Thank you, NetGalley, for this advance copy!
The older I get, the more I enjoy yoga books over videos. I like to be at my own pace, and I appreciate the photos in a well-done book like this. This is a useful, peaceful, practical guide to a slower-paced restorative practice, including some very nice sequences for many different purposes and problems. This would make an excellent addition to any home or library's yoga collection.
A good introduction to restorative yoga. I like the photos and explanation, and especially the section on how this practice can benefit your health. I find it harder to relax practicing at home, but for times when you can’t get to a class this is a great book to walk you through the poses and has a great section with suggested flows.
Caren Baginski goes into every detail you would need to practice restorative yoga in this book. It's a great reference guide for anyone interested in practicing yoga either as a complete beginner or the advanced at home practitioner.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. Restorative yoga is a subject I am interested in learning more about. For a beginner this book was fantastic. You do not need any prior knowledge going into this book. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a good place to start and learn about yoga. I also enjoyed the pictures of the poses and not just a description on how to do them.
This is a great introduction to restorative yoga. It is full of information on the background of the practice and practical tips on how to do it. As always with DK books, the layout is lovely.
As someone who had had a lot of back problems lately, I cant wait to give some of these moves a try. They all look simple and relaxing. I love the easy to follow pictures and directions and appreciate all the variations so there is always a way to make the move work for people.
I was really excited when I read about this type of yoga, it sounds so wonderful for those who aren’t up to the regular full-on yoga. The description sounded just perfect for me, and I’m sure it is for many, many people. I got all revved up about about getting whatever was needed in the way of blocks, bolsters, straps, and a mat to get started. As I read further on into the different poses, there were precautions noted for them, and unfortunately, it turned out that I have too many of the conditions mentioned that it says not to do them if you have, and it left nearly none that I could do. I’m extremely disappointed, as this looks like a great alternative for a lot of people.
I still think it’s a wonderful book though, and suggest it for others if they are looking for something less than regular yoga that is healing and restorative and looks great for stress. It’s done in your own quiet environment, in a darkened space for maximum relaxation. Check it out if you think you might have an interest. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, author Caren Baginski, and Alpha.
