As usual, Misty has written an exceptional, spellbinding story. It took me less than two days to read it, because I wanted to find out what happened next. Not only does she have the magic of knowing how to pace her scenes, but her character's become real. It seems that God gives them plenty of trials, but keeps showing up at the right time and place. This story shows the importance of faith and the strength it offers to those who accept it. Often prayer and trust in Him, are all they have to give each other. She also weaves in a gentle and deep abiding love for one another and in the Lord.
Misty has a way of capturing you in the story and wanting more. What happens to Ingrid and Micah? What happens to Joanna and her son Samuel? I hope Misty does leave us wondering for too long. By far, Misty is the best Christian writer, I've had the privilege to follow.
This book is a heart stopping story of a young woman, Ingrid Chastain, that traveled a long distance with her father and caregiver to deliver vital vaccines for smallpox in the Montana territory. Ingrid was raised by her father and when a college reached out to the good doctor he decided to travel from their home in Boston to Montana to deliver and assist in the administering of the much needed vaccine. Little did Ingrid know when their journey began that her whole world would change. The trip was difficult to say the least but one she put her trust in God to see them through.
When Micah Bradley lost his family to smallpox he gave up his practice as a doctor and moved to the Rocky Mountains of the Montana territory to get away from everyone and suffer in his pain alone. When he heard a noise and investigated where that noise came from his world would change as well. Finding Ingrid on the side of a mountain with lots of injuries he was forced to go back to doctor mode. Could he save this woman? And better yet could she save him?
Ingrid and Micah face so many trials along their way and with Ingrid's faith Micah finally sees he must trust in the Lord to see them through. I was on edge several times reading this book. There are so many times I didn't think they would survive and I wanted to skip ahead to see the outcome but held fast and read page by wonderful page and made this journey with them. I love this author, she always takes us on a journey back in time to feel what the characters would have felt and to paint a picture with her words that gives us a clear picture of the majestic beauty but also the dangers the characters saw and faced to live during this time. I could feel their pain and rejoiced in their victories. I watched as their love for one another grew and was rooting for their happily ever after. This book is so well written and shows us to put our trust in the Lord no matter how large or small our problem is. Very well written and so worth the read.
I received an early copy from Netgalley to read and review with my honest opinion. I loved this book and I highly recommend it. 5 stars for me.
I thought this book started out with a white knuckle, nail biting scene from the beginning. It draws you into the drama of survival and as a reader I found myself rooting for the characters to overcome the obstacles. This book does have a strong streak of romance, which kept the book interesting. I would recommend it for any age level or reader.
What an amazing book! This book is full of adventure, drama and romance. The author makes the book come to life with her words and it plays out like a movie while your reading. It is very well written and teaches us that our life is in God's hands and He will be with us always. Once you starting reading this book you don't want to stop, you just have to know what happens next.
This is a very engaging story about frontier medicine. Ingrid is traveling with her father (a doctor and researcher) to deliver much needed smallpox vaccine to a mining community in Montana. A wagon accident in the mountains leaves Ingrid alone and at the mercy of a mountain man that finds her. The mountain man is a doctor that has been living as a trapper in the mountains since his wife and daughter died of smallpox under his care. They team up to deliver the vaccine.
I have never read anything by this author before but she is going on my favorites list!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
HOPE'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN by MISTY M BELLER is a Christian historical romance novel that takes place in Montana territory in 1866.
When Dr Micah Bradley comes across Ingrid Chastain, who is the victim of an accident on a treacherous mountain trail, he is running from something and she is running towards something. Micah is forced to give up his solitary existence as a mountain man and use the medical skills he vowed never to use again, and Ingrid is determined to fulfil her father's mission to deliver smallpox vaccine to Settler's Fort, in spite of her injuries.
The author speaks of Gideon in the Bible, who had no strength of his own but relied on God's supernatural strength. This theme runs through the story.
It is a most enjoyable read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
This was definitely an enjoyable read from start to finish. An amazing journey filled with adventure, romance, near death experiences, an avalanche and the unfailing truth of God's promise to give strength to the weak. Ingrid and Micah, where a delight to read about along with the struggles they each went through. I love her strength and her heart and it endeared her to me from the start. Even through the pain of loss, her heart was set on helping a community ravaged by smallpox. And Micah, dealing with his own demons and feelings of inadequacy having lost his family to smallpox and finally the peace he found when he finally let go and trusted God to handle his problems.
The message that rang true was God always gives strength to the weak like he did for Gideon.
It was fun to see their feelings for one another grow, rooting for them through every struggle and rejoicing at their happily ever after.
An added bonus was Samuel and his mother Joanna. His chatter makes your heart smile.
I enjoyed every part of this story and highly recommend it.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for a free copy of this book. I was in no way expected to give a favourable review.
Wow! The attention to detail in the descriptions in this book is amazing. The author has a way of creating the scene that just pulls you in. Loved seeing Micah and Ingrid’s growth as individuals and as a couple. I especially appreciated the spiritual walk Micah went on. Very sweet, well written, historical romance.
'I learned long ago trusting God to help never makes things better. It only makes me weaker.'
Micah Bradley has lived alone in the Montana wilderness for 5 years now, ever since smallpox took his wife and daughter. He couldn't save them although he was a doctor. He comes across a wagon accident and finds all dead but one woman, who has a broken femur. He does all he can to save her, but when she asks him to transport the smallpox vaccines her doctor father was taking to a nearby fort, he balks. How could God want him to do such a thing after the loss he's suffered from this disease? He's willing to take the woman to the fort a few weeks' journey away, but this favor she's asked? He is not willing to even think about it. Ingrid Chastain endures horrible pain after Micah sets her leg but can't seem to get him to see the importance of getting the vaccine to the fort, even if it will save many lives. Can she trust God to work on Micah's heart?
Misty Beller begins this book in a powerful way. Her imagery is very strong and evocative to the reader. I was pulled in immediately and my attention never wavered at all during the book. These people endured much during this time of heartache and pain. Prominent in this book is the importance of surrender to God, even when it might mean great pain and even greater heartache. Her characterizations are vivid and her descriptions of the setting are wonderfully done. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Recommended.
*My thanks to Bethany House Publishers for a complimentary copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
Ingrid Chastain readily agreed to accompany her father to deliver vaccines to a mining town in the Montana Territory. She never could have anticipated a terrible accident would leave her alone and badly injured in the wilderness. When rescue comes in the form of a mysterious mountain man who tends her injuries, she's hesitant to put her trust in this quiet man who seems to have his own wounds.
Micah Bradley left his work as a doctor after unintentionally bringing home the smallpox disease that killed his wife and daughter. But his self-imposed solitude in the wilds of Montana is broken when he finds Ingrid in desperate need of medical attention, and he's forced to face his regret and call on his doctoring skills once again.

