Really really good, such a cute and clever concept. I love the sheep theme and how they keep multiplying with every page you turn, you can literally count sheep to fall asleep with this book. The simple and relaxing puzzles are a great idea but I think it could do with a few more. The illustrations are fun and I also like the quotes and tips. This book would make a great gift.
This book is super cute and I enjoyed it. It is a fun break and an easy way to help turn off those random thoughts that keep you up. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. I think it would make a fun stocking stuffer for all the busy people in your life.
Kip is now my sleep buddy. Every night I get into bed and count the sheep on the page, do one of the puzzles, count the sheep on the next page, turn the light off. Wish Kip and his woolly friend goodnight and I’m off to sleep. A simple idea but, it works for me!
I read this book after a good nights sleep.
This book will make you fall asleep. This is a title that over-reaches itself. The book however does not take itself too seriously or scientifically promises a magic cure for insomnia. That is the point where other fail.
This area of self-help guides is a thriving industry, addressing sleepless nights with numerous books and remedies to restore restful sleep
This book is not flippant in its approach; it is not making fun of the insomniac nor taking the issue lightly - it is just reverting to the old adage let’s count sheep. Indeed the fact such a book has been published acknowledges both the topic and the natural process sleep is to us all.
It introduces Kip the sheep and his number increases with each passing page. In between is worldly wisdom and sayings around the subject of nodding off. Humour is the driver of course; it is about having fun not at someone’s expense, but with them, to help bring about a relaxed mind and a tired body.
Filled with puzzles, word searches and the like, all are sleep orientated and focus on pillows and rest. Nothing too thought provoking, yet did I imagine the tasks were more demanding the further into the book, perhaps my tired brain was submitting and giving up the fight.
I have read a number of books on this subject. These take much longer to say the same things this simple book shares. None of these methods is guaranteed and despite its title, the complete answer for every case does not lie in these pages also. Yet, in not over dramatising the subject, I think this little book may be closer to the solution and bring some peace and stress free moments to bedtime.
I love Kip and I love this book. It's cute, fun and useful.
I loved the quiz and I loved the illustrations.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
Get a physical copy cause this will do wonders for the kids not wanting to sleep and can also count as a Fun activity to do together with the kids.
Special thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this arc. Comes out Jan 2020.
This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep by Andrews McMeel Publishing is a cute book. It has good illustrations, puzzles, and quotes. I think children would enjoy it, but it’s a fun read for adults too. It would also be a good gift for someone.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep by Andrews McMeel Publishing. Absolutely adored Kip and the flock. A fun and cute way to de-stress and unwind at the end of the day. Will be looking for the print book when it is published and will get a couple of extra copies for our sleep deprived friends.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
I cracked this adorable little book open last night as I struggled to fall asleep. It's full of great quotes, fast little puzzles and games and adorable little sheep. I loved the soothing colors and found myself wishing I had a physical copy instead of a digital one. I really enjoyed the quotes that reminded me to do simple things to help me fall asleep. Sadly, it didn't put me to sleep because I was enjoying it too much! I think there is potential here for this book to work for many. I enjoyed it!
I wasn't really sure what this book would include, but as an insomniac I was excited to read it. It is filled with tips and tricks to help you fall asleep faster, how to set up your bedroom, and then puzzles and games to do before bedtime. A great stocking stuffer or gift for any insomniac. Four stars because most of tips and tricks I've heard before, but this book puts them all in one place.
This is a short, cute and funny little book. While it did not make me fall asleep I did enjoy the pictures (the sheep are adorable!), puzzles and quotes. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a cute book, with puzzles and illustrations that were super fun. I loved the quotes and bedtime sleep tips, and will be sure to utilize them. It certainly makes you more motivated to sleep earlier, and get better sleep. I actually looked forward to reading this book as I went to bed every night, and recommend it as a gift for yourself, or a friend.
This book is so cute, I wish I'd received it as a gift and may very well give it as one in the future. It isn't some high-and-mighty book proclaiming to know all the secrets to curing insomnia or a dull self-help novel you'll never find time to read. Instead, it's an adorable book which uses repetitive tasks and puzzles with a dash of humour and some useful (if also very common) tips to guide you into a state of readiness for sleep.
Due to the review copy I received being a digital edition, I definitely feel like I missed out on some of the charm and usefulness of this book. Having it open on a phone's reading app is not going to help with sleep no matter what and several of the activities were impossible to complete due to spanning two pages instead of one. As such, I'm doing a tiny bit of guessing when I rate it and going more on cuteness and presumed usefulness to decide my rating.
Overall, I liked this book. There wasn't much to read, but what was there seemed large enough it could be read without my glasses - a plus for the concept of helping with sleep. And Kip the sheep? Oh, I adore him so! As a gift for a loved one who stays up too late on occasion, this would be a home run. As a tool for someone battling crippling insomnia... well, it will at least give them something to do while trying to sleep, but I highly doubt it'll fix their problems.
(Disclaimer: I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley for purposes of reading and reviewing. The opinions expressed are my own and the review is honest.)
A truly creative and effective way to fall asleep with a book. The sleep evoking options are many and I must admit it was hard to stay awake but I mean that in the most positive way in that it really worked.
This is a lovely, fun book filled with simple activities to occupy the mind away from your insomnia and hopefully guide you into sleep! Filled with counting sheep pages, a few puzzles and useful tips, this is a quirky way to address your sleep issues!
For someone with consistent migraines and inadequate sleep, this was refreshing to read and well written. Addressing sleep problems and simple practical suggestions ro help tackle them.
How cute was this? This would make a great gift to the insomniac in your life. The mix or puzzles and quotes about sleep made this a quick and enjoyable read.
A humorous gift book designed to help the reader fall asleep through a variety of illustrated games and puzzles, advice on sleeping, and statements from famous historical figures on the subject of sleep.
This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep from Andrews McMeel Publishing is an absolutely adorable book in which you make friends with Kip the sheep who will guide you from awake to asleep.
The book includes sleep hygiene types and quotes related to sleep. My favourite:
“Life is something to do when you can’t get to sleep.” – Fran Lebowitz
There are puzzles, including mazes where you have to get Kip to the pillow, word searches for sleep-related dwords, and a sort of Where’s Waldo to find the sleeping sheep.
The book is packed with plenty of woolly illustrated friends wearing cute little striped sleeping caps. Feel like counting sheep? This book would be perfect for that. The sheep per page ratio steadily grows as the book goes on, so by the time you’re at the end of the book the page is jam-packed with woolly friends.
So yeah, loved this – cuteness overload.
This book is quite true to its title. It is very whimsical in style, because the majority of the pages are cartoons of a flock of sheep, mostly white ones but with the odd black one thrown in for variety. Interspersed between the sheep pages are little quotes or tips to help the reader improve their sleep habits. I reviewed an ebook edition which would not be the recommended format for anyone buying the book for themselves or as a gift.
