Description
Kennedy and his boyfriend Seth have been together six years, and honestly, it's pretty comfortable. That is, until the couple gets into a huge, potentially relationship-changing fight. Kennedy turns to his trusty video games to distract himself, but when a random power surge hits, he's transported inside his video game library. Dazed and incredulous about his digital predicament, Ken finds himself seduced by a silver daddy, rutting with a couple of barbarians from an epic fantasy, and sorting through a lot of confusing feelings about his favorite anthropomorphic cheetah character. Kennedy will need to confront his biggest fears to get back to reality before the game glitches him out of existence, but sometimes, the unexpected (and unexpectedly sexy) is just what you need to hit the reset button.
"Hilarious and heartwarming, it's an absolute must for your favorite gaymer and an incredible read for anyone who's ever console-d themselves through a heartbreak.” —Tini Howard

What a funny and sweet book. Who would have thought I would say that about a homoerotic graphic novel?
First of all, the art is great. I mean REALLY great.
The story is a lot of fun and you keep hoping the best for poor Kenny.
The book was made availlable by NetGalley, for a honest review.

Before I begin the review I just want to reiterate that this is not a book for kids.
This was a great graphic erotic novel. Kennedy catches his boyfriend cheating on him. He tries to play away his sadness. But, This gets him sucked into several video games where he meets several interesting characters. They have quite the steamy encounters. This had a great storyline, characters and illustrations.
I often find that erotic comics / graphic novels are very unrealistic in the way they portray its characters, but I didn't really feel like this was the case here! With appearances of ways of protection against HIV, lots of lube, sex toys, and deep emotional issues it is very realistic! Sure, the story is about a guy that is transported into his video games and has sex with the characters, but the other aspects are so realistic that I just loved it! Also, creds for not creating a very toxic mindset and portrayal of sex and lust!
<i>A huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!</i>
I have to be honest here. I was naive when I requested this graphic novel. It said it was homoerotic, but I did not expect it to be <i>this</i> homoerotic, haha! I figured, I love graphic novels, I love (homo)erotica (I mean I read so much fanfiction), this is right up my alley!
Then the first page was a blowjob, with some rimming, and anal sex.
I immediately realized I had grossly miscalculated the amount of erotica, but was 100% here for it! I had a good chuckle at myself; who knew that I could still be taken by surprise, hahah!
Cheat(er) Code was so good, though! There is some actual character development; I am so proud of Ken! Also, Seth can fucking choke. The ending was just the best and I couldn't stop grinning. There is also plenty of humor throughout the novel, and a <i>lot</i> of puns, which was just akdgjhadsg.
It was also incredibly realistic (yknow, for a fantasy/science fiction homoerotic graphic novel). I mean that prep was done and lube was used, always, and Ken even douched. These things get overlooked so often, so I loved that here they were on full display and not shied away from.
And then there is the art- which is absolutely amazing! All the kudos! The facial expressions were <i>chef's kiss</i> and the sexual scenes were so well done, too. You never had to wonder what was happening because it was unclear.
ALSO A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE FACT THAT KENNEDY IS NOT RIPPED. AND THAT KENNEDY CALLS OUT SOMEONE FOR SIZE-SHAMING. AND THAT IT BREAKS THE STEREOTYPICAL LOOKS OF TOPS AND BOTTOMS.
I loved Ken's belly, I have never understood the appeal of six packs and being absolutely ripped. This was just another instance of realism, as most gay erotica only features 'perfect men'.
Also, the biggest guy in the story, was a major bottom, and a 'dick pig'. I love it when stereotypes get shattered, and this book just kept doing it!
Also loved (and laughed at) the nod at tentacle porn- brilliant!
All in all, I would 100% recommend this to you if this is your thing; it's just too good to pass up!
A homoerotic graphic novel, perfect for gaymer and those of us who used your games consoles to console our heartbreak.