Ingrid is left alone with a broken leg and rib in the mountains of Montana after an accident that killed her father. They were on there way to deliver small pox vaccines to a settlement. Micah is running from life and God. He finds her and takes her to his hut. She begs him to help her take the vaccines to the settlement. After finally agreeing, he rigs up a sled to pull her on since she can't walk. They go through all kinds of difficulties getting to the their destination. I encourage you to read the book.
I was given this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Misty Beller has turned me into a reader of descriptions with her mountain stories. She has wonderful strong characters and a compelling story but her descriptions pull you in. I feel like I’ve experienced the cold, the tired and the worry with the characters. Don’t miss this story of hope and determination.
Book isn't out yet so I can't post review
This is a story that will easily capture the reader's heart as one can picture Ingrid's journey. The characters' thoughts and emotions speak loudly The author paints a vivid picture in such detail that readers will feel that they are on the journey themselves. Micah's struggles with his own faith is real and relatable. Ingrid's faith and courage to complete her mission is admirable. Readers will love this amazing story! Highly recommended!
Hope’s Highest Mountain
By Misty M. Beller
Ingrid Chastain decides to travel with her father to deliver vaccines to a small town in the Montana Territory. Winter is approaching and as the weather changes travel becomes riskier. The people who are suffering drives Ingrid and her father on however until a horrible accident upends their plans.
It has been years that Micah has been on the move. When he comes upon a wagon accident in the snow, he immediately switches into doctor mode. He thought he left doctoring in the past when his wife and daughter passed away from smallpox but his swift actions save the life of Ingrid Chastain.
Broken and alone Ingrid and Micah fight the elements to survive and get the vaccines to where they are needed.
My son started school a few weeks ago and is already sick. I know it is just a common cold but after reading this story I am grateful for the advances in not only medicine but travel. This story takes place in the wilds of Montana. Painstakingly hiking mountains and ravines Micah and Ingrid show the grit required to survive. It was ironic that I was snuggled warmly on my couch as I read this. I enjoyed the journey this book took and the few characters introduced along the way.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Ingrid Chastain is accompanying her father to Settler's Fort to deliver small pox vaccines to a doctor who needs them because of an outbreak. While traversing the mountainous territory, the mules pulling the wagon lose their footing when the wagon slips off the side of the trail. Her father, her maid, the driver of the wagon all have lost their lives, but Ingrid has only broken her leg.
She is found because a trapper finds the wagon and one of the mules. Micah is a man who is hiding from his past and the last thing he thinks he needs is a woman on his hands who has broken her leg, needing weeks of care. He once practiced medicine but quit when he couldn't save his wife and daughter from their bouts of small pox.
The story line of this book is a great plot idea, but the characters who populate the book tend to be preachy instead of quietly giving witness of God's grace. Every time Ingrid turns around, she's telling Micah about relying on God. That detracts from the story line and made the book less enjoyable for me. Three Stars.
This was my first Misty M Beller book, and while it was not all that engaging for me, I will try her writings again.
My thanks goes to Bethany House and NetGalley.com for providing the galley I read for this review.
This was an epic Christian romance read! There was so much packed into this one book, I'm not sure I can pick one chapter that was my favorite - it was all good. There are many lessons to learn here, and I think I fully understood each one. Unconditional healing, quiet forgiveness, perseverance in the face of adversity, belief that God will provide. Each lesson was packaged neatly through Misty Beller's writing to give the reader something to think about long after they're done reading. Very well done.
It's October 1866, in the Montana Territory, and winter has descended on the land. Ingrid Chastain, her father, and two others are bringing vaccines to Settler's Fort, a small mining town that is experiencing an outbreak of smallpox. In their struggle, their wagon overturns, and Ingrid is left alone with a broken leg and broken ribs in the middle of the wilderness. Mountain man Micah Bradley finds her and takes her back to his camp to keep her safe while she's healing. Micah is devastated from the loss of his family five years ago, and he has forsaken his relationship with God. However, Ingrid's determination and kindness pushes him to reconsider all that he has believed for many years. As they continue the journey Ingrid's father began together, along the way they find that God has never been far away at all.
Ingrid and Micah were very relatable and inspiring characters. They were written in such a way to represent two populations of Christians - the believers and the doubters. Ingrid is the believer, firmly putting her trust and faith in God, despite her recent loss. She focuses on the mission He gave her and less on what has been taken away. Micah is the doubter, believing that God allowed his family to die and so is not capable of generosity or compassion. He is stuck in the past and is unable to to move forward in his faith. While Micah heals Ingrid physically, it's Ingrid who winds up healing Micah spiritually. She bring his attention to the good things and brings his way of thinking more to the positive. I loved reading the transformation of their characters and it was easy to see why they made a good couple.
This is the first book I have read by Misty Beller, and it certainly won't be the last! I look forward to more in the future.
Wow! What a great historical fiction book! Hope's Highest Mountain tells the story of Ingrid and Micah in the wilds of Montana territory. As Ingrid learns to trust a stranger, Micah is forced to return to his doctoring skills. As they learn to trust one another, they embark upon a journey neither could have ever imagined. Great read!
Hope’s Highest Mountain is a romantic and adventurous historical Christian novel, about two people brought together by tragedy who face the worst of accidents and the elements to bring healing to a community. Touching moments and breath-taking scenery provide the perfect backdrop for this story.
Ingrid Chastain knew God was calling her and her father to deliver vital smallpox vaccines to a struggling community in rugged Montana Territory. She just didn’t realise it would cost the ultimate sacrifice. When Micah Bradley discovers a wrecked wagon, with three dead and one badly injured woman, he knows he must do what he can to save her - even if it means drawing upon the doctoring skills he left behind him after the death of his wife and daughter. As Ingrid recovers under Micah’s dutiful care, she presses him to continue her purpose to deliver the vaccines - but the journey will test their faith, their health and their fledging relationship.
Misty M. Beller has done a wonderful job of creating a beautiful story in Hope’s Highest Mountain. From the glorious scenery and rugged weather to the characters, who each speaks of a great love and strength. Micah is physically strong. He can wrestle carts up hills, survive the wilderness, carry Ingrid, fix her wounds and doggedly continue on. But his heart is hurting from the guilt and grief he carries from his wife and daughter’s deaths. Ingrid is spiritually strong. Despite the deaths of her beloved father and maid, despite the horrific injuries she has sustained and the pain, despite everything she has faced, she trusts God and sees that he has a plan for her even in such terrible conditions. But she is physically weak and injured and must rely on Micah to help her complete her journey.
As Micah and Ingrid make their journey, they encounter two other characters, both who are hurting from grief and who need physical assistance. They join Micah and Ingrid and together the four continue their journey toward healing - both by bringing the vaccine and through finding God’s love and mercy.
Hope’s Highest Mountain is a touching story and the start of what promises to be a wonderful series.
The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
My first immediate thought for Hope's Highest Mountain is AWWWWW.
I've always been a huge fan of Beller's huge-hearted heros and endearing heroines.
This book was no different; plus there was a cute little dog thrown in. :)
Ingrid Chastain had this immense amount of strength and trust for her God. It made me question my own amount and realize that maybe I put too much trust in my own limited abilities, and not enough in my limitless God.
I loved the faith content and this undying trust in God.
My heart ached for Micah Bradley who still struggled so much with his past and fear.
I believe Beller's relatable characters could inspire many people with similar experiences and heartache.
Plus there was an amazing story in there with Beller's usual incredible writing abilities.
The way she describes the rugged land of Montana so beautifully, you'll never lack a picture in your mind of the scene.
I'm a huge fan of her descriptions and lovable characters.
This book gave me some much needed encouragement and I believe it will for you too!
An intriguing and heartfelt story about frontier medicine and some of the challenges and heartaches that went with that. There is a lot going on in this story, it does a good job of bringing together two emotionally wounded people to find new hope and love. A lovely written story set with the backdrop of wild Montana mountains.
What an exciting read Beller has created in this book. I love all of Beller’s writings and this one especially. It is October 1866, in the Montana Territory, and winter has descended on the mountainous land. Ingrid Chastain, her father with two others are bringing vaccines to Settler’s Fort, a small mining town that is experiencing an outbreak of smallpox. In this treacherous weather their wagon overturns, and Ingrid is injured and unconscious, her father and the others are dead…..Five years ago Micah Bradley lost his wife and child to smallpox. He became very bitter toward God and gave up his practice as a doctor and moved to the Rocky Mountains to get away from everyone to suffer in his grief alone. Hearing a noise and searching to see where that noise came from, he finds the wreckage of the wagon. Finding Ingrid barely alive, he was forced to go back to doctoring against his will after he pulls her from the wreckage…….Thus begins a harrowing experience for Micah and Ingrid. Fighting against the cruel elements of the mountains and the desires of their hearts, pulling against, while working together makes a most interesting read. This book is filled with adventure, romance, near death experiences, an avalanche and the unfailing truth of God’s promise to never leave nor forsake us…… Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for a free copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Last spring I read a book by Misty Beller and was impressed by the author's ability to make me feel connected to her characters, how she used man versus nature scenarios to create tension, as well as how her characters wrestled with their faith. This last point resonated with me because I feel like mainstream Christian fiction is becoming watered down (more subtle and/or secularized).
All of the elements that initially drew me to this author are present in her new release, Hope's Highest Mountain. I'm particularly pleased with how she stayed true to herself by continuing to write characters who trust in or learn to rely on God. This was a concern I had when I learned Ms. Beller, previously an indie author, had signed with a traditional publishing house.
As for the characters in this story, both Ingrid Chastain and Micah Bradley possess a number of endearing qualities and I enjoyed how their affection for one another grew out of mutual admiration rather than mere physical attraction. Micah stood apart from Ingrid, Joanna, and Samuel chiefly due to his compelling backstory and marked growth. While I liked Ingrid, I feel the overall story would have been stronger if she had been presented with a few flaws of her own.
The reason for the three-star (good) rating is simply because I feel like I have already read this story. It holds a number of similar elements to The Treacherous Journey— a grieving widower, harsh and seemingly insurmountable trek through the mountains, and a willful yet admirable female protagonist. A reader unfamiliar with Beller's earlier novel would likely rate this book more favorably.
I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley. The views and opinions expressed are 100% honest and my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC's 16 CFR, Part 255 Guidelines, concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising.
Hope's Highest Mountain is not only a story of hope midst pain and sadness, it is a story of strength, an inner strength forged through reliance on God. While most of us will never face the challenges faced by Ingrid Chastain as she traveled through the wilderness of Montana seeking to deliver vials of life-saving medicine, we will each encounter times when we need the sustaining strength that comes through trusting and relying on God. This story will inspire those seeking such strength.
Hope's Highest Mountain is well written. Beller paints beautiful mental images of Montana's mountain grandeur that invite feelings of fear and awe. She engages all of the reader's senses: the taste of simple trail fare, the iciness of wading through deep snow, the warmth of snuggling beneath heavy furs, the sounds of the forest, and the smell of sickness. I highly recommend this book and am grateful to have received a copy from Bethany House via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.
I can always count on a fantastic historical book from this author. This book takes one on a journey to the Montana territory. Exceptional details let you feel as though you are experiencing what is happening as well as enjoying all the beautiful scenery. Very well written. I loved the story of Micah and Ingrid. Highly recommend. I received an advance reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
Hope's Highest Mountain is an inspirational story of grief, faith, and perseverance. The characters grab your heart, and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Micah's spiritual arc is amazing. If you're looking for a lightning-bolt epiphany, you won't find one here. Instead, Beller gives Micah more of a quiet growth. This gradual strengthening of his faith fits Micah's quiet nature. It's more realistic because Micah had struggled for five years, so it would need to take more than a day. And the letters to Rachel gave me all the feels.
I also liked the subplot with Joanna and Samuel. I really hope we see Joanna again somewhere in the series. Actually, I hope we see all the secondary characters. Beller did a great job of giving us enough of a glimpse to love them but still keeping enough secrets that leave the reader wanting more. Isaac, for example, is someone I hope is a main character in a future book. He and his father were a great addition the novel's cast, even if they don't appear until about the last third of the novel. Then again, I think that just shows Beller's genius. Isaac and his father come in right when Ingrid and Micah need them, endearing you to them even more.
Some parts of the book did feel a bit slow. For the most part, the character arcs kept the story from dragging too much, but there were times when the novel felt a bit sluggish. Then there was the fact that sometimes Ingrid seems too perfect. She does have a few flaws that stuck out to me, but I kept waiting for there to be some major conflict between the two where they have to resolve some issue. Instead, it's almost like Micah sets her on a pedestal.
Despite that, I still liked the book. While not one of the my favorite Misty M. Beller releases, it still deserves a place on the shelf.
Misty M. Beller's newest series (Heirs of Montana) - book #1 "Hope's Highest Mountain" is a number one hit! Love the adventure and romance.
After a tragic accident, Ingrid Chastain is discovered by Micah, a rugged mountain man. Getting her to safety and delivering the vaccine that is meant for a mining camp is all that Micah is willing to do. They encounter much danger in the mountains, the weather is hazardous with snow and freezing temperatures. But along the way they make discoveries about themselves and each other. Through letters from the past we also learn about Rachael and her family and how they connect to other characters.
I have loved all of Ms. Beller's books and am excited to start this new series. I received this book from the publisher and all opinions are my own.
This story will sweep you into the mountains where a strong woman is determined to complete the task she and her father set out to do. Ingrid may be small in stature, but she's larger than life when it comes to compassion. I liked the evolution of Micah's character as he realizes nothing will stop Ingrid. He's the perfect hero for this story. The book moves along at a clip, as unfathomable circumstances surround the characters. Folks in that time period survived things we can't even ponder as Misty Beller gives readers a glimpse into the days of the smallpox epidemic. If you enjoy historical fiction that challenges the characters, you'll love Hope's Highest Mountain. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Hope's Highest Mountain is a sweet romantic western tale of adventure, heartache, and faith weaved by Misty M. Beller, a relatively new author to me. I absolutely enjoyed this work and would definitely read more of Ms. Beller's writings. The overall themes of this book were excellent, the characters were believable and had relatable struggles; the Christian faith was expressed in a clear, yet not overpowering way, and the challenges faced by the characters were very intense and yet unique. I appreciated each of the character's individual struggles and challenges, the way they came together to survive and their pulling together of their strengths.
Ingrid Chastain is the main character of the story, a young woman who is traveling the west with her physician father to deliver much needed vaccines to a small town in Montana Territory. Due to a tragic accident, Ingrid is left on her own in a very difficult and dangerous situation. Not only does she have life threatening injuries, but Ingrid is also in the middle of a wilderness with an unlikely chance of running into anyone whom could help her.
Into the scene walks Micah Bradley, a man with deep wounds from his past and a failing grip on his faith in God, yet with just the right skills to help Miss Chastain. Micah Bradley had worked as a doctor for many years, but after family tragedy struck, he abandoned his profession and society at large--deciding to live in the wild. His decision very well may have saved Miss Ingrid Chastain's life. As Micah uses his doctoring skills to help Ingrid, he discovers that her mission (to help the small town with a smallpox epidemic) is directly opposed to his.
Throughout the dangers of the wilderness, the struggle to stay alive and heal, as well as the dangerous weather conditions, Micah and Ingrid must somehow cooperate despite their vast differences. Micah is afraid to fail anyone and trusts in his own strength and intelligence in order to provide and protect those in his care. However, when many dangerous situations arise that test Micah's limits, Ingrid's faith surprises and supports both of them. Will Micah overcome his grief and fear of losing people he cares about in order to draw near to God and to develop a friendship with others, especially Ingrid. What will happen to the village that desperately needs the smallpox vaccines? Will they make it? Will Micah and Ingrid survive?
Overall, I was very impressed with this work, especially the way that each of the characters were developed and faced their individual challenges, griefs, pasts, and futures. This was a very intriguing, entertaining, wholesome, and romantic adventure. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of Ms. Beller's writings.
Oh wow, where to start?? I don't know if I have the words to do this novel justice. This was not my first read by Misty Beller, and it most certainly will not be my last. I'm already impatiently waiting for the next one now!
This novel was a perfect blend of historical fiction mixed with wilderness survival. With a cast of wonderful characters and a setting that seemed to throw every imaginable hurtle their way, the result is an adventure you won't soon forget. The heart and urgency of their mission was palpable and the danger was always lurking.
The romance was craftily written into the storyline through the moments that held the readers' hearts the most. It flowed out of mutual, genuine concern for each other's well-being instead of shallow romantic fluff. I appreciated that while it was pretty evident that there was always "chemistry" between them, it wasn't until they got to know one another and experienced each other's character that the real feelings of love started to bud. This was an easy romance for me to swoon over.
I appreciated reading a story that was so richly seeped in selfless ambition. Even as they wrestled with very real and heartbreaking emotions, they were still able to see past themselves to consider one other. I adored how Joanna and Samuel joining the ranks only seemed to sweeten the endearment. It was heartwarming to see a story so heavily steeped in people pushing themselves to the limits in an attempt to save the lives of others they don't even know.
There is so much more that I could say about this story but I don't want to give anything away. I absolutely devoured it and can't wait to see where the author goes next in the series. You can believe that as soon as it's announced I'll be adding it to my TBR pile. HIGHLY recommend!!

