Description

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing our nations today—but what is it? Hasn’t it always been happening? What is making it worse? Why do some people deny its happening?

The concept of climate change and all of its implications is discussed as part of the What's the Issue series. What's the Issue asks ‘what’s all the fuss about?’ It reviews what is at stake when we think about climate change, with the aim of helping young people to understand this difficult subject and provide them with the tools to inform their own opinions on the issue.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a great book for children of primary school age to read on the subject of climate change, what it is and what happens. This book gives some great information for children to learn and understand what its all about and then make up their own ideas from the information provided. Thus would be a great topical book to have within a classroom and would help children with for and against discussions too.

Climat Change is a hard topic to cover all the factors in when talking to children. This book does an excellent job and covering all the bits and bobs effecting this very important and devastating change in our environment.

This is for children and I’d basically say elementary age would benefit most, but older students could enjoy it as well as learn some interesting things too. This is a nicely designed book that would appeal to children. It is colorful with a graphic novel feel, but full of science knowledge centered about climate change. Readers learn about this topic and why it is important. They learn why it is happening and why talking about this is difficult making it an issue. The information is helpful and there are also some details that readers will be surprised to learn. I recommend this book for libraries and teachers to help discuss the subject of climate change. Sometimes topics are difficult to discuss from how to approach it to what information to give. It can be difficult to understand as well. This book can help. While the design is fun it can sometimes be overwhelming for an information book. There are boxes all over the place. Keeping this in mind is important, but the information is helpful. It is up to the reader and teacher to decide if the design is beneficial and appealing enough.