Ok, I apologise for my bad pun, but this was a fun read where I was smiling all the way through, with a positive look at safe gay sex, using toys and lube and, once you get pass the sex (so much sex!), you see the sweetness over the main character trying to come to terms and get over his heartbreak.
<i>arc provided by the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review</i>
So, this I had zero idea what it was about beyond what looked to be a gaming sort of thing mixed in with some erotica.
I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had a blast reading it and had it done in one sitting! I loved that this was hilarious with all of the dirty puns mixed in with some smut and action scenes with an added flair of excellent character development.
I loved how sex positive this was. Not just in the amount of it but how the characters interacted, the consent and being shown things like Prep and douching. It’s something you don’t see a lot of despite the fact that it is something many people need and have to do.
The character development was also such a joy to see. We start off the story with Ken catching his boyfriend of six years cheating on him and he comes to find out that he’s not in love with him anymore either. So, now Ken needs to navigate life without his ex and figure out how to deal with his own feelings about everything. The way his favourite game characters to the way he, himself learned how to deal with it all was really touching and I think a lot of people could relate to it (minus the orc sex, or maybe with orc sex who knows).
This was a queer, smutty, hilariously fun read and I would definitely read more by these creators in the future!
4/5 ⭐️

The ARC for this novel was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review (Thanks again!).
Kennedy and Seth have been a couple for six years and Kennedy thinks that everything is still good between them but he is wrong. They've had some trouble but it's not until Kennedy discovers Seth cheating on him with another at his home that he realizes it's all over.
Shattered and heartbroken, Kennedy looks for ways to overcome him and prove that he can move on, but that night he is distracted by his video games and a huge energy overload transports him inside multiple video games, where he will be seduced by various characters, he will have many encounters sexual and will fight to return home and overcome their love break.
Cheather Code is an erotic graphic novel that will keep you attentive to Kennedy's adventures. It has some beautiful drawings and the author's imagination turns your head, starting because Kennedy knows many fictional characters that in one way or another surprise and captivate you and him.
The drawings are exceptional, I adored them, especially the colors they used, and I was able to empathize a lot with Kennedy, especially with the break up. And while the novel has lots of funny parts, there are also times when you can't help but feel sad for the character and wish everything would work out for him.
The author also mentions some topics in a subtle way such as depression or hurting oneself, something that really seemed very useful to me to know Kennedy.
In addition, there are many ridiculously charming and funny situations that will make you laugh out loud. And Kennedy's adventure, although funny and full of sexual moments, also leads you to love the characters and his final message is completely adorable, true and incredible. I seriously loved this graphic novel ~.
Of course, we must be clear that it is an EROTIC novel with VERY EXPLICIT scenes. If you are not comfortable with that type of content, you better not read it. Instead, if you enjoy it or it doesn't bother you, welcome to Kennedy's adventure ~.

This was a wild ride.
I knew what I was getting into. It said homoerotic, and I expected the sex scenes, but it was still a shock when the first page opened up to a sex scene. So let me reiterate. THIS IS NOT FOR KIDS!!!
This graphic novel follows Kennedy, who is going through a bad break up after catching his boyfriend cheating on him, and he’s not taking it very well. Trying to make himself feel better, he accidentally ends up in his games, and having sex with every character he comes across.
I wasn’t expecting much, but I had fun reading this, not because of the smut, but because of how funny it was. The situation is so ridiculous, but Kennedy goes along with it, and has sexy adventures beyond his wildest dreams. I love the art. The character designs are great, and I loved Kennedy’s pudgy belly. It made it more realistic, and I was not expecting an actual character arc. Kennedy’s break up and growing acceptance was sweet to unfold, once you’re not distracted by the sex scenes. I found myself cheering him on, it’s clear his sexual shenanigans is his therapeutic way of processing his grief at the loss of his relationship.
Don’t let the erotic tag put you off (or on *wink wink). This is a funny and sexy read that can touch your heart, and make you giggle.
