Description
Raise Your Innovation IQ – a new book by Leena Patel, a prominent innovation consultant and CEO of Sandbox2Boardroom.com – is a page-turning solution set of twenty-one strategies that will lead you to think differently in times of change.
In her easy-to-read conversational style, Leena draws you in and takes you on a journey that opens your eyes to the big mistake we make that stalls us: our tendency to get stuck in one worldview, perceive innovation through a singular lens, and put all our energy on traditional approaches to innovation to drive revenue. Doing so, we may have unknowingly got stuck and missed many other over-looked areas that are ripe for change.
In this book, the author lays out how innovation comes in many forms and oftentimes in the unlikeliest of places. Incorporating these strategies into your growth plan may just be the key to quickly getting you unstuck, and enabling you to make that much sought after quantum leap.
Flexing this new-and-improved innovation muscle is not easy; if it were, we wouldn’t see so many leaders within so many companies struggling in the world. That’s why for every strategy, Leena has included a series of powerful yet simple actions you can take to think differently, radically expand your creativity, and drive leading-edge innovations within your team or organization. Strategically taking action on these needle-movers on a consistent basis is the fast path to creating a future-ready team or business.
Drawing from a mix of strategies that have stood the test of time, personal anecdotes, and examples from recent events in history, Raise Your Innovation IQ is an easy yet insightful read that will easily become your go-to resource on the innovation mindset, the strategies, and the heightened level of thinking that are necessary to differentiate yourself, capitalize on new opportunities, and be positioned as a market leader.

This is a very good book about innovation, but it's best suited for people in big organizations and is a must-read for those. For us entrepreneurial types and small businesses, there are also useful tips, but some things are not so interesting. There is also a little lack of qualifiers, as thinking outside the box and outrageous is OK, but wasting time on what's impossible is no use. 2+2=5 will never happen.
“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.”– Alexander The Great appeared to be one of my top quotes from the book. Innovation is essential at any level of organization but the most powerful and impactful when it is a part of strategy and executive initiative. Great book to experience innovative spirit and learn how to close gaps in creative thinking.
ARC: Raise Your Innovation IQ teaches the reader how to think differently so that they can be more innovative in whatever their job may be. This book is great because chapters can be read in any order. You read what applies to you. It is recommended to read it from chapter one because of terminology used, but it is easy to catch on to and understand. I personally read the book starting with chapter one and going in order from there. The best part of the book is that each chapter, strategy, ends with an action step for you to do. I found that the action steps really locked my understanding in place. I highly recommend this book and will be buying it for others.