Ingrid has a beautiful and strong Christian life. She has a strength and peace in her life even though she lost her father and has many other difficult odds to deal with. This book was so hard to put down. The reader is left wondering what will happen next. Thank you to netgalley and"Hope's Hightest Mountain " is the first book in the Hearts of Montana series and is an historical fiction book by Misty Beller . It takes place in the 1800's. Ingrid Chastain sets out in the mining area of Montana with her father on a wagon to help small pox patients. Her father is a doctor and He knew a doctor who needed the vaccines for his patients. Unfortunately on the way to deliver the vaccines they had a terrible wagon accident. Ingrid was the only survivor . She was in an isolated and cold area in the mountains. She was found by Micah Bradley who was a doctor. He helped her with her severe injuries. He was very kind to her. He carefully took care of her broken leg. Even though Ingrid had bad injuries she was very eager to get the vaccines to the people in Settler's Fort. Settler's Fort is very remote and not easy to get to. Small pox was a deadly disease . Micah lost his former wife and daughter to small pox. Will they make it to deliver the vaccines? Will they survive the difficult conditions in these isolated mountains? This book has wonderful descriptions of the challenges during the 1800s with small pox. The characters and so well written. the publisher for allowing me to read and review this wonderful book. I will be posting my review on facebook, my blog, CBD.com , Goodreads. I will also share my review with the church staff.
‘Your right hand will hold me fast’ Psalms 139:10b
The author has done it again - another fabulous book that draws you in and keeps you engaged until you are finished! The attention to detail found me shivering, holding my breath and almost crying out loud as I travelled with them through the mountains. Ingrid, her father and maid set out from Boston for Settler’s Fort with smallpox vaccines, never expecting the trials ahead. They only have eyes on the goal of helping stem the tide of this horrible disease. Rocky paths, caves, snow and more snow, avalanche, accidents and death were just some of the adventures experienced. Micah is a doctor that has given up doctoring and is existing in the mountains. Will he learn from Ingrid’s faith as she states ‘Relying on God fills me with an inner strength much greater that I could posses on my own’?
I must admit I started this book with the plan to accomplish some other things today as well. That did not happen as it was impossible to set this aside until I knew how it ended.
This ARC was received through Bethany House Publishers, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. The 5 star rating, comments and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
This is a tender, sweet tale of two people who are thrown together by a tragic event and how they must survive and trust the Lord. The writing transported me to the mountains in this survival tale where you can't help but admire the pioneers who came before us.
In my opinion this book was a bit slower paced than I normally like, and to me the romance didn't grab me.
However the story was well told and I like how it put emphasis on the power of prayer when we are called upon to pray.
Very nice.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley. My opinions are honest and entirely my own.
Micah Bradley has isolated himself in the Montana mountains for almost 5 years. He has been grieving the loss of his wife and child who died on his watch. He was a Dr. who couldn’t help his loved ones survive a smallpox outbreak. He hears a scream “…”something was wrong. He could feel it in his bones. The same way he used to know his doctoring skills were about to be summoned, even before a pounded knock sounded on his door.”
He discovers a tragic sight. Everyone is dead except for a young lady whose critically wounded. Micah helps this woman the best he can. He hopes she wakes up soon then again, he doesn’t look forward to telling her she’s the only survivor. Ingrid has put her faith in God, left everything to go on this trip of mercy; bringing the vaccines to help this remote town with her father. She struggled with the tragic news Micah gave her. She is determined now, more than ever to deliver this medicine. Her father’s death wouldn’t’ be in vein. If they waited for her to heal completely it would be too late, by spring a whole village in Settler’s Fort could be wiped out by smallpox. She had to get Micah to go now.
Micah appreciates her determination, but he has to make her see that she is still vulnerable to collapse she had to rest to heal. Micah comes to the end of himself, “surrendering all he has. Could he truly release Ingrid into God’s hands? Accept that whatever God chose would really be best? For her? For him?...He had to do this. Had to release everything to the Lord. He’d never have peace if he held back.” He prays, “She’s yours, Lord.”..”I am too!”
They seek a supernatural strength to make it step by step. What the enemy meant to destroy them God uses to change them from the inside out. Along the way they meet a woman, Joanna and her young son, Samuel. They join them on their quest. None of these individuals realize what an impact this trip would have on their lives. The characters battle severe weather conditions and a treacherous mountain terrain. Against all odds this little caravan pushes on.
Nothing could have prepared them for this encounter with nature. Just when you think they’ve battled their last attack from nature, another one heads their way. It was like that right up to the very end.
This book made me appreciate the times we live in. I can drive in a covered vehicle drive anywhere in a short period of time to get medical help. It also made me appreciate the fact we have vaccines that have eradicated smallpox. No cases of naturally occurring smallpox have happened since 1977. This is a story of loss, love, hope and faith. Ingred and Micah, Joanne and Samuel have a change of heart and a fresh outlook on life, love and God by the end of their journey. So, will you!

