Description
When you walk past a rose bush, stop for a minute and inhale the cool, sweet fragrance, pause and feel that sense of total well-being; you have just experienced aromatherapy. When you chop herbs in the kitchen and the pungent scents tingle in your nose and make your mouth water, there it is again. Natural fragrances—contained in the roots, leaves, fruits, flowers, and wood of plants—have been recognized for thousands of years for their innate cleansing, healing, relaxing, and invigorating powers. Since antiquity, aromatic herbs and essences have been used as cosmetics, medicines, perfumes, and incense. Continue this time-tested practice of harnessing the therapeutic powers of natural fragrances with this knowledgeable text, which covers all aspects of aromatherapy, including:
- The origins of aromatherapy
- Basic therapeutic guidelines
- Essential oil qualities for lavender, frankincense, orange, tea-tree, and more

I like the design of this book, and that the relevant information about each essential oil is on one page – presented in a table. I love the recipes for numerous homemade blends. Also, the section about massages is useful, maybe to extended, but I don't mind. 4.5/5
Very informative book on aromatherapy with great pictures and safety guides. I learned something .
I received an e-ARC in exchange of an honest review from the publisher via netgalley.
Introductory guide to essential oils. They explore in detail and offer advice and teach you the power of these methods. Alot of great information for the basics of aromatherapy and the carrier oils. I liked reading the history of the oils and the best use for them.
Thank you to publisher and NetGalley for the eARC
This is a very handy guide for the basics of aromatherapy. I was going through the pages and thought I had seen it before. Well, obviously I had. Because I have it in my bookshelf, only in Dutch!
I’ve used it plenty of times over the years to look up different oils I could use for this or that reason. I’d recommend it to anyone’s wanting a clear and simple guide with essential oils
I found this a very interesting book, as I don’t really know much about aromatherapy. It told you a little about the history of the oils as well the best use of them. It gave you recipes for certain ailments, which I thought was useful. It was split into section of the body, which is an easy book to use for reference. Lots of nice photos which complemented the book. It also goes into a bit about how to massage and some case studies of people’s ailments. Overall, felt it was a very in-depth book, which gave you more than you bargained for!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
I voluntarily read this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Really enjoyed this
I'm really interested in the use of essential oils so to have this all in one place was great. Lots of information, background, history, use of - loved the photographs - lush
The only down side was that it was difficult to download - had to do this on my phone in Aldiko to be able to look at it - would have loved it in Kindle form to be able to really appreciate it either on my kindle or laptop - would have been 5 stars but for this

I love the therapeutic uses of essential oils in aromatherapy and massage. The book provides a historical perspective of the origins of aromatherapy. The book is displayed in a beautiful color and explanation of oils and carrier oils. Helpful instruction on buying and storage as well as many different uses. Much of the book offers some basic massage techniques to ease minor discomforts.

Unable to download this title however thank you for the opportunity to read this title before it’s publication date.
I really appreciated that this book drove home the importance of 1) moderation and 2) safety tests before full use. Many people think they can rush into aromatherapy, and sometimes they unintentionally hurt themselves in the long run because of it. Also, why make a huge batch of a mix only to find out your body does not tolerate it for some reason? Growing up in a house where one of the primary essential oils recommended for the respiratory system was the cause of anaphylactic issues taught me at a young age that what works for many does not work for everyone.
I also really appreciated the “datafile” on each essential oil, as it gives an in-depth look into not only their uses, but also what type of plant they are from and what part of the plant, etc.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This book is great for learning about essential oils as well as the different types of massages too.
I loved how the book gave information on safety at the beginning such as the importance of mixing essential oils with a carrier oil.
Uve always had an interest in aromatherapy but didn't know too much about it, so this book has been a great resource to exceed my knowledge and understanding.
