Description
A SURPRISING FRIENDSHIP, THE ENDEARING CHILDREN'S BOOK FROM AUTHOR AND THERAPIST ANDREW WALD, HELPS CHILDREN, ADULTS AND FAMILIES UNDERSTAND DIVERSITY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF UNIQUE AND ENDURING FRIENDSHIPS.
A Surprising Friendship is a heartwarming story of Zoey the Canadian goose and Henry the Black bear that celebrates diversity. Their fun and shared adventures show how differences can be overcome with kindness, acceptance, and a willingness to discover what we have in common with others who are not like us.
A Surprising Friendship is a welcomed addition to any families' reading list and library, with a wonderfully sweet and timely story by Wald, and beautiful watercolor illustrations by artist Tara J. Hannon.
Wald shares, "All beings are wired for connection. With an open heart, fear of others being different may be overcome and commonalities discovered and ultimately shared. As those friendships deepen over time, we feel fulfilled and alive. We want those feelings to endure. So, we yearn to maintain that relationship even if we have to be apart for a while. My wish is that this tale of Zoey and Henry encourages readers to welcome and enjoy a surprising friendship of their own, whatever the differences, obstacles, or distance."

'A Surprising Friendship' is an endearing story filled with beautiful illustration (the art complimented the story well) and a sweet message. This book focuses on an unexpected friendship formed between a goose and a bear and how differences matter little. I liked how this book shows that a good friendship surpasses seasons. This is a book I'll definitely read to my niece (little over three years old).
Such a cute and endearing story with great illustration. I love that the author used hibernation and geese flying south as a premise for unlikely friends. My 3.5 year old loved it at bedtime and was more excited that she and the goose share a name. She giggled loudly when the question was posed about bears eating geese. A very good children's book.
