Description
Jess Vandermire, Vampire Hunter, Book 7
Death Deceives Her
Jess Vandermire and John (Britt) Brittain have been in Paris for three months now, but they aren’t going home yet. There’s a complicated vampire uprising brewing, and everything they’ve encountered in Paris so far has drawn them deeper into the conspiracy. It’s becoming apparent there are more than just vampires in the mix, but Jess still hasn’t figured out exactly what they’re up against…or who their true enemy is.
Jess and Britt will have to work without a net, covering treacherous terrain to root out just what the threat is. The police are no longer trustworthy--even though someone is definitely doing everything in their power to break the current Pact between vampires and humans. But when Jess and Britt finally unearth the truth, they realize that they’re facing their most dangerous enemy yet.
And it’s not at all who they expected . . .
City of Bones—some secrets don’t stay buried . . .

Jess, Britt, and Regent are in the last month of Regents' trip to Paris for the church. Mysterious vampires and their secret association are the bones of this last book in this story arc. As chaos engulfs the police force, Regent is kidnapped. A strange benefactor will change and reveal everything. You get it all in this book. Jess' parentage, who the serial killer is, the siblings back story, Britts growing abilities, and what has been going on in Paris and why. Good finish, baby, very small, cliffhanger for the next story arc. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book fro Netgalley.
Graves of Retribution is a stunning surprise that will rock your world! I walked into this amazing world with my eyes wide open, and I left with pure wonder and endless appreciation. The beautifully complex plot and wonderfully spell-binding characters left me in complete awe. I can't say enough about such an original story line that can weave into many different areas while keeping things fresh and unique each time. What a fabulous series that I hope to read more from in the future!
Jess lives in a world that is on the brink of madness from one thing or another. This time the threat is something closer to home then she ever could have seen coming. While she is busy keeping an eye on her wayward sister, she makes sure to balance the other important items on her plate. The one person that continues to surprise and delight her is the love her life Britt. Britt knows they both have their work cur out for them, but above it all his love and devotion for Jess never wavers. Even in the face of his own demons, he always turns to her as his rock and his north star. Together they are quite the formidable pair. However, this time is very different. This time, they might not make it out. In fact, if things don't go their way, they may not see the light of another day. When the darkness surrounds you, don't fail to look for the light and love inside your very soul.
I was completely blown away by the fabulous characters that I met throughout this book! They are truly one of a kind, and I savored my time with each of them. They brought this story life and make it that much better and more realistic to me. My mind was tangled up in the plot in no time, and I lost my heart to Jess and Britt from the very beginning. The unconditional love between this amazing couple made my heart sing and ache for them. I know they have some crazy and insane adventures ahead, and I can't wait to read about them!
I can't believe just how incredible this story is! It grabbed my heart and never let go. What a thrilling edge of your seat ride that kept me on my toes the entire time! Lina Gardiner is a fabulous author who delighted and enthralled my senses with her beautiful story of finding hope in the strangest of places. She is a marvelous storyteller who has captured my heart and my attention. I cannot wait to read more of her books. They are a fantastic gift, and I hope that you will give her stories a chance to take root and bloom in your heart.
It was good to be back in Paris with Jess, Britt and Regent. This was an exciting installment as we learned more about the Raven, the book, Vlad, Jess’s sister and her adopted father. There is a mix of religion and lore weaved into this tale and I loved the good vs evil with a twist that the author delivered.
Another girl is murdered in the tomes, the city police are replaced and Regent soon finds himself in trouble before things come to a head. Gardiner weaved in characters from Jess & Britt’s past, making me wish I had read the Jess Vandermire series, but it was explained and quite clever.
An addictive tale that wrapped up nicely while leaving room for more encounters with Paris friends. It looks like Jess, Britt and Regent are headed back to New York and trouble awaits them. Full review @ Caffeinated Reviewer on January 16th.
This amazing book is the conclution for City of Bones trilogy but is also a contuation of the Jess Vandermire series. This book is a great read even if you hadn't read the pervious one. You will never feel at a loss or think that any part of the story is a waste words just to make it a stand alone option. This is not an easy thing to achive but Lina Gardiner makes it look easy.