This was my first book by Misty M. Beller and I REALLY enjoyed it! My expectation was that this was just going to be a little easy read in between a few other books I was reading...and it turned out to be so much more than I expected. The vulnerability of Ingrid as she is injured in a terrible accident creates a connection between her and her rescuer. As she struggles to survive, her hero is dedicated to doing all that he can to keep her alive, even if it brings up difficult memories of his own. His battle with a form of PTSD due to his experiences in trying to bring healing to those in need challenges him mentally and emotionally, even as he is battling the physical elements of being on a mountain with winter approaching. While these characters began as strangers, they had to learn to trust each other with their lives. I liked the plot twists as well, especially as Ingrid began to heal and wanted to complete the mission she set out to do. Ingrid's stubbornness was a character trait that I have mixed thoughts about. At times, it certainly served its purpose in the story...other times it was kind of irritating ; ). But the overall outcome was definitely one I liked. I could definitely see myself reading this one again!
**I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in order to give my honest opinions, which I did.**
Misty M. Beller is a new author to me. I enjoyed her writing style. Her faith elements were strong, and she wove prayer into her story frequently and effortlessly. While I had to suspend my disbelief at some of the survival aspects of the book, I enjoyed the nonstop action and adventure. The main characters were brave and determined and they had great chemistry. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy frontier romance with a lot of "man verses nature" elements.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley for the purpose of review.
Hope's Highest Mountain is another wonderful historical romance novel by Misty Beller. Having read several of her other books, I was looking forward to reading this one and found it to be as enjoyable as I'd hoped. It is a beautiful and captivating story of unexpectedly finding love in a very stressful and difficult situation and of recognizing the importance of learning to trust--trusting God to work things out and trusting one's heart. The writing style is graceful and flows smoothly as the author tells the story of characters who have to work together, trusting virtual strangers with their lives, to complete a daunting task. The author has infused the story with page-turning, nail-biting action during a treacherous mountain trip that is beset by one trial after another. Realistic situations and wonderfully descriptive scenes all work together for a delightful story. Threaded throughout the book is a faith in God--the God who gives us strength when we need it the most and the One who alone can mend broken hearts and bring hope. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of Ms. Beller's books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.
Such courageous! I loved how much courage Ingrid showed in facing dangers and hardships in the Montana territory. Ingrid's father was taking medicine to a remote village when disaster overtakes them. Ingrid's faith in God never seemed to waiver! Micah was courageous in spite of temporarily losing his faith in God. Hope's Highest Mountain is a book you don't want to put down. I have loved all of Misty Beller's books. I recommend Hope's Highest Mountain to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. I received a copy of Hope's Highest Mountain from the author and Net Galley. This is my honest opinion.
What makes this book so good is how detailed the author makes the historical setting so vivid. As the accident happened and people were thrown from a wagon it was easy to understand the terror they must have felt. I loved how Ingrid became a very strong and determined woman to finish the job her father set out to do. She thought little of her injuries and her grief as she lay waiting for someone to come along and rescue her that fateful day. The terrain she was trapped in was dangerous as the snow came down with an icy chill in the air.
Micah didn't happen upon Ingrid by accident. He was guided there by God and and guided Micah and Ingrid to safety. Their journey was tiring and a struggle as Micah had to keep Ingrid as comfortable as he could. I liked the back story on Micah and his loss that he hasn't gotten over yet. He kept his heart close to his chest but there were glimpses of feeling brewing for Ingrid. The setting is well executed by the description of that time period. the author gives us historical facts that help us imagine what it was like during the late 1860's.
The story is so well written that I felt like I was watching a movie as the words became pictures in my head. I could feel the pain Ingrid went through as her injuries prevented her from helping Micah as they traveled. Along the way they run into a woman and her child. Their addition to the story showed how God provided when they needed shelter and food. The faith element is strong in the story and delivers truths about trusting God and never giving up.
I have to mention the wonderful dog in the story. He melted my heart at his devotion to Ingrid and how he took to the boy right away. His steady faithfulness warmed my heart. There is nothing more precious than an animal that stays by your side during the good times and the bad. The author gives readers a powerful story of overcoming obstacles, trusting and finding your way back to God.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
(4.5 stars) - A beautiful story of life after death
Micah has been living in a self-imposed exile in the Colorado wilderness when he finds the wreck of a fallen wagon. Ingrid is the only survivor. Her determination to finish delivering vials of smallpox vaccine to the town that desperately needs it sends them on an incredibly difficult & dangerous journey together.
During that time, they start to get to know one another and become increasingly closer as their relationship develops under the extreme circumstances of their trip.
Micah has considerable bitterness toward God for the loss of his wife & daughter. Ingrid has a very strong faith & trust in God even thru her pain. He helps heal & protect her physically, and she helps do the same for him spiritually & emotionally.
It's a very touching and inspirational romance. It gets a little bit mystical at the end which some will love and others not so much, but I certainly enjoyed it!
*Clean romance level: sweet kisses
*Religion: overtly Christian
I was immersed into the action and the adventure found in Hope’s Highest Mountain by Misty M. Beller. The courage and hope that Ingrid had after a tragic accident in the rugged terrain of Montana in the middle of winter gave way to her inner strength and faith she held dear. When she realized she was being nursed back to health by a former doctor Micah, she was determined that the delivery of the precious cargo he had salvage from the accident be delivered. There were so many twists and turns in the story with snowstorms, misfortunate with new injuries and even unexpected provisions that kept the story moving at a rapid pace. The ups and downs of traveling in the hazardous winter conditions of Montana was so vivid I felt like I was in the mist of a winter storm The hope that Ingrid clung to brought soul searching to life for Micah, as he had been hiding away to cope with his heartbreak of grief. I enjoyed the letters he had written that brought more insight into his past that interspersed in the story. Ingrid and Micah’s journey to Settler’s Fort will have readers enthralled to see how their lives and others might be rescued. I appreciate the traits found in Ingrid with knowing her hope was truly in God. Beller’s story is not preaching but a gentle reminder that God is hope, love, peace and joy when a life is surrendered to Him despite being in the valley or highest mountain top.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, NetGalley and the author for the book tour. I was not required to write a positive review but have shared my own personal thoughts.
I went on a hallowing adventure in the 1800s through Hope’s Highest Mountain. Ingrid along with her father and two others experienced a wagon crash while traveling to Settlers Fort. Ingrid was the only survivor and was found near death by a mountain man, Micah. With a broken leg and ribs, Micah struggles to rescue her and help get her on the road to healing. Her only thought is to get the vials of life saving medicine to the doctor in Settlers Fort.
Traveling on foot, dragging Ingrid in a “sling” he tries to fulfill her request. Through mountains, snow and winter weather they struggle with little food and near frostbite conditions. They pick up a small boy and his mother after her husband passes away. So on they go, day after day, week after week. If obstacles could hinder their travels it happens to this group in spite of all their prayers.
I admired the strength and fortitude in everyone of these characters. I even found myself praying for them as I read. Now that’s realism in the best of books! Grab a blanket, a hot cup of coffee and settle in for a great read that will leave you admiring the strength of the travelers during this time period of American history.
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise. All opinions are my own.
What an amazing read! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I couldn’t wait to see what happened in the end! The adventure was always there and the romance that built...was heartwarming. To see how tragity led to his aloft nature and her grace that led to a redemption.
Hope's Highest Mountain begins the new series, Hearts of Montana. I have loved the every one of Misty M Beller’s books and I believe this one is by far my favorite. I loved how she vividly detailed the time period and setting. I felt like I was right there with Ingrid and Micah.
I would give Hope’s Highest Mountain one hundred if I could. I highly, highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy well written and clean historical fiction.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Thank you to Bethany House for the free review copy. All opinions are my own.
What a wonderful story this was. It was full of hardships, grit, and so much grace. I loved how the entire plot of the story was dangerous and tough. The two characters in this book have both faced hardships, and after they meet, they must also endure even more hardships together.
Beller did a fantastic job of setting up the setting of this book. She wrote with such detail that I could feel the cold and endurance needed for these characters to trek through snow covered mountains for weeks to get to their destination. I also liked the development of the characters. It took time for there to be trust built and each was in their own place when it came to their walk with God.
If you’re a fan of historical fiction, I highly recommend this. With each character, Christ can be found in different ways because they are all in different places, which makes it relatable to a lot of readers.
Ingrid Chastain travels with her father to Montana Territory to carry life-saving smallpox vaccine to the people of Settler’s Fort. Everything about the trip turns out wildly different than she ever would have imagined.
Her great losses draw her closer to God and the example she sets inspires Micah Bradley to discover a faith he never knew.
Sweet romance that reads like a chapter from Les Miserable—one disaster after another (some of them seem a little contrived).
I have read all of Misty Beller’s mountain wilderness novels, and I wondered how she could pull off another thrilling adventure story that didn’t seem to repeat stuff from the other books. Of course, we have snow and danger, but the characters and situation make this new one a winner. The plot may be similar since it’s a mountain journey through bad weather (man against the elements), but the tension rachets up and the stakes are high. Ingrid Chastain and her father were on a journey to deliver small pox vaccine to a needy community suffering a severe outbreak. Right away problems arise and we wonder if they will be successful. Micah Bradley, a trapper who had been a doctor, comes upon them, but does he want to get involved? He’d been trying to escape his painful past by coming to Montana Territory, but now he must face what he’s been trying to avoid. I enjoyed the story and the characters it includes—they brought the story to life. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit.
I am a fan of Misty Beller and Hope’s Highest Mountain did not disappoint. Book one in her Hearts of Montana is set in Montana in 1866. Some of the plot line is familiar in that it has a doctor who left doctoring after losing patients but is now forced to use his doctoring skills. But even though it is a plot line that has been used before, the story is fresh, new and enjoyable. Beller includes a few twists that make you wonder which direction a romance is headed but that adds to the enjoyment of the book. I love that one character places reliance on God as a necessity for a spouse. Faith in God is evident in one character and gradually grows stronger in another. I look forward to reading book two.
I would not hesitate to add Hope’s Highest Mountain to my k-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for middle school and up.
I want to thank Celebrate Lit for the complimentary copy of Hope’s Highest Mountain. This is my honest review.
My Thoughts on Hope’s Highest Mountain:
Hope’s Highest Mountain is a great new novel by an author I love to read. She’s got a great way of drawing you into the story and holding you captive. I know when I sit down with one of her books that I’m there for the long haul. It’s not a book I’m going to read a few chapters and then get up and go on with my day. And it’s definitely not a book I’ll sit and read a few chapters before going to bed. I wouldn’t put it down till it was over!
This is no exception. Great book. I loved the characters. Since I’m a nurse I love pretty much any book that brings medicine or the lack of it or the discovery of it or the need for it into the storyline. I love books that have nurses or doctors in them.
So, of course, I loved this book with its mentions of smallpox and that Micah is a doctor. All too often it really does seem that one bad happening can cause someone to lose love for something they lived for before. This can be true for pastors as well as doctors.
I highly recommend this book and any book you can find by Misty Beller. They’re great and you’ll love them.
I love the tenacity of Ingrid and the reluctance but chivalry of Micah. He knows what he has to do and even though he really doesn’t want to do it because of the personal loss it could potentially mean he perseveres to get it done. Could he possibly find healing while helping Ingrid to heal? Can they together accomplish the tasks set out for them?
I’d love to find another book on these two characters or see them make guest appearances in other books to come.