Amid the steamy scenes we get a meaningful story of discovering ones self-worth and finding happiness after heartbreak. The character development was fantastic. I totally related to the part about using your hobbies to escape everyday life. I also understood the struggle of not becoming complacent in a long term relationship. The art style was totally up my alley and the whole video game element was a lot of fun. Being a gamer myself I liked how we got to visit different game worlds. Even though the male/male intimate scenes were really for me I love reading queer comics

This was everything I thought it would be ... and yet ohhh so much more than I expected.
I have read my fair share of fanfiction, especially explicit reads and erotica over the years but even I wasn't expecting the graphics to be as vivid as they were. BUT this book deserves so many brownic points as far as I am concerned. However, how often to you actually get to see that condoms, lube, proper prep and stretching are talked about? When was the last time you read a book with a MC with a healthy tummy and not a six pack? Where a character is called out for size-shaming AND that one of the biggest manliest butchest characters (he is an Orc y'know?) is the bottom that wants it hard and fast? Threesomes being used healthily by couples and not being shamed for it!
Oh, and not to mention PUNS. So. Many. Puns. You will giggle.
Granted, I got more than I was expecting in terms of graphics but the graphics were phenominal.
AND there was even character development!!! So proud of our MC for realising he was worth more than the shitty view and worth his ex had set the standard at. <3 He deserves happinesssss and I'm so glad that the ending turned out as it did.
Review to come September 8th on blog/goodreads.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review!
Oh boy, I saw this cover and just had to click on read now as I had to have it. Boy oh boy, the first pages were immediately action. *fans herself* That really set the tone to what the book would give us, and I love it.
I felt sad for our MC. He comes home from work only to find the love of his life, the guy he has been with for 6 years, having sex in the kitchen with another man. My heart instantly broke for this guy. And I wanted to kick his boyfriend in the nuts. Sorry, but if you don't have those feelings for someone BE FUCKING honest and don't FUCK around (literally in this case :P).
While I am happy that his boyfriend talked, I hated his excuses. Why not have talked about these feelings sooner? If you wanted more sex? Talk. If you wanted to do more exercising with your lover? TALK. If you felt your relationship was in a fucking rut, again TALK. Good lord. :|
I had such a big laugh at the app Ken opened up, FUKR.
I loved that Ken didn't sit down and gloom and doom, instead he just immediately went for things. Good guy! Don't let that piece of poo ex let you go in the dumps.
And then the fun really starts when Ken ejaculates on his game console... to be transported to the gaming world. OH MY GOD. I loved that. I am a big lover of games and play a ton of games as well, so I loved seeing which games he got into (Silent Hill (BDSM kind of) for first which made me squee). I loved seeing how he got into each game and how self-aware the characters were. I was definitely curious if he was dreaming (good dreams man) or if he really jizzed up his game console good. ;P
I loved how self-aware each game character was. How they explained stuff, how they guided the MC, and much more. It made for a really fun read. Plus, I just loved seeing each new world and how our MC tried to make the best of things. In the end everything comes together and there was just a big squee when I saw one of my favourite characters appear (a bit more dystopian, plus a bit more like Ken's boyfriend, and oh yes let's not forget the dick sword, but still it was him). And yes, in my head I was playing that song along with the scenes that featured him.
Each new character (well most of them) gets plenty of sexy scenes with our MC (not to mention we get to see some other very sexy scenes along the way when we get to the spaceship/space game), and OH WOW. I need some ice cubes after reading those, because they were HOT. Sizzling. Steamy. DETAILED. Which isn't bad oh no not at all, but the yaoi/shounen ai I have been reading for years wasn't always this explicit (though some were of course), and I really started reading erotic comics since... well last year. Oh boy.
I loved the last level and I was just enjoying it so so much. I loved that the book ended the way it did, it was truly perfect. I am so happy for Ken. And yes, I am crying a bit. That guy deserves someone special. Someone great. Someone who won't judge him for gaming.
