Description
A young American au pair, Charlotte Clancy, vanishes without a trace in Mexico City. The case is left cold, but its legacy will be devastating.
A decade later, LA is shaken by a spate of violent murders. Psychologist Nikki Roberts is the common link between the victims, her patients at the heart of this treacherous web. When someone makes an attempt on Nikki’s life, it’s clear she is a marked woman.
Nikki makes a living out of reading people, drawing out their secrets, but the key to this shocking pattern eludes her. With the police at a dead end Nikki drafts in Derek Williams, a PI who isn’t afraid to put his hand into the hornet’s nest. Williams was thwarted in the notorious Charlotte Clancy case all those years ago, but what he unearths in LA—and the mention of one name in particular—leaves him cold, and takes him on a dangerous path into the past.
A shadowy manipulator has brought his deadly game to the streets of LA. In a crime spanning generations, it seems Nikki Roberts knows all too much—and a ruthless killer knows the price of her silence.
In this crooked city, where enemies and friends are one and the same, Nikki must be the master of her own escape…

The Silent Widow delivers on suspense and mystery. From page one this story was a pleasant surprise, the writing draws the reader in and keeps you guessing until the end. Lately the mysteries I have chosen have been letting me down but not this book. The cast of characters provides an endless buffet of the creepy and despicable bad guys that could be the culprit. The story twists and turns and the whodunit is not totally unexpected but it definitely takes some doing to get there. The main character is cool in a flawed and believable way. Overall, this book is an excellent read that you do not want life to interrupt (even though that seems to happen way too much). Tilly Bagshawe is a new to me author that I will be looking for lots more of. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
ANY book that has Sidney Sheldon and Tilly Bagshawe as authors is superb! I have read all of their books and can tell you that this one will not disappoint!
In LA, Dr. Nikki Roberts contemplates suicide. She remembers those who she let down, loved and could have loved. Her life is at an impasse. The story goes back in time to a year ago when she and Doug had a wonderful marriage...
Nikki becomes embroiled in murders - and at one point even fears for her own life. The police have been unable to determine who murdered two of her patients . So, Nikki hires a PI and then things get stirred up fast!
A brilliant suspense thriller that I highly recommend!!! Action and emotions galore.
A definite MUST READ!!!
Many thanks to both the Publisher and NetGalley for a heck of a ride!

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book. It was a page turner
This book gave me shivers.
The story revolves around Dr. Nikki Roberts and when the people around her suddenly start dropping dead, being victims of brutal attacks-the police knock on her door and they are nothing but biased and it doesn't help that one thinks she's evil and the other is too sweet and kind.
What's great about the writing here is that it keeps you turning the pages and the desire to figure out the reason and person behind all the killings.
It was an enjoyable read and the murders did give me shivers too. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
This is a well developed story, a good paced thriller, cleverly written with good characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I can recommend this book if you are looking for a thrilling read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Tilly Bageshawe's new Sidney Sheldon novel is a juicy page-turner that provides excellent entertainment value. You can't approach this type of book expecting naturalistic realism; this is commercial entertainment through-and-through. So, suspend your disbelief, and settle back for a fun ride through a labyrinthine plot in which a beautiful psychologist, Nikki Roberts (the silent widow), becomes involved in a shady murder plot involving a Mexican drug cartel, a series of her patients's murders, and her secretive dead husband.
At first it is not clear why all Nikki's patients are turning up dead. Since she is the common link among the victims, the police naturally suspect her of being involved. But as with most of Bagshawe/Sheldon's novels, nothing is quite what it seems. She hires a private investigator to help dig up the truth, and the path leads to a case that occurred a decade earlier. Soon Nikki finds herself in a series of dangerous predicaments where no one can be trusted.
I have read a few other Tilly Bagshawe book, and I found them to be fun entertainment. Personally, I think she's a stronger writer than Sheldon in many ways. Sheldon was great at coming up with a hook, but sometimes when reading his books, I felt like I was reading the bare bones of a very entertaining plot without some of the details that would make the plot seem more realistic. Bageshawe's descriptions are a bit more colorful, which makes it easier for me to visualize what's happening.
overall, this is a fun book. It's not going to win any literary awards, but it does read like a bestseller--and that's good enough for me.