I had not yet had the pleasure of reading anything by Misty M. Beller, but I was entranced by this novel and am eager to read more by her. The rugged and formidable Western setting was a great backdrop for the achingly tender romance in this story. The author does a breathtaking job of describing the harsh elements and the beauty of the mountains in the winter. I really liked Ingrid and her strong faith that allows her to survive tough trials. At times, I did think that her behavior was a little unbelievable, such as overcoming a tragedy with a family member early in the book remarkably quickly, but I do not think this detracted from her as a character. Micah is also a wonderful character, with strong qualities that make him a true hero. I think at times the plot feels repetitive with multiple tragedies that set Ingrid and Micah back again and again, but the ending wrapped up wonderfully. Overall, I did enjoy this book and look forward to more by this author!

This is the perfect book to curl up with on a chilly autumn night. The cover alone drew me in, and it being the first installation in the new Hearts of Montana series sealed the deal. Misty Beller’s work has been on my to-read list for a while now, and with “Hope’s Highest Mountain”, she just catapulted to the top of my list of must-read authors. With a plethora of Christian historical fiction set during the nineteenth century, it can be difficult to find a unique niche, but this book accomplishes it beautifully. Setting the story in the Montana mountains in late 1866 opens a fascinating world that I have not encountered before. Add to this the fact that a major part of the plot revolves around medicine and a treacherous journey through the mountains, and this is a novel that you won’t be able to put down!
There are so many ways in which Christian fiction can enhance our understanding of Biblical truths and how to apply them to our own lives, and “Hope’s Highest Mountain” is a splendid example of this. The best stories are those that can transcend their own settings to reach and connect with readers. Although this novel may take place 150 years ago, the struggles of the human heart haven’t changed. Ingrid Chastain, traveling with her father to deliver life-saving vaccines to a small town in the desolate Montana Territory, and Micah Bradley, a former doctor who now lives on his own in the wilderness, both have their share of heartache. However, their approaches are different and boil down to seeing things through the eyes of faith versus through the eyes of fear. As the narrative progresses, it is enlightening to witness their interactions and their methodologies, and it makes the reader reflect on their own attitude toward life.
Action-packed without being melodramatic, “Hope’s Highest Mountain” is a quick read, but one full of encouragement. Each character brings their own gifts and talents to the table, discovering truths about God and about themselves in the process. I particularly loved how the author shows that even those who are bedbound or very young have a divinely-given purpose to fulfill. Romans 8:28 remained at the forefront of my mind throughout the story, as even tragic and seemingly senseless situations serve as stepping stones to something good. I found the inclusion of a travois interesting and enjoyed the ingenuity of the characters in coming up with solutions to problems. I also appreciated that Beller did not fall back on a deus-ex-machina but instead created realistic resolutions and outcomes, and often unexpected ones, at that. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in survival tales, Christian historical fiction, historical romance, mountain tales, and stories full of faith and hope.

In her trademark style of bringing the challenges and danger of surviving the Montana wilderness, Misty M. Beller delivers the first book in a brand new series. Hope’s Highest Mountain is a story that thrives in the themes of man vs nature, surviving after the loss of loved ones, falling in love, and trusting God through both the valleys and the mountaintops life brings.
The stakes are high, the pace is fast, and you’re left wanting just a little more time with the characters when the story is over. It’s a good thing this is a series debut!

A few years ago I was introduced to Misty Beller's work. I have made sure that I have read every one of her books since then!!! So with anticipation I started to read her newest addition. I was not disappointed.
Ingrid was determined to accomplish her mission. GOD was by her side and with his guidance she would complete the task.
Micah never got over his grief. He had doubts and fears that he couldn't shake off on his own.
GOD is always there for us. He is ready and eager to hear our prayers. He can strengthen us. He can comfort us in times of need. Ingrid and Micah's survival was based on their faith and belief that GOD was with them in their struggles. He would not desert them.
I couldn't put this book down. I loved it. I enjoyed getting to know Ingrid and Micah. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received this free from Celebrate Lit to review.
Misty M. Beller's Hope's Highest Mountain is a well written and compelling story. The premise of the book is not one I normally select but the description and setting caught my eye. The author drew me in within the first few pages. I could feel Ingrid's wariness as she submitted to this strange man's care. He was so different than anyone she had ever met. Micah was a reluctant caregiver who overcame his own self doubts and made healing Ingrid's injuries his priority. Again and again he took up her challenges, first providing for her care and then forging a difficult path to deliver the vaccines. I felt the cold and shivered as Ingrid and Micah traveled under less than ideal circumstances through the mountains.
Throughout their journey Micah was tested. His courage and willingness to stretch his will to care for Ingrid was inspiring, considering his long held feelings of guilt over the deaths of his wife and daughter. Micah is my favorite character in this book. Ingrid's determination, while admirable, wasn't practical, considering her injuries and the terrible weather conditions for travel. However, Micah risked even more as he tirelessly planned and carried out their journey to the mining town. It was dangerous. She was severely injured and the two combined made the journey all the more treacherous. The inner turmoil for him was just as much a struggle. He escaped to this life of solitude for the very reasons she was tasking him with.
This book is for the reader who likes adventurous journeys with that little added touch of romance. I have not read and of Misty M Beller's books before, but this will no doubt not be the last. Many thanks to Bethany House for the opportunity to read this book for review. My opinions are my own.
Hope's Highest Mountain is the most adventurous romance I think I have ever read. I absolutely loved it! It begins with a devastating wagon accident high on the cliffs of the mountains in Montana.. Then the pair travel to take precious vials of medicine to a nearby town. Various adventures occur and the medicines finally reach their destination. It has an excellent ending, but it was definitely exciting to read!
It’s another fantastic Misty Beller journey through the Montana Territory in 1866. With her skillful blending of all the senses through her written words, the author paints a beautifully haunting landscape of the untamed west and provides a plot filled with unseen dangers on a wintery mountain and complex, relatable characters who will draw you deep into their past, fears, and hopes. If you enjoy historical fiction/romance, you will definitely enjoy this book. I can’t wait for the next installment in this Hearts of Montana series.
Ingrid is the daughter of a physician researcher who is traveling with her father to deliver small pox vaccines to a remote fort when tragedy hits her hard. Her sweet determination, loyal and tender heart, and unshakable faith draw the reclusive and guilt-ridden Micah our of his shell to help her in completing her quest. Micah is laden down with past failures and his journey to receiving God’s grace and mercy is raw, heart-breaking, and quite tangible.

Whenever I pick up a book by this author I know I'm in for a harrowing wilderness adventure! I grew up camping and backpacking with my family so I savor the epic feeling of being in the mountains, the sense of majesty but also isolation. It helps that I'm not the one going through the trials the characters are though! In this story it seems like a matter of what else could go wrong, but having read several of her other books, there are many other dangers that they didn't face, so it didn't feel like overkill. A fine balance is struck between character development, historical details, inner conflict, external obstacles, sweet romance, and spiritual growth- all throughout the course of the book. The characters feel like real people that come to life and I imagine that they authentically represent the pioneers, explorers, and mountain men and women of the era. Grit, determination, and faith see Micah and Joanna through the heartbreak and grief they endure as they traverse the rugged land, sacrificing to bring relief to the settlers who are suffering.
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
I have enjoyed reading a few of Misty Beller’s earlier books and I was super excited to be able to read this latest addition to her writing collection. I was not disappointed in the least! This story delivered all the drama and beautiful word imagery that I have grown to love from this author. I especially appreciate how she seamlessly weaves the gospel truth and a deep love of God into the characters in such an organic, natural way.
Vivid and realistic these characters fairly leaped off the page and into the room with me. While I’ve never broken a bone, I could easily empathize with Ingrid. Not only the loss of her mobility but the crushing loss of her father, her only parent, and her favorite companion. Thrust into a cold, unknown world, on a mission of mercy. Ingrid’s strength of character, her deep faith, and trust in God was a beautiful thing to behold. Micah too has had more than his fair share of heartbreak, he didn’t have a strong faith to fall back on, but he’s learning from Ingrid what it looks like to have strong faith. Even the delightful secondary characters bring charm and faith to this story.
Everything in this story blends so well. From start to finish this story is a delight to read! if you enjoy stories set on the western frontier in the 1800s, then I would encourage you to pick up a copy of this book to enjoy!
(I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.)
I am thoroughly convinced that author Beller is the Queen of writing rugged, against all odds wilderness and mountain adventures through any and all kinds of weather. If you have ever read one of her novels you know what I am talking about.
This one started with a doozy of an opening and I must say that the fortitude and courage of these people really is beyond what I can understand or would want to deal with myself. I know they are fictional, but like the pioneers and those that lived in the past with out all the electronics, electricity, cars, planes, central heating that we have today, how did they do it? My only conclusion is that we have become much too reliant on modern day conveniences while the past folks forged their way through mountains and desert and relied on their own ingenuity.
Ingrid Chastain is helping her father to deliver small pox vaccines to a small town before the population is wiped out. Before they make it to their destination the unthinkable happens. The before and the after of Ingrid's journey now looks very different. Now she is very reliant on a once doctor now turned mountain man to not only help her save the townspeople, but also to save her.
There was a lot of natural drama in this story line and I wondered how these two were going to get out of their circumstances when so much was stacked against them from the get go. But you'll have to read the story for yourself and go on this very dangerous and courageous journey with them.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
This is a new book by this author that starts a new series. This has been one of my favorite stories by this author. This one made me laugh and cry. I love the characters that they meet and join up with. There are many twists and turns before they get to where they are going. I am really looking forward to more books in this series about Montana. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
HOPE'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN is a story of hardship and adversity among the mountains in Montana during winter as a group of characters travel to deliver vaccines to a small, rural town. As these characters face challenging circumstances, grief and pain, they also find hope, friendship and love, as well as faith in God to see them through. Recommended to Christian historical romance readers!
This story started intensely from the beginning when catastrophe strikes, then mellows as the characters get to know each other and as they work through survival. I loved the characters from the start, especially as they worked together to form a strong team. The darling boy and puppy also added some tenderness and fun in contrast to the rugged mountain man and elements. The story had plenty of other climatic moments as these characters traveled and braced themselves against the harsh winter. The romance was sweet and believable. The faith element was strong, but also woven through the story well.
In the end, was it what I wished for? This is an engaging story full of faith, hope and friendship, leading to a sweet romance. Definitely worth the read!

