This is the first of these books that I've read but the second book in the Fallen Guardians series. The book worked well as a standalone novel and while there was a bit of the background and world to understand, I didn't feel that I missed out at all by not having read the previous book. There is an explanation of all of the angel types and what they do at the end of the book, which was helpful. I think you could work out most of it from the story, it might have been better before the story began?
What I particularly liked about this story was that the hero and heroine were not a new couple, falling in love the moment that they met, but rather a couple that had been together for thousands of years, until they had been separated and living apart for the last three hundred years or so. Like in many romances, much of their difficulties came from a lack of communication. Although they both tried to do what they thought was best for the other, they acted without speaking to the other first and working together.
I found myself drawn into this story and couldn't put it down. It was easy to feel for Willow, who felt abandoned after having been left behind. Aric may have felt that he was doing what was for the best, but Willow has no way of knowing why he has done what he did.
The only thing that I wasn't entirely convinced by was some of the language. For saying that these are beings that have been around for thousands and thousands of years, they all talk with very modern phrases and speech patterns. That's not to say that they wouldn't pick up modern phrases and the like, but I'm not convinced that everything would be like that. It's a minor quibble in an otherwise very enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review!

Unforgotten is book 2 in the Fallen Guardians series by Cassie Laelyn. The story in general is pretty typical: fallen angels, lost loved, and a fight to save a pure soul.
Willow felt abandoned when her soulmate Aric left Heaven on a mission. She tried to have faith but the centuries passed and feelings of pain and resentment festered. Enter fallen angel, Blaine. Blaine offers her a way out of Heaven, where she feels trapped without Aric, and she accepts.
Arics mission is, in part, to slay fallen angels. He didn’t expect to be away from Willow for so long and feels a constant ache in his chest because of their separation. He is a man who does his duty unfailingly. At least he is until Willow becomes a fallen. Now he has to make hard choices in an attempt to save her soul, and his own.

I struggled to become invested in this story. The writing style, detail, and world building are all fine, but they story felt a little done to me. However, if you are a fan of Fallen, or Hush, Hush, this is probably a great choice for you!

After reading Unforsaken, I really wanted to know what would happen to the other Fallen Guardians. So I was very happy to find Unforgotten on Netgalley. Because this was Aric's story. And just when I thought Fate could not be any more cruel than she was for Raven, I realize she was even more cruel to Aric. Because when Aric chose to go with Raven to retrieve Blaine from earth, he didn't realize Fate banned him for centuries on. So he didn't even get to say goodbye to his soulmate Willow.
Ever since Aric disappeared, Willow has been slowly withering away in The Heavens. Because of their bond, which now only works one way, Aric is slowly draining Willow of her angelic powers. So after centuries, she has turned bitter and resentful. When a Fallen offers to take her to Hell to break the bond with Aric, she agrees. But then, everything goes wrong and Willow ends up on earth. With Aric. But Willow is running out of time. Can she trust Aric enough to save her? Or will their bond dissolve?
Heartbreaking, full of suspense and laughter. A wonderful read. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series, because I can't wait to find out more about the Guardians and Fate. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I just love this author <3 The first book Unforsaken..hooked me in, but Unforgotten..locked me into this series. You’ll read in the 1st book about Aric and his longing for his Soulmate Willow. So when you read this book you’re sucked into the emotional rollercoaster of their Romance. I’m not an easy crier, but let me tell ya, I was grabbing for the tissues, a few times. What an AMAZING story and plot for this series. I can’t wait for the next book!!!!
A big THANK YOU to Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me an ARC copy and into this AMAZING new paranormal world!!!!
If you haven’t checked out “THE FALLEN GUARDIANS”, I recommend you do..and NOW!

Blaine spent his time trying to syphon the heavenly powers from angels since he fell from heaven. Once he had enough he could challenge Zath for the throne. Then he could get back to the angel he loved.

Aric, Raven and the other Guardians had been sent to save Blaine but Aric had left his soulmate in heaven and he planned to return to her at some point. Willow got tired of waiting and Blaine talked her into becoming a Fallen as well. Blaine said he would be at the gates of Hell to bring her back to the mortal realm before Zath could get to her but when she got there, Blaine never showed up and Zath got a hold of her. Zath found Willow and tortured her, taking her wings.

