Description
Loner Dale Claybourne spent the last five years as a dedicated and decorated Pinkerton agent. Confident in his abilities, he’s not afraid to face down thieves, swindlers and even murderers. But he quells at the mandate of having to train a female agent and, even worse, to marry her before receiving his next assignment.
Gregarious Liana LaFontaine served as a seamstress for the Denver Pinkerton Agency. Now she yearns for a taste of the adventurous life of being an agent. Her ability to speak several languages and her ease with getting people to talk are her strongest assets.
Impulsive by nature, Liana jumps into situations she doesn’t have the experience to handle. Dale fights his growing admiration for this French beauty while keeping close to guard her safety. At odds over almost everything, the pair has to solve the mystery of who is stealing from a Virginia City saloon—a task made even harder because of the wild attraction that shouldn’t be present in a marriage of convenience.

I enjoyed this novella and wished it was so short! A historical romance about the Pinkerton Agency and it was quite fun. It’s a stand-alone, HEA that promises more adventure about her sister and I’d recommend this if you just wanted something light to read and didn’t have a lot of time to finish a book.
This was a NETGALLEY gift and all opinions are my own. Thank you for reading my review.
If you want a light read and a cute story An Agent for Liana by Linda Carroll-Bradd might be just the book for you. Liana and her sister had immigrated from France shortly after the Civil War. They are employed as seamstresses for women who are beginning to work for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Liana wants more adventure than the life of a seamstress has to offer, so she talks her sister into applying to work for Pinkerton as agents. They are accepted, but the one caveat is they have to marry the man who is to train them. After all, how would it look for a man and woman to travel together, share a hotel room, and not be married. It should be a marriage in name only.
Dale is the agent assigned to Liana. He is not thrilled to have to train and work with a woman. After some disastrous missteps, Liana turns out to be a pretty good agent. As they work together, feelings begin to develop and maybe, just maybe, this will turn out to be a real marriage after all.
Enjoy this fun read, which is the first in a series.
An Agent forLiana by Linda Carroll-Bradd is an enjoyable read. The story traces the start of a new PINKERTON Agent and her first case. The characters are believable and well developed. The case is nd has plenty of surprises. Highly recommended.
This is a good clean story with action, suspense, mystery and romance. Come meet Liana and Dale and get ready to go on an exciting undercover case with them. This book was a wonderful addition to The Pinkerton Matchmaker series and was a joy to read. All of the books in this series are stand alone's and can be read in any order. Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. This was a historical fiction novel set in the Old West time period. This was a very fast and enjoyable read about the beginnings of female Pinkerton agents. I had no idea that the first agents were required to marry their partner!!! Great story with old west action in the saloons and gambling with a hint of romance. I had not read the previous novels and didn't find that a problem to pick this one up and understand the storyline and enjoy it!
Now this was something different that I haven't read quite like it before. Very entertaining and had me laughing throughout the story. I love the interactions between Liana and Dale. They are sweet and playful. The cover is gorgeous, the characters entertaining. Although I have only read this book in the series, I think the other books would be a lot of fun!
I have been following this series with some of stories okay, some bad and some very good. This story lands in the very good category. It is a slender story, like most westerns, but it fully defines the characters. I like the plot of a heroine who wants to become a Pinkerton Female Agent and the requirement that they have to marry their experienced partners. The hero is an old hand at investigations and is not have to have an inexperienced partner or to have to marry her. But they go on their assignment. This book had a clear story line, was a smooth read with a definite beginning and ending. There were no danglers, only a precursor to the next in the series. I will not lie, there could have been more story, there was room in developing the story around the bruises carried on the bar maids and more of a development about the people speaking German in the hall way and other places. But it is a Western and they do not have a the off shoots or back ground stories like the historical tend to have.
I enjoyed this story and it was a strong plot with likeable characters. It had continuity and the spelling and grammar were correct. The French phrases that the heroine used translated properly (because I translated them on an on-line translater). I would highly recommend this book. 5 stars
An Agent for Liana started out good; but it seemed to end too quickly. I would have liked to see more of a mystery and more investigation work with Liana and Dale. It seemed like the bulk of the book was them travelling and once they got there they worked alone until Dale storms in and saves the day. It would have benefited from a bit more depth.
A short cute fun read set in the old West about the Pinkerton Agency and agents.
It tells how they pick the female agents to go with the male agents that has to enter a marriage and usually a romance start.
Has suspense,drama,action and romance.
Enjoyed reading.

This was a fun historical romance novella. Liana wants some adventure in her life so she becomes a Pinkerton agent (one of the first female agents) and is paired up with a somewhat rough around the corners man. In their first case, they have to figure out why money is going missing from a. saloon as they figure out their feelings for each other. A nice light read if you don't have a lot of time.
This was an enjoyable book to read. It kept me interested and wanting to know what happens to the main characters. They were funny, brave and it was nice to find out what the Agents did, l do recommend that you read this book.