The art was just amazing and I love the style. The sex scenes were drawn wonderfully.
I would highly recommend this sexy, funny, adventurous graphic novel to everyone.
This book, although very heavy on the NSFW content is surprisingly sweet.
In midst of all the erotica, there is actual character development, touching on heavy, emotional and social subjects without coming across as whiny or preachy.
It's also really hilarious and sassy with dirty puns mixed in with the smut and action scenes and I absolutely loved it!
The art is also quite exceptional, with vivid graphics, alongside awesome character design, full of imagination. I also have to give it extra browny points for the body-positivity and diversity in design.
Bottom line:
A sweet and sassy story of a gaymer relearning their own value while mending a broken heart.
4.5 stars and a rod.
This story was hilarious, sexy and real! I absolutely loved it. I read it three times before writing this review. I couldn’t put it down. The art was absolutely stunning, and the quips were HILARIOUS.
So much fun! This *graphic* novel follows our Player One, Ken, as he confronts heartbreak in a Jumanji-style video game sequence. With fantastic art, hilariously bad puns, and many clever nods to gaymer culture, Cheater Code is sure to be a hit. Major props for having a motivating story arc and for that Fogtown sequence! Rated M for Mature; joystick required. Thanks to NetGalley, Oni Press, and S.A. Foxe for the ARC!
Went into this expecting it to just be a short steamy read with not much actual plot, turns out I was very wrong. We follow Ken who has just walked in on his long term boyfriend cheating on him. What ensues is a wild adventure as Ken is transported into his favourite videos games, where he has some steamy encounters with several of the characters. While being a laugh and lots of fun, the story also shows a wonderful arch of Ken finding his own self value and confidence. I also need to give huge props to the great male body positivity, it’s not often you see a MC with a tummy, and I really appreciate that.
Cheater code is a heartwarming story about a man learning to love himself again after his heart has been broken. It's hot, funny, sad, and hopeful. Everything you could possibly want in a comic book.
This was some A+ nerdcore smexy Erotica graphic novel.
After breaking up with his boyfriend of six years, Kennedy turns to his games for comfort and then in some freak glitch ends up being transported into the world of the games he plays.
Like is said before, this was top quality, the color and the erm...smack dab right in your face sexy scenes. Its an enjoyable comic and sometimes a bit ridiculous but it's a fun read.
This is definitely 18+ Adults only i feel like that should be put on the front cover.
Erotica! Yesssss. I finally went into the Erotica category on NetGalley, and the pickings were slim, but I was very excited about this. Video game isekai? Porn with a plot? Furry cheetah guy? Oh yes, I was very excited. And I actually read it just now because I've had such a slump reviewing-- check out a few of my last reviews and you'll see I have been disappointed by a couple of reads from NG. I set aside a definite 30 minute minimum a day of reading, and I was tired of spending days reading books just to be disappointed and have to leave a serious, professional review about why I was disappointed because I believe every critical review should also strive to be helpful, etc.
It's exactly what I signed up for, but it gets tiring.
So I read THIS! I figured, hey, it's graphic novel erotica. Standards are different. It can be all porn and lack plot entirely. Let's go.
And I really liked it! I mean, I can't really think of what to critique about the book because I just liked everything about it. So now I'm going to write a lengthy happy review of all the things I liked.
Firstly, the art-- very cute, very distinctive. I particularly liked the simplicity of the lines and coloration; they gave a smooth feeling to the characters almost reminiscent of animation. The designs for the separate characters were also great, and not just because they fit cleanly into genre tropes without identifying specific franchises. Not to mention... so many bears... Fuck yeah bears.
Incredibly, I'm also going to praise the story of an erotic graphic novel. It was cute! It's nice to see sexual positivity; the book is exactly as advertised in this domain and the cheesiness factor was perfect. It's hard to balance sex scenes and plot, but Foxe managed that easily. Yes, seriously, I'm happier with the plot in this erotic graphic novel than in most of the books I've read recently.