This is the second book in the Fallen Guardians series and maybe I should have read the first book before this one because I was lost. But I don't know if it was because I hadn't read the first book, there are so many characters and so many things have already happened that weren't thoroughly explained. So I did feel a little lost but I liked the story so I kept reading and hoped that things would become more clear, which they did a little.

Something was clearly wrong with Willow after she became a Fallen. When Aric and Blaine figure out what the problem is and how to fix it, this story picks up pace and became a lot more interesting.

This was an interesting read about angels, fate, guardians and the fallen. The romance was sweet and the storyline was an interesting one but the pacing was a little slow. It might have been better had I read the first book so I recommend reading this series in order.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for a review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Crazy good! Laelyn is a gifted storyteller and I am a huge huge fan. Unforgotten is an absolutely riveting addition to what I hope will be a long running series. I simply can not wait for her next book!

Unforgotten is the second book in by Cassie Laelyn’s ‘The Fallen Guardians’ series, and the story focuses on Raven’s second, Aric and the soulmate he left behind in Heaven, Willow. Due to the circumstances surrounding their separation and the years of suffering that resulted in Willow’s decision to fall from grace; Unforgotten is a story that runs a gamut of emotions and tests the very foundation that love is built upon.

Aric and Willow’s story is jam-packed with danger, tension and some moments of heartbreak too, but the author has a talent that definitely can’t be denied; her storytelling is well delivered, and the world building is exceptional. I did waver throughout the early pages of this book, as I wasn’t sure how to relate to Willow’s character, but she evolved as the story progressed. There is still an abundance of story to be told, so I eagerly await the next instalment in this captivating series.

This was an addictive read, I loved Willow and Alaric, you really go on Willows journey with her , feeling her anger and despair at being abandoned and the writing is so good. You can’t help but need to know they’ll be ok, as i did because I read this in one sitting. Great chemistry, lovely connection and story. I hadn’t read the first book in this series but I felt you didn’t need to stood well as a lone book, no cliffhangers, just a lovely Heartwarming end.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I knew from the moment I finished Unforsaken that The Fallen Guardians was going to become a new favorite. If possible, I think I may have liked Unforgotten even more, and not just because of Willow and Aric.

Of course if you’ve read Unforsaken, (which you totally should before you pick up Unforgotten) you’re already met Aric. I only thought that he broke my heart in the first book. Having him know that Willow was in the mortal realm and he still couldn’t be near her was pure torture. There were things about their time apart that neither one of them knew. Willow thought that she was abandoned and Aric thought he was keeping her safe. It seemed like repairing the damage between them was impossible. And Blaine wasn’t helping any…

Speaking of Blaine, readers were treated to a lot more time with him and the more I got to know him the more curious I became. There’s a lot more to him and his “fall” than anyone knows. There’s also a lot more to him and what drives him than meets the eye. He’s one of those characters that kind of grows on you whether you want him to or not. Hmm…

I loved spending time with these characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next. 😉

Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC. I had been waiting for the second book in the series. I had waited quite some time and therefore i had forgotten half of the characters. I got back into the swing of it and went on to appreciate this angelic love story- pun intended. I loved this book as much as part 1 and i hope theres more to come! Soulmates are a powerful thing. Never underestimate the power of love

Even though Aric has been exiled from the Heavens and his soulmate, he'll do anything to be with Willow again. When she shows up on Earth, he realizes she's no longer the angel he once knew. Can Aric and Willow navigate their new existence and a second chance a love or will they be thrust into a life neither of them wants?

Unforgotten is my first book by Cassie Laelyn and even though it is book two in the series, the backstory provided filled in what I needed to know from book 1. For the most part, I enjoyed this book. The pacing is solid, the characters are fully fleshed out and the turmoil the hero/heroine face kept me turning the pages. The ending was a little disappointing. I will read more in the series because I want to see what happens next.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

Did not finish this book and considering how long ago this review was due, I wanted to make sure I closed this out. Thank you for the opportunity and allowing me a chance to read this book. I do plan on getting to it this year, hopefully, but I just never got around to it.