4.5 STARS
The horror started with the disappearance of Charlotte Clancy in Mexico City. A decade later it was Nikki Robert's husband, Doug, death that made Nikki's world comes crashing down. How can these two strangers be tied together?
Nikki Roberts is a psychologist in downtown LA. Her clients were nothing short of being famous and dangerous, especially when she doesn't exactly know why they are dangerous to her. Suddenly one of client was horrendously murdered outside of her office and a few days later her secretary was murdered the same way. Obviously, the two were connected but how?
Here entered detectives Goodman and Johnson. Good cop/Bad cop were their personalities. Goodman fell for Dr. Roberts as Johnson was calling her out as a suspect. As Nikki's world spiral out of control, the story open readers to a world of drug-cartels with a large mix of government corruption to a city that she can no longer called home.
The story was mesmerizing from the beginning with it's fast pace and twisting roads of characters. It keeps me hanging on until the end. There were at times where things were easy to predict, but that did not in any way ruin the story line. Although, I find that the character Lenka was unnecessary even after the explanation of how Lenka was connected. Nikki's obsession with Lenka was a weak point in the story line that never actually got explored at a in dept angle. It was barely on the surface and really more like a garnish on a main entree. It's just there and does nothing to push the characters along.
I read Sidney Sheldon years ago. Tilly Bagshawe has done a wonderful job in keeping his legacy alive. This was a really good book.
Nikki Roberts is a LA psychologist whose husband died in a car crash about a year ago and there is a string of murders hitting LA with Nikki as a link to all of them. The police focus on her although an attempt has also been made on her life. Nikki reaches out to a local private investigator for answers to get her life back and find out who is behind all of this. The local PI is haunted by a decades old case that somehow gets linked into the events of what is going on now. The old case has to do with a missing au pair and involves the drug cartel and linkage to Nikki’s husband? She doesn’t know who to trust. This is very intricate and interwoven story. Definitely in the Sheldon formula. Engaging and gripping read. Well done.
The Silent Widow is a murder mystery. Nikki is a psychologist, and her husband died a year ago in a car accident. Her patients start turning up dead, and the police see her as the prime suspect, even though her own life is in danger. Nikki gets involved with an investigator who somehow has an old case that might have something to do with Nikki's dead husband. Obviously, it's a twisting round and round kind of story. It's well written and keeps your interest until the end. Nikki is a flawed, sympathetic and intelligent character. Overall, the story is engaging and complex as the mystery slowly unravels. I recommend if you want a good mystery. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I’m a long time fan of Sidney Sheldon. Tilly Bagshawe has always done an amazing job of continuing his legacy, writing in his style while also making it her own!
This book focuses on Dr Nikki Roberts and the death of her husband and one by one her patients are brutally murdered.
This book tells of the drug trade and travels between Mexico and L.A.
I absolutely couldn’t put it down and I was so excited to read this great book !
An engrossing and well developed thriller, it was entertaining and enjoyable, a real page turner.
I like the style of writing and how the characters were developed.
The book is a real page turner, once you start you cannot put it down.
I look forward to reading other books by this writer.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books and Netgalley for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all opinions are mine.
Oh my gosh, what can I say, this has been an intensely absorbing and engrossing read, It captivates you holding you prisoner in its tightly gripping pages. Darn, it has been one exciting and intoxicating read, I’m breathlessly and totally entertained. A truly invigorating and amazing book.
I haven’t read anything by Sidney Sheldon for many years and have never read anything by cowriter Tilly Bagshawe. This mystery thriller was riveting to the end. I liked the way the life of Nikki, the grieving psychotherapist was well woven into her part in several police investigations and the drug world. Not only that but we got to take a peek into the back story of several of her patients. There are some exciting plot twists in this book, and it had me guessing.
I was always a big Sidney Sheldon fan. This is a story of drugs, murder, money laundering and then there is Nikki trying to help her patients not realizing the threat they are to her. Ten years ago an au pair in Mexico City has disappeared. Then Nikki's husband dies in a terrible traffic accident. Then a patient of Nikki's is killed as is another patient. The police seem to be at a loss as to what happened except that these people seem to be close to Nikki. There are many sides to this story and each has to be followed in true Sheldon fashion.
Incredible! The Silent Widow is a superb suspense mystery/thriller. I throughly enjoyed this book. This is a story of illegal drugs, gang wars, and murder. Nikki a widowed psychologist is trying to help her patients when several of her patients are murdered one by one. As the story unwinds, there are many surprises, twists and turns that make this an enjoyable read. It has a strong plot and good characters with tension building throughout the book. It was a really gripping page turner for me! A brilliant suspense thriller that I highly recommend! My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This is a fantastic book. I have read many books by Sidney Sheldon and loved them. This book by Tilly Bagshawe writing for Sidney Sheldon was terrific. The book centers around, a psychologist Dr.Nikki Roberts whose patients keep getting killed. If you read the blurb, it starts off about ten years earlier about a young au pair from the United States who goes missing in Mexico, Now back to the present. Also, Dr. Nikki Robert’s husband gets killed in a car crash leaving his partner to carry on their business which is helping addicts recover. I don’t want to give away spoilers but you find out that the au pair who went missing 10 years ago ties into what’s going on right now. Drugs are the major thrust of this book including the Mexican cartel. Nikki even hires a PI to help her get answers because she feels the two detectives hired to her case are not getting her any results. There are so many twists and turns in this book, that I couldn’t put it down. Very well written and the author really connects all the aspects of the book and the corruption that is going on. I want to thank net galley for this ARC I received for a honest review. It was a terrific read. (less)
