredible read that I devoured in one sitting. This story drew tears of sadness, but I am glad to say that those tears were replaced with those of joy. Rachel J. Good is an exceptional writer and I will definitely keep on reading her books.

Although this is a singular story that could work well as a standalone, I would definitely recommend reading the first two books in the series, The Amish Teacher's Gift and The Amish Midwife's Secret.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