Written with thoughtful detail, the setting is truly immersive and influential. From steep slopes, to treacherous paths, to hazardous weather conditions, the setting provides myriad opportunities for impactful scenes that captivate and enthrall.
Relevant and authentic, the characters in this novel are truly special. When faced with terrible danger and great hardship, they display immense bravery and determination. In their care and concern for others, they go far beyond expectations. Through peril, fear, and heartache, they persevere, their faith grows, and hope is kindled.
Page after page, Ms. Beller’s gift for storytelling is remarkably evident. Hope’s Highest Mountain is an utterly memorable, moving, and meaningful novel. Long will I treasure the hours that I spent savoring the story within its pages. I recommend it wholeheartedly to all readers.
*I was given a copy of this novel through NetGalley and CelebrateLit. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own.
"You're going to have to handle this one, too, Lord." But in truth, didn't God handle every step? Every breath. Every moment they lived.
I've always been a fan of frontier stories starting with the Little House on the Prairie books I read as a child. This is my first, Misty Beller book and I have now found a new favorite author, wow!
I loved so much about this book.
The daughter of a traveling doctor is left an orphan in life after her father's accidental death.
She traveled with him after her mother's death and they were the world to each other.
The tragedy that causes his death leaves her with a broken femur and unfortunately I can relate since my son broke his a week ago.
Ingrid is one strong woman, her faith is so strong despite all she has going against her.
Her mission is to get vaccines her father was set on delivering to a remote village that needs them so more deaths don't occur despite her painful injury.
Now Micah he has a backstory, sadness and bitter because of the loss of his wife and child he stops practicing medicine since he couldn't save them.
Micah is this handsome, work driven, outdoors mountain man but yet he's not afraid to let his tender side show around Ingrid.
This perilous journey was literally life or death depending upon the choices they made and the mistakes they may have made. The elements and wilderness were against them, Who was for they you may say? When Micah's spirits lagged with worry and responsibility Ingrid was the one faithfully strong. She had her faith they would survive this dangerous journey.
Micah's and Ingrid's romance was a slow burn and it didn't consume the story which I liked to see.
There was a romance but the story wasn't bogged down with it.
Micah's maturity in his faith walk was so encouraging. Ingrid's strong beliefs in her faith reawakens Micah's dormant faith and he starts he heal from his deep grief through Ingrid's ministrations.
I really need to read the REST of this author's books right now!

Hope's Highest Mountain was a quick read for me. It didn't take long for the beginning events to set up what was to come. Ingrid was involved in a wagon accident that resulted in her having a broken leg and rib and losing all of the other occupants of the wagon. Thankfully, Micah came upon the accident and was able to save Ingrid's life.
I expected more of the book to focus on Ingrid and Micah being alone together while she healed from her injuries before continuing the original mission of carrying the smallpox vaccines to a village in Montana. But Ingrid was passionate and determined to continue the journey as quickly as possible so that her father, her maid, and the wagon's driver didn't all die in vain. Micah has a history with the smallpox virus as he lost his wife and daughter to it five years prior. To be able to prevent others from suffering the way that they did is what motivates him to help Ingrid on her journey.
For the first part of their journey, Micah and Ingrid travel alone, but along the way, they run into a mother and son in need. Joanna and Sam really round out the story. I felt for Sam as he's about 4 (I believe) which is the age of my daughter. Traveling isn't very fun for a toddler with a lot of energy. I smiled at all of his interactions because he reminded me of my kids. I love how he was more aware than I think people give kids credit for a lot of times. I also related to Joanna as his mother. She's doing the best she can to survive and protect her son.
I loved the slow build between Micah and Ingrid. They were thrust into a team to accomplish a mission. They needed to lean on each other--granted Ingrid did a bit more leaning physically. Yet she provided a lot of emotional and spiritual strength for Micah. Ingrid was easy to love. She was so strong through all that she endured, both physically and emotionally. And their journey was not an easy one. It was packed with life-threatening situation after situation. Micah had a lot of emotional baggage to work through, but I was impressed with his choices and strength of character.
Hope's Highest Mountain was better than I expected. I enjoyed learning a little more about the smallpox virus and at the risk of incurring the wrath of the anti-vaxers, I'm so thankful for vaccines that ensure my own children don't face this illness. Ingrid and Micah both went through so much and I love to read about strong characters that overcome. And I can't wait to read more about Joanna and Samuel (potentially) as the series continues.Hope's Highest Mountain gets 4 Stars. Have you read Hope's Highest Mountain? What did you think? Let me know!
This is the first book by Misty I have read, but I can tell you it won’t be my last.
First I absolutely loved the setting. The dangers and beauty of the mountains, yes please! That added so much adventure to the story.
Next I loved the characters. Ingrid is a strong, loving woman. In the mist of her heartache she is determined to go on.
Micah is a wonderful hero. I love that he has to face his greatest fear, the one thing he never wanted to deal with again but really has no choice.
I also enjoyed the secondary characters we get to meet. I wonder if they might be in the second book? A book I can’t wait to read!
A copy of this book was given to me through the Celebrate Lit Team. All opinions are my own.
Can they survive winter in the Montana mountains?
I have to confess to having a few mixed emotions about Hope's Highest Mountain. Misty M. Beller is a new to me author but when I saw that the story was set in my home state I was intrigued, especially after seeing that gorgeous cover on the paperback version.
So, I'm just going to get the “mixed emotions” part out of the way. Simply, there were some factual issues that bothered me. Will the average reader notice them? I highly doubt it. And I really did enjoy the story itself. Those things just bugged me a bit. And, yes, as I said I did enjoy this story. I read most of it in a single afternoon and couldn't seem to stop turning the next page. I HAD to know if Ingrid and Micah would make it through the Montana winter storms to deliver the smallpox vaccine in time....
I think one of the things I liked the best about Hope's Highest Mountain was that author Misty M. Beller kept the action going. The characters were never left alone in endless dialogue, which can get pretty boring, for long. Danger was always a snowflake or a misstep away.
If historical romance in a dangerously beautiful setting is your thing, if you enjoy stories of strong women of faith, if you like tales of adventure, if you just want to escape from the hum-drum of modern life you should check out Hope's Highest Mountain, the start to Misty M. Beller's exciting new Hearts Of Montana series...
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Hope’s Highest Mountain written by author Misty Beller is a Christian Historical Romance and Book one in her new Hearts of Montana series. Set in the Montana Territory in 1866 this book caught my attention within the first few pages and kept it until the end.
Author Beller is a spellbinding storyteller. This book was well planned, researched, and very well written. Parts of the story were predictable but others had twists to keep readers on their toes.
This is the story of Ingrid, daughter of a doctor on his way out west to bring most needed smallpox vaccines. It is also the story of Micah, a formerly practicing doctor. Tragedy brings them together and keeps them needing each other.
The characters in this book were so likable. It seemed as if I had made some new friends. I particularly loved that it had a little boy and a small pet dog. They both brought something to the story. Through her writing the author brought them to life on the pages.
There is a strong Christian message throughout the book. For me that is a high priority in a Christian fiction book. I learned a few things, too, which is another priority on my list for what makes a book great. There are discussion questions to help with digging deeper into the faith message.
I highly recommend this page-turning novel. It is a very good book. I was entertained, inspired, and captivated. It gets a 4.5 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.
I have enjoyed reading many other books written by this author, so I was very excited to read this latest novel, which begins a new series. Hope’s Highest Mountain did not disappoint!
The novel was packed full of adventure and danger as the main characters made their way through the perilous Montana Territory. They battled injuries and sickness, as well as nature.
I really liked the characters in Hope’s Highest Mountain. I was able to connect to all of them right from the start. They felt so real, and the struggles they faced were enormous, yet they bravely pushed through pain and trials in order to deliver much needed vaccines to a community in need.
The author did a wonderful job of weaving in messages of God’s love and provision through the story, even as one of the characters questioned why God allowed certain events to occur. And I definitely adored the romance that blossomed between Ingrid and Micah. It was so natural and a very healing connection for both of them, as well.
I loved this story from start to finish and eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Maybe it was sad news in my life as I read it. Maybe I shouldn't get so involved in the character's lives when I read a book . Maybe it really was as sad as I thought it was. But whatever the maybe or combination of maybes, I found Hope's Highest Mountain by Misty M. Beller to be a sad book. Oh, but through all the sadness, there was the hope that things would get better and a happy ending would come. So I kept on reading as the characters kept on trying to complete their mission. And in the end, I was so thankful I read this book. Would I recommend it for someone who was looking for a happy, funny book to cheer them up? No, but I would recommend it for someone who needs hope and encouragement to continue doing what is hard even through grief and trials. Because that is what the characters in this book do, and even though it is a fictional story, one can learn a lot from the way the characters handle the hard times.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Hope’s Highest Mountain is first in a new series, and it starts off with a bang. I couldn’t stop reading. Ingrid and Micah might be my new favorite historical couple.
I love the details and setting always given in these novels. There’s always something to learn and a new perspective to discover.
There was a moment where Micah was carrying Ingrid, and everything kind of snapped into place. Micah carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, and that was given a real presence as he carried Ingrid. Instead of relying on God, Micah has turned his back after the loss of his wife and daughter.
Ingrid has the hope and peace of God, and she might be the one who finds a way to show Micah that God hasn’t left him behind.
I can always count on Misty M. Beller to take me on a journey – both spiritual and fictional.
The emotion brought out by these two characters was remarkable. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. You don’t want to miss it.
This was a lovely introduction to Misty’s books. I thoroughly enjoyed this historical romance. Micah and Ingrid were likable characters and the others we met along the way were great additions to the book. The storyline was an interesting and it moved well. It’s a quick easy read. Honestly based on the characters, there would be an easy next book, and it’s one I would enjoy as well. I will definitely be reading more of Misty’s books in the future!
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I always love when a book draws me I right from the very beginning! Hope's Highest Mountain did not disappoint! It started right out with a sense of suspense, and then immediately delved into loss with some main characters that were totally unexpected. Without giving any real spoilers, I was deeply impressed with how this author weaved through some serious loss and emotional (and physical) pain in a truly realistic fashion. Ms. Beller paid such intricate attention to detail in so very many emotions that I was truly glued to this book from beginning to end! I also found that in the many truly life threatening emergencies that continuously presented throughout the book, I didn't take one single character for granted. There was no sense that "this is a main character, so nothing will truly happen to them". I found that I did not know how each situation would end.
I believe that the reason this truly resonated with me is that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. Ms. Beller brought this very real truth home! She also never lost the element of hope, even in the most critical situations. Hope in Christ, that He does love us and plans to give us only the best. That may not always look like we think it will, or even should. This writing style was truly refreshing to me, and I could feel me love and trust for Christ grow as I read this fictional story. To me, this makes a truly gifted author. I look forward to seeking more by this author! Great job, and keep them coming, Ms. Beller!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Ingrid and her father are taking vaccines, but they have an accident on the way. She and the dog are the only survivors. Ingrid suffers a broken leg that will set her back. She is found by Micah, who is a doctor but no longer practicing. He takes care of her.
Ingrid and Micah set out to deliver the vaccines, but will they make it to where they need to be? I love the name of the dog. Of course, being winter time it is not the best traveling weather.
This is a new series. I am looking forward to reading more of the books. The author’s books are so good it takes a short amount of time to read.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.

