It was a very thorough and safety conscious book to help anyone use to get started on YouTube and I highly recommend if you're thinking about it to check it out!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

This is a really fun, engaging and inspiring book which really breaks down the process of vlogging into a series of creative activities that encourage children and young people to really reflect upon what it is that want to explore, why, and how to do it. I would highly recommend it.

This book is great for tweens and teens who are interested in vlogging. As a librarian, this is an area where I get a lot of questions from young people and I think this is the best book on the topic that is both simple yet thorough. Can be read by teens and parents alike.

What an awesome book on how to vlog that goes so in depth. It has so much information that is explained so well. I am planning on starting a YouTube channel and this book has it all to prepare for that. A really interesting book that just about something cool to learn.

This is a very nicely thought out and put together book with helpful information, great illustrations and speaks in a relatable voice to the demo this book is aimed at. Pretty impressed.

"The Vlogger's Handbook" provides basic advice on how to get started vlogging. It appears to be aimed at younger people (teenagers and up), and the author chose four young vloggers to offer tips and advice on each vlogging topic. The author covered how to decide on what type of vlog you want to do, how to come up with ideas to vlog about, online safety, what basic equipment is needed and what equipment you might like to get someday, the basics of filming, lighting, sound, and editing, and choosing what online platforms to use. If you've never really done video or audio editing or have never learned to storyboard or create a story sequence, then this book will get you started off quickly with good advice and basic information. However, this book didn't provide much detail (no step-by-step projects) or cover more advanced skills, so it might not be useful if you've already done some video work.

So what is vlogging and why would you want to do it? Beats me, so I thought I'd find out as my children have been known to upload videos to YouTube of their pets or their video gaming, The book is aimed at kids rather than adults, but I'm sure I will get something out of it.

This book starts with an Introduction entitled "Let's Vlog" which explains why people vlog, the different types and trying it out yourself. There are then nine further chapters which cover:
~ Think, write, invent
~ To share or not to share?
~ The tools you'll need
~ Filming your vlog
~ Lighting your Vlog
~ How does it sound?
~ Cutting & editing
~ Going online
~ Conclusion

Throughout the book are Q&As with real vloggers, giving tips and their own personal stories as to how they got started. It also includes cute drawings throughout the book to illustrate some of the points.

Whilst it's good at explaining some things, it a little limited in other areas and doesn't seem to indicate that on certain social media sites you need to be 13 years old to join.

At the back of the book is a list of resources for blogging platforms, open source video and audio editing, Photo and image editing and where to find public domain images, sounds and videos that can be used.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

Great for those who are on the younger side and have an interest in vlogging and making videos. And it does have some great tips that can be taken by those who are older and are starting. Things from equipment, filming, and online safety are talked about. Does given some options to what ones can use and purchase - though it may make it seem that one needs to buy some of the stuff right away (like lighting, but does mention natural light so there is a bit of a balance cost wise).

Basic information on vlogging. Includes information on on-line safety, editing and equipment. This would be a good introduction to the aspiring YouTuber.

A really useful introduction to the world of vlogging. The handbook covers the basics that teens often forget to think about in their quest to start vlogging - online safety, how to choose your "theme"/"topics" for your vlog, basic equipment you need to get started - and then it moves on to "how to create a vlog" using ideas like storyboards, and detailing lighting, sound & video editing. It does also touch on things like more advanced equipment that you may want to invest in if this becomes a longer term hobby, but it doesn't get into advanced skills. There are some useful list of resources and details of where to find public domain images, sounds etc that could be used.
There are Q&As with vloggers, giving hints & tips and sharing their own stories as to how they got started.

Overall, I was impressed by the range of information contained in this book and the way it is presented appeals directly to the age group it is targetted at. I will be purchasing a copy for my teen youth group as several are interested in Vlogging!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This is the perfect gift for the young person who wants to get into the word of vlogging. It is a colourful and engaging book with lots of helpful advise or information.

For my work at the library, I often try to connect with other players like the youth center, schools and kindergarten.

And right now, it is an important issue to try and and help the children to get a better understanding of our digital world and how to live in it.
And what better way than to make your own Vlog and in that context, talk about the importance of net security and what to say and what better not to say.

This book is written in a good and comprehensive language and it gives many opportunities to work out some lectures on your own.

I am very thankful that I got the opportunity to read it.

At first, I thought this was going to be very childish and not really relevant to me (Yes I am thinking of vlogging) but the chapter about safety really changed my mind.

It goes into real detail about how to avoid being doxxed and defrauded and has some great advice. Despite the childish drawings and set-type, it was really very informative without being too patronising and I am thinking about buying a copy for myself.

This was fine. There wasn't anything special or unique about it, and I don't think it accurately portrayed Booktube very well. It is targeting teens, but you have to be 13 to be on YouTube, but I think that the audience that it was trying to target was for a younger age group. It would have been great for kids, but it I think there were some things that even teens would have been bored or uninterested in.