Also, yes, let's discuss the actual sex scenes. They were CREATIVE. I've attempted sex scenes before (in writing, not real life-- I mean-- well--) and they're DIFFICULT. You write two and it's hard to stay original, let alone-- let me think. One, two, three, four... uncountable numbers of sex scenes. And yet Foxe came up with ways to make each unique! Outfits, partners, settings... toys I'd never heard of let alone seen... I really don't think there's much more you could ask for with this one.
Now, if I can be ranty and admonish some people. I noticed that a lot of the top comments are from people who rated the book lower because, somehow, they were not aware it was erotica. I will complain about misleading marketing all day and night (in fact, recently did so in my review of Odessa ), but at some point, you have to take that responsibility for misleading yourself. The cover of this is sexual to begin with (crotch shot? furry abs guy? several bears of the homosexual variety?), and the genre is listed as "Erotica"-- ONLY "Erotica"-- on NG. It should not appear in any other category. The first four words of the description (here and on NG): "An EROTIC graphic novel" (emphasis mine.)
It does absolutely bother me for reviews of this book to be tainted by people who had no interest in it. This is why I don't rate books I don't feel were intended for me to read (eg if I go into a book knowing it's not my genre and... it turns out not to be my genre.) The reviews section is for people who are considering the book, and as such are considering erotica as it is. "Oh whoops it was exactly what it advertised itself as; -2 stars because I cannot read" is not acceptable. Erotica is already a tiny and much-maligned genre, so please don't make it more difficult for authors who are already working in the niche.
And if you're a reader, please take a moment to go through the reviews and highlight the ones that were most helpful to you-- particularly the ones who explain why they give the star count they do (I happily liked some 3/4-star reviews here that were well-written) and that take a reasonable look at the book.
And, well, there we are. I personally really liked this book, and I expect to come back to it later. It's got a wonderful art style, a cute message, some body diversity, and the porny bits were very well done. It manages to combine a narrative with the sexy scenes in a way that doesn't undermine either, which is incredibly difficult. I came (!) in expecting to read some trashy nonsense, and I was very happily surprised.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Oni Press for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
I was so drawn to this title when I saw that it was a (homo)erotica graphic novel. As someone who have read graphic yaoi/BL manga/webtoons, I’ve come to enjoy these kinds of stories so upon reading the first page of Cheat(er) Code, I was not disappointed!
The synopsis was enough to intrigue me as we follow Kennedy who finds that his boyfriend of six years have been cheating on him and ends up sucked into the world of his video games mixed all together because of a glitch.
This story is every fan’s dream! It’s almost like having harem of your favorite fictional characters!
I loved and very much enjoyed how verrryyyy erotic this graphic novel was as well as realistic. The novel addressed topics of proper pre-intercourse preparation like douching and lube use. Our main character isn’t like those stereotypical fit characters that we usually see in books as Ken is not ripped since he has a gut and he also calls out someone for size-shaming him. I feel like this kind of representation is so so important.
The story overall was so much fun to read! I love all the other characters and the puns and banter they shared with Ken all throughout! I also loved the art style. The details especially of the video game world and the characters are so good! The expressions and different personalities added to how realistic it was. Besides video game world setting, everything else felt real. The relationships and the heartfelt conversations between the characters were genuine and helpful and I love that those experiences, no matter how odd, helped Kennedy move on from that part of him and find the closure he needed.
I love the diversity in terms of the body types and species in this. All the different sex positions and kinks featured were interesting as well.
Overall, I absolutely loved this, I had such a good laugh and I’m hoping to read more graphic novels like this! Definitely would recommend for those who enjoy stories like this!
This comes out on Nov. 24!
This was really funny and cute!!!! Obviously...there was a lot of sex. That was like the main thing of the book. But I liked that it was about learning and growing and becoming a new person after heartbreak, And omg they put silent hill in there??? That was some big brain stuff right there. Definitely wanna buy this once it comes out!
