Kaleb is flirting with Emerson’s best friend, Lily, at a masquerade ball but his (failing) moves are interrupted when Jack Landers, the man who drew Emerson into the whole Hourglass mess, timeslips in and tries to kill him, before disappearing just as quickly. But Kaleb’s never been able to see time travellers before. Are his powers expanding, or is it something else? Then the Hourglass is issued an ultimatum, and Kaleb has much bigger problems. Either they find Jack and the research he’s stolen on the time gene, or time will be turned back to before Emerson saved Kaleb’s father. Emerson will go back to her unstable state in time, and Kaleb’s father will be killed as Jack planned, and all of time will be altered with devastating results. Kaleb, Emerson, Michael, Lily and the other Hourglass recruits have no choice, but to use their powers to find Jack. But where do they even start? And even if they succeed, it may not be enough. . . .