This exciting book sucked you in the from
the beginning! A mountain man doctor running from his past, a lady he rescues are fighting against time and the elements to get vaccines to a community in need. This book was so immersive. You felt like you were right beside them when wind, snow, and sickness battled against them.
Lots of great faith content!

What I think you should know:
Hope’s Highest Mountain is a book set in 1866 Montana Territory. Ingrid Chastain as sheltered lady ventures west with her father, a doctor to deliver much needed smallpox vaccine, when tragedy strikes she finds her true strength in her determination to save lives. Micah Bradley lost his family to smallpox and stopped practicing medicine, will he choose overcome his past to help deliver the vaccine.
What I enjoyed about his book:
Ingrid goes from Boston Lady to sole survivor of her traveling party in the blink of an eye, however Misty M. Beller, the author wrote her as a character with strength and determination that it must have taken for people to survive to settle our country. Micah’s letters to Rachel were heartbreaking but add layer to Micah that made him such a deeper character.I loved the author’s description of the surroundings I felt like I was in the wilderness with the characters. I enjoyed this book and hope that we will be able to follow up on some of the other characters that we met in this book.
I received a complimentary copy for this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own
A harrowing wilderness journey of endurance and determination.
Ingrid Chastain is traveling with her father to deliver much need vaccines to the mountain dwelling folk, but a terrible accident leaves her injured and her father dead, leaving it up to her to complete their mission.
Micah is a drifter with a secret past, but when he finds Ingrid he knows that he must help her, so together they make the treacherous journey through the mountains.
The first in a brand new series with Bethany House Publishers, it begins with a this high stakes journey of strength, faith, and endurance, not without a high dose of pain along the way. Micah is running from his past with his wandering ways, while Ingrid is an angel of mercy to the mountain folk that she and her father serve. She relies on her faith in God to give her strength for the journey ahead of them, slowing getting to know Micah and breaking down his walls.
Slow to start at first, but it picked up after the characters got to know each other a bit. The journey was quite literally very painful, and I just couldn't help but feel terrible for their situation. There was good character building and interaction throughout, and I couldn't help but feel their pain as Murphy's Law seemed to be working in full force in their vicinity.
I wanted so much to love this book, but the literal agony of their journey made it a difficult read, because I couldn't stop thinking about how much pain their were both experiencing. My heart went out to them and the author did a great job of bringing their struggling to life. I applauded the strong themes of faith throughout, and the dangerous beauty of the mountains.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
What a sweet and inspirational read. I really enjoyed this book. It is my first by this Author and I haven't even looked to see what other books she has out there but I plan to! This book will leave a smile on your face. I look forward to the next book in the series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
What happens when your wagon goes over the side of the mountain? You rely on the mysterious mountain man who saves you and, your faith. Cold, grieving over lost family and a broken leg made the start of Winter a terrible place to be stranded with a stranger. I do enjoy how descriptive the scenes are and the conversations between the characters and inside their heads. Action, hardships and faith in the Montana wilderness made this such an interesting story.
"Hope's Highest Mountain" was my first book by Misty Beller and it will not be the last! I fell in love with not only Micah and Ingrid but Joanna and little Samuel as well.. (Joanna's story comes in "Love's Mountain Quest" next year!) This book had a lot of "adventure" in it and there were times I felt like I was holding my breath to see what would happen next. I also enjoyed watching Micah learn to trust God again. If you love a good, clean Christian romance set in the 1800's, then this will totally fit the bill for you.
Hope’s Highest Mountain by Misty Beller was an existing and enduring read. I found it to a quick read and one that kept me wanting more. I love historical Christian fiction and this did not disappoint. It was heartwarming but also had some climax to it. I recommend this book if you love historical fiction as well.
I was blessed to receive an electronic copy via the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Heart wrenching:
What a lovely book! It is a gripping tale with the characters facing many trials and tribulations as they journey through the Montana wilderness in the middle of winter. Just reading it made me cold and so grateful for my cozy home and all of our modern day conveniences!
At the heart of it is a story about overcoming loss and grief in order to find peace and joy in life again. Micah has misplaced guilt and thinks that he is to blame for everything and that it is up to him to take care of everyone. He has to learn to yield and trust in God; to give up control and see that the Lord is with them and providing for them at all times. Meanwhile Ingrid is dealing with her own loss and it is her faith that allows her to heal and find love. There are lessons here for all of us to learn and despite all the tragedies, it really is a book full of hope and encouragement.

Story Notes
Misty M. Beller brings readers the first in her newest series, Heart’s of Montana, that will have them re-reading it again because of the wonderful story and the excellent characters.
This was unfortunately the first time I have read a book by Ms. Beller. I say that because if her other books are as good as this one was, I have definitely missed out reading all of them. This book takes place in the mountains of Montana and begins with the on-going journey of a young woman named Ingrid and her father who are taking small-pox vaccines to a town that is being devastated by the disease. They are on the final leg of their journey but it will be the toughest part given the terrain. When the strain of the wagon weight overcomes the mules pulling it, tragedy ensues and puts into motion the rest of the story. Micah Bradley is a doctor who left his practice after losing his family to small-pox and is currently residing in the mountains alone. Coming across the wreckage of a small wagon group calls for him to put his past into practice to save the life of Ingrid who has sustained a very badly broken leg. Having also left behind his faith with his medical practice, Micah finds himself forced to pray over this young woman who might lose her life if he cannot reset her leg. Thankfully, Ingrid sleeps through the worst of the process and is understanding of the need to recover. But she is also determined to recover as fast as possible in order to bring the vaccines to the town. Micah is hesitant to help her as he doesn’t want to revisit the pain of his past but cannot allow her to further injure herself. So begins a painful and eye opening journey for both of them as they traverse the snow covered mountains of Montana to bring medicine to those in need. They will both find their faith and meddle tested with every passing day and each will have to learn a new level of trust in God and one another. They might also find the family they each long for if only they will see what God has put right in front of them. I really loved reading this story. It flowed well and the characters were really likable. The determination that Ingrid had to help others meant that she faced great pain and had to depend totally on Micah to make it. That was difficult for a woman who has always cared for others with little regard for her own self. But her quiet faith carried her through and she was able to inspire Micah to return his heart to God. Micah had such a compassionate heart and a gift for healing that he could not ignore the pleas of Ingrid to help others. He was still deeply hurt over the loss of his wife and child but set that aside to ensure that Ingrid would not lose her life to her injury. I loved the way that he determinedly took care of Ingrid and sought to make the journey easier on her. That showed his compassion and strength in a way that he didn’t even know he possessed. When it became too much for him, he had to turn to God for what he could not do and that brought him the healing he needed. I also liked some of the secondary characters they met along the way. Joanna and Samuel, especially, brought depth and challenge to the story and created additional ways to bring Ingrid and Micah closer together. I will certainly be recommending this book to others in the hope they will enjoy it as well. I will also be looking for other books from this author in the hope they will be just as good or better than this one.
I received this temporary complimentary E-book from Bethany House Publishers in order to provide a review. I will receive no fiscal compensation for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
It’s 1866, and Ingrid Chastain has accompanied her father to Montana Territory to deliver a case of smallpox vaccine to an old colleague, a doctor in a tiny town facing an outbreak. But they are about to become victims of a treacherous road they shouldn’t be travelling in October …
Micah Bradley gave up being a doctor after his wife and daughter died in a smallpox outbreak five years ago. Now he’s satisfied with his life as a trapper, keeping away from people and relationships. That is, until he finds the unconscious Ingrid, and knows he can’t leave her to the elements.
So begins what could be a run-of-the-mill Western romance. It’s anything but. Despite her privileged upbringing in the best part of Boston, Ingrid is a strong and intelligent woman with a deep compassion for the sick and hurting—including the people suffering from smallpox in rural Montana. She doesn’t whine or complain even when anyone else would. She has a strong faith in God, knowing Him as her protector. She believes and trusts that despite the death of her father, God is leading her to His best plan for her.
We could learn a lot from Ingrid’s strength and faith. Micah gave up on God after the death of his family, and can’t understand Ingrid’s stubborn faith. But Micah is stubborn in his own way, especially his determination to save the life of a complete stranger without complaining the personal cost. He even agrees to help Ingrid deliver the vaccines, even though it’s a journey that will take weeks in the winter snow.
Hope’s Highest Mountain is Christian Western romance at its finest. Rugged men and brave women learning to depend on God to get them through life’s battles, using strong writing to show an even stronger God. Recommended.