Highly entertaining, exciting and action packed adventure filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling turns. Really enjoyed this edge of your seat, exciting adventure!
Awesome, just awesome!! The books in this series are so full of action, subterfuge and inherent danger that I had to keep going to the next page again and again long after I would tell myself just one more chapter, then just one more page and I'll stop. But I couldn't make myself stop reading because I needed to find out what was happening next!! I have read this series from the beginning and the storyline draws the reader in so completely that you feel like you are helping Jess and Britt follow each clue and conversation in order to overcome this ancient and evil threat before it can accomplish its agenda of total domination in the world! I can't wait to find out what Ms. Gardiner has in store for our beloved Jess and Britt next!
This is the final book of three in this particular element of this series set in Paris .
We see the culmination of all the twists and turns of various plots that have arisen in the two previous books .
Jess , Brit and Regan have been drawn down deathly paths in their endeavours to solve the murders in Paris- But forces against them arise at every turn , who can they truly trust and what further surprises await Jess regarding her parentage .
These books are full of complex plots , great characters and surprises at every turn . I found myself drawn into their lives , fully invested in Jess and Britt's relationship and their relationship with Regan .
I look forward to further books in this series - and will be reading the original series set in the USA .
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.
An entertaining and engrossing read that kept me hooked till the end.
I liked the world building, the fleshed out cast of characters, and the well crafted plot.
It can be read as a stand alone even if it's part of a series.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
I’ve been reading this series from the beginning, and this is the end of this trilogy, but I don’t think it’s the end of Britt, Regent, and Jess. In this one, we get all the loose ends tied up from everything that has been happening in France. I have to admit, I am waffling on whether or not I like Jess’ sister and I hate that; I really want to like her. Anyway, in this, we get to find out many secrets and the biggest one is Jess and Regent’s father. That was a stunner. We also get to find out who the serial killer is…another darn stunner, one I wasn’t sure I liked. LOL! I enjoyed this book, and I’m definitely looking forward to more in this series. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend to everyone.
This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.
I have read other books by Lina Gardiner that I have read. I was hooked from the first chapter. This is a riveting series. It was a fast paced story. Plenty of intrigue, humor, action, and course romance to have you hooked from beginning to end. I now have purchased the rest of the series.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Brit and Jess Vandermine (vampire hunter) are in Paris, investigating murders. The further their investigation takes them the more treacherous their path grows.
Jess is coming to terms with the loss of her newly found twin sister’s death, and it seems that its constantly in her thoughts as she comes up against a power-hungry immortal that wants to control all vampires.
Wow, what a rollercoaster of twists and turns Gardiner was woven into this plot. My suggestion is buckling in for one heck of a ride because you won’t find much time to catch your breath. Just saying, Graves of Retributions is a non-stop adventure that will have you invested till the end.
I received this copy of Graves of Rebribution from BelleBooks, Inc - ImaJinn Books. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Loved this book! First time reading this author. If you like stories about vampires, angels both good and bad, and how good wins over evil then this is the read for you! Jess is a vampire. With a evil twin sister, a priest for a brother and a hmmmm watcher for a boyfriend. With this mix a girl can’t go wrong or can she?
I read and reviewed this advanced complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley
Graves of Retribution
(City of Bones #3)
by Lina Gardiner
This is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. I have read a few of this author's books before and love them and this one was excellent too! A thrilling fantasy with a vampire cop and her boyfriend that is...something else. They are in France where they had just helped out clearing out a demon horde. They met friends there and decide to help with a serial killer case. This case gets very crazy fast! I don't want to spoil it but this has a terrific plot, it's unpredictable, exciting, character driven, and a wonderful way to spend my time!
This book is the fantastic conclusion for the City of Bones trilogy but it is also a tie in to the Jess Vandermire series. This book can be read as a stand alone but it is helpful to have read the previous books because you have a richer overall picture of the story arc. This book really brings it and wraps things up nicely answering so many questions from the previsions books. But I do love it still leaves a few minor loose ends that could be used to tie into future story-lines in case the author chooses to continue this series. The world-building and characters as always flow seamlessly and fit well in this world. I have truly loves this series and I highly recommend it!!
I received this book from NetGalley and BelleBooks Inc.-ImaJinn Books for an honest review.
