Description
Over the past decade as a homicide detective with the Austin police department, Ransom Kidder has always nailed the bad guy. All of them that is, except one: the Travis Heights Slasher, who killed three people and then vanished without a trace ten years ago.
Now, from out of the blue, he's back, and the bodies are piling up. There's no shortage of forensic evidence, yet the knife-wielding monster somehow seems able to hide in plain sight—and always one step out of reach. A frantic Detective Kidder soon finds himself in a desperate race against time to find the sadistic killer before his own daughter becomes the next victim. Only thing is, he's looking in all the wrong places.

A fantastic read with some great characters. Loved Camille and Kidder. Didn't expect that. Lots of action. 5*.
This is the best crime mystery novel I have read in the sense that I had no clue who the killer was until near the end, but I was under the impression that the daughter was going to be kidnapped sooner because of the blurb.
If you are interested in reading a book that will have you guessing until the end, then this is a book I would highly recommend.

Review for "On the edge of Darkness" by C. L. Avey.
Was available to read and review on NetGalley. Unsure if still available.
This book is about a detective who has a ten year old case come back to haunt him when victims with the same MO are being murdered. I got stuck into this book from the beginning and I found it very well written. I found the characters likeable and realistic as well as strong. I thought the storyline was excellent BUT unfortunately, for me, the killer was obvious from about half way if not before. However, i did still find that even after I had strong suspicions of the killer that the book still had some suspense filled moments. I also enjoyed that all loose ends were wrapped up nicely and although I suspected the killer I didn't suspect that explanation. I recommend this to fans of crime, murder, mystery, suspense and thrillers. I gave this book 4/5, only losing a star due to, for me, I just thought it could have been that bit better by not making the killer quite so obvious, again for me.
Excellent psychological thriller! It moved at a fast pace with twists and turns throughout! Well-developed characters and plot. Highly recommend!
this was a really good read, with great characters and a great mystery. I overall enjoyed reading this and look forward to more from the author.