This was my first book by Misty Beller and it will not be my last! She brings the setting to life amazingly, and the characters quickly endear to your heart What an adventure! Along rocky paths, caves, avalanche, snow, snow and snow, Micah will find his perseverance being stretched, but sweet Ingrid might just be the perfect balm to endure the rugged land.
I'd never read this author before, so I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and could not put the book down. If you enjoy survival stories you will love this one. It had me constantly thinking of those tv shows set in Alaska, even though it's set in the 1800s.
Ingrid is on her way with her father who is a doctor to deliver smallpox vaccines to a small village in the mountains of Montana. She encounters just about every obstacle along the way befriending her "savior" Micah and a lady, Joanna, with her son Samuel. From broken leg, to broken wagons, snow, diseases...The story moves quickly considering there are not many characters or settings. It's the perfect book to read if you're craving some cold weather or snow. Or just want to cozy up in winter with a fast, light read.
The romance aspect isn't overwhelming, but it's sweet and realistic.
I'll definitely be recommending this author to friends.
I received an ARC through netgalley for my honest review.
Hope’s Highest Mountain was a pleasure to read. It was the perfect beginning to my fall reading TBR (It pairs well with cozy blankets, flannel, and hot tea!). I absolutely loved the setting of the book. The landscape was breathtaking and the constant frigid temperatures and snow definitely played a part in the mood of the story.
And the story is fantastic. It begins with heart-stopping action and palpable heartache, but it is an epic journey not only through the snow-covered mountains but through the natural valleys of faith.
Ingrid and Joanna are beautiful examples of strong, faithful women. It was heartwarming to see them keep their faith and work together as they struggled through unimaginable situations. I admired Ingrid’s unshakeable faith and the inner strength she leaned on daily to endure the pain of her injuries. It wasn’t difficult to see how a man like Micah, damaged and a little lost in life, would be drawn to her so easily.
Micah is quite the man. A doctor. Mountain man. Grieving widower. I loved his protective instinct of those within his care, and how he liked all the ornery parts of Samuel, the boy who traveled with them. His journey (personally and spiritually), in many ways, was the hardest, but you can’t help but root for him the entire time.
I hope you take a chance on this story. Not only is the setting amazingly beautiful, but the spiritual message is inspiring (without being preachy) and touched my heart. I fell in love with Ingrid and Micah in the first few pages and was honored to watch their love bloom slowly and sweetly.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
What is essentially a story of a trek across the snow-laden frontier of the Montana Territory in 1866 becomes so much more in her hands. With characters whose strengths come to the fore, what begins as a mission of mercy becomes a journey so fraught with danger and challenges that the sheer grit it took to survive in that part of history is constantly brought to mind.
This is an engrossing and engaging read, with a well integrated faith thread. While the cast is small, they are well drawn and when combined with the trials they face, the unforgiving setting lends itself to an epic feel.
While this author has been on my radar for some time, Hope's Highest Mountain is the first book I've read by Misty M. Beller and I am duly impressed. Definitely one for the reread shelf, and an author to turn to when the need strikes for a rugged historical Christian romance. I am looking forward to the sequel, Love's Mountain Quest, due out in June 2020. Particularly since it will feature two characters I wanted to see together in the main roles.

Misty Beller
Hopes Highest Mountain written by Misty Beller is one of my favorite. I love Misty Beller books and I'm not disappointed by this book. This book is about a outbreak of small pox and getting their much needed medicine. It's a book of faith and love, which is always a great combination. I just love the characters, because they are so likeable. Misty made you think you are back in this time where outbreaks of any kind was ten fold. The one amazing thing is I couldn't put it down.

Hope’s Highest Mountain was written by Misty M. Beller and is book one of two in the Hearts of Montana series.
Summary: Ingrid Chastain and her father have left the safety of Boston to travel deep into the wilds of the Montana Territory to deliver much needed vaccines. But a terrible tragedy occurs, leaving Ingrid alone and badly injured.
Micah Bradley is a doctor, who left his profession after a tragedy of his own. Will he be able to save Ingrid, and in the process, rescue what is left of his soul?
My Thoughts: I liked this book. It has a great premise, some action, interesting characters, and a good message about learning to rely on God. It did get a little mushy towards the end with the guy constantly being drawn into her beautiful eyes, and the girl not able to take her eyes away from his broad shoulders. That wasn’t my thing, but if you like the romance, it’s there.
Overall, it was a fun read, and I wouldn’t mind reading book two.
I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for my unbiased review. Thank you!
Misty Beller writes incredible Christian historical fiction, and I have enjoyed many of her books. This story is just as incredible as the others. This author has a way of making you feel that you are actually on the journey with the characters, and experience Montana just as Ingrid did. I also appreciate the thread of faith that weaves in and out of the story. Full of romance and adventure, this book will keep you turning pages to read more of Ingrid’s story. I’m already looking forward to reading Misty Beller’s next book.

I absolutely LOVE this story! I devoured it. Right from the start I was hooked. The story follows a woman who needs to take some vaccines to a small town in Montana. Her father promised the small town doctor he'd get them there to prevent small pox. However, along the way there some was trouble. But not all hope is lost since a handsome stranger comes to save the day. With lots of prayer and hope Ingrid's life is about be changed forever. This is a great Historical Christian Fiction story. I loved it! I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Misty Beller is a master at telling stories set in the great outdoors. There may not be any wild animals yet in this series, but there’s an avalanche, broken ice, broken bones, and illnesses to wreak havoc in the lives of these characters. There is never a dull moment in this exciting journey, and I couldn’t help but feel as if I was back in Montana with Ingrid and Micah. Beller writes in such a way that you not only see your surroundings, but you can feel them too. When Ingrid was injured and riding along the bumpy trail, I could feel those bumps. When they were trying to get across the icy stream, I could feel the coldness of the ice underneath me. And when there were some kissing scenes, well my heart went pitter patter!
While I loved reading about Micah and Ingrid, I also enjoyed seeing the secondary characters in Joanna, Samuel and Handsome (the dog!). They didn’t really feel like secondary characters to me – they just felt like they had been there all along. I could see one trait through all the characters – strength. Micah was physically strong, Ingrid was strong in her faith, and Joanna was strong for her son. Having three different characters portray a similar trait in different ways is not something I see a lot of, but Beller did a beautiful job of displaying it.
Perhaps the character with the most growth, and the one I think a lot of people can identify with is Micah. His past haunted him pretty deeply. The problem was instead of clinging to God during his time of trouble, he almost seemed to blame God. And haven’t we all done that at one time or another in our lives if we’re honest? Maybe we don’t blame God per-say, but we question what God is doing in a particular situation. Beller’s ability to address this naturally, and poetically though Ingrid’s faith and testimony spoke straight to my heart. And that’s what I want from a lot of my Christian Fiction reads – a story that will inspire and encourage.
Once again Beller has brought readers a story that is dangerous, exciting, and full of emotion. Setting the tone for this new fantastic series, I can’t even imagine what is going to come next. I hope it’s a Joanna story!! I highly encourage you to read Hope’s Highest Mountain now so you’ll be ready for the next release!

Misty M. Beller delivers a beautiful story filled with loss, sorrow, love, and hope. With the gorgeous mountain setting, this story is sure to sweep you into another time and place.
I admit, the outbreak of a contagious disease hit a little closer to home than normal. But I loved this story of perseverance. Regardless of the dangers, both Ingrid and Micah showed so much courage. I loved watching their relationship grow and care for each other...and others. The past can beat us up if we let it. Mistakes...things we should have said, but didn't...A guilty conscience...And learning to extend grace to ourselves when we need it most is harder than it seems. This season we are living in is teaching me self-grace on a daily basis. And I keep reminding myself of Anne's words..."Tomorrow is a new day, with no mistakes in it...yet."
Montana is my favorite place to be...other than HOME...and it was interesting to see it through a new lens and in a different time period.

Ingrid Chastain and her father were on their way over the mountains to deliver smallpox vaccines to a town where there was an outbreak. When there is an accident where the wagon goes off the mountain and her father is killed, she is not sure how she will survive. Enter Micah, a mysterious mountain man, who helps her not only to survive, but to get the vaccines where they need to be.
I really enjoy Misty Beller's writing. It is descriptive and her storyline is well crafted. I loved the characters of Micah and Ingrid. Ingrid was a deeply spiritual woman, who prayed and truly believed that God's will was going to help them fulfill their mission. Micah had a lot of sorrow and did not trust himself or God anymore. He needed to find self-forgiveness to be able to be his true self and use his God-given gift of healing and medicine. Ingrid was just the person to help him do that. There were a lot of barriers put in their path, but they managed to overcome them. This was a wonderful story with adventure, hardship, faith and love that I really enjoyed. Misty Beller has become an author that I search out for her wonderful faith filled historical fiction stories.

Beller is a tender historical fiction novel that captures our hearts with its most lovable characters who, while on a dedicated and committed mission to save lives, learn to lean on God’s promises, trusting in the glorious hope that He provides blissful peace and rest to His beloved children.
